Customer photo 1Good side by side for two people.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
This fridge was installed in a new apartment we are renting, so it was not our choice. However, it's a good sized fridge for two seniors, we get a supermarket delivery about twice a week, and don't do a great deal of cooking, but that does mean we have more prepared meals than fresh ingredients. Door capacity is good for drinks, dairy etc, but no dedicated egg tray and just one closed compartment. There are two drawers in the bottom for fruit and veg, only one of which has humidity control. My only reservation, after living with it for a week, is that the water dispenser, whilst filtered, is not as chilled as I'd expect. There is an ice dispenser, but like all ice dispensers, the crushed ice tends to fly everywhere. There is a drip tray under the water dispenser that needs emptying very frequently.

Customer photo 1Beautiful and Perfect Size
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I’m so excited about this beautiful refrigerator. It’s got plenty of room in the refrigerator and freezer side. Of course the freezer side is smaller than the refrigerator but that’s perfect. The icemaker works like a champ and it only took 12 hours for everything to be functioning fully. It is such a beautiful addition to my kitchen.

Customer photo 1Features that are hard to find
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Adjustable edge to edge glass shelves in fridge and wire racks in freezer give maximum amount of space. These features are hard to find and exactly why I stuck with same brand and similar unit. I wish they still had the spill proof edging. I am Concerned about plastic auger in the ice maker holding up. I think my old one was metal. I’m going to keep a close eye that. Black was only one in stock. My last one was stainless. I Bought this one online without seeing it. I thought front of fridge was textured, and it is smooth and going to show fingerprints. It reflects bad almost like looking in a mirror. However, I will enjoy being able to place magnetic pictures on it. GE hasn’t changed much in 2 decades, and I feel confident that I bought the same quality of unit! The LED lights are brighter and don’t take up space and a welcome improvement.

Customer photo 1Great features!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Love how spacious refrigerator side and bright lighting. Really wanted the French door fridge with in-door cube & crushed ice & water and bottom drawer freezer in white but in the size I needed, white was not available. So I had to settle for the side-by-side to get white with the in-door selections. White seems to be less popular and not available like it used to be. My kitchen is white shabby chic and the stove I bought a couple years ago (GE brand also) was white. I don’t care for the dark appliances.

Customer photo 1New fridge/freezer
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
What I really wanted was a refrigerator/freezer with top French doors, water & ice (both cube ann crushed) in the door, and pull out bottom freezer in white. However, wanting white seriously limited my options in the size that I needed. I had to settle for a side-by-side (GSS23GGOFCWW) to get the crushed ice in the door. Not everyone wants stainless, black or charcoal appliances. White should be an option in the styles! I am a GE buyer so I didn’t consider any other manufacturers. White is my decor (shabby chic). We just replaced our stove recently in white. We didn’t want to have mismatched appliances. We also just purchased a new washer and dryer (GE in white). Please don’t stop offering that color.

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I've always appreciated the styling and design of the GE line of appliances, especially the handles. The gas stove I purchased for an apartment unit looks sturdy and high-end but was not outside the range of competitive brands but still managed to offer a few amenities such as clock/timer, broiler, a fifth burner and a self-cleaning feature.

Customer photo 1Best, most reliable fridge ever!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This is the third of this model we've owned. When we purchased our home in Arizona, we had a terrible terrible experience with a Samsung four-door model. So much so, we gave it to friends and bought this fridge for our home. Fantastic! The reason we chose it is because our RV had this model of fridge when we bought it. A true die hard refrigerator that was 10 years old when we first owned it. The fridge in our RV is now 17 years old and we decided to replace it before it failed even though it was still running strong. So what did we do? Buy its direct descendent and we could not be happier. This model has been updated with LED lights, it is surprisingly spacious for its size, and honestly, no one needs to have a bigger one unless maybe a family of four or bigger. It is quiet, magnets stick on the slate surface, its energy star rated and its beauty is in its simplicity. If we can help it, we will never buy a different brand or model again.

