We bought this in 2018 and have no regrets. The compressor just went out, but it was covered by the original warranty so there wasn’t a problem. We love the space this appliance gives us and the design of the compartments. The ice maker/water dispenser works perfectly and we are more than satisfied. All in all a very good purchase.

Excellent refrigerator for my household

Working great for the last 5 yrs. Recent cooling problem was caused by iced up evaporator and after defrosting with a hair blower, everything is back to normal with adequate cooling and freezer temperatures and very quite linear compressor.

My honest thoughts

We bought the LG LFXS28968S almost 2 years ago at a scratch/dent store, and I LOVE the space inside more than any other feature. A minor inconvenience is that the icemaker is very low capacity. I simply empty the icemaker bin into the drawer bin during higher demand, and we always have enough. We recently experienced our first "problem" as the icemaker tray was not automatically dumping the ice. It was a simple fix - just unplugged it while cleaning behind, then plugged it back in and it works perfectly. Did I mention I really love this machine? Maybe I should have given it 4 stars due to the ice capacity, however if it were larger it would take more refrigerator space.

I bought this last summer for our kitchen so that we could put our older LG 3 door refrigerator in the garage to use there. While we are mostly happy with this new LG, we honestly like the older model better. Differences we don't like are that the new one doesn't have. For instance, an adjustable temperature for the large tray (which I call the deli tray). I often like to change the temp for the type of food I put in this drawer, i.e. meat, cheese, fruit tray, or breads. There are things that I like better on the new refrigerator, such as the outside water/ice dispenser, and that the ice make is not located in the upper door which allows for more room in the doors for condiments, etc.

Good, not great. Terrible ice box design.

We have owned this product for about 3 years now. Like the design, and layout of the product. When it is working, we are quite happy with it. We've already had to replace 3 parts, including the compressor as our Freezer was not staying frozen. Also as mentioned in many other reviews, the ice maker gets frozen and you have to manually break apart some of the ice for it to fill up the contained- it does not hold a lot of ice.

Purchased about 10 months ago; am pleased with LG and my refrigerator. I like the consistency of the operation, the ease of air and water filter changes, ease of rolling out, size, interior lighting. Two items need addressment: LG did not offer white exterior finish at purchase time and the ice reservoir clogs up at each end. I would rebuy this product( but prefer white) compared to my last refrigerator( your neighbor across the street).

I bought my refrigerator 3 years ago. I have enjoyed it. A few months ago my ice maker stopped working. I called LG after trying to help me, the employee decided to use my extended warranty. After repair man came and fixed the ice maker, I told him refrigerator was always so quiet but now noisy. He checked the freezer and said the coprocessor needs to be changed. I’m thankful my husband got us and extended warranty. I have had other brand refrigerators and never had this problem. I think quality control needs to be improved.

Almost perfect

Almost everything is perfect - ice maker works as advertised and when the ice does clump a bit, its easy to break it apart and all is well again. Temperature settings are on the money and the frig seems to be quite efficient. Only one issue we've found - shelf adjustability could be better - the shevles must be at the same position across the width of the refrigerator which makes some shelves to narrow for tall bottles. Also the shelf depth means a lot of food can be stored but its behind others so it can easily be overlooked.

Compressor Repair

I bought this fridge in early 2019. In 2023 the compressor failed. LG repaired and the refrigerator and replaced the compressor at no charge to me. The fridge has functioned very well since the repair. I am very impressed LG. The process was cumbersome and took about 1 1/2 months to complete but we'll worth it!

We have had numerous service calls about the problem but it continues. the dispenser jams and I have to take it apart to make it work again. Hopefully they have preconfigured the unit for later models.

The tech was at my house on time, as scheduled. He came in look for the new parts and proceeded to do the repair. In a few minutes he had the old parts removed and installed the new ones. After activated the water to the fridge, he checked for leaks inside and behind the fridge and completed the job. In and out in a heart beat.

We've had this LG since Sept. 2020. We love the side by side features and the freezer. The bottom line is it's extremely independence. We don't know if it's going to run for 3 weeks or 3 months. We've had 3 compressors installed. The last tech put a large scratch/deny in it when it was moved in/out against the countertop.

