Very pleased with our new KitchenAid fridge

We have nothing but KitchenAid appliances and have been quite satisfied. When we came across this model and design, we just had to upgrade! It came packaged very well and fit perfectly(be prepared to remove ALOT of plastic and tape). I read and follow all owner manuals to the letter, so start-up and use went smooth and is working like a champ as I’ve come to expect. The space design allows for more efficient storage and use, and you can’t beat the “soft close” drawers and trays. Needless to say, we are very pleased with it!

Tape Residue on refrigerator Ceiling.

I love everything on the refrigerator except there was nylon tape on the ceiling of the refrigerator. When I pulled it off, it left streaks of glue and nylon strings and now is very unsightly. I looked up all the methods of removing the residue and nothing seems to work.

Wonderful Refrigerator

In all honesty, we got this unit mainly for looks. There were some reviews that made me worry a bit but I think they all stem from bad delivery and that is why I made sure it was a smooth process. If you're the type that care about both form and function, this is your refrigerator. It fits soooo well in our modernized kitchen renovation and Im very sure it will fit a rustic themed kitchen as well. It is the center piece of our kitchen. The wood look trim and the tra layouts are super nice. The counter depth really made it right. I did do some extra precautions. There were some complaints about the ice maker. I think its a good idea to do a monthly maintenance by cleaning the ice bin at least once a month. I also adjusted the ice maker setting to TIMED DEFROST like the regular freezer. It was also noted that a water pressure regulatior be installed but ours has been working great without it fir over 8 months so far. Despite all these potential issues, when you see this beautiful piece of kitchen machinery in your kitchen, it is worth it.

Nice Appliance

We remodeled our kitchen and decided to get all new appliances and went with all Kitchaid appliances and we love them. I would give it 5 stars but the ice maker keeps getting water in the ice bend and freezing blocks of ice at the bottom of the ice bend so I have to keep checking it because if the ice tray empties it doesn’t break into pieces and it gets hung up. Other than the ice maker/ice bend it’s great!

Happy with our Purchase

We purchased our refrigerator a few weeks ago and are very happy with the looks and performance. In the first 24-48 hours of usage, it seemed to make an inordinate amount of noise but that seems to have gone away once it got to the right temperature. The only thing that makes a lot of noise is the ice maker, when the tray dumps a load of ice, which isn’t a problem.

Quality control?

I would give it a 5, but the first 2 had to be returned. 1st one rattled so much we couldn’t hear the TV without turning up the sound. The 2nd had inside door issues where shelves wouldn’t fit. 3rd is working great!!

I’ve had this refrigerator for about a month. Le and it works great. It’s absolutely beautiful inside, by far the nicest I have seen. We went from a kitchenaid side by side refrigerator that was about 8ish years old to this one. Our old refrigerator had the water filter up to and it started to leak so I was looking for a new one with the filter towards the bottom when I stumbled upon this beauty. If you need more fridge space and less freezer space, which is something I wanted also, then this will be perfect. I have yet to fill the fridge part up still and the old fridge was packed full when I switched them. It only fit about half of the fridge items in the new one though but i keep most food in my deep freezer anyway.

Few things not to like

I have the counter depth with bottom draw. I really love this fridg. Make ice very fast if set to max ice. Has a slow closing bottom drawer once push so far. Things I’m not in love with. No direct way to control the temperature as in most other refrigerators. Shelves are non- adjustable. That’s a huge problem for me. It’s way more expensive than it should be.

Could be a bit better.

Was pretty jazzed about the new fridge after the old one went out. Very elegant looking on the inside but has room for improvement. The shelves can only be raised slightly which isn't such a big deal but the main issue with it is the water dispenser. It's very short and very close to the button so there is a lot of splashing. Additionally, if there is any sort of spills in the fridge, it is a disaster to clean. Learned this first hand as I spilled a tea day one. Ultimately does what a fridge does.

Love the features

Bought this in early November. Happy with compactness and how it fits in the kitchen. Appreciate the self closing drawers. Fruit and Vegetable drawers keep food fresh. Ice cubes maker is producing good amount. Wish the shelves were adjustable. Limited space to put tall groceries in like milk, creamer, etc. can only go in one side of refrigerator door or half to close one shelf halfway which makes space behind inaccessible. Some careful packing but other than that a great purchase.

I’ve had the fridge for 9 days and it is all that I hoped it would be. I saw many negative reviews and was nervous about the cooling so I purchased a fridge thermometer. The temperature fluctuates 10+/- degrees, my garage fridge does too and it is not a Kitchen Aide product. I really like the lighting, storage, water dispenser and the ice is awesome. Very quiet and a slick sophisticated look.

Second week and enjoying the larger capacity versus the old LG counter depth. Problem after a week has cropped up with the ice maker overflowing and water is collecting in the lower drawer. Not what I expected this soon. Hopefully it will be corrected and we can then live with what should be a 5 star refrigerator.

