Customer photo 1Good freezer but needs an interior light.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
It's a good basic freezer if you don't have much space. The corner I put it in has limited depth and this was the only brand that would fit there. A recent storm knocked out power for 60hrs and nothing perished. I'da gave it 5 stars if it had an interior light though. It needs a light.

Nice Small Freezer
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Nice small freezer to put in kitchen in addition to refrigerator/freezer . Received in perfect condition . “Garage Ready” even though it will be kept in the house . Extra insulation is always good . Time will tell the whole story as to how it holds up . Bought one for my daughter several years ago and it is still going strong.

Sadly, my freezer just died, but I did buy it in December, 2001. It worked great, just make sure to defrost it on schedule. I am downsizing and need something smaller, otherwise, I would buy this again.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
It's a freezer. So far so good. Fits the dimensions and no problems so far. Freezers should last a long time so I'll save any big praise until it's at least 10 years old.

Great size for our garage. Easy to access food as it is not too deep, has a small shelf and a basket. Nice for overflow from house side by side freezer and to stock up on sale items. Keeps food frozen as expected!

Great product
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I love that it is just the right size I need. I like the metal interior and you can adjust the temperature. I had an extra large one for 26 years. My house burned down and my kids are grown, so my needs have changed. It was still working great when my house burned.
Nana 61 · Apr 27, 2025
Fantastic addition
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
The freezer is fantastic. We chose it for it is, firstly, a GE product, and the size perfectly meets our freezer needs. The dimensions are great and the product sits well both in our garage as well as indoors (if we have to move it in later). The initial start-up was simple and straight with just one knob needing to be turned in to the desired temperature setting. We will definitely recommend this freezer to anyone who has freezer needs for 2,3, or 4 people in a household.

Good compact freezer
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Very good compact freezer! Cute little thing fits in a small corner space in the garage. JUST the right size! And right color (white). And good for all the "extras" that won't fit in the fridge freezer. And it's quiet. Most times you won't even know it's on (except by the green light). And very efficient! By the next day, anything I put there is frozen SOLID!

GREAT SIZE, QUIET RUNNING MOTOR...GARAGE READY.
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF GE PRODUCTS! THIS LITTLE FREEZER IS THE PERFECT SIZE FOR OUR NEEDS...THE ONLY REASON I GIVE IT A 4 STAR RATING IS BECAUSE IT IS NOT FROST FREE...HOWEVER, IT IS GARAGE READY WHICH IS A DEFINATE PLUS.

Love the freezer so far!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I’ve had this product for a month and it has been a far better experience than my previous off brand chest freezer. It’s deeper, the edges don’t have thick hard to remove frost around the edges and the top has a nice seal. It’s small enough to fit in my medium sized apartment kitchen but can hold a lot of frozen items.

Great Chest Freezer
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
My big freezer went out and it was full of meat. I called a local store and told them I needed a freezer that day. They had a 5.0 cu foot chest freezer for a good price and delivery within 30 minutes to my home. It held all of the meat with room left. This freezer will now be used just for meat. I ordered a 21.3 cu. foot upright freezer made by GE. It took a while for it to come in. This chest freezer was a lifesaver.

While it's a nifty little freezer, it is very small and the cord is super short. In my case it was also on the wrong side from where the outlet is. May not be on the wrong side for you, but the short cord is problematic in my opinion.

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
We purchased and spent more for what we believe is a "Garage Ready" but there is no indication on the freezer chest or in the instruction booklet that specifies that is the type of chest we received. We are experiencing a very mild winter this year so there is no way of knowing if it will hold up under extreme conditions. However, we are happy that it is pretty spacious inside and doesn't take up a lot of space in the garage.:)

Good footprint for condo
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We replaced an older GE with this one. The other had served us well for many years. We liked this one even better for footprint size in our condo. We trust it will serve our needs for many years too.

C'mon, GE, Really?? Ever heard of beta testing?

I haven't even plugged it in, yet, but we'll get started with just a few issues with the setting up process. First the unit is light and easy to maneuver into place. Good thing, because there aren't any handles, notches or ridges on the unit with which to pick it up. After getting it place, next step is plugging it in. Piece of cake, right? Not so much. GE offers zero instructions on how to access the power cord for this model. There are two access panels. One on the side with what looks like a three-prong outlet icon and three sheet metal screws fastening the metal panel to the chassis. I went with that one. Nope. That was the compressor access panel. OK, so there's a flip open panel in the rear of the unit. The panel has white lettering on a white background that says something about power code access. But yes, that's the one that you open and maneuver out the bundled power cord, then snap the panel shut. The power cord is a whopping 5.5 feet long. Instead of making the power cord instructions easy to read, GE decided its much more important to have a huge warning label on the side of the unit. If you can't get enough of warning labels, there are more inside the unit and on the rear warning of flammable refrigerant. I guess people are in the habit of smoking while sawing through refrigeration lines. OK, so we can plug it in. Now, the GE manual is very clear about setting it up: "Make sure the temperature control is set at 4." There's only one problem, GE: THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL HAS NO F()#&ING NUMBERS. But I'm sure there are FAQs that address this. Guess again. GE has only generic FAQs that keep us all awake at night, like how do I find the serial number on my appliance. Well, surely GE has made some YouTube videos showing how to set up the unit. Strike three. Zilch, Nada, a big goose egg.

I love the size, features, and GE name. Works great except the seal gets covered with ice.

Less than a Week Old and it's sweating?
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
I have had this appliance for only a week, and I notice sweating on the lid and the right side of the freezer.

REGISTRATION CARD WEBSITE INFO
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
The registration card that came with the freezer was updated back in 2015. The issue with that is the website address is NOT correct. geappliances.com/register does NOT bring up the registration form, it brings up other similar websites. Given you have to be SO CAREFUL now days on what you click on and who you are giving your info to you REALLY NEED TO UPDATE THAT CARD! I have to go to GE appliances then search for the registration process myself.
