Beautiful, functional, would buy again

I've had this fridge for 6 months now, and feel pretty solid in my opinion. I think overall this fridge is great. It's beautiful, I always get a ton of compliments on it, it's functional, has great storage capacity, the ice maker is great, I use the hot water function every so often. All around I am very pleased. I would really give this 4.5 stars if I could, because the only issue thus far is recently a very loud noise has started. It comes and goes, and is there less often than not, so I'm hoping it isn't a permanent new sound. Otherwise, no other real complaints.

The features on this model are far and above what one would expect from a refrigerator. The in the door hot water feature is great for a quick cup of tea etc. The twin temps is something I wasn’t expecting. What a great appliance.

Absolutely adore this refrigerator. Besides the beautiful aesthetic, the amount of space inside is something I’ve never seen outside a commercial unit! The special options to power cool or freeze are amazing. And my absolute favorite part: scheduling hot water to be ready for my daily tea break. If you’re on the fence, just order it. You’ll be so glad you did!

The refrigerator is beautiful. A lot of customers don’t like the black sides, but it looks fine and doesn’t have to be covered. I had a door cubby crack the first day. Bummer.

The refrigerator doors are great. The warning is really good because sometimes I don’t close it all the way. The filter in the refrigerator makes the water and ice taste great The vegetable bins are very good in where the fruit is skipped is very good to.

The refrigerator is sturdy, spacious, and seems well designed . The hot water feature and ability to upload digital photos (maybe because the steel surface does not allow magnets to stick) are bonuses. My only complaint is that the ice dispenser spits cubed and crushed ice all over and it's impossible to get it into a glass without making a mess!

Looks great, works great. Overall very pleased with our purchase. The black sides blend in well with our dark cabinets and even though it sticks out more than our old fridge it doesn’t feel like it when you walk in to the kitchen.

We love the layout, abundant space, and functionality of this refrigerator. The ability to customize the shelf layout is very beneficial. The doors provide lots of storage space, and the deep freezer drawers allow for ample, easily accessible volume. The only minor drawback is the ice maker. The ice tends to clump above the grinder, so we often have to open the door and push the cubes down so they can be dispensed. This is a beautiful refrigerator with a white finish and brass hardware that perfectly complements my kitchen design. We also have the matching GE Cafe dual oven, 5-in-1 wall oven, dishwasher, and wine fridge. It is gorgeous!

I din't think I could love an appliance style as much as I do the Cafe series. The white with the bronze handles is beautiful in our space. It has great features such as filling water using ounces and can heat water for hot beverages. The inside can hold as much as our 40" wide unit it replaced. The freezer on the bottom is great for reaching things. This also holds quite a bit of frozen items. We recently purchased the counter top oven in the same colors and are planning to purchase a range. Great appliances.

We bought this Cafe fridge for our new construction home and love it! It is very spacious inside. We have another fridge in the garage but haven’t had to use it much since there is so much space in this one. The water and ice dispenser works great. I also love the fact that you can get hot water out of the dispenser. I have not seen this before in another fridge and thought it was a nice touch. It takes a couple of minutes for the water to heat up but you can select what you need the water for (tea, soup, hot cocoa, warm, or custom temp). The freezer drawer is also very spacious and has several compartments inside. It also has Wi-Fi capabilities. I get notifications when the hot water is ready which is great! The fridge is very attractive. I highly recommend it for anyone looking!

Beautiful design and a good sized refrigerator and freezer with several arrangement options. While we love the ice & water dispenser on the outside door v inside the unit, it doesn't make enough ice for our family. Also, the gasket around the inside refrigerator door won't stay on as if it's too big for the door so that has to be replaced.

Love this fridge.... Don't love how I can still see little pieces of the green plastic still in the grooves of handles or inside the doors because of how it needed to be taken off when it was already installed and placed in my kitchen. But I do love how easy it was to connect this fridge to the wifi and how simple it is to use it in the app. All good qualities.