As a first-time home buyer, this really has turned out to be a very good option for me and my family. Albeit, it could be slightly wider to fit pots in after cooking, it gets the job done. I would recommend this model to anyone.

It's smaller than I am used to, but that's what I wanted. I do wish there were a shelf above the basket in the freezer. I also wish the large shelf on the fridge door was lower. The noise level is really low and cooled really fast.

Never Go Wrong With GE

I have always been a GE Appliance lover . Love that it’s made in the USA. The new refrigerant was important to me, temp control for both freezer and refrigerator high on my list, roomy, shelves, cubed ice, crushed ice on the outside a plus and hopefully long term life will be good.

Replacement for 8 year old Fridge
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Had to get a new Slate GE 33" Profile Fridge due to the other quit after 8 years. the models are almost identical but this new one did not have the upper 'deli' drawer and the door shelf at the bottom is much smaller. The lighting is different and hard to see in the fridge too. overall it seems much smaller. Freezer is almost exactly the same. Handles are much better as the old model were stainless steel and showed every mark on them, constantly needed cleaned, the new handles aren't as shiny so this is a good thing. Hope this one lasts longer than the last one.

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
The refrigerator side of the combo is very accommodating. The freezer side limits optimizing the space because the shelves dont reach the back of the unir, therefore you have to balance food item in the center of the shelves. It get precarious. But the temperature is adequate the lighting is great on the fridge side. Overall it serves its purpose.

It needs two additions. One is a door on the ice maker or a way to reach in and get ice. Number 2 is in the fresh food section. It needs a cold cut tray. Other than those 2 changes we are pleased with it. It replaced a thirty year old 22 cubic foot side by side GE.

Good Fridge, Smallish Freezer
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Am supremely impressed by how quickly this cooled down to safe temps! It was cold enough in the freezer compartment to start making ice just a few hours after getting all the connections completed! The door bins seem sturdy enough to handle heavy loads. The bins on the freezer door are a touch too small to really hold much. Like having the two deeper bins up higher on the refrigerator side. No crouching down to hunt for stuff! Also appreciate having shelves that adjust easily. Access to the ice maker is also very intuitive and easy. Having the LED lighting throughout both compartments is very welcome. I haven't yet tested the capacity of each compartment. The freezer is a slightly smaller space than my last fridge and it's going to take some creative organizing on my part. The fridge size is spacious and has room for even the tallest containers I have. Am considering finding and adding another door bin/shelf as well as under shelf storage for soda cans. All in all, a seemingly solid appliance that could use a touch more space in the freezer compartment.

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
The angle of the water spout and length of opening is too small with tray in. Water sprays forward at you if you try refill a water bottle. I like the ice cream storage spot over the ice maker, it keeps ice cream servile instead of rock hard. Overall it's a nice fridge.

I absolutely love my new refrigerator freezer. It’s a side by side. The spot we have to put it in requires a smaller size and for us to easily get this GE beautiful appliance, means so much. I love the design of the shelves and lighting. It actually makes our cabinetry that it sits beside look so much better. I would not have guessed that would be a plus. Needed a refrigerator to fit a small spot and wanted a side-by-side refrigerator, this worked. The delivery guys were excellent. But the doors did not align perfectly. As we will be remodeling the kitchen in the near future this will do, as it will end up in the garage. We decided to keep it, and deal with the misalignment. Works excellent. Was priced well and fit in a tight spot.

Brand solid. Bins and door storage less so.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
GE Profile replaced a previous larger GE Profile. Overall review is that it is still a rock solid brand after 10 months on this one and almost a decade on previous. Ice maker still working (prev GE ice broke in warranty and then again shortly after, out of warranty, so left it broken). Filtered ice and water is delicious so don’t bypass the filter. Temp control is flawless. Only two ‘complaints and they are both for crispers and door storage. Previous model had lots of door and shelf position options, but new one is limited. We tried a lot of scenarios before settling on the ‘least icky’ setup. Crisper drawers function well but construction seems cheap. One broke and will be contacting GE for warranty replacement. Upon closer inspection I see that many child toys have sturdier plastic. I expected more for the price. Only two complaints. All other feedback on my GE Profile side-by-side is positive.

