Gathering the reviews
We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.
Calculating the average
Averaged across every source we found (Amazon, AJ Madison, and other retailers). Each source counts in proportion to how many ratings it has, so a store with thousands of reviews moves the number more than one with only a handful.

What owners talk about most
“I've had the fridge for two weeks now and I'm pleased with how it's performing. I was disappointed that it has wire shelves as I was under the impression that all shelves were glass. It's a bit noisier than my old fridge but nothing that I can't live with. All in all, good!”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet. See the spec FAQ below for the official numbers.
This model has 18 cubic feet of total capacity and is designed to maximize storage in a smaller footprint. Reviewers consistently praise the spacious layout with large fruit and vegetable drawers, flexible shelving, and wide door shelves that accommodate various items effectively.
No, this model does not include a light in the freezer compartment. Multiple reviewers noted this as an unexpected omission for a full-sized refrigerator and would have preferred one for easier visibility when accessing frozen items.
This model is designed for standard indoor kitchen use and may not perform reliably in unheated garages or outdoor environments. Reviewers who attempted to use it as a backup refrigerator in heated garages or uncontrolled temperature spaces reported that the freezer struggled to reach proper temperatures.
While most reviewers report that the refrigerator keeps food adequately cold, some have experienced inconsistent temperature control—particularly with the freezer not reaching or maintaining proper freezing temperatures, or the fridge becoming too cold. A few owners also noted freezer icing problems that required service calls to resolve.
Most owners report good build quality, but a small number experienced issues within the first few years—including compressor failure, cracks in the door exterior, and gasket seals coming loose. These appear to be isolated incidents rather than widespread problems, though they suggest some units may have defects.
Yes, this model is well-suited for apartments, tiny homes, and smaller kitchens. The 18 cubic foot capacity and compact footprint make it an efficient choice for individuals or couples, and reviewers consistently praise its ability to fit well in tight spaces while still offering practical storage.
This model does not come with a built-in ice maker. However, reviewers note that an aftermarket ice maker can be added, though compatibility with existing units may vary depending on plug type and design.
Most reviewers describe the refrigerator as quiet or very quiet during normal operation. However, some owners noted that the freezer can make occasional annoying noises, and a few reported the compressor fan is noticeably loud when running, requiring attention to airflow to prevent items from freezing unintentionally.

What Owners Say
56 ratings
I bought this one to replace a former Whirlpool that I had since 1963 which stopped working. Would give a 5 but want to wait some time to see if it continues to perform.
It took a while for it to cool off. The freezer vent was hard to find, but once I got it set correctly the temperature came down. I like the large fruit and vegetable drawers. The 18ft is plenty big for the two of us. I like the freezer on top so I don’t have to stand on my head…
Was in the mobile home I purchased keeps food cold
This is a good refrigerator plenty of room for all my needs.
I bought this a month ago and am very happy with my purchase . Whirlpool has become the brand I depend on when buying appliances.