I really like the refrigerator. The beauty of it is complemented by many outstanding features, such as the hot water option. My only worry is that the LCD panel is not responsive enough. Pressing several times is necessary to select the desired option (LCD panel feels cheap). Other than that, this refrigerator is a work of art.

We have had the Cafe refrigerator for about a week. Looks wonderful. Love the amount of room it provides. The hot water is a wonderful feature for both coffee/tea/hot chocolate as well as baking/cooking recipes!! It is an added plus the Cafe was available in white! So far so great!!!

The refrigerator and freezer do their job. We messed up by ordering the hot water feature and sacrificed the second ice maker not realizing that the primary ice maker was so slow in producing ice and when it was full, couldn’t keep up with our demands.

I like my new refrigerator. However, I am concerned with the icemaker. On several occasions the ice produced gets stuck in the upper part of the ice compartment. I have to open it to release the ice so that it continues with the ice production.

It's a beautiful refrigerator, I have the stainless steel version. I wish it hid fingermarks better. The water keeps dripping from the water dispenser so that makes me concerned for water damage to my hardwood floors. Love the amount of space in this refrigerator & the style.

The refrigerator runs most of the time and is quite loud. Takes some getting used to. Other than that, it is a large, spacious good looking refrigerator. At 35" deep it sticks out of our cabinet 12" with the handles on. Had we known that I think we would have chosen a different one.

Great refrigerator with good feature using WiFi to heat up water. However, I would recommend going with the models that have the beverage as its own compartment with its own handle. Sometimes it’s inconvenient to open both doors to open the beverage drawer.

I had read so many different reviews of this model refrigerator and many were negative. However, I put aside my apprehension as we needed a large-capacity freezer and spacious refrigerator interior. Reviews warned it was "noisy," but I find it no louder than my quiet previous refrigerator. It is, in short, just what we had hoped for. Thank you, GE.

Love the capacity of the fridge. My only thing I wish was different was that I expected the water to be hot instantly. But I think that was my mistake and reading it incorrectly. New Cafe French Door

I love my new fridge. I replaced an almost 11 year old Cafe French Door Refrigerator that died with this. I like the newer configuration of shelves on the doors. My only complaint is that the plastic film that was covering the stainless steel on the doors is almost impossible to get out. There are small bits of plastic visible in the seams and I don't want to scratch the doors getting out these small pieces.

Love the look of the matte black, especially with the black handle set. Handle set cost too much, but wanted that look. Only had for 1 month, but so far everything works well. I like how the French doors need to be pushed shut. Makes it feel solid with the tight seal.

It's hard to believe it when I say this fridge could, but I'm not lying when I say it has improved the quality of our life in the kitchen. The amount of space, the arrangement of the drawers and shelves, the icemaker/ water feature in the door, the freezer space - everything has been so well thought out, that this is by far the easiest refrigerator we have ever owned. Even the temperature control has vastly improved our ability to keep food fresh for much longer than our previous fridge. Although its size did require a specific configuration of our cabinetry, I don't mind at all- it fits right in and doesn't seem at all overwhelming. The stainless finish is also beautiful.

Honestly, I had never thought that having hot water in a fridge would be such a boon, but it really is. Being able to set the temperature perfectly for a given tea is handy, and especially so when you're able tell the fridge from your app that you need that hot water soon. Will never get another brand of fridge but Cafe so long as they keep making them.

The only weak area and it’s minor, is ice machine, works fine, but ice pieces sometimes fly out on to floor (need to keep cup/glass close to the top) and can be slow to dump out.

So far the refrigerator has been really good. It holds a ton of food and looks really nice. The touchscreen is a little clumsy and setting up the wifi was also a bit odd through an app. My wife uploaded pictures to it once we found the USB slot. Instruction book was lacking in details. The major issue we have with it is the ice maker is EXTREMELY loud. We have never heard an ice maker so loud. Also, the left door (with the ice maker) doesn't stay open. It seems the ice maker is too heavy and the door closes on its own. The right door stays open fine. All-in-all a good buy so far.