This replaced my Built in KitchenAid of 15 years. This one so far works great, actually bought the floor model. Plenty of room and the love the led lighting inside along with the platinum color. Freezer is very spacious. Ice maker makes the smaller balls of ice which I really like. Overall very satisfied with my purchase.

Never Enough Ice

It’s a beautiful refrigerator inside and out. The main criticism is the ice maker and ice container are very small. There is never enough ice for a family of three. We have been buying a bag of ice and keeping it in the freezer. This shouldn’t be needed in an expensive new refrigerator.

Beats the GE Profile

We bought this to replace a GE Profile that lasted about 5 years and had begun having problems circulating child air. First, this is a beautiful appliance. The lighting inside is amazing. The ability to adjust the door bins to preferred heights is nice. Some of the height positions are extremely tight though. The ice maker so far seems to be functioning and providing adequate ice. The only negatives I find at this point have to do with not being able to adjust the shelving height. We should have been paying closer attention to that because there's only one area tall enough to place a one gallon jug of milk and that's right in the middle front after you recess one shelf. You could put your gallon jugs in the doors, but instructions advise you not to do that we think because spoilage will occur faster. The other negative is the manual. It is basically useless because it is not specific to our model and is written to cover several kitchen Aid models. We are having to get more detailed instructions for the water dispensing feature by going to YouTube. We admit that some of this is we have to get accustomed to a new fridge/freezer. Our biggest concern is, we hope this one will last longer than 5 years because this is the third one in 15 years.

This is a well designed refrigerator. I gave 4 stars in places only because the freezer space is limited. Love the handles away from the front so you can take hold easily. Also love the drawer handles inside so you don’t fumble around trying to open the drawer. The lighting is marvelous!

Still Not Sure I'm Satisfied!

I've had this refrigerator for about a month. It has to be the noisiest one I've owned ever! When the water fills the ice maker reservoir, it is very loud. The issue that concerns me the most is the "buzzing" sound that comes and goes at will. The buzz will continue for hours, then the buzz will stop for hours. Is this normal? Please help me on this!

Purchased this refrigerator for our new home a few weeks ago. Great looking appliance. Appreciate the ice and water dispenser are different not having to switch a button and use the same lever as others. Wish the shelves were adjustable to hold more high/larger items.

Everything stays a an optimum temperature. The cubed ice is the perfect size. I did have to level the doors and the fridge itself but that was minor.

This is my first French door refrigerator with freezer at the bottom. So nice to have items at eye level and accessible. The water and ice on the outside was a must. Don’t like fingers in my ice. This had all the features we needed for that. I love the drawers. The thin ones come in handy. No need to stack items like yogurt. The wood details, grey interior and lights make it feels very luxurious.

Rough start

We have been using the refrigerator for a couple of months now. Although we had a rough start, originally the refrigerator was very loud and getting hot. We called for service immediately and they came out quickly. Apparently, the fan was taped and secured for transport and was never released. Once that service man removed the tape, the fridge is now working quietly and perfectly. It has great features, lots of interior space, ice maker is great and looks amazing.

There appears to be a design flaw. The water spigot is positioned too close to the front. If adults that sate unfamiliar with this or children use. The water feature and they remove the drinking glass too quickly, water drips down the front of the fridge and onto the floor. This is not good. We have grandchildren and thus is presenting a real problem. We have to position some type of catch basin to protect and prevent this from ruining our new hardwood floors.

Good Frig with Usability Issues

In general, this refrigerator work very well. It is spacious and visually appealing. There are a few issues that mar its function. 1) The shelves that insert into the doors are limited to fairly fixed positions. There is little room for adjustment (e.g., for taller items). If one shelf is arranged higher, the shelf above becomes unusably small. 2) The shelves in the main body are also fairly fixed and, again, don't adjust well for taller items. 3) The water/ice dispenser is difficult to use. A previous model had buttons to select ice or water and then pressing the lever with a container delivered the requested material. This water/ice dispenser has two levers and both can be inadvertently pressed when inserting a container. This delivers unwanted material and usually results in material falling to the floor. The "measured fill"/"favorite fill" is cumbersome to adjust and generally more trouble than it's worth. The option for crushed ice is nice, my old Kitchenaid didn't have this feature. 4) Some of these issues may have solutions, but very little user information is provided with the unit. Installation instructions are provided but don't cover many usability features.

I had a tech replace the motor and they said the ice maker should last about 5-7 years but the ice makers on the new refrigerators aren't made the way they used to. I suspect some other parts to wear down faster too. BUT I do love this fridge. It looks beautiful and works like a charm right now.

I've had an opportunity now to use this frig for 2 weeks and it keeps everything very cold. maintains temps very well. The only issue i had was that I put 6 hard boiled eggs in and they froz over night. I'm not sure I can blaim the frig or where i put the eggs. I again placed eggs in but this time I put therm into one of the drawres and all went well. Although this refrigerator has a bit more cubic feet I find the inside configuration challenging. My old refrigerator also had french doors but also had a door within a door so I didn’t have to open the entire door, letting warm air enter, while getting what I needed. Also my old refrigerator had a better ice compartment which did not take up storage space. I do like the fingerprint free aspect though.