Nice fridge though slightly annoyed

This fridge has great space and overall has very good features. I bought it because the water and ice maker were only on the door and the rest of the fridge and freezer are wide open. There are two things that keep me from thinking this is the perfect design. 1) There is a large glass main shelf over the two produce drawers. At the back of the shelf is a slot that receive a plastic piece that runs along the back of the fridge. My shelf keeps shifting forward ever so slightly and falling off the back track. The shelf then bows under the weight of the items on the shelf. There needs to be some sort of snap\clip to keep the shelf firmly in place. I may need to add some tape to keep it from moving around, which is a bit disappointing. 2) This one is very nit picky, but I wish the deli drawer was slightly taller. We put a lot of our random stuff in ours and a large tub of Philly cream cheese is about a centimeter or two too tall to fit in it. An alternative would be to use the shallow shelf on the right door, but it is way at the top and the kids can't reach it. If one could rearrange those shelves (you can't) and put the small one at the bottom, it would also solve our problem.

All the tape on the veggie drawer was not removed and I couldn’t open the drawer. I ended removing the glass shelf to reach and remove the tap to free the drawer. The refrigerator has good after that.

LG French door 28cu ft fridge is great

We purchased the fridge in September and installed in February (kitchen remodel fell behind). Fridge was easy to move and install. Great space and very versatile with shelving format. Door has cracked in the first month of use. We called into LG and customer support had a repair company out same day. New part was ordered and installed in a week and it is good as new. Great support and a great product.

Love this fridge

I've wanted a new fridge for a long time. Researched and found the LG was highly recommended. Plenty of room and love the freezer on the bottom. Very happy with this purchase. The only downside was the doors needed to be removed to fit through my door. It's really heavy, but a beautiful fridge. Love the black stainless steel.

We have had this appliance a while. I redid my entire kitchen, and we selected the LG appliances because of the positive reviews we saw. An issue came up when we were out of town. The compressor stopped working. We lost a lot of food because we were not there when it happened. But we called LG immediately and they had someone out to replace it. It was a manufacturing defect in the compressor. Everything is working perfect again. I would recommend LG and would not hesitate to purchase from them again.

up until 6 weeks ago i had no problems or issues. LG downfall is their customer service Have a problem with water filter 'housing' I have been using genuine LG water filter replacements. Having replaced it approximately 4 times since purchased, it was 6 weeks ago that something went wrong. I say 6 weeks ago because warranty service has been scheduled that far out.

This was delivered a few weeks ago and we really like it! It’s interior capacity is very large. The only negative is I wish the ice plus feature would stay on and not turn off every 24 hours. We use a lot of ice and it’s a little annoying having to reset it every day to get more ice made.

Good refrigerator but needs a little more

I bought this for a new home, having had a Whirlpool previously. The LG doesn't seem to have adjustable shelves on the doors -- miss that feature. The ice machine does well and is small in the door but the design has the ice clumping where it is dropped so periodically have to shake the bin to get it to redistribute or it doesn't give ice. Freezer is generous size which is a plus. Also wish the collapsible shelve in the refrigerator could be locked in place. You can knock it and it will end up spilling food when the shelf retreats.

This is a great refrigerator with lots of space in both the upper compartment (refrigerator) and the lower compartment (freezer). The exterior water tap is convenient to use, and the filtration system provides great tasting water. Well designed appliance that looks good too.

We bought a 4 appliance package and the floor model was a 26CuFt, we were surprised to see there was this 28CuFt version and chose that one. We were looking initially for a 73/74' tall refrigerator but the price increase did not justify the purchase, this one is 70' tall but the inside is well designed for all the irregular shapes one may place inside. It has done great for us and like all its features.

I purchased this refrigerator a couple of months ago as part of 4 piece kitchen appliance package. Always owned a side x side refrigerator/freezer so going to a French door unit was new to me. Even though the cubic foot capacity is the same as my old side x side, there is a lot more usable space. The only recommendation I have is for more bins or dividers available for the freezer drawer. I went out and purchased some plastic bins to help me separate my food to make it easier to find things.

