Gathering the reviews
We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.
Calculating the average
Averaged across every source we found (Amazon, AJ Madison, and other retailers). Each source counts in proportion to how many ratings it has, so a store with thousands of reviews moves the number more than one with only a handful.

“Happy with the product, it is easy to install. However I signed up for receiving one 6 month replacement filter but they keep wanting to send a new one every 3 months. I can't find any way to edit the frequency of the automatic shipments and it's difficult to find and get to the skip next shipment page.”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet.
How easy is it to install this water filter?Based on 6 owner mentions
Installation is consistently praised as simple and straightforward. Most reviewers report it takes just a few minutes—typically a twist-in/twist-out or screw-in/screw-out process with no tools required. The filter arrives well-packaged and ready to use.
Does this filter really improve water taste?Based on 5 owner mentions
Yes. Reviewers consistently report noticeably better water taste after installing this filter, with many noting the water is clearer, fresher, and free of odor. Several owners who tried off-brand alternatives report returning to LG filters because the taste difference is significant and the LG filter performs better overall.
How long does one filter last?Based on 3 owner mentions
The filter is designed to last 6 months under normal use. Reviewers confirm they get a full 6 months of reliable performance before needing replacement, and the subscription program is set to deliver replacements on that schedule.
Is the automatic subscription/renewal program reliable?Based on 3 owner mentions
The subscription concept is popular and saves time, but there are recurring issues with the website's subscription management. Multiple reviewers report difficulty changing the shipment frequency (e.g., from 3 months to 6 months) and trouble accessing the skip-shipment feature online. Customer service calls have not always resolved these issues promptly.
Will this filter fit my refrigerator model?Based on 4 owner mentions
Compatibility varies by model and age. While many owners report the filter fits perfectly, some users with older refrigerators have encountered fitment issues even when the filter is listed as the recommended part for their model. If you have an older fridge, verify the exact part number before ordering, as LG has redesigned some filters and discontinued compatibility with certain legacy models.
Is this an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) product?Based on 3 owner mentions
Yes, this is an authentic LG original filter. Reviewers emphasize that genuine LG filters outperform off-brand alternatives in both water quality and reliability, and note that OEM products are always preferable for appliance compatibility and performance.
Does the filter prevent clogging and ice maker issues?Based on 1 owner mention
Yes. One reviewer specifically noted that after using an off-brand filter that clogged their ice maker, switching back to the LG filter resolved the problem and has not recurred. The LG filter maintains consistent flow and does not cause buildup issues.

Needed a replacement refrigerator water filter. This was easy to purchase and a great price.
AqualadyOct 3, 2024 - Great product!
I had to purchase an off brand when I couldn’t find the LG version and it stopped up my ice maker. I have never had that issue with the LG brand. It works for a full 6 months! Very pleased with it!
Terri CountessJul 10, 2024 - Good Taste
Water tastes better. This filter is very easy to install. I’m wondering if it removes fluoride though?
Joyful and HappyOct 26, 2023 - Water tastes best with LG.
The original LG water filters make the water taste 10X better than those cheaper offbrand filters. I tried them and can attest to that fact! Stick with LG originals, you can't go wrong.
