GE - 36 in. Wide 21.9 cu. ft. French Door Counter Depth Refrigerator With Internal Water Dispenser - Stainless Steel GWE22JYMFS

Most owners report the fridge runs quietly with a low hum that's not distracting, though some reviewers note it produces a humming or noise that can be heard in adjacent rooms. A few mention the ice maker makes noise when dispensing, which is normal operation. Experiences vary, so if quiet operation is critical, consider this a potential consideration.

The freezer is notably compact for a counter-depth model. Multiple owners report it's smaller than expected and may not accommodate large items like whole chickens or turkeys. Several reviewers recommend pairing it with a separate freezer if you need significant frozen storage. It works well for a couple or small family with modest freezing needs.

The water dispenser is located inside the refrigerator and requires you to hold down a button with your finger to dispense water—you cannot simply press a cup against it. Owners appreciate the clean exterior look this provides, though some find the button-hold operation awkward, especially when using one hand. The feature works reliably once you're accustomed to the operation.

This is a counter-depth French-door model with dimensions of 35.6 inches wide, 69.9 inches tall, and 30.9 inches deep. Most owners report it fits well in standard kitchen spaces and looks built-in. One reviewer noted width specs may vary slightly from expectations, so verify measurements against your space before purchase.

Several owners report the freezer drawers and door feel lightweight, flimsy, or wobbly compared to higher-end models. The drawer slides don't always feel smooth or sturdy, and some reviewers note the door doesn't close smoothly unless manually aligned. This is a recurring concern, particularly for those upgrading from premium GE models or older units.

Most owners report reliable cooling and temperature stability. However, one reviewer noted the bottom freezer can experience significant temperature swings (15–20 degrees) after opening the drawer, taking several hours to recover to the set point. This appears to be an isolated case, but temperature recovery time may vary depending on usage patterns.

Owners consistently praise the spacious refrigerator section, fingerprint-resistant stainless steel finish, adjustable shelving, ice maker performance, and clean aesthetic with the internal water dispenser. Many appreciate the counter-depth design and energy efficiency. The French-door layout is popular for visibility and access, and the overall value for the price is frequently mentioned as a strength.