Water dispenser shows you how many ounces are being dispensed. Nice feature! Also like the different handle options. Plan to order the brushed brass handles to match our sink faucet! Only complaint would be the shelf spacing inside. You cannot adjust the top and bottom shelves enough to fit a gallon of milk so you have to push the split shelf back in order to fit taller items. Other than that it is a great refrigerator.

I had decided on the cafe line but choosing the right refrigerator was difficult until I discovered the one with the hot water dispenser. We are avid hot tea drinkers. Now we have our first grandbaby and I use the hot water feature to warm baby bottles.The size of this fridge and freezer is also great. My only frustration is that the glass shelf right above the storage bins can't be removed for cleaning. Not that I can see anyway.

We really like the fridge. I had to turn the temperature lower than I expected to keep it cool, but it does the job. The hot water feature is awesome, and only takes a few minutes to warm up. I do wish there was better information published about the hot water feature though. For example, I thought it was instant hot water, which it is not. I also did not know it would only dispense 10 ounces of hot water at a time. Most of my cups are 16 ounces, so I have to heat the water twice. Despite that, it's still faster than using the tea kettle on the stove.

I like the way the fridge is organized and like the convenience of the storage on the door, with the drop down shelf. I wish the Hot Water dispenser went up to 212F (capped at 185F) and wish the deli drawer was two drawers, so I didn't have to open both doors to access it. But otherwise, I like the flexible shelving and the way the freezer is organized.

I love my new fridge! It has so many features I haven’t even figured out how to use them all! I can fit milk and juice on the door, which frees up space for my husband’s gallon jug of iced tea. It has so much room, I haven’t even filled it completely yet! (With two teen boys here, that’s a weekly event. My only complaint is regarding the doors. They take a little extra effort to shut, and do not completely open. (I have broad shoulders, so this can be an issue getting in there!) My handy hubby hasn’t figured out how to fix this issue. Especially with the left door. Overall, we are very happy!

The french doors do not open completely to allow the drawers inside to be removed easily. You have to open the doors, then lift them so they open just a tiny bit more to allow drawers to be removed for cleaning. It is a cumbersome and unnecessary design.

We’ve had the fridge for a few months now and have been extremely happy. The ice maker and dispenser makes consistently great ice quickly. The hot water dispenser has been perfect for making tea at the ideal temperature. Love the size of water dispenser cavity as it accommodates large water bottles, and the extending base supports the coffee pot. The fridge interior and freezer are all well designed and well lit. The doors open and seal great- considerably better than the Kenmore we replaced.

A very good refrigerator, but not perfect

We had an earlier (2013) model of this refrigerator and had to replace it when the water dispensing system stopped working and could not be fixed. While this newer model continues to be very nice, there are a few things I like less than on the original. The original contained an activated charcoal odor filter. This one doesn't. The water filter used to be in the edge of the door, making it very easy to replace. The current model puts the water filter up on the interior wall of the refrigerator, so replacing it will require moving contents of the adjacent shelf to access the and replace the filter, making it more difficult, The doors of the new model require a significant push to completely close, instead of closing easily. Maybe that's to ensure you can't almost but not completely close the door without triggering a warning, but it still means extra work is required every time we shut the door. The old water heating function used to give a time left before the water would be hot. Now, you just get a progress bar. None of these are major complaints, however. It's still a very nice unit. The hot water dispenser is the real reason we picked this unit.

What I love most about this fridge is that you can see everything. The deep shelves in the door allow you to store larger items like milk. Everything is wide enough that you don’t have containers hiding behind containers hiding behind containers. No one asks me where the Mayo is or if I’ve seen the leftovers from last night. I also love having the lower freezer with the drawer for pizzas and convenience foods. It’s such a huge difference compared to our old side by side. I bake a lot, so the hot water dispenser where I can set the temperature is great for not killing my baking yeast. I also like that I can dispense exact amounts. The look is great. We have the matching two oven range that we really like as well.