We just purchased this refrigerator, a few days ago, but everything is working well so far, and the size and style are just right for us. The reason we're giving four stars is because the storage space is somewhat limited, and there is no meat and cheese drawer.

Pretty
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
We chose this fridge because we have a more narrow opening than most modern fridges and we wanted water/ice on the door. We were concerned about the side-by-side configuration, but find it more convenient than the freezer on the bottom and the fridge is a bit deeper than our old fridge, so actually has more room. We also like the LED lighting. The one problem we had is that one of the freezer shelves is missing.

Great for small space
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This is one of the few refrigerators with a water dispenser that fits our small space. The water dispenser is very convenient to use. The fridge has many shelves, making it easy to organize food. Apart from the somewhat small internal space, we're very satisfied with everything else.

Almost Great Features
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
We are really enjoying our new GE fridge. We purchased it sight unseen because we were told it was "just like our old model." Only 2 problems: 1. door trays are not as deep (both fridge & freezer) and 2. fridge doesn't have the smaller (not as tall) compartment which was great for lunch meat, cheese, etc).

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Seems to be working perfectly so far. The freezer side is very narrow, but I guess that is to be expected with a overall smaller refrigerator. Also, would give it a five star if it came with another shelf and drawer. Have quite a bit of wasted space due to lack of these.

Love the water/ice dispenser
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Great fridge. Love the water/ice dispenser. And in what I've come to find is a pretty uncommon size for this type of fridge. However, we had a power outage recently. Power was out for a good 8-10 hours. Had to purge the ice maker/dispenser, which is normal But the auger arm motor froze from melted ice. and seized up. We had to go without ice dispenser for about 2 weeks, until we figured out the heat from the motor that turns the dispenser will thaw any ice that may have built up around itself. So all we had to do was hold it in 30-60 seconds and voila! We had an ice dispenser again.

Great fridge! Freezer needs a better layout.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Fridge works great. Love the ice and water dispenser. Plenty of room in the fridge compartment, but this means the freezer compartment is quite narrow. Additional shelving in the freezer would help offset how narrow it is. The lighting solution in the freezer is poorly thought out. The only light is in the back, but with how high you have to stack items because of how narrow the freezer is, the light gets completely blocked. The freezer needs 1 or 2 lights on the side, like the fridge compartment has.

Good, but ice dispenser needs variable control
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Keeps even temperature top to bottom. Adjustable shelves are easy to change. Good lighting. Wish it had more space on the freezer side and less on fridge side. The reason not a 5 Star is the ice maker dispensing; works fine for a full glass (e.g. ice tea) but spits the cubes out too fast if you only want a few in the glass. Also sometimes keeps dispensing after releasing the arm.

Only had new refrigerator about 3 weeks but it's wonderful. Wide deep shelves, large door shelves, big produce drawer, freezer has as much space as my old fridge. It's quiet. Very bright inside. And very attractive stainless-steel look. Does not show every little fingerprint. GE surprised me, I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do. My old fridge died and I didn't have much time to shop around. I have GE washer and dryer that have never given me a problem in 3 years, so I took a chance on their fridge being the same quality. Glad I did.

I didn't have many choices of refrigerators since my space was small. I didn't think I would like it but its much better than I thought and I'm happy with it. The biggest problem is the shelves or lack of them. GE could have added one to both sides. I was able to use a shelf from my old GE fridge to one side but not the freezer so that helped.

Love this Fridge! Push one button and it shows you the current temperature of the freezer and the fridge. Like the filter location in the fridge and ease of replacing. Shelving is cool with practical options for realistic food placement.

