Gathering the reviews
We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.

Averaged across every source we found (Amazon, AJ Madison, and other retailers). Each source counts in proportion to how many ratings it has, so a store with thousands of reviews moves the number more than one with only a handful.

What owners talk about most
“I really like the refrigerator. I love that you can do a systems check on it. Changing the air and water filters is easy and quick. The only problem I have with it is the in-door ice maker overflows then the ice melts outside the bucket and water drops will come out of the door.”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet. See the spec FAQ below for the official numbers.
Reviewers consistently praise the spacious 26 cubic foot capacity, modern French-door design, dual ice makers (one in the door, one in the freezer), and fingerprint-resistant finish. Many also highlight quiet operation and the convenience of having ice and water dispensers in two locations. The layout and flexibility are frequently mentioned as standout features.
Yes—ice maker problems are the most frequently cited complaint across reviews. Multiple owners report ice makers getting stuck, leaking, freezing into solid mounds, or failing entirely within 1–2 years. Some have had to replace ice maker components multiple times under warranty and after it expires. This is a genuine pattern affecting a significant portion of owners.
Multiple reviewers report compressor and sealed-system failures between 2–4 years of ownership, well before typical refrigerator lifespan. Some owners note that LG service technicians have indicated these components are known to fail within that window and require replacement. This is a recurring concern that suggests durability may be shorter than expected for the price point.
Yes—multiple owners report evaporator fan, freezer fan, and ice maker fan failures between 14 months and 3 years of use. Some failures occur just outside the warranty period. This is a distinct and recurring pattern separate from compressor issues, suggesting fan motor durability may be a design weakness.
No—several owners report difficulty obtaining replacement parts, with some told that parts are discontinued or not yet in stock even for relatively new units. This has made repairs difficult and extended downtime for owners needing service.
No—one owner reports a significant design limitation: shelves cannot be staggered because the slot system does not allow a top shelf support to sit next to a bottom shelf support. While individual shelves can be removed and the adjacent shelf adjusted, the inflexible support structure prevents the kind of customizable layout many shoppers expect.
Yes—owners who are satisfied with the unit consistently report that it runs very quietly and is energy efficient. Several reviewers specifically praise the quiet operation as a standout feature, making it a good choice for open-concept kitchens or noise-sensitive households.
Several owners recommend it. Multiple reviewers report that major component failures (compressor, fans, ice makers) occur just outside the standard warranty period, and at least one owner noted that having extended warranty coverage allowed them to get repairs completed quickly and at no cost. Given the pattern of failures in years 2–4, extended coverage may be worthwhile.

What Owners Say
295 ratings
LG French door refrigerator is outstanding in it's operation, style, looks, and keeping food fresh and plenty of ice made.
We bought a LG French door refrigerator in thinking it was a great brand, but after a few years it stopped cooling and making ice. We found out that a unit that LG uses only lasts a few years and will have to be replaced frequently after 3-5 years.
Works great. It did have a compressor issues and we lost everything in the unit. But LG sent a tech out who was awesome and fixed the fridge! And quick! Fridge is roomy and good shelf placement
Great fridge very roomy. Only wish is to have a pull out tray at water dispenser. Had one on my old LG.
So far this refrigerator has given us no issues in the 12 months I have had it. I like the no finger print and outside dispenser for water and ice. I would like to know how to stop the filters so I will not need to replace them.