Purchased this product a few weeks ago. I like it very much. Different from out last frig, so it is taking some getting used to. Lots of storage space inside. The ice maker makes very small ice cubes and not the standard size. OK for us. Crushed ice is also good. I have not totally mastered the water dispenser yet. Depending on the width and depth of the glass or cup, the water drips or squirts out of the container and runs down the front of the refrigerator door. That means constant cleaning the stainless steel to keep it looking nice. Love the drawer space. Freezer space is also adequate for our family. Automatic slow door closer on the freezer is also taking some getting used to as the drawer starts to close while you are looking for "whatever" in the freezer. You have to hold on to the handle to keep it from closing on you. Not a big problem, just need to get used to it.

This is the second Refrigerator, the first one did not fit, due the refrigerator dor hinges. The n got a different one fits fine, but had to replace the ice maker and the heat strip in door. This refrigerator has great design. Kitchen Aid utilize the wood trim inside the fridge to enhance the luxury similar to luxury car. The door handles had red anodized cap end. It is an art piece and it is not seen in other brand. My last few fridge was LG, Samsung, KitchenAid and Maytag. My K-brand always die at 5th year and trouble to de-defrost. That is why I come back to KitchenAid. One of my major complain is the noise. It is very loud to a point that bother me very much. I almost take it back to the store. I am not sure if I am the only one has the loud noise unit.

Purchased in 2017. Within 18 months the “motherboard” died. After much complaining, kitchenaide replaced the refrigerator rather than repair it which I appreciated and also gave me an extended warranty which I also appreciated. About a year ago the ice dispenser stopped working because the ice would clump up. Multiple repair visits later and $ no one could figure out why it was happening. Each repair they tried didn’t work. So now we use ice trays which stinks but it is what it is. Also, the water temp from the dispenser randomly varies from very cold to only a little cold. Other than that I really do like the refrigerator but I wish I could use the ice dispenser!

Works fine, but we don't love the layout

We chose this counter depth model to gain more kitchen space in our remodel. In Kitchenaid, it was either this one or a 20 cubic foot model. While it claims 24' of space, it feels like much less than the 25' that we gave up with our old standard depth unit. The shelves have no adjustability up and down. Gallon storage is limited to the right door or the third shelf (if you retract the second shelf to make clearance for it). We would have liked to have seen fewer drawers and more shelves. It comes with a metal marinade pan that hangs under one of the shelves that just takes up space. The freezer feels quite small. On the plus side, the ice and water dispenser does fine. The exterior hides fingerprints and water spots much better than our last one. We also don't see food get buried in the back of the shelves since it's more visible with the shallower depth. This is a pricey refrigerator for what you get. If a standard depth would have fit our layout, we definitely would have gone that route.

Two issues that make me sorry that we purchased this model: 1) when you depress the water dispenser to fill a glass and then pull the glass away, water drips on the floor. It can be compensated for by leaving the glass under the spout for a split second, but that shouldn't be necessary. We know to do this, but when guests come to the house they assume it works like a normal water dispenser and I'm constantly wiping up water on the floor. . 2) In a normal refrigerator there is shelf space to place a bottle of milk, juice, box wine, etc. The shelf space does not allow this (and is not adjustable) and you have to place taller items in a side bin on the door that has limited capacity. A portion of the middle shelf slides back to allow taller items on the bottom shelf, but the location is a poor design because it limits what other items you can store on that shelf

Refrigerator space is limited

Needs a little help.

Doors are real hard to open for 68 year old people. Not like other doors we have had.. The left door will not shut on its own and you have to push it shut. The fridge freezes a lot of food on top. Maybe never was set up the way it should be.

We really don't like this refrigerator

Not crazy about this refrigerator. The doors are heavy and they don't easily close. The interior feels like it has a bit less room than my last refrigerator, and this one is taller. Both were counter-depth. It looks very industrial in our home compared to how it looked in the showroom. I regret purchasing this refrigerator

Great features when they work

Very noisy. Ice maker has already froze up and had to thaw it out. Doesn’t seem to make enough ice for 3 people. When available, ice quality is excellent. Water dispenser is great but it tends to spray water on floor due to the angle so I had to get a refrigerator floor mat.

I have had the refrigerator for a couple of weeks and I love the look and room inside the refrigerator section. Though, I can't get the drawers regulated. The one marked temperature controlled is freezing vegetables and other items. I have changed the controls for the drawer to each of the choices on the control panel and they all freeze things. I have reviewed the manual and the instructions for the drawers is not very easy to understand.

Louder than our old one, same model.

We purchased the same exact model after our 8 year old one quit working. This one runs louder and when the water fills is much louder than our old one. It does not seem like the same quality that we purchased 8 years ago. And that seems to be they typically life of refrigerators now. I expected longer.

