Maytag 20 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator 30-Inch Wide In Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel MFW2055FRZ

Several owners report the refrigerator is noisy. Complaints include loud ice maker cycling, loud door closing, and overall loud compressor operation. One reviewer described the performance as noisy and clumsy, and another found the ice maker particularly loud when it cycles.

Owners consistently praise the French-door design with bottom freezer drawer, water and ice dispenser on the door, retractable middle shelf for tall items, and the spacious 20 cubic foot capacity. Many reviewers highlight how easy it is to see and organize food, the stainless steel finish that resists fingerprints, and the convenient location of the ice maker in the freezer rather than taking up fridge space.

Yes—multiple owners report this model works well in compact spaces and smaller kitchens. Reviewers note it is slim and fits where other French-door models do not, while still offering versatile interior organization and adequate storage. However, some mention that arranging taller items requires planning due to shelf height constraints.

This is a recurring concern among owners. While the retractable middle shelf helps create extra height when needed, several reviewers report that shelf height is limited and tall items are difficult to accommodate. Some note that milk jugs and large containers take up significant shelf space or require items to be positioned awkwardly in the front, and that adjustable shelf positions do not provide adequate clearance for taller items.

Most owners report the water dispenser and ice maker work well and appreciate the door-mounted feature. However, a few reviewers have experienced issues: one reported the water dispenser stopped working after a week, and another noted water drips for hours after use. One owner also mentioned the dispensed water is not as cold as expected compared to previous models.

Most owners report the refrigerator cools well and maintains consistent temperature. However, several reviewers have experienced significant problems: some report produce and items in the back of the fridge freeze easily, causing food loss; one owner reported the freezer would not get below 15 degrees; and multiple owners have had compressor failures within 1–3 years of purchase, which is concerning for long-term reliability.

One owner noted the lighting is blueish (LED) and not very bright, making it difficult to see items at the back of shelves when the top shelf is full. However, another reviewer mentioned the light is brighter than a comparable competitor model.

One reviewer mentioned a 10-year compressor warranty offered by the salesman, which provided peace of mind. However, another owner noted difficulty reaching Maytag customer service by phone when needing support. Maytag has been reported to stand behind repairs when issues arise within warranty periods.