We bought this Cafè refrigerator as part of a package for our new home. So far we really like it. The matte black finish looks amazing. No finger prints and easy to clean. The water dispenser works great. No dripping! I like that the dispenser is recessed, not flush , so if you do spill a little water, it is caught by the drain and not down the front of the refrigerator. The ice maker is ok. It does tend to spit small ice chunks outside of the rim of the glass you’re filling. But it’s not a deal breaker. We don’t use the ice dispenser much anyway. This Cafè refrigerator is very quiet. Our previous one (Whirlpool) was super noisy. There’s lots of room in the pullout freezer. We are able to organize everything with no problem. The reason I gave it four stars is because the way the refrigerator is designed there’s not much room for tall items such as milk containers, juice, etc. there’s only space on one side for these tall items unless you remove a shelf on the other side, but then that limits shelf space. Fortunately it’s just my wife and I, so we can make do. Also the water from the door dispenser is not as cold as the bottled water inside the refrigerator. I wish it were colder. Overall we are very pleased with this refrigerator.

We really like to look of the product and the capacity is great for our needs but some of the features need to some further thinking. 1. Removing the drawers for cleaning should not require an advanced degree in spatial geometry and the users manual provided no information. 2. The pull out for the water dispenser is great, but the single unit at a time adjustment for the precision fill is painful. Also the doing a precision dispense should not require pressing the actuator. 3. Interactions with wifi devices i.e. Amazon Alexa, Google Home, could be greatly improved. 4. Adding photos to the display is a great feature, not being able to transfer them wirelessly is ridiculous. Really who has a USB drive anymore.

The touch screen did not work the date (10/4/23) it was delivered. Three weeks later it has not been fixed. Also, the water has a plastic taste even though many gallons have been run through the system. It appears to be related to the reservoir that holds the chilled water.

The bottom freezer came in with manufacturer defect due to an error on the encasing (see attached picture) and has the potential to cause injury due to its sharpness. This was expected on a product so expensive. The shelves appear very thin. The black color not as dark as shown on the company’s website. The volume of the hot water is too small. A variable volume sizes up to at least 3 cups would be more desirable. The lightning is great. The noise level was very low when the unit is running. The different drawers with humidity control is a plus. The display is great but the screen size is too small. The frig. capacity is great. The dispenser is too low. I had to return the unit mainly because of the defect. I am not too excited to buy it again.

A few things that I was very disappointed with. The quality of the refrigerator feels very cheap. Whenever I open the freezer, it feels flimsy and wobbly. The plastic inserts are solo flimsy and feel cheap. The the three buttons of “water, crushed, cubed” feel very cheap and you can see all of them move when one is selected. rate of water flow from the dispenser is anemically slow and takes forever to fill cups. Not sure I would purchase another product like this.

Solid - but no autofill seems like a huge miss

Overall it’s been solid. Good layout and looks nice. Impossible to figure out the photos option / upload although it’s something I don’t really care to have / need anyway. Biggest issue I have is - there’s no ability to auto fill anything with the water dispenser. The display reads out the amount of water dispensed in real time a “precise fill” seems redundant / useless and you have to keep the lever pushed in the entire time you’re filling. Wish I could set a volume I wanted filled and walk away while it fills and stops at the preset amount.

Short durability

Loved my GE Cafe refrigerator. But as soon as it hit the 5 year mark, things are starting to fall apart. The freezer is building ice and the evaporator broke. The parts are out of stock on GE website so now I am stuck with a non functional freezer that can’t be repaired. My prior GE lasted 20 years. Very disappointed.

We’ve had this refrigerator for 2 weeks now in our new build and it’s super loud. I’ve owned 10+ fridges in my life and none have made the noise this one does. It’s an annoying and high pitched hum, seems most noticeable at night. I can’t comment on the other features other than ice maker works as it should.

