Best Built In - Matches Other Stainless Appliances

Built-in works for my kitchen while other brands didn't offer the size seeded. Had an earlier version from 2007. The ice maker in the door takes some getting use to; the additional baking rack features is not necessary for me; enjoyed the larger refrigerator door storage however less flexibility with other door racking

I. Do like the 42 inch built in refrig. The only question I have is the temperature in the freezer is all over the place. Sometimes it is 20 or 15 below zero and then it will climb to above 0 and then take a dive again to 15 below. Zero. I haven’t requested a repair yet just watching to see if it settles down.

Great Fit & Features

This purchase was to replace a 30 year old Kitchenaide cabinet depth (built-in) refrigerator. The fit was perfect and the new model is so much nicer than our old one. Also seems to be more storage area, although the exterior dimensions are the same. So far, very pleased. The purchase did take two months to receive; our location may have had something to do with delivery.

Beautiful design for a great appliance!

We bought this fridge for our kitchen remodel. It looks very sharp with our tall cabinets. I love the quality of kitchen aid appliances. Love the lights, shelving, fingerprint resistant finish, love the whole design. Having water was important to us and I am so happy we went with the model that has water dispenser. I feel like the food stays fresh longer in this fridge as well.

It makes the ice as promise and it is beautiful

The ice bucket was full in 3 days as the instructions promised. Just press the max freeze button, do not open the door often, be patient and the bucket will be full at the end of the 72 hours. Lucky, I did not have the issues with the ice maker other customers had. It is beautiful and silent.

Great space, lighting, looks, ice and water

Had this a month now. Ice tray is large. Like the separate spaces for water and ice. I mostly use ice and my wife uses crushed. Facial recognition would be great future feature to be able to automatically provide me ice and my wife crushed ice. Twice now I noticed that the freezer compressor makes a bit of noise. I like the taller refrigerator and I love that you can put a gallon of milk on the door. The shorter depth of the refrigerator makes it easier to get items out.

Great machine, horrible Manual and tech service.

We love the refrigerator, it's so spacious. HOWEVER, the Manual that came with it totally SUCKS. It is not precise, very unclear as to how to perform various simple operations at the start, and has driven me to try and talk with someone from company support to talk me through how to, for example, toggle between whole cubes and crushed ice. Unfortunately, this seems to be an impossible task, so I have filed for the company your website designated to send out a tech person to walk me through it. Again, unfortunately, the company that does that for you is located on another island and will not fly someone over here to help me out. Not good!

Early problem with Frozen water line

We have only had the new frig for a week so a little early to rate. But I would note that on day 3 the ice and water through the door quit working. Called Kitchaide who seemed to think it was a problem with water pressure since I filter water before and in the frig. It wasn’t. The water line had frozen and as I saw on youtube I raised the temp in frig and feeezer 2 degrees and waited 24 hours. The problem resolved and hopefully won’t return. We will see. But it is a nice looking frig otherwise and fit our opening perfectly

Noisy!

I like the refrigerator and it features. IT IS VERY NOISY! I even called a service person out to see if the noise was normal. The refrigerator growls at me at times. It apparently is how these refrigerators cools with out the banded freon. I am hoping it will last as long as its predecessor. It works fine. I am learning to live with the noise. I would have appreciated a heads up. I am conerned that it is a lemon.

Amazing Features

We purchased this refrigerator a couple of months ago to replace our old KitchenAid Built-In. The original one had lasted over 24+ years, so we knew this was a great option. Our new one has so many improved features than the original model, we could not be happier. Though they are the same size outside, this one is better designed inside to max out space, allowing more room for groceries, meats, fruits and vegetables.

I bought this refrigerator a month ago. We love everything about it except for the ice maker makes ice very slow. It takes several days for the holding bin to fill up even with us not taking any out. The inside of the refrigerator and freezer are spacious and the lighting is great.

I can’t find info re the wood removable tray. I assume it’s for appetizers I prepare ahead of time. When I tried to put the loaded tray back in I had to tip it a little and the dishes slid around causing a sauce to spill out.

New 42" built in Kitchen Aid

We love the new fridge. We replaced a 23 year old Kitchen Aid 42" built in with this new 42" built in. We had great luck with the old one, we're hoping the same for the new one. My wife has one small complaint, she says the ice tastes like plastic, but we're hoping that goes away over time

We love our new refrigerator however we’re having a few problems.1) Our vegetables are occasionally freezing in the refrigerator. We’ve had to throw out carrots and celery that was stored in our vegetable drawer 2) the bottom drawer in our freezer won’t open and 3) tje ice dispenser occasionally gets stuck. When we open the freezer door and look at the ice bucket it seems one side flows freely and the other side the ice is doll vlprf together.

