We are processing our homegrown steers and needed more freezer space. This one packs more punch with its 4 baskets at different levels. We are hoping it holds a whole steer - will update once it鈥檚 loaded.

Customer photo 1Customer photo 2Customer photo 3Large, Well Made 15 cf Chest Freezer
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
We needed a new chest freezer. Had a half side of beef coming and the old one died. We bought a much bigger freezer this time and we are really glad we did! Plenty of room for the half side as well as my frozen berries, garlic and leeks with plenty of room for air/cold circulation. Can鈥檛 wait to load it up! Love the light. Was pleasantly surprised it came with baskets and they seem as sturdy as FreezerMax which is saying something. Final plus, the delivery guys were super nice and even carried the freezer down to the basement. Win - win! Great freezer!

Customer photo 1Solid feature packed unit
AJ Madison 路 4 out of 5 stars
Unit is a very nice size without being too big or too small. My only qualm is that you cant tell anything at the warehouse when you pick it up. Its not till you get home and see a small dent that you think what a shame that is. Otherwise it should suit our needs. Wife really wanted one with an audible alarm whish is why we got this unit. I like the 48hour guarantee.

Customer photo 1Excellent product with great features
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
Better than I hoped it would be, fits well in the space I made, the power cord is long enough to fit pretty much anywhere you need to put it. Plenty of space and the storage boxes that come with it move seem-less across the ridges.

Solidly made, sliding baskets are super handy!
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
Loving it so far- it's been in place (in our garage) and up and running for just over a month. The rails with the four baskets is handy and should help us keep things more organized. Hoping NOT to loose anything down the the bottom of the unit and find it months (ok, maybe years later- but that was an isolated incident and to be fair it was a small package of beef.) The lid is solid and sturdy and I appreciate the brightness of the LED light. It cooled down quickly to temperature after unpacking so we could get it loaded up right away. We bought this model as it was EnergyStar compliant, garage ready and the right size for our needs (2 person family, but with homegrown fruit, veg and livestock that is processed and frozen).

Good looking freeze, but short cord.
AJ Madison 路 4 out of 5 stars
Good looking product, packed well to prevent damage to exterior and interior baskets. Only complaint is the short power cord. The power is ok one side of the freezer and the cord barely reaches the opposite side at its lowest point making positioning limited..

Beautiful Chest Freezer
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
I'm just giddy! This freezer is nicer than I could even imagine. I have wanted a GE freezer for a long time and bought this from the internet. Your description did not describe it very well. It is so much nicer than I even hoped for. It is lighted, It has 5 baskets- none of this is mentioned. I never did find our what "garage ready" meant.

Our 65' deep freezer just got installed a few days ago and we are already loving having the extra food storage space! The baskets inside are a huge plus as we are able to put smaller packaged items in them and not lose them in the bottom of the freezer. Burt68 路 Nov 12, 2023
Big volume, easier organization.
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
Only have had the freezer for a few weeks, but so far it is working well and I love the big capacity. We buy large volumes of meat and preserve veggies for the winter, so this freezer has made a huge difference. I want the energy efficiency of a top-door chest freezer vs a stand-up, but organization is normally such a challenge - this freezer helps by having the two levels of sliding removable baskets. The only downside has been how heavy it is and that there aren't wheels on one end like some models have, but we were able to install it with two people without much issue.

Great Chest Freezer with Great Features
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
This chest freezer was purchased to replace a smaller unit that was only 5 years old. The GE 15.7 cu ft freezer has much more storage and 4 very clever baskets that allow for different heights to fit below them. We really appreciate these features as well: quiet running, external lights to indicate power outage, interior light that shines brightly, self-holding hinged top, Energy-Star rating and low kWh use, sleek exterior design, and value.

Works Well, But Noisy
AJ Madison 路 4 out of 5 stars
We bought the freezer based on Consumer Reports recommendations. It replaced a freezer that lived in our garage but died after 19 years. Our garage in Texas gets hot (80 to 90 degrees) and the freezer runs a lot to maintain the temperature. I was surprised at how noisy it is while running: moistly annoying gurgling noises, rather than motor noise. I would not want to have this freezer near a living area. With the warmer temperature in the garage, my watt meter shows it using about 1.5 kWhr/day which is about double what the Energy Guide label says (277 kWh/yr = 0.75 kWh/day). I expect the usage to go down as the garage temperature moderates this fall and winter.

Good size for us, runs very quietly
AJ Madison 路 4 out of 5 stars
We replaced a 7 cu-ft GE garage ready freezer with this because we needed more capacity. The width, front to back, is less than we'd like, which makes it a bit longer than we'd like for our placement of the freezer. And we find that the cover has inadequate counter balance springs (which do not appear to be adjustable), so it is difficult to close without the cover slamming down, especially while hold food in the other hand. Otherwise, it has functioned well this winter, even in a very cold garage setting.

Good Freezer for the Price
AJ Madison 路 4 out of 5 stars
Overall the unit is pretty solidly made. If like me, you intend to use this as a keezer, be aware that you can't simply shut the high temp warning alarm off. That means every time the unit kicks on, the alarm will beep incessantly until your temp controller shuts back off. You cn kill the alarm by pressing a button on the controller unit, but you'd have to do that each time the power cycles. It took some time and some tinkering, but I was able to reduce the alarm sound significantly - but not completely. While reasonable for typical use, it seems like the user should have the option to override this feature.