Big, pretty but has some cons

I love the look and the size. But it is very loud for a high end appliance. I even had a warranty technician come in the first month to make sure all was okay. He made a few adjustments and found a fan that needed to be tightened. And now it’s even louder. Also the small plastic shelf on inside door falls out and breaks. I’ve already ordered one replacement in 6 weeks and it just fell and broke also.

At first it was quite a problem now it has been working pretty good. Still the ice maker continues to dispense ice after you move the glass away from the dispenser. The water dispenser also keeps running after you stop the button. It runs down the front side of the refrigerator

Nice Design, Poor Layout

I've only had this frige for a few weeks and its just OK in my book. Although the design is nice, the actual layout for the drawers and shelves is not that functional for my needs the19 cubic foot side by side it replaced has more usable space. and is sitting in the garage as a backup. The ice maker is slimmed down to make room but it doesn't hold enough cubes.

Overall the interior of this refridgerator is very nice. As a family we feel that the freezer is small and the ice maker does not keep up with family demand. We all use water refillable water bottles and there is never enough ice.

I bought this because I have the same exact model at my winter home. This one is much louder. Buyers should know that the ice capacity is very small and the "counter depth" still sticks out a long ways from the counter. This model is deeper than some other brands so measure carefully. We really like the look and features but wish that the it had the dual ice feature with ice made both in the door and in the freezer section.

We have had this refrigerator for about five months. It looks nice and the wood grain details on the inside make it better-than-average as far as aesthetics. However, the ice maker doesn’t work consistently and will sometimes stop making ice for no reason at all. I have to power it off and back on to reset it before it will make ice again. The Max Ice feature seems to be something added just to annoy the consumer because it never, ever makes ‘Max Ice.’ When the ice maker does work, it often spits out a couple of pieces of ice after I’ve walked away. Not cool. Lastly, the freezer is just too small to store very much. I figured when I bought it that this would be a problem, and it is. I wouldn’t buy this refrigerator again.

Like the in door ice maker

I love the refrigerator/freezer but it does make loud motor sound periodically that sounds like it comes from the freezer below. The sound occurs randomly and is louder when the freezer door is opened. The temperature seems to be holding at the proper temp. Maybe this is normal for this fridge but ive never heard one make this loud of noise when running.

Replaced Frig

It was replaced a month ago because the first refrigerator was never right. It rattled and the the doors were misaligned and dented. Finally, after 1 year and multiple attempts to correct the problems, we were able to get a new replacement. The new one works as expected except the water dispenser's flexible tube bangs against the side when the dispenser is released and the water stops. We liked kitchen aid but their quality is dropping.

For the price, I expected better

Overall, love the look of the fridge, and the interior layout, but there are a number of glaring usability and durability defects. The covers over the filters and anything designed to be removable is made of the cheapest and most fragile plastic. Multiple pieces snapped and broke on the first use/touch. It was terrifying trying to remove all the protective plastic wrap after install because I kept thinking it was going to cause the shelves to break or crack. The ice and water dispenser feels cheap and flimsy, and the tray does not stay put. Ice sprays all over the place when dispensing, and I dislike how close the water stream is to the activation button. I don't want unsterile glass rims touching any part of the dispenser equipment, but that's how it was designed. Basically, any part of this appliance that is not metal is not good quality. For the price, I expected more premium finishes. I just hope it lasts at least 5 years with few issues. It's still too early to tell what the impact is on my electrical bill, but I know it won't be pretty.

Good looking fridge, noisy & messy ice maker

This is the same fridge I purchased about 7 years ago. The last one had a defrosting issue due to too much air getting into the back panel where the weather stripping did not make a good seal, allowing too much air in causing it to frost up. I was disappointed that this was not recalled as my research online said it was a common issue. I changed the entire back panel, checked the thermistor, changed out the control board and was really frustrated that I could not repair it. I even had a service tech come out and he said that I did everything that he would have tried. I probably put up with it for almost a year trying to fix it. The area in which my fridge is placed fit it perfectly and the inside of it is made well and I liked the wood finish on the drawer, so I opted to buy another one anyways even though it was quite pricy. The thing that I don't understand is that the ice maker is really loud compared to my older model. It also takes some getting used to filling your glass with ice, as it always seems to miss the cup, and cubes fall to the floor. I wish I could get the other one fixed to have as a garage fridge, as it is taking up valuable space.

Beautiful refrigerator; Compromised functionality

I bought this refrigerator 3 days ago. The in-door ice bin is extremely small even for a two person household. Enough so, I would deem it a convenience feature. A second ice maker in the freezer compartment would make this unit a winner. As it is, I would call it completely inadequate. I am returning this unit. Sad to say so as it is a beautiful unit. Lack of functionality is a deal breaker. KitchenAid used to be a marquee brand; today it's average at best these days. I should have done better on my homework as I just purchased an entire suite of products. Can you say.....buyer's remorse!!!!