I like our new fridge ok but the space inside is poorly designed. I tried to move the shelves up and down but it didn’t help. There’s no room for taller bottles or pitchers. Main reason is because of the door dispenser. We had to buy this fridge in a hurry because our old one quick working. The fridges without a door dispenser (in a finish that matched our other appliances) weren’t available until February!! We couldn’t wait that long so we had to settle for a fridge we really didn’t want. Overall it’s a nice fridge. Works well. Looks nice in our kitchen. It’s just the space issue for us. But we’re getting used to it.

Refrigerator is okay. The shelves on the door doesn’t slow for much room to fit various bottles. The ice maker and water dispenser are my biggest struggle. I water comes out extremely slow and the ice machine is constantly jammed up that you can’t get ice. Freezer door seems to have issue staying closed if It is near full. Overall unit is very nice. Super quiet. Favorite feature is measured amounts of water, which is verified accurate. To do this better they should have just had you push a button once to fill the container to desired amount instead of holding in the dispenser. Also the slide out feature for the dispenser is a hit but it’s cheap material that sticks a bit when pulling out or pushing in, and will start to show finish degradation from harder water. For this price point they should made it all out of stainless and used a surer mechanism to slide the shelf out and back in. The hot water feature is once again a great idea but is terribly executed. It takes forever to heat the water up to full temp and then the most you get is 8oz. I can heat water faster, in greater quantities, and more precisely with my Breville water heater pitcher for teas. Bottom line, there are many great ideas on this unit that would make this five stars had they executed it better. The devil is always in the details.

The refrigerator arrived with a number of issues. Doors do not open or close as expected, but bind up in both directions. The freezer door does not properly open or close and the panel on the back was not properly attached. I have other Cafe appliances and have not witnessed such poor construction. I would not recommend this product given the cost.

I would rate this a 5 star when it was newly installed along with a whole suite of GE Cafe Line of appliances. Really like the hot water dispenser feature and other features this model has. Lots of refrigerator and freezer space. I'm giving it a 3 star rating because after 2 years the sealed compressor failed leaving us with no ice or freezer. The top part refrigeration was barely working. Tossed out $$ of food and was without ice or freeze for over 2 months. After trying for 2 MONTHS to get it fixed/serviced through GE and GE third party service company, GE finally agreed part was covered under 5 year warranty and was able to replace with same model. GE after service department/process and hold times needs to be improved!

Pros: Great ice maker. All in door! Probably best in industry. Very pretty outside and in. Good lighting. Quiet. Terrible organization in doors, both top and bottom interior. But worst part is the doors are as harder to close than a commercial walk in cooler. It's 2024 and gravity close should be standard. These doors take substantial effort. I have to get alarmed and walk back to re-close 50% of the time. Thank god for the loud door alarm. WiFi is good because I guess I need to be buzzed on my watch when the door is open. I'm getting trained but I am used to smart and simple. Wife and I are talking about returning it.

Large Doors

We purchased this refrigerator in an emergency because our prior one had stopped working so we did not get to see this in person before we bought it. We brought it home, and the doors are substantially larger than our prior refrigerator even though that it’s the same layout. The refrigerator does not fit in the space even though it’s the same cubic feet because the doors are so large they hit the wall. The doors, including the freezer are very hard to open and require a bit of force to close them as well. I downloaded the app, thinking that I would upload the photos through the app. However, once I went through the process, I found that you need to upload photos via a USB. Who has photos on a USB these days? I have not taken the time to look at the menu further on how to do so however, I can’t seem to even find a hole for the USB. The water dispenser is much lower than our prior refrigerator so the little kids are able to reach it which has made that convenient for us all. The precise fill and some applications are a neat feature.

This refridgerator is very nicely made. The problem is the lack of features and comforts. Yes it makes hot water, but you have to wait like 5 minutes for it to warm and you only get 10oz at a time. Yes it has precise fill, but doesn't have auto fill. I do not think it's worth the price as it might be more economical to spend half and get the same level of creature comforts.

