Performs Well

Overall, this is a good-looking refrigerator which stays at the correct temperature (both freezer and refrigerator). Setting the temperature is easier than previous units that I've had - you can set an actual number (instead of higher or lower) via a digital pad on the front. That said, it's a really complicated device - I kind of miss the simple older type. This one comes with a water dispenser and ice maker which I cannot use since there's no water pipe behind the refrigerator, but, almost all refrigerators have those now. If it was hooked up to water, the set-up would have been very, very complicated (in my opinion). The Owner's Manual doesn't have the detailed operating instructions that might be expected; instead, things like setting the temperature are all in a 1-page "Quick Start Guide." The owner's manual has a lot about removing the doors, leveling, ice maker, water filter, connecting the water supply, etc. The interior of the refrigerator came with lots and lots and LOTS of tape and plastic and Styrofoam which took a long time to remove. The doors had plastic wrap on them and it was difficult to get the small bits off the edges - they had installed edges over the wrap. Thankfully, I was able to remove the door handles to get the plastic wrap out from under those. Aside from those inconveniences, I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Ice dispenser area

Great fridge but.. light does not stay on where the ice/ water are dispensed. Turns in if used or door opened. Previous fridge did and it was nice when using in the dark Area where ice/ water is dispensed is smaller in height so only a few “ yeti-style” mugs fit. Previous fridge was taller in this opening.

The water dispenser plate is to high so you have to use your hand to push against the plate and it still stops abruptly. I do wish the whole box was bigger as I can't get a 10 inch tall cup to fit in it. I think the on/ off switch for ice should be somewhere else than behind the ice bucket.

Very good but haed to get assistance

Overall, this is a great refrigerator, but the door pockets/shelves cannot be moved. I called whirlpool and experienced a hard push to sign up for their warranty program. I was unable to get any other assistance. I finally had to get rude to end the call. The online manual was not for our model. I then called the seller who had to set up a service call.

Okay so far

Generally OK so far. This fridge is definitely louder than our previous fridge (Bosch), which you could barely hear running. It's a counter depth which we needed and fits in the space well. Interior layout is good though the shelves and drawers seem a bit more flimsy than previous unit. The exterior looks good. Hope it lasts as long as the Bosch did, 15+ years without an issue.

Noisy but OK

It’s noisier than our previous refrigerator, but it’s fine. We bought this one because it’s white on the three sides that show. I do wish it was the pebble finish like the old ones used to have since it shows puppy nose prints and fingerprints just like stainless, maybe even more. Home Depot’s delivery and install was great. We bought the extended warranty through them since refrigerators don’t last like the old ones. Our beer fridge is 30+ years old and still works great (wrong color). The counter depth looks great and space is well designed.

Stylish and roomy

I've owned this for a week and am so far very satisfied with it. It is very stylish and has plenty of room for a counter depth refrigerator. I can even fit 12-pack soda boxes in it. It's a little noisier than expected but nothing that causes an issue. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

First Counter Depth

This is our first Counter Depth refrigerator. So far, so good! We made the move to a counter depth because we are empty nesters now. The interior lighting is super bright without being overpowering. The in door ice maker gives us extra shelf space in the freezer. The door shelves on the refrigerator side are moveable which gives us plenty of storage options.

Whirlpool is the best lasting

This frig is replacing my French door lg counter dept that had every option on it. I could have replaced it with the same but it is so much more $$$ and didn’t last very long. I have an old whirlpool frig in my garage that I use and it is lasting longer than any frig I have put in my kitchen. So, my new house frig replacement this time is now a whirlpool. I’m confident it will last. Plus the stainless steel finish looks better all the time. Fingerprints don’t show as much.

Solid Fridge

We bought this to replace a high-end Samsung fridge that no one in our area could repair when it broke after less than 3 years from purchase. The Whirlpool is an excellent and affordable choice. Excellent reviews. Both sides are very light and it’s easy to see what’s on the shelves and in the drawers. We like the auto fill option on the water as everyone in the family carries reusable water bottles to work and school. Initially thought the kick-plate was missing because it doesn’t look terribly finished on the front bottom of the fridge but that’s minor. Seems like it could come with another door shelf and another internal shelf or two but I bet we could buy those on our own.

