Maytag - 36 in. Wide 20 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator With Powercold Feature - Stainless Steel MFC2062FEZ

Yes, this is a genuine counter-depth model with a depth of 29.5 inches, designed to align with standard kitchen countertops rather than protrude into the room. Multiple owners report it fits perfectly in smaller or galley kitchens and appreciate the space-saving design, though some note it is noticeably smaller in overall capacity than full-depth models.

Owners consistently praise the French-door design and bottom freezer drawer for easy access to fresh food items. The interior lighting is bright and helpful. However, some note that shelves lack back stops (items can slide to the back), door baskets reduce usable shelf space, and the freezer drawer can make it harder to reach items at the very bottom. The bottom freezer drawer holds more than expected and is easier to organize than traditional top freezers.

Most owners report the refrigerator is very quiet and runs nearly silently. However, a small number of owners have experienced a high-pitched compressor whine, which one reviewer noted Maytag acknowledged as a known issue. If noise is a concern, it is advisable to test the unit before finalizing purchase and verify the return policy.

Owners report that the refrigerator maintains consistent, stable temperatures as set, and food stays properly cold without freezing in the back—a common complaint with other brands. The temperature management is reliable and dependable across multiple reviews.

Most owners are satisfied with the internal ice maker and filtered water dispenser. However, some report the ice maker failed or required service calls, and a few note minor water dripping from the dispenser after use or occasionally at night. The internal water dispenser is praised for its clean appearance compared to external models.

Most owners are satisfied with the overall build and appearance. However, several report concerns with drawer and door quality: some fruit/vegetable drawers lack tracks and slide plastic-on-plastic, making them prone to sticking or misalignment; a few owners noted loose handles or wiggly freezer drawers; and one reported a freezer door that broke within weeks. The doors generally operate smoothly, though one owner reported difficulty with the right door not closing automatically.

This model includes a 10-year compressor warranty, which several owners specifically mention as a reason for purchase. Owners report Maytag's reputation for reliability and durability, with some noting their previous Maytag appliances lasted 30+ years. However, a few early-failure issues (compressor noise, door defects, ice maker problems) have been reported, so proper installation and prompt attention to any issues within the return window is recommended.

The refrigerator has a capacity of 20 cubic feet. Owners note it provides more usable storage than expected for its size, with spacious door bins that can hold gallon milk jugs and well-organized drawers. However, it is noticeably smaller than full-depth models, and some owners downsizing from larger refrigerators find the adjustment significant. It is well-suited for couples, small households, or as a secondary kitchen fridge.
