Gathering the reviews
We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.
Calculating the average
Averaged across every source we found (Amazon, AJ Madison, and other retailers). Each source counts in proportion to how many ratings it has, so a store with thousands of reviews moves the number more than one with only a handful.

What owners talk about most
“Beautiful refrigerator, tons of space, we love the door compartments and the placement of the shelves. The only complaint is it’s loud— We can hear it running from the other room. It seems too loud for a new refrigerator. The ice making function is really loud. We turned it off.”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet. See the spec FAQ below for the official numbers.
Noise is a recurring concern in reviews. Many owners report the compressor, ice maker, and condenser produce noticeable humming, buzzing, whining, or high-pitched sounds that can be heard throughout the home. However, some reviewers describe it as running quietly or note they are satisfied with operation overall. If sound sensitivity is important to you, it may be worth testing in-store or confirming the return policy.
This model offers 20.9 cubic feet of total capacity and is praised by most owners for spacious, flexible storage. The bottom-freezer design makes it easy to access fresh food at eye level, and reviewers consistently highlight the generous door shelving, adjustable shelves, and well-organized drawers. Many note it holds more usable space than larger side-by-side models they previously owned.
Owners consistently praise the bottom-freezer layout for convenience and accessibility. Fresh food is at eye level, making it easier to see and reach items without bending or straining. This design is especially appreciated by older adults, people with mobility challenges, and anyone who prefers to minimize bending. Many reviewers note it is a significant upgrade from top-freezer models they previously owned.
Yes, this refrigerator includes an interior ice maker. Owners appreciate the convenience and built-in savings compared to buying ice. However, several reviewers note the ice maker can be quite loud when operating—some have disabled it due to noise concerns. The unit produces half-moon ice cubes.
Most reviewers report that shelves are adjustable, which is a positive feature for customizing storage. However, some note that shelves can bend or sag under heavy loads (such as a 12-pack of soda), and a few owners wish for split shelves or more configuration options. The interior layout works well for most, though some find certain compartments (like the cheese drawer) smaller than expected.
Several reviewers report that the door does not close automatically and requires a manual push to fully shut. Some describe it as swinging open to about half an inch and stopping, or swinging too far to the right. A few owners note the door alarm is helpful in alerting them when it is left ajar. This is a minor inconvenience but worth noting if you prefer automatic door closure.
This refrigerator uses approximately 572 kilowatt-hours per year. Several owners describe it as energy-efficient, and the compressor runs frequently by design to maintain consistent temperatures rather than cycling on and off. GE documentation supports this approach as more efficient overall.
Owners report that temperature control is reliable and consistent. The digital temperature controls are praised as easy to use and more convenient than older slider-bar designs. Most reviewers note the refrigerator keeps food properly chilled and frozen, though a few have experienced isolated issues with ice crystal formation or frost buildup.
