Whirlpool 36 Inch Side-By-Side Refrigerator WRSF5536RV

This side-by-side refrigerator offers 28.41 cubic feet of total capacity. Reviewers consistently praise the spacious layout, noting that the design maximizes storage on both the refrigerator and freezer sides, with adjustable shelves and multiple drawers that make organization easy.

The ice maker produces good-quality, smaller square ice cubes and crushes ice well according to most reviewers. However, a recurring issue is ice dispenser jamming or clogging, which requires manual intervention to clear. Some units have also experienced complete failure or leaking from day one. Ice production speed is generally adequate, though one reviewer with a family of five noted it struggles to keep up with high demand.

The refrigerator features a sleek stainless steel finish that is fingerprint and smudge resistant, with modern styling that reviewers find attractive. The side-by-side layout includes larger doors and excellent interior lighting throughout both compartments, making it easy to see items at the back. The design maximizes usable space with adjustable shelves and multiple drawers.

Most units perform well, but a small number of owners have experienced significant issues within the first few weeks or months, including compressor failure, water leaks, and dispenser malfunctions. Some reviewers received replacement units after defects. While the majority report satisfaction, early defects do occur in a minority of cases, so warranty coverage is worth reviewing.

Owners who switched from French-door refrigerators report preferring the side-by-side design because items are more visible and easier to access without bending over or reaching deep into drawers. The freezer side is easier to organize and retrieve items from, and you're less likely to forget food items since shelves are visible. The layout works particularly well for people of shorter stature who can easily reach the top shelf.

One reviewer noted that the shelf and door bin spacing options are limited—either very tall or very narrow—making it difficult to find the right balance for their needs. The rounded corners on door bins also reduce usable space. Most other reviewers are satisfied with the storage flexibility, but if you have specific spacing requirements, it's worth checking the shelf configuration options.