The layout of this fridge is nice. Not sure of the benefit of wi-if (seems like a gimmick). Also, it was a real bummer trying to remove the protective film. It’s like GE assembled this with the film on - are we supposed to disassemble to remove? The LED lights are nice. Would be nice if owner could set time on Door Alarm (can be annoying). Think about cleanability a little more when you design products, especially in the kitchen…lots of cracks and crevices where parts come together on this fridge. QC on insulation foam is subpar (foam oozing out in several places around the door - see attached pic). Sorry to ding your NPS, but this is a significant spend for my family. Thanks for opportunity to chime in.

Stainless steel many ripples

I believe they need to go back to the drawing board and rethink the quality that they have chosen for the stainless steel. I had to send back one bc of it rippling on the edges. Recieved the second one, not as bad but still not up to par considering the price paid. It also shows every little finger or knuckle print placed on it. Impressive to look at when all shined up but for a family with children...I'd pass. It does provide ample space and the door bins are large. Lighting on inside is LED and is easy on the eyes after a long night. The freezer is nice ,big and the extra slide out drawer is very useful. I don't find that I use the hot water dispenser as much as I thought I would but it's a nice added bonus. All in all, laborious to keep clean on the outside but once opened stores everything nicely and keeps good temperature.

Not a long lasting refrigerator

I love reading reviews but so rare is it to find one where the user has owned the appliance for 5+ years, I have. My GE Cafe Refrigerator with water dispenser stopped working after only 4 years of use! The compressor stopped working to circulate the cold air to keep the refrigerator cold. After purchasing and installing a new one, it has stopped working again, 1.5 years later, along with the door sensor and water control also no longer functioning correctly. Had I known that this would happen, I would have bought a refrigerator with less gimmicks, like a hot water heater and just a box that kept food cold and frozen. So this is a warning to research other brands or models that are less likely to break so soon after purchase. I expected this refrigerator to last at least 10+ years.

Unit makes a tremendous amount of noise. Fan rattles very badly in the back. Tubing bundle That shows the water completely froze and icemaker/water dispenser stopped working. Has been two months and little response from local company where I bought it. Water maker is too slow for me to even use it. Other than that the unit looks stylish and there is lots of space inside. Overall major disappointment for a huge amount of money.

I used a calibrated meter to check the temperature of the unit because the cheap thermometers I had were telling me it was not getting cold enough, even though the actual temperature shown on the unit control showed it was. I like my refrigerator to always stay below 38° because it makes all my smoothies last over a week. My meter shows that the unit is consistently 5° higher than what the actual temperature says on the control screen. The first pic was taken after the unit stopped cooling, the second was taken 45 minutes later when the unit started again. This means I cannot get the unit below 39° and it will not start cooling until it is over 41°. See pics. I hate to go my "grandpappy" here but I had a Kenmore unit that had no problems with this and still works, I bought it in 2002. There are some people here saying the unit keeps their stuff "cold!!" others are saying the opposite. If everyone is correct then the problem lies with proper testing of the thermistors or the circuit board they go to is not properly spanned from one unit to the next. I am giving this 2+ stars because, even though it is pretty, it is failing to perform the job it was designed to do which is keep the items at or below the FDA recommended 40°. The freezer temperature matches perfectly at 0°. I will be making a service call after I determine my Cafe dishwasher issues. I also have to more items to check, an induction cooktop and a French door oven. All of these items were purchased in December of 2023.

This fridge is beautiful on the outside but don’t be fooled. The quality is that of any other consumer appliance manufactured in this era. We preordered this unit during our renovation, waited 5 months for it to arrive and were so excited. We’ve owned this fridge for less than 3 years and the main board and diverter valve have gone bad. The quality does not match the price with this appliance. Very disappointed, thought we’d get at least 5+ years from a brand like GE but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

Produce freezes. It was a super expensive fridge to have all the veggies and fruit freeze. Only have had 1 month and repair person said it was fine. Yet, I have to keep all my produce in my old fridge in the garage! It’s beautiful but not worth the money. I expected to spend that much to have a better product!