Hard to open Freezer door is a dealbreaker

Have never owned a kitchen aid refrigerator before but needed a counter depth frig for our new home, so purchased a counter depth, bottom mount, cafe style kitchen aid. The inside looks nice with faux hardwood trim and there’s ample space on the shelves and in the deli drawers. Produce is staying fresh. Door shelves are ok- hold a medium amount. But the dealbreaker for this refrigerator is the pull out bottom freezer drawer. It is so difficult to open that I contacted the warranty line and asked for an appliance repair person to come, which they did. However, there is no remedy for the difficult to open drawer. I was told that due to the negative pressure in the freezer, this door would remain hard to open. I’m 62 years old and don’t appreciate that Kitchen Aid can’t make this refrigerator with an easier to open freezer door. Never again kitchen aid!

Terrible Quality

We have had this refrigerator for a couple of years and have had a repair man out multiple times. The refrigerator will freeze items. The freezer will stop working randomly the water dispenser will stop working the icemaker will stop working sometimes we can flip the breaker and wait five minutes and it’ll fix the problem I’ve had every circuit board replaced on the refrigerator. I’ve also had seals replaced. It is now out of warranty and I’m paying to have this expensive refrigerator fixed again.

One star because the ice maker has never worked, is now cracked, and we actually had to buy a separate ice maker that we place on the counter to have ice. We can't find anyone to fix it . Additionally, it would be at our own expense, if we could. Zero standing behind this product. We purchased this in 2021, received it in 2022, and it was faulty at the start. We are doing a refresh on our kitchen, and will change all of our KitchenAid appliances (the whole package) to another company. I really trusted KitchenAid, and am so disappointed. This is a gorgeous refrigerator, which prompted us to purchase it in the first place. I need function to go with the beauty, though.

Constant Buzzing Noise/Loud

This fridge (as hundreds of other reviews note) has a loud buzzing noise that can be heard in a different room every time the fan comes on. KitchenAid is trying to blame the cabinet surround, but clearly that is not the issue based on all of the reviews with the same exact issue. Very frustrating that they are no help in fixing this issue, and told us that if we have another tech out we will be charged for the visit -- even though the refrigerator was installed (2) months ago.

Lemon or poor design?

Water filter immediately leaked and froze ice in the bottom and leaked into freezer compartment as well. Ice dispenser throws ice pieces onto tray and the floor when dispensing ice, no matter how tight you hold the cup or glass to the dispenser door. You have to plant your feet and jerk to get the freezer door open.

This refrigerator is less than 2 years old and it hasn’t worked right at all. The ice maker has stopped dispensing ice, the back of the refrigerator freezes things, and there is ice and water buildup on the bottom of the fridge that constantly leaks onto my floor. I have had repair personnel out at least 6 times and they have not been able to fix it. I wish I would have seen these reviews before I purchased this refrigerator, I would never have bought it.

Terrible ice maker

The ice cube maker is terrible! It constantly overflows and the tray always sticks, so we can't remove it to get the huge chunks out. Do not recommend the refrigerator (KRFC704FPS05). While trying to remove the tray today, it stopped dispensing water and ice. Checking the troubleshooting guide on the door, the 1st line "Dispenser Locked", with no instructions on how to unlock it! Finally, food in the rear area of the refrigerator tends to freeze. It is barely 2 years old and we've been having issues with it for almost a year now - out of warranty!

Great Aesthetics

It looks nice but the rubber is cheap and has already ripped in less than six months. When it pulls water to make ice from your R/O, it makes a loud noise and the ice cubes are small. The left side door does not stay open by itself and you will constantly have to lean against it or hold it open. This makes putting groceries away by yourself take a little longer or if you are not paying attention, the door will slam shut.

Noisy refrigerator

This Refrigerator is the worst Kitchenaid product I have purchased in over 20 years! I bought this one in December of 2025 and it has a serious defect: NOISE! Whenever we use ice and the water refills the ice maker, it makes noise loud enough to be heard in our family room with the TV on. I have had a service tech out twice and he now says the noise is "within limits" and is caused bu the water running in the water lines in the refrigerator. I cannot believe that this model was produced and was deemed acceptable to be sold for consumer use. I would like for someone responsible to contact me about this.

Looks Great But VERY Poor Quality

We purchased over 9k in Kitchen Aid appliances in 2020 and now, have to replace TWO of them. This refrigerator is one of the two. We have had issues with this fridge very early on (ice dispenser, compressor) and have to contact our home insurance and Kitchen Aid over five times in the past few years. Last Summer the compressor on this unit went out and we paid for the replacement. Less than a year later, the same compressor has gone out and now we are forced to purchase a NEW fridge. We contacted Kitchen Aid and all they are offering us in a 20% discount off of a new purchase. So let me get this right---you want me to spend an additional 4k with you (fridge, microwave) because of your poor manufacturing?

Flawed designed, might be a lemon.

