Gathering the reviews
We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.
Calculating the average
Averaged across every source we found (Amazon, AJ Madison, and other retailers). Each source counts in proportion to how many ratings it has, so a store with thousands of reviews moves the number more than one with only a handful.

What owners talk about most
“I got this refrigerator about a month ago for a bar I am putting in my basement. The size and features have worked out great. So far, so good with this GE refrigerator.”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet. See the spec FAQ below for the official numbers.
Reliability is mixed. Many owners report years of trouble-free operation and are very satisfied with the unit. However, a notable number of reviewers have experienced cooling failures, compressor issues, water leaks, and component breakdowns within 2–4 years of purchase. Some units have failed within months of delivery. If you purchase, verify the warranty coverage and keep documentation for potential service claims.
Noise is a recurring complaint. Multiple owners report constant loud buzzing, high-pitched sounds, rattling, vibration, and clunking noises that persist even after replacement units are delivered. Some reviewers describe the noise as annoying and disruptive. A smaller number of owners report quiet operation, but the pattern suggests this model runs louder than many competing refrigerators.
Owners report mixed experiences with capacity. While the unit is 18.6 cubic feet, several reviewers find the usable storage space smaller than expected—particularly in the freezer, which has limited shelf and bin depth. The counter-depth design reduces interior depth. However, many owners praise the flexible shelf configuration and say the layout maximizes usable space for their needs, especially for smaller households or kitchens with limited space.
Multiple reviewers report that the drawers and door shelves are flimsy, made of thin plastic, and prone to binding or breaking. The freezer drawer feels shaky or wobbles when pulled in or out. Some owners note that replacement parts are hard to find. However, other reviewers are satisfied with the shelf configuration and adjustability, suggesting quality may vary by unit.
Temperature control is a concern for some owners. Several reviewers report that the unit fails to hold the set temperature, runs too cold and freezes food in the refrigerator section, or fluctuates drastically. One owner reported the fridge cooling at 72°F when set to 37°F. However, many other owners report the unit works well and maintains proper temperature without issue.
Most owners are very pleased with the counter-depth design. It fits well in kitchens with limited space, creates a built-in look, and makes the kitchen appear larger. The dimensions are 32.8 inches wide, 69.9 inches tall, and 31 inches deep. However, a few reviewers note that the reduced depth means less interior storage space than traditional refrigerators, so measure your space and needs before purchasing.
The internal water dispenser has mixed reviews. Some owners find it convenient and appreciate that it doesn't take up shelf space. However, several reviewers report that it is difficult to reach while holding a cup, requires two hands to operate, and the button is hard to press. If easy water access is important to you, test the dispenser in person before buying.
The refrigerator uses approximately 547 kilowatt-hours per year. Several owners report that it is more energy efficient than their previous models, and one reviewer specifically noted it was much more efficient than the Whirlpool it replaced. However, most reviews do not discuss energy consumption in detail, so if efficiency is a priority, compare this figure to other models in the same size category.

What the internet says
I got this refrigerator about a month ago for a bar I am putting in my basement. The size and features have worked out great. So far, so good with this GE refrigerator.
I was little bit disappointed by the small freezer but overall the fridge is very nice, I need to use the ice maker tray now as my previous fridge from 1984 had bigger freezer capacity
We specifically asked to look at GE refrigerators from previous experience with GE products. We especially like the depth of shelves in the doors and the ability to adjust the arrangement of the shelves to accommodate larger bottles! The unit is much more energy efficient…
My new refrigerator has plenty of shelving and looks appealing, glad to get a new one. I like the water one the side very useful without taking up room.
Well known brand. Have owned several GE products with no problems
