Gathering the reviews
We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.

Averaged across every source we found (Amazon, AJ Madison, and other retailers). Each source counts in proportion to how many ratings it has, so a store with thousands of reviews moves the number more than one with only a handful.

What owners talk about most
“We bought this at the end of May and really like it. We had a side by side refrigerator and this french door replaces it and is very roomy and easy to see all the items. We also like the middle drawer that can be used for various items. The freezer section is also very roomy.”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet.
Reviewers consistently praise the flexible middle drawer (which can be set as refrigerator or freezer), the pull-out freezer drawers that keep items organized and visible, and the overall spacious 26 cubic foot capacity. Many owners highlight how the middle drawer eliminates the need to open the main refrigerator section for frequently accessed items like cheese, lunchmeat, and beverages, and appreciate the fold-back shelf for taller items.
Several reviewers report ice maker failures or malfunctions, including units that stopped working within days of delivery, freezing up, leaking, or producing excessive ice that spills when drawers are pulled out. While many owners report the ice maker works well initially, the pattern of early failures and slow ice production in some units suggests this is an area where quality control issues have occurred.
Several reviewers report that the compressor and fan produce noticeable noise when running, with some describing it as loud or comparing it to an airplane. A few owners mention a known manufacturing issue where the fan can freeze, causing loud operation that requires periodic unplugging to resolve. Most reviewers do not mention noise, but for those sensitive to appliance sound, this may be a consideration.
The refrigerator includes prep and store bins on one of the door shelves. Several reviewers find these bins less useful than a traditional shelf and would prefer standard shelving instead. Some owners have removed the bins to use shelves from older models. The design of these bins is a matter of personal preference—some find them handy for organization, while others feel they waste space.
A few reviewers report that the upper refrigerator doors swing open too quickly and bounce open, and that the bottom freezer door slides hard. One reviewer notes the door swings fast and does not stop at a reasonable position. Most reviewers do not mention door operation issues, suggesting this may affect some units more than others.
One reviewer noted that no water filter was included with the unit, so you may need to purchase one separately if you plan to use the water dispenser. Most other reviewers do not mention what accessories or filters come with the refrigerator.
Several reviewers note that the ice maker produces smaller ice cubes and does not make ice as quickly as they would prefer, particularly for households that use a lot of ice. A few owners supplement with additional ice containers in the freezer. One reviewer mentioned wishing for more ice capacity overall. However, most owners are satisfied with the ice production for typical household use.
Reviewers report mixed long-term reliability. Several owners praise Whirlpool's durability, with some noting previous models lasting 28 years or more, and a few have purchased multiple units of this same model and remain satisfied. However, others report compressor failures, freezer defrost issues, and early component failures within the first few months. A few owners experienced major problems that required replacement units.

What Owners Say
164 ratings
The Whirlpool refrigerator is exactly what we expected with great installers who were friendly and prompt.
Not happy with bins. Don’t like containers!! No dividers for middle draw. Seems almost too cold! Shelf’s aren’t right, really no room for big dishes
Better quality was expected for the high price. Water still dribbles after filling cup. Noisy ice maker.
I absolutely love this refrigerator. There is so much more room in it than my review side by side. The drawers are great!
Mostly love this refrigerator . The only thing I don’t like is on the inside right door the totally wasted space with the stupid containers. I’d prefer to use this space for other things. I had a refrigerator like this before and miss the use of that door space.