I’ve had this refrigerator for 4 months now. It is gorgeous, I will say that, and the fingerprint guard works well. However, it does not regulate temperature at all and I have condensation issues inside the refrigerator. My refrigerator is set to 37 degrees. The deli drawer is 30-32 degrees, the bottom shelf is 36-38 degrees, middle shelf is 40-42 degrees and the top shelf is 42-45 degrees. I have had eggs break from being frozen and had food spoil from being too warm at the same time. I have had it serviced twice now in its first 4 months with no solution. The service tech told me it’s a known design flaw. We are already looking to replace our refrigerator with a different model.

Nice looking refrigerator but makes constant noise

I have owned this refrigerator for six weeks. The refrigerator looks great and has good functionality and features. However it constantly makes noise which sounds like a washing machine pump draining water. My kitchen is never quiet, and I can hear the noise in adjacent rooms. I have contacted my dealer to see what I can do to initiate a return as I am not happy with it and do not want to keep it.

Horrible Product

We did a remodel and purchased all KitchenAid appliances. Installed October 2025. Happy with all other products but this is the worst freezer and fridge is only ok. The ice cream does not stay frozen (gets very soft and lots of ice) and bananas (which I had froze individually) freeze into one brown blob. Had a tech out twice and he said it was because the appliance has a defrost function that causes the freezer to potentially go to 40 degrees. He also blamed it on the sugar content of the ice cream and bananas. Other frozen items have ice on them from the variance in temp. The repairman has been out twice, both times reads the freezer temp and says that it is fine. Clearly he is reading the temp when it is not in defrost mode. The second time he came out he said to move the freezer temp to -5. This visit was not covered even though appliance is under a year. We were NOT told it would not be covered. Called and tried to get a one time concession and KitchenAid said NO. The temp to -5 helps but I purchased a temp probe and according to the app the temp in a week goes from a high of 25 to a low of -13.7. Other issues: The fridge has frozen the vegetables a couple of times in the crisper. The vents for fridge are in the middle of the 3 rows and they cannot be blocked so it limits the space in fridge for storage. Water-we are in a warm climate, the water dispensor only holds a couple of cups of water that remains cold, after that is used, water is warm. OK for 2 people but would NOT work for a family. Very Disappointing!

Terrible refrigerator

Super Loud Ice maker

We have had nothing but trouble with this fridge. It's stopped cooling properly multiple times. We have had it fixed 3 times and again, it's broken. It also barely makes any ice. We NEVER have enough ice. The only good thing about it is that it's beautiful, but a terrible product and I see I am not the only one who thinks so.

Not practical for a large family

We probably should have purchased a fridge that was bigger so that we would not have to be so careful with how we store our food. Kitchen Aid made this fridge aesthetically pleasing with a unique and custom look. However, shelves and compartments are designed as such that they do not allow the larger items fit very well (like gallon and half gallons, anything "tallish," a casserole size pan in the freezer, etc.) even with the ability to move a couple of the shelves, it is still difficult. We have to unbox anything that is sold in a pack like snack mixes and yogurts, etc. When attempting to put leftovers in the fridge, or if I am preparing food for a party, I am rearranging most of the contents on three of the shelves to fit everything. This might sound funny, but I have the worst time when trying to figure out where to move cartons of eggs. I'm thankful we thought to keep our old fridge for overflow. My kids also complain that the water that comes out of the door is lukewarm. They use it to fill up their water bottles before school because it is filtered (we live on a well) and they are used to the water being cold (our GE fridge had very cold water that would dispense). Obviously, they can add ice from the door's ice maker, but it does not make that much ice (the reservoir is small). Unfortunately, I did not do my due diligence to examine this fridge's freezer. The sections are all just a little too small to store things such as a frozen lasagna, unless it is a small one. There is no ice maker in the freezer, however there is a very shallow, metal pan you could store about four cups of ice. The section reserved to store the metal ice pan does not make sense with the size of the pan. If Kitchen Aid would have made the freezer compartments able to be manipulated by the user, even for a couple of the divided sections, that would have been helpful. I give this product two stars. One is because it looks nice and the other is because it keeps things cold. This would be a nice product for people who are empty-nesters or a family of four no more than four people. Not for a chef's kitchen or for large families.

Terrible fridge

Fridge is 5 years old and a piece of junk! The thermostat on the control panel has went out 3 times since I’ve had it! When this goes out it causes your ice to melt and the top 2 shelves no longer are cool. I had the part replaced and less than 7 months it has went out again!! Now the replacement part is unavailable and I am going on 2 months without a fridge!! DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE!!!

Not as good as it used to be

We purchased this refrigerator to replace the same model that stopped working after 7 years. We were under a time crunch, so we didn't have time to do the research on a new type of refrigerator and figured it would be easiest to get the same one again since we knew the features, functions, and that it would fit in the space. This fridge is of a lesser quality, louder, and not as good as the one we purchased 7 years ago. It is disappointing that the quality has gone downhill and that appliances aren't what you expect anymore.