Time Will Tell

Overall we are satisfied with our new refrigerator thus far (only had 2 months). The ice maker seems to mix cube and crushed ice together. The other concern is the location and operation of the water and ice dispensing paddles ( the way they are recessed against the refrigerator makes operation difficult. We previously had a Kenmore refrigerator for 25 years and this new Whirlpool came closest to size, setup and features of our old one. I hope this refrigerator will last half as long as the old Kenmore.

As a senior citizen I just want to say that appliances are getting harder to operate. Maybe a short overview from the installer would help. They set the refrigerator temp at 36° & most of my food froze inside the refrigerator. I had to Google what the ideal temp should be and the tap here and there trying to find the right place to adjust the temp.

Downsized to my retirement house so chose a counter depth fridge. Works well, controls are intuitive, the internal LED lighting is great. Only thing I ended up not liking is that the internal ice maker/water and ice bucket take up a lot of freezer space. I probably notice it more as I had a larger side by side plus a stand up freezer at the old house. Easily made adjustments and it's doing the job.

And I don't like how the ice and water paddles are not very responsive and operate at a strange pushing angle - hard to tell if you are pushing hard enough or not. Water flow is slow as well. My old GE refrigerator gave out after 25 years and I needed to replace it. I hope this one is also good for 25 years. At this point, I do have one complaint. The refrigerator came with only 3 shelves although it had spacers for 4. I had to go to a glass shop to buy a tempered glass that was cut to the appropriate size.

Purchased in January 2026. The manual isn’t clear as to what air filters and Produce Preservers are on which models. Manual states(on some models) We didn’t know if the are filter came with the Produce Preservers or not. Even the store that we purchased it from thought the filter and preserver came in one package, but it’s separate as we found out when we ordered it online. Anyway, our model didn’t have the preserver only the filter feature. So confusing. Water drips out of water spout leaves drip spots. Otherwise refrigerator is good.

I have used this refrigerator for a few months and really like the amount of room there is inside even though it is counter depth. Nice shelf and drawer options. Very attractive exterior. And I really like the extra kitchen space by having this counter-depth side. The reason for less than 5 stars is due to that I must keep some foods to the right side of frig due to avoid freezing. Certain items, for example: eggs, lettuce or produce, will freeze when touching the right side of the refrigerator. I've altered the thermostat to a low setting, but this continues to happen.

Very nice unit -- a true improvement over my old 30 yr old Amana. I love that the ice machine is in the freezer door, rather than at the top of the freezer compartment. It allows for more accessible storage. I like the smart features, like the fan turning off when either door opens, so it's not trying to cool the kitchen. I really like the LED lighting along the sides of each compartment. Much better than the old overhead bulbs.

Fridge is fine, works as I expected it should. Only thing I don't like about it is the ice maker. The ice maker makes oddly shaped (pyramid shaped) cubes that are too small and melt too quickly for my taste. It is also quite noisy when dispensing those pyramid shaped cubes.

This is the first time I have had the convenience of having water and ice served from the door and will never go back to the old ways of ice trays and pitchers. The multiple drawers also provide convenient storage. With the side by side design I can store both frequently used freezer and refrigerator items at a proper height to save my aching back. Lacks features I was used to

I had a Whirlpool counter depth refrigerator in my last house and when I bought my new place, I replaced the old fridge that was here with a new Whirlpool. The performance is similar, I like the water filter placement better than what was in my other refrigerator, one thing I don’t like is the ability to see the amount of water that is being dispensed. On my old fridge I could see how many ounces were being dispensed, the new one only allows for a preset amount which is annoying. I could also check on the filter to see how much life was left, the new one doesn’t allow for that. I would have given 5 stars but these changes have lowered my rating.

