Nice unit, mostly quiet until the top fan comes on,it's a little noisy but don't hear it often. I would have liked the freezer to have been a bit larger and the fridge a little smaller. I think the freezer needs another shelf so going to look for one. I was hoping to see my electric bill go down a bit but it didn't. 3weeks old.

Our previous fridge was a 36" unit that just fit our space. Therefore, we could not open the door all the way due to space limitations. We thought the 33" GE was a better choice and it is. The door opens all the way and the ice maker has a great chute which avoids ice flying all over the floor which our old fridge did regularly. Our Labrador loved it but not us! This fridge has great lighting and the ice maker is higher than most making it much easier to use along with the lighted display. We think it is great and hope that it functions as well and as long as our extended warranty.

When we bought our home around 29 years ago I bought an entire suite of GE appliances I’ve had to replace the dishwasher several times but this was the original stove and fridge. The main reasons I bought these were I trust the name GE and it was the biggest fridge that I could fit in the available open space. Long story short I had no trouble in all those years but there was a power surge after a storm and it did take out the board on my 29-year-old fridge so naturally I tried to replace it with the same thing which and behold was available are greatly updated but I trust the product. Today I ordered the new stainless steel stove to go with it. That’s the original stove you’ll see in the picture.

I shopped around a lot because I had limited space but like to cook and bake. The freezer in this is very narrow but quite a bit fits if you stack, and the fridge is awesome! Love that I can get a water and ice dispenser in this size.

GREAT fridge as far as cooling/temp control goes. Freezer capacity is on the small side, and fridge could use a deli drawer in addition to the shelving. I’m annoyed by the small volume of water the filter will handle before requiring replacement with a GE brand filter.

Overall I love my new side by side. The two things I don't care for is 1) There is no snack or deli drawer. In the GE profile side by side that this replaced this option was used for cheese and lunchmeat and we loved it. 2) The door bin "A" shows being installed high above the ice maker in the instructions #225D3791P163; however, the slides to attach it are located at the bottom of the top section of the freezer compartment. When you install it there it hits against the icemaker and the door won't close.

We've had the fridge for a while now and it works well. We bought this based on online recommendations. Additionally we needed a fridge that was a bit narrower than the standard fridge and this fills the bill. It was a bit on the higher than most and I had to trim the bottom of the cabinet that was mounted above it.

I am especailly happy about the energy saving since we have problems with the electric grid in our area. The refrigerator is really handsome --- love the "dark" stainless steel doors. Also like the "control" panel on the front --- makes it really easy to check/change temperatures. This item is in our second home so we are not there all of the time. This was top rated and we know we can depend on it. The installation team was awesome!

Because of space limitations, this model replaced basically same GE model. Miss the mid level slide out deli tray for small items old model had. Side light in refrigerator improvement over older model. An identical side light on freezer side would be an improvement. A compact LED light and water filter increased top shelf space.

This model didn't come with a deli drawer, but thankfully the build is similar enough and we were able to transfer some of the internal pieces/parts from the old to the new!

So far loving it! The lighting is really great they have additional lighting half way down the fridge near the outside - helps seeing the lower shelves! Cleaner lines on the inside than my older one (same type). Only thing could have been better - keeping the deli drawer. But I bought a bin for cheese and lunch meats. But would have been nice to still have a deli drawer.

We have a confined space for a refrigerator and this narrower model fits with 1" to spare on width. It's well made, lit well, and has helpful dinging alarm if door is not closed after a certain length of time. Freezer is quite narrow; have to turn frozen pizzas diagonally to fit. Could be better designed on top shelf so we wouldn't need to stack dairy products.

We have a very small kitchen and did much research to find the perfect refrigerator for our space and our needs. We are very happy with our purchase. We chose a side by side because we wanted more organization and easy access to frozen foods instead of a bottom drawer freezer where things get buried. Even though the freezer seemed smaller it still holds about the same amount of food as our bottom freezer because of the door shelves and an extra large bin at the bottom. The fridge section accommodates all our cold items easily because of the deep door shelves and the spacious fruit and veggie bins. The fridge runs quietly and makes plenty of ice. One of the nicer features is the lovely stainless steel finish that does not show handprints and other smudges. Also the water filter makes our water taste like spring water.

