Samsung 28 cu. ft. Smart Side-By-Side Refrigerator RS28A500ASR

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior and flexible layout. The side-by-side design with wide door swings provides excellent visibility and access to food at multiple levels. Adjustable shelves make it easy to arrange groceries at desired heights, and the freezer compartment is large enough for substantial storage, though a few reviewers wished the freezer were slightly larger.

The ice maker is located inside the freezer rather than in the door, which preserves interior shelf space and prevents the bulky appearance of traditional top-mounted units. Most reviewers report the ice maker works well and appreciate this design. However, a few owners note that ice can stick together and require weekly emptying, and some report occasional frost-bridging or jamming issues.

Owners report excellent and consistent cooling performance that keeps food fresh for extended periods. The multi-vent cooling system maintains stable temperatures without constant cycling, and vegetables and fruits stay fresh longer in the crisper drawers. A few reviewers note that the freezer can run cold enough to freeze produce even at the 40-degree setting.

The refrigerator features a sleek, modern appearance with a handle-free, flush design that fits counter-depth spaces beautifully. The stainless steel finish is fingerprint-resistant and easy to clean. Most reviewers love the premium look and how well it integrates into contemporary kitchens, though the counter-depth design does add valuable floor space in tight kitchen layouts.

Most owners report that the refrigerator runs very quietly. However, a couple of reviewers mention a loud humming noise associated with the ice maker, suggesting that while the unit is generally quiet, the ice-making function can occasionally produce audible sound.

The refrigerator includes a bright, touch-friendly display with clearly labeled icons for easy temperature adjustment. Wi-Fi connectivity allows remote monitoring and control via a mobile app, and the unit integrates with Samsung devices and voice assistants like Alexa and Bixby. Owners appreciate the accessibility of these controls and the convenience of checking inside the fridge or adjusting temperatures from their phones.

Most owners are satisfied with the interior layout and shelf flexibility. However, some note minor limitations: the crisper drawers can flex and stick when fully loaded, spilled liquids can seep under glass shelves and require shelf removal to clean, and certain items like tall pitchers or gallon milk jugs may not fit due to shelf height constraints. The refrigerator also lacks a dedicated deli bin or butter compartment in the door.

Owners report strong long-term reliability, with many praising the unit after years of ownership. Several reviewers have owned the model for 4+ years with no issues, and many describe it as a dependable, energy-efficient appliance that offers excellent value. One notable issue reported is that the water filter reset light may not reset automatically after changing the filter.
