This GE Appliances upright freezer offers vertical storage in a compact footprint. Measuring 28 inches wide, 62 inches high, and 32 inches deep, it fits well in kitchens, garages, or utility rooms where floor space is limited. The upright design provides easy access to frozen items with front-facing shelves and door storage, eliminating the need to bend down as with chest-style freezers. This freezer helps organize frozen foods while maintaining a smaller width that works in tighter spaces. The dimensions make it suitable for households needing additional freezer capacity without occupying excessive room.

Gathering the reviews
We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.
Calculating the average
Averaged across every source we found (Amazon, AJ Madison, and other retailers). Each source counts in proportion to how many ratings it has, so a store with thousands of reviews moves the number more than one with only a handful.

Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet. See the spec FAQ below for the official numbers.
How quiet is this freezer during operation?Based on 14 owner mentions
Multiple owners report the freezer operates very quietly—many describe it as nearly silent or unable to hear the compressor running. This quiet operation is one of the most consistently praised features across reviews.
Does the freezer have a temperature display on the outside of the door?Based on 11 owner mentions
Yes. The external temperature display on the door is a widely appreciated feature that lets you check the freezer temperature without opening it. Owners also note that having controls on the outside prevents food items from accidentally bumping into and changing the temperature setting.
What are the dimensions and how much space does it take up?Based on 7 owner mentions
This upright freezer measures 28 inches wide, 62 inches tall, and 32 inches deep. Owners consistently report that the size is ideal for basements and garages—compact enough to fit in tight spaces while providing ample storage capacity.
Is this freezer frost-free and do I need to defrost it manually?Based on 3 owner mentions
Yes, this is a self-defrosting (frost-free) freezer, so you do not need to manually defrost it. Owners highlight this as a major convenience advantage over older freezer models.
How does the shelving and storage layout work?Based on 8 owner mentions
The freezer features adjustable wire shelves and a pull-out basket at the bottom, making it easy to organize and retrieve items. Owners appreciate the upright design with accessible shelving compared to chest freezers, and note that the wire construction allows even temperature distribution throughout the unit.
Is this freezer suitable for garage use?Based on 3 owner mentions
Yes, this model is garage-ready, meaning it can operate reliably in temperature-variable environments like garages and basements. Several owners specifically chose this model for garage installation and report satisfaction with its performance in that setting.
How quickly does the freezer reach the desired temperature after installation?Based on 3 owner mentions
Owners report that the freezer cools down quickly after installation—typically reaching the target temperature within a few hours. This fast cooling is noted as a convenient feature that allows you to start using it promptly.
What should I know about the alarm and temperature monitoring features?Based on 2 owner mentions
The freezer includes a door alarm and temperature alarm features. However, one owner reported that the temperature alarm did not sound during a power outage as described in the manual, only alerting after power was restored—which would not provide advance warning of food spoilage. If the alarm function is critical to your needs, you may want to verify the specific alarm behavior with the manufacturer.