We have had our LG refrigerator for a couple of weeks and it is a huge upgrade for us! I love how it looks and there is plenty of room. I was worried I would be bumping into the island, but no issues. It is so easy to get the ice maker out to dump the ice in the bin to make more! I still can have my pictures on the side of the fridge since magnetic on the sides. Any spots wipes right off so far. Only thing is that even though I hold the cup under the dispenser when done getting water there seems to be a drop of water on the bottom. I think it mainly happens when opening/closing the refrigerator doors. Water tasted funny at first even though I ran the water through as directed. It did say at least 2.5 gallons, so I think it needed to be more since it is much better now. Still love it though!

Smart Fridge with Storage!

We bought this fridge with our home purchase and we love it. We've had multiple fridges in different apartments/condos before, but this fridge offers amazing features with intelligently designed storage. Water and Ice work great, the ice machine is also really easy to access and removeable in case you want bulk amount of ice for hosting an event or party. The storage is great as well. Multiple levels, adjustable shelving heights, both doors have side shelving for condiments, drinks, etc. with multiple levels and storage compartments in the freezer as well. The double doors is also a nice touch so we don't need to open the entire fridge to access what we want. We know which side of the fridge our items are on as well due to the wonderful storage. The fridge also has smart features, which connects to my phone so I know when filters need changing, I can adjust temperatures if we leave for vacation and won't be using the fridge, etc. It's a very nice feature to have.

This LG frig was a replacement of my former LG which was only about 8 years old. This new one has more visible drawers so that I can see the contents in my produce drawers more easily but the plastic drawers and shelves seem more flimsy. The deli drawer is not as high as the former one so tall containers that I used to put in there no longer fit. The ice maker bin is small so it holds only a small amount of ice. If you need a lot of ice quickly, it has an "ice plus" feature but don't count on it if you're having a party unless you can start storing ice several days in advance. The shelves are EXTREMELY difficult to remove and replace so if you have to shift shelves just prepare yourself for a bit of a struggle. Lastly, the ice cube selection (cubed/crushed) and water selection are all on the same selection key but dispense from different places so beware of placing your glass under the water outlet and expecting to get water if you have forgotten that the setting is placed on crushed ice! It's not a bad refrigerator, just keep in mind what you're getting for the price.

Manufacturers Defect

We bought this fridge back in 2019, and for a few years it served us well. Then about two weeks ago all of the sudden it stopped cooling and freezing entirely. I guess linear compressors have a shorter life on these. Thankfully after a lot of research I called them to see what they would do to help. Thankfully it was still under a warranty because of this defect. It took about two weeks for them to finally fix it after coming out to confirm that was the issue, and then ordering the parts.I guess they updated some of the components on it to prevent this from happening again. It’s been about two days since it’s been fixed, and it’s so far been operating great! I was also informed that because we lost food because of this LG issued us a check for the food we lost. So overall a good company to deal with with their products! Will keep them in mind for future purchases!

I've had the refrigerator for a while now. There are a lot of good features. The French doors allow access to anything in the refrigerator. You can basically see everything at a glance. The freezer is good also. Even full it slides in and out with ease. My one gripe is the ice maker. It's in the refrigerator door and the ice bin is so small that if I fill my 30 ounce there about 6 ice cubes left in the bin. There is an ice bin in the lower freezer that you can store ice in but it's kind of a hassle.

Plastics thin and cheap

Air filter housing broke off after first attempt to remove filter. Ordered new. If you have allot of tall items you don't want this fridge. Wine, milk etc not much places to store inside fridge. One small shelf that's it. And only because you slide back upper shelf. Both sides don't do this so limited. Cheap plastics abound in this unit. Ice freezes into hard rock balls in freezer door so weekly you must remove unit and shake it hard to break up ice or nothing will come out of door dispenser. It's beautiful to look at. The door in door add on is nice feature

It's working fine but ice freezes up into hard chunks in door. Have to break them up bi weekly. The filter housing when removing filter a piece of plastic broke off and now has to be replaced. Cheap plastic everywhere. Very poor quality plastic wise and it's all over. And it makes allot of different sounds. Not much tall items can go in and that's a big problem. Overall we would not buy again. It's not designed very functionally.

Now I have to choose between staying home on July 31st for someone to maybe call (not come and fix it ) or travel out of state for a death in the family. I like how I was able to turn off the ice maker and that it does not leave a lot of smudges/prints on the fridge like other materials.