The unit makes a loud gurgling noise. I assume some of the piping was crushed when it was installed inside the insulation. A technician has visited but Kitchenaide required installing some useless isolation pads first. It is obviously not going to work. We are 2 month in now and getting it replaced has not gone well.

Nice to look at, but falls short in so many ways

We are a loyal KitchenAid household and have been for many years. Every appliance in the two houses we have owned have been KitchenAid and we have been pleased overall with all of them until we decided to "upgrade" our 14 year old side by side last Thanksgiving. Initially we replaced it with a side by side (model: KRSC703HPS), but after the 3rd time having that model delivered with the same manufacturing defect, we switched to this French door model. At nearly double the price we expected it to be made better, but that isn't the case and the design is absolutely terrible. First, this thing makes a lot of noise and while some of them are "normal", there is one that definitely isn't. It is a relatively faint sound, but once you hear it, you can't unhear it and it drives us crazy. Unfortunately, when we had a tech come out to look at it, it wasn't making the noise and he left without doing anything. Second, the interior design of this refrigerator is terrible and we feel like it doesn't fit as much as our old side by side. The shelves only have two positions and tall items do not fit anywhere. The dumb sliding shelf within the bottom shelf which is supposed to make room for taller items just doesn't seem to accommodate much. The ridiculous marinade tray which nobody will ever use takes up much need space and the crisper drawers are totally misaligned and crooked. The ice and water dispenser are poorly designed too and we spill water often. It does look good and it keeps food cold and frozen, but it's not made well and we don't expect it to last. Do better KitchenAid.

Poor design.

Plagued with problems. Ice maker has required multiple repairs and now the freezer will not get below 20f and the fridge won't get very cold. Pulled apart and vaccumed/cleaned the vents/fans. All of which are clear and in working order. Moved everything to our die hard kenmore garage fridge/freezer which has been working flawlessly for 20 years. Can't find a repair person that wants to even look at it.

I don't like the shelving that can't be adjusted. Milk and other larger containers will not fit under the shelf and is inconvenient to move them every time I need the item behind it. When multiple containers prohibit access to items behind it, I wish I would have purchased a different fridge. It's also noisier than my previous fridge.

I won't buy Kitchen aid KRFC704 Frenc door again

I have owned a KFRC704 French door refrigerator. It is less than 5 years old and the freezer does not freeze and ice maker does not work. I have had 3 service companies come out only to tell me a new compressor and evaporator is needed. I can buy another Brand for the same cost of what parts and labor to fix mine would be and no warranty on repairs if I choose to have it fixed. Whirlpool did offer a 20 % discount on a new one, but I think I will pass.

Our ice maker broke after the first year and our freezer will randomly stop cooling things and we have had to throw out food twice. After delivery we noticed that the plastic drawers were crooked. a technician by the name of Dalton came. looked at it and said it is a cosmetic issue. He claimed it is a flaw in the design and he could do nothing. He also said the extended warranty does not cover cosmetic issues. Talking to the manager, he also did not come up with any solution. He tried to smooth it over. Very poor relations. It left a sour taste in mouth. Of course our story has been related in our area. It is a shame that the first thing we see when we open the doors is 2 crooked drawers.

Would not purchase again- bad quality

Repairman said it could be any number of issues and too expensive to repair vs replace due to complexity of this model. This is an expensive refrigerator and should last longer than 5 years. Very disappointing.

It’s a dud - avoid at all costs

We’ve had this refrigerator for about 18 months and it is a constant headache. The front panel randomly activates and makes noises, the water dispenser will stop in the middle of dispensing water, food freezes in the back and, most importantly the refrigerator leaks from the bottom. We’ve had KitchenAid people out to repair at least 6 times and not only have they not fixed the issue, but kitchen aid is telling us that now we are out of the warranty period and it’s not their problem. Avoid this refrigerator and this brand. The last time the repair guy was out here, he said he’s seeing this issue pop up a lot with these models.

Having issues!

However, the noise remains unchanged and I’m concerned about the longevity of operation. I’ll have to call for service again. It’s a beautiful and very expensive refrigerator!

We bought a lemon!

We spent a lot of money for this refrigerator and have been very disappointed! It’s brand new and not a month old! The gasket had to be replaced because air was coming thru the door. Also the ice maker was not getting to the correct temperature to make sufficient ice. That part has been ordered! Instead of replacing this lemon, they are just patching it up! We have had kitchenaid products and this has been the worse experience yet!

We have had this unit about two years now, we have replaced door gaskets twice, ice machine once. The freezer is not designed well, doesn't hold much. The ice dispenser clogs up often and doesn't hold much ice. Not happy or impressed with this unit, had to buy a separate freezer to store products.

