What owners talk about most
“I have had this refrigerator for 2 years and it works wonderful. The only thing I am not thrilled with is the dispensed for ice and water. It is too easy to confuse the ice selection with the water selection. Use to the old style where you knew which was ice and which was water”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet. See the spec FAQ below for the official numbers.
This French-door refrigerator offers 28 cubic feet of capacity with dimensions of 35.8 inches wide, 69.8 inches tall, and 36.3 inches deep. Reviewers consistently praise the spacious interior and flexible compartment design, noting it provides ample room for families and the layout of shelves and drawers is well-thought-out.
The refrigerator features a side-mounted ice maker and water dispenser that most owners find convenient and appreciate. However, several reviewers report that the ice maker occasionally freezes into hard chunks and requires manual breaking apart, and some note the ice and water selection buttons can be confusing. A few owners also experienced ice maker clogs or failures, though these appear to be less common than compressor issues.
This model has a significant recurring issue with compressor failure. Multiple reviewers report compressor problems occurring between 2 and 6 years of ownership, with some requiring multiple repairs or replacements. Several owners also experienced failures of related components like condensers, evaporators, and ice makers. While some owners report trouble-free operation for 5+ years, the pattern of compressor failures is substantial enough that it represents a genuine concern for long-term durability.
The compressor is covered under a 10-year warranty; however, multiple reviewers note that labor costs for replacement are not covered, and other components that fail alongside the compressor (such as condensers, evaporators, or PCB boards) are typically not covered. Some owners report having to pay significant service fees even when the compressor replacement itself was warranted, making the warranty less valuable than it initially appears.
Several reviewers report that the plastic components feel cheap and thin, with some noting that the air filter housing broke during normal removal. Additionally, multiple owners mention that the refrigerator has limited shelf space for tall items like wine bottles or milk jugs, and some report various operational sounds. However, other owners appreciate the modern design and practical layout, so experiences vary.
Most owners report that the refrigerator maintains proper cooling when functioning normally. However, a few reviewers experienced cooling failures or inadequate temperature maintenance, with one noting the unit did not keep meats fresh. One owner also reported a frozen evaporator that was resolved by defrosting. These cooling issues appear linked to the broader compressor and component failure pattern rather than a design flaw in the cooling system itself.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, flexible compartment design, and convenient water and ice dispenser. Many highlight the modern appearance and practical layout of shelves and drawers. Several reviewers also note that the refrigerator performs well when functioning properly and appreciate the ease of filter changes and interior lighting. The overall consensus among satisfied owners is that it is a feature-rich, well-designed appliance.

After 4 yrs I had to have major repairs done. This is why I’m not giving LG 5 stars.
I bought 1 week looking nice and work well made ice very fast i love it
We bought this in 2018 and have no regrets. The compressor just went out, but it was covered by the original warranty so there wasn’t a problem. We love the space this appliance gives us and the design of the compartments. The ice maker/water dispenser works perfectly and we…
Working great for the last 5 yrs. Recent cooling problem was caused by iced up evaporator and after defrosting with a hair blower, everything is back to normal with adequate cooling and freezer temperatures and very quite linear compressor.
It works as expected. I like the ice maker on the side.
