“I have purchased 3 window air conditioner units and now a compact refrigerator. I have learned that these are quality products, made in North America and not overseas. The refrigerator interior is well designed with drink can holders in the door, deep shelves.”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet. See the spec FAQ below for the official numbers.
How quiet is this refrigerator?Based on 7 owner mentions
Reviewers consistently praise the quiet operation of this unit. Multiple owners report it runs so quietly they barely notice it's there, making it ideal for offices, bedrooms, and other noise-sensitive spaces. Several specifically note it's quieter than other compact refrigerators they've owned.
Will this fridge fit in a small space like under a counter or in a closet?Based on 4 owner mentions
Yes. The unit measures 17.7 inches wide, 26.9 inches tall, and 20.1 inches deep, making it well-suited for tight spaces. Owners report successfully fitting it under counters, in office closets, laundry closets, and other compact areas. Many purchased it specifically because it fits where a full-size refrigerator cannot.
How much can this fridge hold despite its compact size?Based on 7 owner mentions
Owners are consistently surprised by the storage capacity. Reviewers report it holds two 4-liter milk jugs with room to spare, accommodates numerous beverage cans and bottles, and features well-designed shelving and door storage. The interior layout maximizes usable space, with adjustable shelves to fit taller items.
Is the door reversible?Based on 1 owner mention
Yes, the door can be reversed. One owner reported it was easy to reverse the door to suit their space configuration.
Does this model have a freezer compartment?Based on 5 owner mentions
No, this is a refrigerator-only unit with no freezer section. Multiple owners specifically chose this model because they wanted refrigeration without the hassle of defrosting a freezer compartment. This design also provides more beverage storage capacity than models with a freezer.
How long do these refrigerators typically last?Based on 3 owner mentions
Owners report excellent longevity. Multiple reviewers mention their previous units lasting 8, 13, and even 35 years, prompting them to purchase the same model again. This suggests strong durability and build quality.
Does this fridge maintain consistent temperature?Based on 4 owner mentions
Most reviewers report it keeps items consistently cold and maintains temperature well. However, a few owners have noted that the unit can freeze certain items unexpectedly, and one reviewer recommended using a thermometer to monitor temperature, as it may run colder than expected in some cases.
Where is the temperature control located, and is it easy to adjust?Based on 1 owner mention
The temperature control is located on the outside of the unit on the top right-hand corner. One reviewer noted this placement can be inconvenient if the fridge is positioned on a shelf, as it becomes difficult to see and adjust. The control markings may also be unclear about which direction indicates colder temperatures.

- Very good refrigerator - bad control placement
This refrigerator does a great job of keeping things cold. The only problem I have is that the temperature control is on the outside, on the top right hand corner. As this sits on a shelf unit, accessing the control is very difficult - both to see and to adjust. The marking…

Brand Background
About Danby
Danby is a family-owned Canadian appliance manufacturer headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, that has been producing refrigeration products since 1947. The company has carved out a distinct niche in the North American market by focusing primarily on compact and specialty refrigeration rather than competing directly with full-size kitchen appliance giants. Fridge.com currently tracks 75 Danby products, with the catalog heavily weighted toward space-saving solutions: 18 compact refrigerators, 14 chest freezers, 13 upright freezers, and 9 beverage centers represent the core of their offerings. The brand also maintains smaller selections of French door refrigerators, kegerators, and wine storage units. Among the most frequently monitored models in the Fridge.com database are the DBC117A1 beverage cooler and the DCF050A6WM chest freezer, reflecting consumer interest in Danby's specialty categories. With an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars across captured reviews, Danby positions itself as a value-tier option for shoppers seeking secondary refrigeration, dorm room solutions, garage freezers, or dedicated beverage storage without the premium pricing of larger appliance brands.
