GE 36" Side By Side 25.3 cu. ft. Refrigerator GSS25GYPFS

Owners consistently praise the fingerprint-resistant finish, bright LED lighting, quiet operation, spacious interior with flexible shelving, and reliable temperature control. Many reviewers also appreciate the side-by-side door design for convenience and note that the fridge maintains steady temperatures well. Several long-term owners report excellent durability, with some GE models lasting 20+ years with minimal repairs.

Ice maker performance is mixed. Some owners report the ice maker works well with no issues even after years of use, while others experience problems including slow ice production, overflow issues, water dispensing that is slow or doesn't work, and in some cases complete failure to make ice. A few reviewers also note the ice maker is noisy when operating. If you rely heavily on ice production, this is a feature worth monitoring after installation.

No, this model does not include a deli or snack drawer. Multiple owners note this as a significant drawback, especially those upgrading from older GE models that had this feature. Several reviewers mention they wish GE had retained this compartment for storing meats and cheeses, and some have had difficulty finding aftermarket replacements that fit.

Some owners report the water filter has a short lifespan, with one reviewer noting the filter lasted only 2.5 months before water pressure dropped significantly. Another reviewer experienced a defective filter on the first day of use. Additionally, one owner reported an RFID reader failure that prevented the unit from detecting new filters. This is an area where maintenance costs and frequency may be higher than expected.

A few owners have reported build quality issues, including door hinges that required adjustment and still remain slightly misaligned, rust appearing on internal components within 2 years, and squeaking freezer doors. One reviewer noted the unit uses delicate plastic components and lacks rear levelers, expressing concern about longevity. However, many other owners report satisfaction and some cite excellent long-term durability from previous GE models, so experiences vary.

Freezer capacity is a concern for some owners. A few reviewers note the freezer compartment is quite small and difficult to fit large items into, with one describing it as having very limited capacity. However, other owners report the freezer holds frozen pizzas nicely and provides adequate space for their household needs. Capacity appears to depend on individual usage patterns and expectations.

Owners consistently praise the LED lighting as very bright and easy to see everything inside both the fridge and freezer compartments. Multiple reviewers highlight this as a standout feature that makes it convenient to locate items.

Most owners report excellent temperature control and consistency. However, a few early reviewers noted that the freezer and refrigerator were not at correct temperatures within the first 24 hours of use, and one owner reported ice cream not freezing solid after a week of operation. These appear to be isolated cases, as the majority of reviews praise reliable and precise temperature maintenance.