Love it! Plenty of room in the refrigerator section. While some might find the freezer too small, we have a free standing freezer so this one is fine for us. The only thing I would have like is an additional shelf in the freezer section and another drawer in the refrigerator section.

GE Great side by side refrigerator
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We had a Kenmore and a whirlpool Kenmore was good The whirlpools sucked first fridge ever. This GE fridge beats them both plenty of shelf space all shelves are adjustable the LED lighting down the door and above helps to see everything in your refrigerator. Down in temperature is kept perfect also there's plenty of space on the door The shelves are quite big. The water and ice setup is perfect don't have any water dripping down the front of the refrigerator. So glad about it's GE refrigerator

Nice fridge but with a few drawbacks.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I like the refrigerator, but it has a low humming sound when the compressor kicks in. Humming should have been eliminated before shipping it out. A little disappointed in that it doesn't have a cheese drawer. Shelves and lighting in the refrigerator are good and more space than I thought it would have. Freezer is compact but like all side by sides.

As a first time home buyer, this is has turned out to be a very ideal refrigerator for my families needs. Granted, it could be a little bit wider to be able to fit pots in after cooking. However, it does the job very well and is easy to clean.

Beautiful refrigerator. It is very quiet. I love the sleek design. It is smaller than what I had but it holds a lot of food. The only thing that I did not like was the door alarm that beeped if the door was held open for longer than three minutes! I looked up how to turn it off and now I am happy!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We love it the adjustable shelves the lighting so much room. It is definitely way better than the Whirlpool we had to return because it kept having problems after only 5 months. I have definitely told our friends about this new GE refrigerator. We are all very impressed. We also love that the doors stay a jar so you don't have to open it again to put something you're using for a second back in the refrigerator. Most definitely a much better refrigerator than anything I've seen out there online.

Customer photo 1Very hard to keep clean
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
So far, probably the worst unboxing experience ever. Parts missing. Tape glue stuck to shelves. Noisier than our 20 year old fridge. Can’t change Fahrenheit to Celsius; can’t turn off the beeping. Bottom drawer is very small - not full depth. Hard to level. VERY BAD for fingerprints. Design is acceptable overall but the sides are a brownish-black. Not super efficient compared to higher end models. With estimated annual 673kWh. Very unhelpful instructions and telephone service.

Despite using the correct GE filters and changing on schedule the water has significant chlorine taste. Even if the filter is a few weeks old it still has chlorine taste. My old whirlpool never had this taste. Makes my coffee and tea taste bad. They need to design a better filter. Otherwise good fridge.

Customer photo 1Needs an easy redesign to make it more usable
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
After 3 weeks I had to order a service call for intermittent noise - possibly the damper control? Hopefully it's not a serious problem. I like that it's bigger than my old fridge but there are some drawbacks that I didn't realize when I purchased it. No internal air filter. This seems like this is a big miss. Only one drawer has moisture control or does it control both with one slider? Not enough shelves in the freezer section or on the fridge door. I actually had to purchase baskets for the freezer to keep the food from toppling over and another shelf for the door so I could add more condiments. I also think the main fridge area could have used another shelf and if they added more channels to put these shelves, things would be easier to organize. I don't think I should have had to buy another freezer shelf, baskets, or a door shelf in order make this fridge usable.

Customer photo 1Customer photo 2It’s OK, but hardly great
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
I would not buy this model again. The in-door water and ice dispenser leaves little freezer room. The device makes a constant high-pitched hum. One bottom compartment doesn’t close smoothly. It does keep things nice and cold, but every refrigerator should do that.

Definitely not as good as my original
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
This unit is to replace a unit that was 9 y/o that stopped working. This is the same unit, the model number has changed. This unit has less storage than my original, very disappointing considering this is a refrigerator unit that fits in my small space. The shelving in this fridge door has two small shelves, two large shelves. My original one had all large shelves for more storage. This unit has one less storage drawer, this is very disappointing. My original had three storage drawers, this one has two. For the freezer, this freezer has wire shelves, my original had glass, this part isn't so bad. It's the one less freezer shelf that was deleted from this model.