Unable to maintain temperature

2 years into ownership on this highly priced premium product. We are not satisfied. The fridge is unable to maintain consistent temperatures. Our food is regularly over 42-45 deg when we have the fridge set to 36. We monitor the temperature inside the fridge with 2 separate thermometers. One is a data logger I use for work which is submerged in water for consistent measurement. 2 fridge openings cause the temp to drift 8-10 degrees and it takes 8 hours to recover. It's unacceptable. In addition, the stainless always shows finger prints and smudges. It's impossible to keep it looking clean.

It works fine and looks pretty. However, the ice gets stuck. The buttons on the front stick. The heated water only fills a tiny cup and takes forever to heat! We bought it to match our other cafe appliances, but I wish every day that we had gone for the cheaper and more functional models we were looking at. The bells and whistles of the cafe fridge are not worth the extra money.

I don’t like this refrigerator at all. It is loud and the space inside is not well designed. I would not buy it again. I actually wanted the one above it, but was unable to get due to availability. For the price of this, I expected more

This unit is so noisy the fan noise is louder then the dishwasher when it runs, also this is a replacement unit the 1st was sent back unfixable after 3 service calls, when it comes to the are new kitchen this is worst decision in buying and trusting this Cafe appliance.

Leaked water from door when installed.

When installed leaked water from refrigerator door. Store we bought it from didn’t believe us (not a knock against GE). Eventually they sent GE repairman out who identified tubing to fill ice maker with water didn’t fit into water inlet valve. He ordered new water inlet valve and repaired problem a week later. Also, refrigerator doors are difficult to close. Typically when hands are full getting items out of refrigerator can push doors closed with elbows. Can’t do that with this refrigerator

Not impressed

I had a GE Profile fridge with same cubic feet. It was much more usable with side trays easily accommodating gallon sized containers to smaller jars. Also one tray not fitting at all. Hoping to be able to adjust drawers as they have gap that just causes mess/uses space. So far not impressed.

Compressor Quit Within 14 Months of Install

The compressor went bad after only 14 months of use. That is absolutely unacceptable for an appliance in this price range, or any brand new refrigerator for that matter. This is the 2nd appliance with major issues in our Cafe suite (the range needed a repair immediately) installed 14 months ago. We have enjoyed the look of the appliance and features, but those do not make up for a major repair needed in such a short amount of time.

Don’t do it! This is the 2nd of our brand new suite of GE Cafe appliances that needed substantial repair since install last October. Also, service through GE takes weeks if not months. Our family of 5 can’t function without a working refrigerator for that long. I will not be purchasing this brand again. That said, we did like the refrigerator when it worked. The hot water feature is nice, but takes a long time to heat. The water filters don’t last long, and cost about $50.

Bad workmanship

Three refridgerator is less than 2 years old and the compressor is bad. It is covered under warranty but getting GE to honor the warranty is like pulling teeth. Avoid it all.

This unit was purchased in July, 2023 delivered end of August. Was installed Mid September, and it has failed me already. Woke up to a puddle of water, a freezer that sounded like a lawn mower. The freezer door was closed, the fridge was still working and the power was still on. So yes I can confirm that the freezer broke already. Luckily the vendor is getting me a new one, rather than deal with getting this replaced.

We have had of these refrigerators in 5 months. The first one only lasted 3.5 months, the second never even got cool and was deemed "dead on arrival", and we have had the 3rd plugged in for about 3 weeks. Fingers crossed 3rd time's a charm, but we should have NEVER had to go 46 days without a refrigerator when we purchased this brand-new GE Cafe refrigerator. Very disappointed, and hope this one will last, but I don't have a lot of confidence in the product. Would not recommend purchasing.

Nice features. However broke wirhin the first week. GE’s solution was to fix and claim to have done so after 5 tech visits and 4 different parts ordered, although we told them we wanted a replacement. No one from GE had called to see whether we’re satisfied, so take that for what it’s worth.

Great showroom piece, not for household use. 1. White mate finish is so delicate, it only survives mildest soaps 2. To clean a spill in or under drawer, Heavy doors need to be unscrewed pain in the ....... to clean.