Overall a very beautiful and functional fridge and freezer. My only complaints are the ice maker makes a whooping sound which takes getting used to, the doors scratch easily, and magnets don’t stick to the doors.

I bought it to replace a 1995 KitchenAid Superba 42 built-in. It works as designed however it produces ice very slowly. The estimate was 3 days to fill the hopper. It took more than a week at the standard freezer setting.

Excellent solid product

This built in refrigerator is an excellent product. I had the older version which lasted 18 years and was still going strong, but wanted to update to the latest model that matches the other KitchenAid appliances we have. It actually seems more roomy than the old model even though it’s the same size, but has better shelving layouts. I highly recommend.

When building our new house, we upgraded to this 42" refrigerator. Our previous refrigerator was smaller. Yet, this 42" refrigerator is laid out poorly. It's been a struggle to arrange the shelves in a way that I can maximize the space. The freezer depth is poor. On the plus side, the refrigerator is sufficiently cold.

It is a beautiful appliance and it receives many compliments but I feel like it is smaller than the refrigerator I had in my condo. Wish it had a built in water pitcher like my prior fridge. Samsung products have been very reliable.

Icemaker issues

Icemaker needs improvement. Ice becomes solid in certain parts of the bin and gets stuck in the dispenser. This is a replacement within the first year, the first one had ice freezing on the walls. The cooling is fine and it's very pretty but not sure about long term performance.

Too soon to give a good review

On Day 10 after installation we found that the food and ice in the freezer were thawing/melting and the refrigerator was warm and I placed a service call - on a Friday morning so the earliest a tech could come out was on Monday. A new fan was ordered and it's scheduled to be installed in 2 days. That's 18 days after the part was ordered. There was a holiday weekend for a very small part of the delay...we need to have our new refrigerator and freezer working again and to be reimbursed for the food we need to replace.

For such an expensive appliance, we did not anticipate 2 repairs within 6 months. I still don't understand why the one shelf has a metal strip on the front that detaches nor why the top drawer in the freezer does not close all of the way. I would recommend it because for built-ins, there are few choices.

I bought this a month ago out of necessity. It was a very nice refrigerator, but all the shelves on the door have chips on them. And when they were replaced, the one that came were also chipped. They came packed very poorly with absolutely no insulation or protect.

problem with freezer

Bought in November of 2024 and have had an issue with the freezer ever since. Repairman been there 4 times and coming back next week. They keep it's normal for your freezer to get crystals over everything, shelves, food, walls, etc. Ice melts and clumps together, ice cream container gets soft. Would not recommend this model.

Not so great refrig

This refrigerator was delivered in January and was put in our newly renovated kitchen. The ice machine leaks and we have to set it on off mode if we do not want water leaking on the floor. Very disappointing.

Excellent appliance except for the ice maker.

We owned the previous version of the 42" built in for 20 years with minimal issues. so when we needed to purchase a new refrigerator we decided to stick with KitchenAid. Features, finish, look are very good. Unfortunately the unit does not produce ice as expected. Since we purchased the ice maker unit was replaced and ice making has improved slightly but it still never fills the bin to the sensor level. We made a point of not using ice until the bin was full -- which according to the manual should happen in 3 days. After a full week (of buying bagged ice from the store) the bin was only 1/2 full. If we were to have guests over for drinks we would run out of ice. Given the cost of the unit it is amazing to me that the ice making functionality does not perform as expected. Attached picture represents ice level after 5 days - without using any ice from the refrigerator.

Stainless Steel finishes Do Not Match

We bought this unit 2 months ago along with what we thought was a matching double oven. The "print shield" stainless steel finish on the refrigerator is very different from the stainless steel finish on the double oven. We called Kitchen Aid several times to see if we could address this problem, i.e. return for a stainless steel alternative, and we were told that not matching product finishes was not their problem. The product is otherwise OK.

Disappointed

It’s a nice looking refrigerator however it is not the product I thought it would be as a top of the line Kitchenaid appliance. It takes four days for the ice bucket to refill. The produce drawers seem flimsy. The ice dispenser is noisy and the machine makes odd chirping sounds a few times a day.

This refrigerator is a lemon

Have had this over priced refrigerator for 2 months and have had problems with it since day 1. The ice dispenser leaks when using the water dispenser, the freezer doesnt freeze, the refrigerator has not maintained the displayed temperature, the vegetable and fruit drawers are freezing. We have contacted the distributor but have not been able to get any action on replacing this poorly functioning unit. It looks nice though.

Disappointed

I’m on the second one in 2 years. The first one leaked and ruined my kitchen floor and cabinets. The second one makes unhealthy noises 24x7 and within a week of delivery had a tech out for a service call because the freezer was frosting up. They slathered silicone all over the inside of the freezer to “fix it”. Not a great experience, stay away and spend your money elsewhere.