Great for leaking all over and destroying your foo

So far we are on the third refrigerator because the first two leaked water from the ice maker down into the freezer and all over the floor. We had to turn the icemaker off on the third refrigerator when we were away from home because we have no confidence it won't happen again ruining the food in the freezer and wrecking our kitchen floor. I would not recommend Kitchenaid and would be unlikely to purchase the brand again.

Less than stellar start—Disappointed

My purchase was about a month ago and for the first three weeks it was not cooling in the upper cabin and no ice was produced. The freezer worked—the only thing working. There was no air filter in the upper cabin and the water was pre-installed and I was concerned about the safety of drinking water and ice, if ever produced. I was told up to 48-hours may be required before the unit was fully operational—for me it took three weeks before someone finally came out to investigate and repair. Last assessment was the motor/fan was not working. Not off to a great start. It looks good visually. It is now working to cool the upper cabinet, there is regular ice production and the air filter for the upper cabin was installed. Still no follow up on the water filter or on the multiple service calls/requests.

It makes a terrible clicking noises that sound like a roller-coaster ascending several times an hour which the FAQ's describe as "normal" when it changes chambers. The worst part is that they send out repair people to try and fix it before they will replace it so you are stuck with no refridgerator while you wait on repair people that can't fix it. Frustrated

I bought this refrigerator 4 years ago and have had problems with the refrigerator freezing food and the freezer thawing and building large amounts of frost. I have lost a lot of food and feel frustrated that I can’t trust this refrigerator to do what it is supposed to do which leaves me no other choice but to store vulnerable foods in my 12 year old garage refrigerator. I expected more from this kitchen aid “platinum” refrigerator, which is why I was willing to spend more to purchase it. During the first year my refrigerator was serviced for this problem by kitchen aid warranty but after that period my extended warranty took over. Over the past 5 months, I have wasted hours on the phone or in my kitchen while repairs are attempted. They have replaced 6 major components of this refrigerator at the direction of the Kitchen Aid tech line and still the problem persists. It is a beautiful refrigerator and looks very high end, I just wished it functioned as good as it looks- the reviewers who have had a good experience should consider themselves lucky because I feel I’ve been sold a lemon.

We moved into our newly built home and decided to splurge on this refrigerator. It looks great, but we have had constant problems with the ice maker. After several service calls and even the installation of a new ice maker, it still freezes up and fails to dispense the ice. Fortunately we have an inexpensive, several years old refrigerator with an ice maker in our garage. As a military family, this old refrigerator has been moved multiple times and still dispenses ice without fail!!! But given the cost of this supposedly high quality Kitchen Aid refrigerator, we should not have to rely on going out to the garage to get our ice from our twenty year old Magic Chef. Kitchen Aid should be embarrassed by the reviews that are on this site. They will surely damage their brand!!!!! They ought to care and do something about it. DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR, ESPECIALLY IF THE CONVENIENCE OF AN ICE MAKER IS IMPORTANT TO YOU!

buyer’s remorse!

TLDR: DO NOT BUY! My partner and I bought this refrigerator in December of 2023, and by the end of 2024 we had 6 or more warranty visits from a technician ranging from a compressor replacement, motherboard replacement, seal replacement and many more issues. The refrigerator at one point was unusable because it was not cooling to temp. It was forever frosting over underneath the freezer drawer and leaking onto our kitchen floor. The ice maker was out of commission for half of 2024 (this is a BRAND NEW “high end” machine) because it flat out wouldn’t dispense ice, and now, in April 2025, it has stopped making ice altogether. We, like the other one star reviews, thought we were making a good choice on something that would last a long time. We were had. Shame on kitchenaid and their lack of concern for cheating their customers. We will soon be calling them trying yet again to fix this expensive junk they sold us.

We’ve had this refrigerator since October 2023, and it has been a constant issue. From almost the start, the fridge has never worked properly — everything in the refrigerator section freezes, while items in the freezer thaw. We’ve thrown away so much food because of this. It’s been “repaired” multiple times, but the issue keeps coming back. At this point, it’s clear the appliance is either poorly designed or defective. Total waste of money and time.

Think Twice!

Bought this frig in 2020 (before the shutdown) along with all other KitchenAid appliances with our kitchen remodel. I have been so happy with all the appliance with the exception of this refrigerator. Within the first few months we had to completely replace the icemaker (left side) door due to the water line being cut during production. It took 3 service trips to our home and it wasn’t until my son and I started looking closely at the icemaker parts that WE noticed the cut line. The adjustable temperature drawer, regardless of setting, freezes food. NOW, after only 5 years, the “mother” board has to be repaired if possible. Not replaced because it has been discontinued and a spare cannot be found anywhere. The top 3 shelves of the frig are not cooling at all (60 degrees in my frig) but that adjustable temperature drawer is good. Go figure! I concur with all other reviews, it is a very noisy refrigerator; ice maker, water dispenser, fan and random groaning. I believe this refrigerator needed to be recalled the moment in came off the line. It did take us 6 months, after our kitchen was completed to get it, too. Please read other reviews and think twice before buying this particular refrigerator.
