Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet. See the spec FAQ below for the official numbers.
How quiet is this refrigerator during operation?Based on 6 owner mentions
Most owners report the refrigerator operates quietly and smoothly. However, a few owners note it produces a noticeable hum or has developed a loud noise over time, and one owner mentioned it is somewhat noisy but doesn't bother them significantly.
What do owners love most about this refrigerator?Based on 22 owner mentions
Owners consistently praise the modern, attractive design with gold accents, spacious interior with flexible shelf layouts, bright lighting, and convenient features like the hot water dispenser and temperature-controlled drawers. Many report it receives compliments and adds a premium look to their kitchen.
How does the hot water dispenser work and is it useful?Based on 9 owner mentions
The hot water dispenser is located on the exterior door and delivers hot water on demand, which owners find convenient for tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and cooking. It requires the lever to be held in place while dispensing, and the display shows the amount of water dispensed in real time.
Is the ice maker reliable and does it produce enough ice?Based on 7 owner mentions
The ice maker is a mixed experience. Some owners report it works well and produces plenty of ice, while others note it is slow to produce ice, unreliable, prone to clogging, or insufficient for larger families. A few owners report the ice maker won't function until the freezer reaches temperature.
What is the long-term durability and reliability of this refrigerator?Based on 7 owner mentions
Durability is a significant concern. Multiple owners report compressor failures, main board failures, and other component breakdowns occurring between 1.5 to 5 years of ownership, despite the premium price. Some owners have experienced multiple failures requiring replacement units. A few owners report excellent durability, but the pattern of early failures is notable and contrasts with expectations for a high-end appliance.
Are there any issues with temperature control or food preservation?Based on 5 owner mentions
Some owners report temperature control problems, including produce freezing unexpectedly, ice cream and vegetables not freezing properly, and condensation forming on cooler items. One owner noted the thermostat does not record actual temperature accurately. However, most owners report steady, reliable temperature maintenance.
How easy is it to use the controls and smart features?Based on 5 owner mentions
The water and ice dispenser controls are straightforward, and the WiFi connectivity is easy to set up according to owners. However, some report the touch screen is unresponsive, requires multiple presses, feels cheap, or has failed entirely. The photo upload feature is noted as difficult to figure out.
Are there any design or usability concerns with the doors or drawers?Based on 6 owner mentions
Several owners note the French doors do not open far enough to allow full access to lower drawers or items. Some report difficulty removing drawers without clear instructions, and one owner experienced a broken door hinge due to the weight of the door pulling over time. The freezer door is described as feeling flimsy by some.

- Beautiful, functional, would buy again
I've had this fridge for 6 months now, and feel pretty solid in my opinion. I think overall this fridge is great. It's beautiful, I always get a ton of compliments on it, it's functional, has great storage capacity, the ice maker is great, I use the hot water function every so often. All around I am very pleased. I would really give this 4.5 stars if I could, because the only issue thus far is recently a very loud noise has started. It comes and goes, and is there less often than not, so I'm hoping it isn't a permanent new sound. Otherwise, no other real complaints.

MYSTROJul 31, 2024 - Fantastic Features
The features on this model are far and above what one would expect from a refrigerator. The in the door hot water feature is great for a quick cup of tea etc. The twin temps is something I wasn’t expecting. What a great appliance.
Kjf54Jul 18, 2024 - Has it all - function, features and its gorgeous
Absolutely adore this refrigerator. Besides the beautiful aesthetic, the amount of space inside is something I’ve never seen outside a commercial unit! The special options to power cool or freeze are amazing. And my absolute favorite part: scheduling hot water to be ready for my daily tea break. If you’re on the fence, just order it. You’ll be so glad you did!
SLA24Jun 13, 2024 - BEAUTIFUL and looks like a high end appliance
Beautiful design and a good sized refrigerator and freezer with several arrangement options. While we love the ice & water dispenser on the outside door v inside the unit, it doesn't make enough ice for our family. Also, the gasket around the inside refrigerator door won't stay on as if it's too big for the door so that has to be replaced.
17PalmsJun 21, 2026 - Great Features!
Enjoying the new fridge. Like the hot water option from the door as well as the half shelf for other tall items.
CHarvApr 3, 2026 - Very pleased!

Brand Background
About Café
Café represents GE Appliances' entry into the luxury refrigerator segment, launched in 2018 and operated under parent company Haier from its Louisville, Kentucky headquarters. The brand has carved out a distinctive niche by emphasizing customizable aesthetics and design-forward styling, allowing homeowners to personalize hardware finishes and handle styles to match their kitchen décor. Fridge.com currently tracks 12 active models from Café, with French door configurations dominating the lineup at eight units—reflecting the brand's focus on premium, full-size kitchen installations. The catalog also includes specialty options such as a beverage center and compact unit, demonstrating some range beyond traditional refrigeration. Models like the CWE23SP4MW2 and CFE28TP3MD1 showcase the brand's commitment to modern aesthetics paired with functional design. With an average rating of 3.8 out of 5, Café occupies a respectable but not exceptional position in owner satisfaction, suggesting that while the brand delivers on visual appeal, performance experiences may vary. For buyers prioritizing kitchen design cohesion and willing to invest in a luxury-tier appliance, Café offers a compelling alternative to conventional stainless steel uniformity.