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
It's a nice big fridge/freezer - lots of room in the fridge side, but the freezer side is really small - and it's the noisiest fridge we've ever had - I can hear it from the bedroom - it is NOISY!!!! I just mean the general sound of it running - it's LOUD. Really irritates me. Our previous frigidaire was silent, other than when ice was being made and you'd hear the sound of ice dropping, but this one has a constant 24/7 noise that is very annoying. i've NEVER heard of anyone else's fridge/freezer making noise like this!!!!

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
It’s simply a refrigerator. It cools and it freezes on the freezer side. The working parts of the ice maker are plastic and I’m sure will fail soon. Less than 6 months old and the light in the refrigerator side delays coming on when you open the door

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
The freezer is too small; I feel like it should have come with another shelf. Also, the compartment holders on the freezer door are too thick, making them almost unusable. Cold frig space is adequate for its size, but once again, it also should have come with another shelf.

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
My new Refrigerator makes extremely load noise when in some cycles. Sounds like an engine running. This is not all the time, but specifically when I have opened freezer or filled a glass with ice. I have not call anyone about noise because it was a tight squeeze to install it. It had to be lifted over my stovetop counter and lowered into area. (Additionally, I have been very sick and did not feel like having to deal with it

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
The GE water filter is a scam. you can't reset the alert light and are forced to purchase a new one if you want the light off. Many other manufacturers allow you to reset this as this filter is rated for 700 gallons between changes.

Adequate features
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
Because of my space restrictions, I decided to go with a 33 inch side-by-side. The freezer is quite small and is hard to access, particularly with the handles sticking out so much and bumping into the wall on the side. Thus I can’t open the door fully. There are very little pockets in the door of the freezer, which are practically useless. I would probably never buy this style again for my house.

No freezer functionality
AJ Madison · 2 out of 5 stars
The refrigerator space is amazing. The freezer is a joke. I thought I was missing a shelf/drawer. Nope. Look closer. A standard ice pack won't fit horizontally on the freezer door bin. There is no drawer so loose popsicles, etc will need something additional. It's probably half the size of my previous freezer which I already thought was too small. So if you want any functional freezer space this is not the one for you.

Terrible - Broke within a year
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
Fridge/Freezer temperature started going up in both sides of the unit about a year after we purchased it. Looking into it, the freezer had ice build-up all along the backside, so we started defrosting it about every 4 months. Finally got sick of doing that after a few years and called a repair man. He said that the defroster sensor is broken and to fix it would cost the same as buying a new fridge. He also suggested purchasing a Fridgedaire the next time around!

Just problems so far
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
The refrigerator was defective when it was installed. The water filter froze apparently so the water line plugged. That is being replaced under the warranty tomorrow. In addition the refrigerator temperature reading is constantly at a level less than the setting. I set the temperature at 38 degrees as recommended but the actual temperature is somewhere between 25 and 28 degrees. I don't know whether that has to do with the water filter freezing or whether the water filter freezing was due to the temperature. In any case the repair person is scheduled for tomorrow to bring the replacement parts.

The refrigerator replaced a GE Model that would fit only in the space we had. We have found the shelves not as spacious as the previous model. The Door Storage space has dropped by 40% as previously we could stack 2 Deep, now only one deep. Previous fridge had a Cheese drawer, produce and meat. NO CHEEZE drawer on this model. Also, could add a cheep drawer in the door for 5 instead of 4, ya think? IN defense, prrior model had 6 service calls in a 4 year period. Wait and see on this one.

One of the few that fit my kitchen. Had a similar model for 12 years. This one has fewer drawers, less room on the door shelves, and the side panels are an ugly, dark gray. Unfortunately, the side is very visible in my kitchen, and I hate it. Water/ice dispenser opening is too small for a tall glass. Keeps the food cold, I guess.