Another winner from GE!
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
I used to be a diehard Kenmore fan and bought washers, dryers and freezers from that brand for may years. However, quality declined and as needs changed, I also changed brands. The worse experience I had was with the Kenmore freezers. I replaced our upright first with a GE and was totally impressed with how much better the GE was overall. The storage organization was not as good for our needs, but we worked around that successfully. I liked how the GE was "garage ready," because that's where it ended up. Then we replaced our 22 cu. ft. Kenmore with the GE 22 cu. ft. sister to this one, and when it became clear we needed more storage, I didn't even hesitate to buy this one. It ran perfectly from the get-go, holds temperature well, and (like the others) doesn't sweat as much in humid weather as the Kenmores did. That tells me the insulation is better because less cold is escaping through the lid. All in all, I am very happy will all 3 of our GE freezers and expect to get many years of use from them. The quality is all that I could want.

We ordered this freezer because of its size and because of the sliding basket feature. we needed the baskets as my wife has trouble reaching the bottom of the freezer. Its Cold
AJ Madison 路 4 out of 5 stars
The freezer does what it is suppose to and keeps at zero degrees. The interior finish could be better, the rails that hold the second level baskets is held on by plastic buttons and 2 of our buttons were not up aligned with the rail causing the rail to be disconnected and the buttons to break off on the left end. A small stainless steel screw and re-cutting the notch fixed the issue. This leads me to question the quality control at GE.

Great features!
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
I have not had this long, but it is what I have been looking for in a freezer. Although chest freezers take up more floor space, they are so much easier to deal with. Let gravity be your friend! Why fight with placement and gravity? Plus, of course, heat rises so uprights work harder. This freezer has great features that I could not easily find in an upright unless I bought a gigantic freezer. When my old upright continued to work but not freeze & the alarm did not go off, I threw away all my destroyed food and jumped on this as soon as I found it. Thank God the pandemic is slowing down or I would never have been able to find a freezer, much less one with an audible alarm, a great size chest, so many sliding compartments, etc.

I have only had the freezer about 5 weeks and very pleased. During the winter storms, we were out of power intermittently for two days ( one outage was 7 hours ) and the freezer kept our food frozen. We are pleased with its performance so far. Check back after the first year.

AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this freezer chest about a week ago and it is exactly what I was looking for. It lives up to my expectations as well. Great purchase. The size is perfect for storing alot of food, the cost was very reasonable, and the construction is well build. GE did a great job on this freezer chest and I look forward to using it over the years.

i like the freezer overall. I don鈥檛 like the mid-level rail design. The first freezer didn鈥檛 have the rail properly installed, and if broke on day one. My second replacement freezer also didn鈥檛 have the rails properly installed but I secured them and it seem OK.

Excellent Freezer
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
This is a great freezer. I love the size, that it is garage ready, has four baskets that slide around for access, and keeps my frozen stuff frozen. The only downside I can see is if I fill this thing up then it will be impossible to get to stuff at the bottom. But, an efficient placement system and using the baskets should make that a non-issue.

Good freezer
AJ Madison 路 4 out of 5 stars
Only had it a month. It鈥檚 gets cold/freezes items quick. Really like the fact it has 4 sliding baskets with two rails. Lots of room. Only issue is when motor runs its a little noisy. Sounds like a soft wind tunnel sounds and the power cord is on the far left side and not very long, should be longer.

Great Features!
AJ Madison 路 5 out of 5 stars
The first thing I looked for was that it Garage Ready. I needed it to be able to handle the heat of being in my garage. The 4 baskets work great to hold the loose things. I have a Wi-Fi temp sensor in the freezer and with the freezer set at the half way it is keeping the temp in side at -5 to -10. It also keeps the temp at the -5 when I have opened it up to fill it every 2 weeks.

So far so good with this product, as I haven鈥檛 had it long enough to know the reliability of it. Nice to have baskets to help make use of the space more efficiently. That was the biggest drawback of chest freezers. Although, the replacement baskets are quite expensive to buy.

AJ Madison 路 3 out of 5 stars
Let's just say, we're sorry to see our old freezer go! The new one is at least a foot and a half longer than the old. It is not as deep or wide. The baskets are plastic and smaller. The placement of them doesn't make sense if you like to be well stocked. I can't say we would have purchased this model if time allowed us to shop around. But it was available when we needed it! Our last GE freezer was over 30 years old! Hopefully this one will last as long.

It's Working
AJ Madison 路 3 out of 5 stars
I was so excited to get a new freezer! (My old one was 35 years old and STILL working!) We opened the box and saw a small dent in the lid toward the back. The outer box was in perfect condition so it had to have happened in the factory. Quality control issue. Ok, we can deal with that rather than reboxing, getting a trailer and taking it back. The freezer is working BUT frost keeps building up on the left end, only the left end. I've tried moving the basket, rearranging packages, etc. It continues. The lid seems to be closed tight.

Poor construction of lid frame and seals.
AJ Madison 路 2 out of 5 stars
Poor construction of lid frame and design of seals. Powered on freezer. Checked function next day, good function. Opened lid three days later to begin loading, frost widespread below lid on front and rear interior. Tried 'dollar bill test', to check tightness of lid/ seals. No grip, whatsoever, to hold bill under closed lid.

The compressor failed after about 4 years. It did have a funny sound to it that others mentioned, but it was in the Garage so it didn't matter. I didn't feel it iced up to quickly. it hadn't needed defrosting before the compressor failed. It had about an inch of ice at the thickest points.
