We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.

Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet. See the spec FAQ below for the official numbers.
Is this fridge suitable for small spaces like apartments, basements, or dorm rooms?Based on 6 owner mentions
Yes, reviewers consistently praise this compact fridge for fitting perfectly in tight spaces. Owners report it works well as a bedroom fridge, basement overflow, bar fridge, or kitchen counter addition, and many appreciate that the all-refrigerator design (no freezer) maximizes usable space.
How well does this fridge keep drinks and food cold?Based on 5 owner mentions
Reviewers report that this fridge reliably keeps beverages and food cold. Most note it reaches the desired temperature quickly (within 1 hour of plugging in) and maintains consistent cooling for drinks, produce, and overflow food items.
How long do these fridges typically last?Based on 6 owner mentions
Multiple owners report exceptional longevity with this brand. Several reviewers mention their previous Danby compact fridges lasting 8–18 years, and they repurchased the same model based on that reliability. This suggests strong durability when properly maintained.
Is the fridge quiet during operation?Based on 3 owner mentions
Yes, reviewers describe this fridge as quiet. Multiple owners specifically mention it runs quietly, making it suitable for bedrooms, living spaces, and other areas where noise is a concern.
Can the door be reversed, and are the shelves adjustable?Based on 4 owner mentions
Yes, the door is reversible and easy to adjust. Reviewers note that reversing the door opening is straightforward, and the interior shelves are moveable and flexible, allowing you to accommodate taller bottles and items or remove shelves for more space.
What should I know about temperature control and defrosting?Based on 3 owner mentions
Most reviewers report reliable temperature control and appreciate the auto-defrost feature. However, one owner noted that temperature can vary somewhat with the same setting, and another experienced ice buildup after 9 months despite the self-defrosting design—a rare issue but worth monitoring during the first year of use.
Is this fridge easy to set up and install?Based on 3 owner mentions
Yes, reviewers consistently report easy setup and installation. Multiple owners mention clear instructions, simple uncrating, and quick operation—some note it was ready to use within hours of delivery.
Why choose a refrigerator-only model instead of one with a freezer?Based on 5 owner mentions
Many reviewers specifically chose this all-fridge model because small freezer compartments in other compact fridges are often too small to be useful and waste valuable storage space. Owners appreciate having the extra room for beverages, produce, and overflow food instead.

ms b29Jul 18, 2024- Great little fridge!
This is a great little fridge for a small area or a bar. Good capacity and look! The only thing is the top is not finished like the old ones were, but that's a minor issue if you are just putting something on top of or under a cupboard.

Brand Background
About Danby
Danby is a family-owned Canadian appliance manufacturer headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, that has been producing refrigeration products since 1947. The company has carved out a distinct niche in the North American market by focusing primarily on compact and specialty refrigeration rather than competing directly with full-size kitchen appliance giants. Fridge.com currently tracks 75 Danby products, with the catalog heavily weighted toward space-saving solutions: 18 compact refrigerators, 14 chest freezers, 13 upright freezers, and 9 beverage centers represent the core of their offerings. The brand also maintains smaller selections of French door refrigerators, kegerators, and wine storage units. Among the most frequently monitored models in the Fridge.com database are the DBC117A1 beverage cooler and the DCF050A6WM chest freezer, reflecting consumer interest in Danby's specialty categories. With an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars across captured reviews, Danby positions itself as a value-tier option for shoppers seeking secondary refrigeration, dorm room solutions, garage freezers, or dedicated beverage storage without the premium pricing of larger appliance brands.