We needed a white fridge about 33 inches wide to go with our kitchen. Preferred side by side over French doors b/c with the French doors you have to bend down to use freezer and everything ends up on top of each other rather than at mostly eye lever and shelves for the side by side. Considered the similar Whirlpool but the GE is much better. We had to have a carpenter cut about 1/4 inc off the bottom of the cabinet above to make it fit. The fridge has lots of space in the fridge and freezer sides. Many adjustable shelves options in fridge. Great lighting, quiet, and the icemaker/water on door works fine.

For my use, it could use one more shelf in the refrigerator and in the freezer. Only drawback is the door shelves are difficult to get set in securely; especially in the freezer. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

Well worth the 4-month backorder wait. This refrigerator is extremely quiet as we can't ever hear it running except when it dumps ice. The ice maker started dumping ice 4 hours after everything was plugged in and then every hour until it filled the bin. So far, the ice maker is keeping up with our heavy ice use. The 33” size fits snuggly into the opening our kitchen has. The interior lighting is excellent. Would definitely recommend.

LOVE IT!!! Quiet, fridge stays cold, freezer keeps frozen! Wasn't too sure about the fact it is "Made In Mexico", but it has been non-problematic for the 1st month and a half. Only 1 thing which I feel could have been prevented: We were getting ieces of Styrofoam in our ice for awhile. Apparently the installers neglected to remove some packing, and I couldn't spot where it may have been coming from. There were loose pieces AND pieces in the cubes. I highly recommend this fridge for those looking for a 33 inch! I must add, ice and water: Clean, fresh taste!

We love this refrigerator! It has great use of space inside. It is nice and quiet compared to our last Whirlpool unit. That thing sounded like a plane taking off at times. This ice maker design is so much better than the other one. What's not to like! Would not hesitate to purchase this GE model again.

Plenty on space. Freezer is more convenient for us. Shelves allow for easy recognition of food items (not piled on top of one another). Lighting excellent. Door storage bins large enough for gallon milk. The compressor makes more noise than what I am used to, but minor at best.

I am happy with this side by side refrig except for the shelving. I had to buy online for an emergency so couldn't see the inside of it. I had a hard time putting the shelves in as the instructions sucked. Also, their is no middle "meat" tray.

I am very pleased with my purchase of this GE fridge. It is very well designed with excellent storage space and shelf layout. While it appears to run longer than my previous 7 year-old fridge it is very quiet and maintains a uniform temperature throughout the fridge space. I have always had a preference for side by side fridges as I find them more convenient and efficient compared to other styles including 3 door models, and this fridge does not disappoint.

We purchased this new model to replace our old GE refrigerator, which is very similar. The new model was on back order for forever, but we are very pleased with it so far. We like the black exterior finish and the interior lighting and it fits perfectly into our confined space. Honestly, it doesn’t run completely as quiet as the old unit, but not loud enough to be an annoyance. The one thing that I do miss is the deli draw that I had in the old model. Perhaps GE will bring that feature back fin the future for this size refrigerators.

Upgrade from previous years

We had originally purchased this refrigerator back in 2018. We moved and bought the newer version that is much improved from the older model. Easy to install water line, quieter operation, and improved ice and water dispensing. The interior lights provide ample illumination and ease of storage adjustment make this the ideal refrigerator/freezer for those limited in space in their kitchens! The ice maker is extremely efficient having filled the bucket within a day after installation. I would give 5 stars if we had it longer although it has only been installed for 4 days so cannot recommend higher at this time. I do not foresee any issues because the older model we had did provide any and this is definitely an upgrade from that!

Our 22 year old fridge was needing replaced at sometime, the ice maker would not longer discharge the cubes and would freeze up. We're restricted to a 33" model. Our local appliance dealer could not order this model as GE was not producing it till further notice. We had to go online to find it but after finding one we waited too long (12 hours) to decide and it was gone. We found this one at Madison so jumped at it. Nice unit, many upgrades from 22 years ago! We wanted a GE on the recommendation of a couple appliance repair businesses, GE is very reliable with few problems.

The stainless steel refrigerator is almost the exact same size as our previous GE refrigerator. For that we’re thankful as it can fit into a narrow space. People at the Warrendale appliance store, a local Store in Waltham MA, did a great job in all areas including sales, service, and delivery. However, GE cut out options on this refrigerator compared to my old one from two decades ago to save a few Penny’s. GE did not include a large rack and draw for Deli meats etc. Resulting in a rather large, useless hole/space in middle of refrigerator! Additionally, they cut out shelf space on the freezer door. Lastly, the on/off switch for ice cubes seems fragile. Otherwise, if we can keep the refrigerator for several years it will be a good investment like the last one!