This is the second cafe of this model. First one delivered was dead on arrival. Ice machine on the second refrigerator makes about 12 cubes of ice every 6-8 hours. Happy the store we purchased from is allowing us to exchanged the model out for something completely different. I'm sure Cafe makes great refrigerators, this model is not one of them.

Control panel was replaced 4 days after purchase, not cooling correctly. Ice cube dispenser only works sporatically. This refrigerator is less than 1 month old!

Compressor issues and terrible service times

Purchased this fridge in May of 2022 for a kitchen renovation and had it installed in September of 2022. After working great for a few months, the compressor failed in May of 2023, just out of warranty. Tried to schedule an appointment with GE through the online service portal, which was promptly canceled saying they couldn't come to diagnose a no-cool issue for 2 weeks. So 2 weeks later and purchasing a spare fridge to prevent all our food from spoiling, GE tech arrives and says the compressor is broken and needs to be replaced. Wait another 2 weeks for parts to arrive and have them installed. After the install, the fridge works most of the time but is very loud. When we first bought it, it was whisper quiet and now it just sounds like boiling water all the time and the compressor noise is significant. Called GE to have it serviced again for the noise, waited 2 weeks for the tech to come out, only to have him put some tape on the cooling lines and leave. Didn't help the noise and have been told this is now considered normal operation. Tried to have a tech come out again to document the issue and report back, but had the tech cancel saying there was nothing he could do. So now I'm stuck with a fridge that makes a lot of noise and sometimes doesn't cool properly and there is nothing that can be done because its considered "normal". For such an expensive fridge I expected to not have these issues and am incredible unhappy with the product and the service that has been provided. These seems to be a common theme with many of the resent reviews here.

Bad value for the Money, not working,

Bought this as part of the new home appliance CAFE set. Fridge makes too much noise. It is programed to make water filter change every 30 days. Filter is too expensive with RFID (GE is too greedy on this design). No generic filter will work. Its just been 6 years, fridge already stopped working.

I have the LARGER \Cafe model. The crisper drawers are not removable for cleaning due to the doors do not open wide enough. This is the poorest configuration I have ever seen. I was told I have to take the glass out to clean any spills that happen along the rims and wipe the drawers out. Not very sanitary! (This is NOT the counter depth style). I’ve only had this less than a year and wasn’t even used for 6 months over winter. Sad! I would return it if I could!

Arrived with damaged doors

Waited 6 weeks for this fridge and it arrived with dents and scratches on both doors. New doors were ordered, which also came damaged. Second set of replacements 1 of 2 doors was damaged. I now have a total of 6 (5 damaged and waiting in my garage for pick-up) doors 2.5 months after my initial order was placed. What a pain in the you-know-what! For the cost I should not have to be put through this inconvenience and should probably start charging GE for storage space!!!

L this refrigerator is a huge disappointment. I have had it for less than three years and this is the third time I’m having to get it serviced. Everything in the refrigerator and freezer had to be thrown out for the second time. I’m not sure if I want to fix it or throw it in the trash. I wouldn’t even put it at the curb - I’d hate for someone else to be stuck with this refrigerator. This product is truly a disgrace and you should be ashamed of it.

35 years ago we bought a GE refrigerator. The compressor went right after the warranty ran out. My husband sore he was hold never buy another GE appliance. Here we are 35 years later. We needed all new appliances and I loved the look of the GE Cafe. 5 months later the refrigerator stopped working and it was the compressor. I lost all my food and medication that I need to keep refrigerated. Needless to say my husband and me are not happy

The first refrigerator didn't work -- at all -- and we spent the Christmas holiday for three weeks waiting for a replacement. This is on top of a GE dryer that died after a couple of weeks, waited for a couple of months for a new electronic board, which failed after a couple of weeks, and waited again for a couple of months for a total dryer replacement. GE used to be a respected brand with a solid reputation, but we regret our purchases . We will NEVER buy GE again, and look forward to telling everyone we know about our experiences with your shoddy appliances.