I bought this Dec 22, 2022. So far it is nice in the inside. It is very bright and has a ton of space. The reason for 3 stars is that it doesn’t have an icemaker in the freezer. You have to take the ice in the refrigerator door, and poor it into the ice container in the freezer. I felt that this was very deceiving. Since it had an icemaker container in the freezer, I figured that there was an icemaker in the freezer. It does leak water when you use the icemaker on the door. I noticed that was a big complaint. I was going to return it and go with another brand, but low stock and the hassle made me keep it.

Poorly designed icemaker

On many LG refrigerators, there's a little sensor that notices when ice falls out of the ice tray. This ensures that the icemaker doesn't overfill and spill. On this particular model, they decided not to include that feature. The result? If your icemaker doesn't empty, it just sprays more water in there as if the tray is empty, resulting in water all over the place, leaking into the fridge and onto the floor.

This is a good refrigerator. My only complaint would be it’s ice making abilities and storage. This fridge makes very small ice cubes and it takes too long to replenish. The ice dispenser is constantly getting jammed. The jamming causes the internal ice tray to become dislodged and you will have to re-center it. If jammed the ice maker will not make ice. I have had some instances were I was unaware of a jam and the ice maker did not produce ice all day. I had to re-center the tray and had to wait 24hrs for a batch of ice to be made. Due to these ice issues, I will most likely not purchase an LG fridge in the future.

Good except…..

We have had this fridge for 2 weeks now. I love everything about it except the water dispenser. We followed all the set up instructions for dispensing filtered water and the water is GROSS. I have to run a gallon of water before the chlorine/plastic flavor is gone. At this point I’m running a gallon of water and then filling pitchers to sit on my counter for drinking. It is super frustrating. I even changed the filter thinking it may have been that but no improvement. The ice seems to be fine. We had an LG fridge equivalent to this one before that we’d had for 12 years and it finally died so we confidently purchased another one. I will definitely hesitate to do that again.

We've had this model 4 years. It starting icing up in the freezer and LG was quick to compare it. The compressor died a few weeks ago.Thankfully, it was under warranty. It's been replaced but the unit has been slow to get cold. All told, We've been thrilled with it. The storage compactly is great. Love the layout and the water/ice cube dispenser is a godsend. We are replacing all of our appliances with LG!

Our previous Refrigerator/Freezer was an LG French Door. We were very happy with it and had no reservations about purchasing another one. The new unit works great with one major exception. For some unknown reason, the right door has a detent (by design) that keeps the door from fully closing unless it is given an extra push. 2022 Model Not the Same

Ten years ago, we purchased an LG refrigerator and loved it from the start! Unfortunately, the compressor died and we were forced to replace it with a new LG because of space limitations. However, in the last 10 yrs, unfortunately, LG has made changes which we find just not as nice as our first one. The right door does not close conveniently. It must be physically pushed closed (slammed shut!). Although we have consulted w/LG and a certified LG repairman, "This is the way they make it.". A terrible design engineering plan! The ice and water dispenser tray has been shortened and beware! Water and ice come out quickly and for someone who is not accustomed to it, you can be sure that ice and water will end up on the floor below. There are is no butter shelf with a cover, no egg keeper, and only 2 vegetable and fruit compartments. Our older LG refrig had 2 sliding inside shelves--2022 model only has one. Even the water filter is more difficult to change. It looks to me that LG has unfortunately tried to cut costs in production and design features. Wish we had our old LG refrigerator back. Not happy with this newer model at all.

Water and ice tasted like plastic until I replace the stainless steel water line with a brass line. The good: it maintains the set temperatures with no issue. There's adequate storage space.

I push the reset button and the tray fills with water but that’s as far as it goes. The repair man came back and flushed the lines again but he said that’s a common problem with these refrigerators after the compressor is replaced. Purchased in December of 2018 & the Compressor needs to be replaced 5 1/2 years in. Granted there is a 10 year warranty, however for the compressor ONLY. All other parts that need to be replaced in order for it to work properly are not covered. What’s worse … the labor isn’t covered for the replacement of a WARRANTIED part. The PCB Board also needs to be reprogrammed or replaced as well due to the new compressor. So sad that I’ll need to purchase a new refrigerator because labor is too much for it to be worth it.

