Whirlpool 15" Freestanding/Built In Undercounter Ice Maker WUI95X15HZ

Owners consistently praise the ice quality, with many reporting that it produces clear, uniform, square-shaped cubes that don't stick together and work well for beverages and cocktails. Multiple reviewers compare it favorably to previous ice makers they've owned, noting the clarity and consistency of the ice.

Reviewers report that the unit produces ice very quickly, with some noting ice was ready within 30 minutes of installation and others mentioning it fills the bin rapidly and keeps up with regular household use and entertaining. A few reviewers noted it took about two days to initially fill the bin when first installed.

Noise levels are mixed: some owners report the machine is relatively quiet or quieter than their previous ice makers, while others note it produces noticeable noise during ice production and dumping. A few reviewers specifically mention loud water-filling sounds. Most who comment on noise still rate the unit positively overall.

Multiple reviewers report easy installation, with some noting the unit fit perfectly in their existing space and came with necessary components like the sump pump. Delivery and installation services were praised by several owners. The compact 15-inch size is described as ideal for under-counter placement in kitchens and bar areas.

While many owners report satisfaction after weeks or months of use, a notable pattern shows some units failing within 2-5 months, with issues including pump failure, motor stoppage, and complete malfunction. Several reviewers mention this is their third or fourth ice maker in 10 years, suggesting durability concerns. Service response times have been slow for some warranty claims.

One reviewer noted that the unit lacks a basic pause or stop control for ice production—it continuously makes ice and cannot be paused, which means ice will melt and the machine will keep refilling the bin even when not needed.

The unit comes with a sump pump for draining excess water. A built-in water filter slot is included, but the standard filter is no longer pre-installed and must be purchased separately as an optional accessory. Some reviewers wish a filter came included.

Opinions on value are divided. Several owners feel it is worth the investment and appreciate buying directly from Whirlpool for savings. However, multiple reviewers note the unit is expensive—more costly than some full refrigerators with ice makers—and question whether the price is justified given durability concerns and the fact that the design has remained largely unchanged over many years.