We've had the refrigerator for a few weeks now and it's been great. One suggestion for future models: It would be nice if the refrigerator dispensed cold water. I had assumed that there would be a reservoir within the cooling system to chill the dispensed water. (After all, a refrigeration capability is right there!)

To start I’m extremely upset that this NEW unit out of the shipping box came with swirl scratches all over the fridge door. This is absolutely terrible when I just spent so much money on it. Now for the good part of the review, mechanically it works very nicely. It is a little louder than my last GE fridge/freezer side by side. That unit was more than 10yrs old so it was time to upgrade. I love the LED lighting, I love that it starts slightly dim then gets bright. Perfect for when it’s dark and your eyes need a moment to adjust. I like the spacious feel I have in the fridge, and the wire basket in the freezer. It’s not as bulky as a plastic bin there. The shelves are adjustable which is great also, the water and ice work great. It rolls easily if you need to move it as well. This unit is slightly taller than my last and I love that about it. Cosmetically 2/5 stars because of damage Mechanically 5/5 stars because it works flawlessly

The red filter light goes off when I try to get water from the door. The filter came with the fridge and is only 5 days old. Water will not dispense from the door when the red filter light is on. Which means the water dispenser is currently useless.

Fit and finish is only average. Gaps around the control display and water/ice dispenser. Ordered through big box store and was delivered a similar but different model number expected a GPWW and got a GPFCWW. The store and it's GE contact could not describe the differences between the models. No outward appearance differences, so accepted the 2nd unit. I guess that's common? Noisy icemaker. Freezer door shelves narrower than expected. Keeps temperature well. Fits within my space well.

Needs more than 1 light in the freezer and a smaller automatic ice maker storage bin to allow more freezer room. More than 1 light in the freezer and a second storage wire bin for the small freezer would be a bonus.

It's impossible to put the drawers back without putting dents in the side. I have never had refrigerator that I couldn't easily clean out. This was so hard. I got a smaller refrigerator but no had no idea that it would be so challenging. I can't even put of the big drawers back in. I have to wait for my husband to come home to help me tilt the refrigerator forward so the door will open wider. Don't get this.

Our fridge went out just before Memorial Day, so of course we had to rush to buy a new fridge and almost everything was out of stock because of a Memorial Day appliance sale. We bought this fridge because it was the best price that still included features, and one that fit the dimensions we needed. We have regretted the decision ever since. It was professionally installed, and is perfect level (we checked) but the door doesn’t stay open. So you have to open it, start grabbing while it’s closing, then bump it back open so get a few more seconds, bump it back open, over and over. One side is so small that I can’t get both shoulders in to dig around and find what I need, and keep bumping the door back open at the same time. The freezer is so small, this will not work for any household that is more than 1-2 people. Each shelf on the freezer door can fit one pint of ice cream. That’s it. Or one uncrustable. The shelves in the fridge side are not space efficient at all. You end up with one shelf for milk and tall top shelf liquids, one shelf for yogurts or something, and then a HUGE gap for the third shelf. You almost have to purchase extra shelves or find some sort or organizing situation to put on the third shelf. Otherwise a ton of space is wasted. There is no cheese or deli drawer, the egg container barely fits one carton of eggs. You can fit two if you lay them on their sides. There’s two drawers for veggies but one will probably go towards stuff that doesn’t fit where it normally is supposed to go. Good luck fitting all of your condiments in the door shelves because 60% of your space goes towards bulky shelf design and thick plastic sides. I hate it. Also, less than a year later it’s making a moaning noise and isn’t holding temperature.

DO NOT BUY! RFID reader fails costing you hundreds

GE puts RFID readers in their fridge to stop people from using counterfeit water filters. And when this RFID reader fails, it stops you from using genuine GE water filters. This means you can't use YOUR fridge which you paid for to dispense WATER or ICE unless you pay them hundreds of dollars.

I owned a GE similar model purchased in 2005. The interior design was much better. It had one more shelve and one more tray (bin) plus the door trays were better. I had to buy the extra shelve (previous model had bins, which were better) for the freezer. The redesigns sucks in comparison. Do the designers actually use the products they design? I returned a new purchase Frigidaire because the fridge didn't cool. But, the interior design was superior to the GE. Plus you could turn off the ice maker from the exterior panel instead of having to open the freezer door, remove the upper tray, then reach into the freezer to slide the switch into the off position. I wish I would have exchanged the Frigidaire.