I had this for 3 years. Last year, the compressor stopped working and I had to throw away over $300 meat and chees products. When I called the company, they replaced the compressor at not cost to me. In the last 4 fours months, refrigerator is no Colling as it should. The food does not last for more than a week and even products such as salsa and yogurt go bad before the expiration date. In the last 35 years, this is the worst refrigerator I have purchased. I will never buy LG kitchen appliances again.

Nothing is made like it’s intended to last more than a week. The ice maker seal is crap and so the ice is always clumped up in the dispenser. The door shelves are not durable at all. We have already broken one with two grown children at home. It is NOT print proof. The whole set always looks like garbage because we don’t wipe it down every time we touch it.

have had this refrigerator a week, and cannot get the temperature below 38.5 degrees. It spends most of the day over 40 degrees, and this is before we have loaded any significant amount of food. A technician is coming to check it ( 5 day wait for that), and if he can't fix it we will return it. Disappointed because it was a replacement for an LG fridge that failed within warranty. I like the space and design, but it the optimum fridge temp is 37 degrees we are not getting there.

I bought this in 2018, and by 2022 the compressor gave up and required replacement.

Bought a Fridge two weeks ago. The next morning had a CLE error. Never would cool. Took two weeks with me asking everyday what the status was before I was told a repair person would be contacting me. Still no call on that and I returned and bought something different.

Would not buy again

We’ve had this refrigerator for almost 5 years. We have had a repair person out 4 times. Two to fix a rattle noise ,once because the switch that controls the water and ice in the door went out ,and the last time they replaced the compressor. LG should use better longer lasting parts. LG has the wrong serial number. I’ve tried to correct it three times.

Two problems in four years!

We bought our refrigerator in 2018. Within about a year the water dispenser was stuck on, it just kept running! I was able to figure out how to turn it off by reading the owners manual. A repair man had to replace the motherboard. Recently, while we were on vacation, The refrigerator just stopped working. We came home to warm milk and liquid ice cream. This time the compressor and the condenser had to be replaced. Fortunately, when we bought the refrigerator we paid to extend the warranty to five years. So, we did not have to pay for the repairs.

Disappointed

I bought this 4 years ago. The compressor failed. This is our second LG refrigerator. The first one’s compressor failed after 8 years. Although our newer refrigerator was fixed by LG, we were only compensated $150 for lost food in the refrigerator and freezer. Not nearly close to the value of the food.

Recall and never notified

I have had this for 4 years and registered it when I got it. I was never notified that there was a faulty compressor on all of these units and a billion dollar lawsuit. Needless to say my compressor went in 4 years. Even though it was repaired a week later under warranty I lost 400.00 worth of food. Supposedly they will only reimburse 200. There in for a fight.

LG fridge

I have had this LG refrigerator since 2019 and all of the sudden the compressor goes out. Let me just say if it wasn’t still under warranty I would have been livid. I would have been better off to just buy a new refrigerator but thank goodness it was covered with the warranty. I would also like to say this will be the last LG appliance I ever buy. I have not been impressed with the quality of the the appliances as a whole.

After just 1 1/2 years, my LG was repaired 5 times and finally stopped working all together.I love the features, but it never quite worked right. Will have to now replace but definitely not with another LG/

Less than 3 years old when it QUIT!

We were very happy with this LG refrigerator until it suddenly quit cooling altogether. Losing everything in the refrigerator and freezer was costly. There is apparently specific protocol for handling these refrigerators when the cooling systems quit before the 5 year mark so it seems it’s not uncommon. Thankfully we had an extended warranty.

Not a good fridge

This fridge is not even 4 yrs old and the compressor has already gone bad. Ruining all the food that was in the freezer and fridge. Been without a fridge now for over a week. Fridges just aren’t made to last anymore. The ice maker makes like 15 ice cubes in 8 hrs. Water leaks out from where the ice comes out. Overall not a good reliable fridge.

I bought this fridge in May 2018. We had the ice maker go out first then in 2020 was the motherboard. Now in 2022 they replaced the compress it it still won’t cool. Just unbelievable. Not worth the loss of food or the hassle.

Broken on first day

The first day we bought this refrigerator the door lights did not work. It was ultimately fixed by LG under warranty. The shelves are very cheaply made. They are sagging in the middle and left right shelves do not line up with each other when set to the same height. Shells do not roll out like my old LG refrigerator. Overall this refrigerator is much more poorly made than my original LG refrigerator from eight years ago