NIce, but not perfect

Nice refrigerator. A couple things annoy me though. The shelves on the door can only be positioned in a certain manner, that don't allow for taller items like wine bottles to be stored there. Similarly the shelves in the main part of the appliance are limited in how they can be inserted, so they cannot be arranged completely to my liking. Another thing is the ice maker, which makes smaller cubes than I was accustomed to with my former fridge, and to retrieve them, as well as the water, requires pressing on the top of the dispenser levers rather than the lower part. This makes it somewhat awkward, especially if using a paper cup instead of a hard sided container. The water filter is an unnecessary feature that I hope isn't mandatory to replace for continued operation of the unit.

I've had the refrigerator for only 2 weeks so this will be limited. The definition of a good refrigerator is 1 that lasts longer than 8.5 years, the duration of my last 2. We will see on that. Its very nice looking, great lighting, etc. The only negative I've seen so far is the sound. Mine is in an enclosure so that may magnify things a bit. It has a very noticeable whistle. I've looked into sound deadening options but would love some advice from whirlpool.

Happy with my first Whirlpool

My 8yr old GE refrigerator died and I decided to go with this Whirlpool for a few reasons but mainly because it was one of the few that fit our space. I have been happy with the new refrigerator, it looks great, has more space than the GE and my daughter loves the crushed ice. The only negatives I have are it’s a tad bit louder than our old unit and the water dispenser is a little more challenging to use having to pushing against it vs having a lever. Overall we are happy with the purchase.

Originally I had bought a new refrigerator in February. It had a design flaw with the water dispenser dripping water down on the freezer door agʻnd hitting the floor. After not being able to fix the problem, Whirlpool offered a replacement. I picked out thus model. So far I've been very happy with it. I like that the water dispenser sits back with the ice cube dispenser. The ice cube holder (which is small) is attached to the freezer door and easy to take in and out. This fridge is big enough for two but I believe too small for a family.

shelf size

so far good frig and fits our space. However, the spacing of the refrigerator shelves needs work. the top shelf and next backet are 11 and 18 inches from the roof respectively, so you can't put the shelf in the top slot and still use for a bottle of wine or champagne ( is approx 12 inches, champagne an inch more). Putting the shelf in the second slot wastes 6 to 8 inches at the top that could be used better below. Only two door bins are tall enough, but putting tall bottles in the door never works as they are too easy to tip when opening the door.

Spaciously Slim

Door icemaker motor does not seem very strong and hopefully will last. I chose the color white, which Is not easy to get in refrigerators nowadays and blends well in my white kitchen. Overall, the refrigerator performs adequately and meets basic cooling needs. However, one concern I have is that it tends to be noticeably louder than I expected, especially compared to my previous Whirlpool side-by-side model, which operated very quietly and lasted for more than 16 years without major issues. The current unit produces intermittent humming and vibration noises that can be disruptive, particularly in an open-concept kitchen area. While the technicians have assured me that this level of noise is considered normal for newer models, it still feels excessive compared to the performance and durability of older appliances. I was also informed by several technicians that many modern appliances are not built to last as long as those made years ago, with an average life expectancy of only about 5 to 6 years. This is quite disappointing given the cost and expectations for reliability. I hope manufacturers will consider improving long-term durability and noise control in future models.

What's not as good are the following: outside water and ice dispenser push pads versus previous push arms; taste of filtered water; dark grey finish of stainless steel; frequent continuous running of the compressor.

My wife absolutely loves it I guess I do too. The extra 4 inches gained in reduced depth is quite noticeable in the kitchen. What I am finding is that because of the smaller refrigerator side from our old side by side fridge is the temperature doesn't need to be set so low to keep items cold so that saves on electricity. We do like the outside water and ice compartment. We didn't have one before.

I received my new refrigerator 1 week ago and so far, with one exception I am happy with it. I asked the installation people about how easily it was moving when they pushed on it and they didn't seem concerned. Upon my using it, it rolls forward when I open the doors, so I am continually rolling it back into place. I'm guessing there must be a way to lock the rolling mechanism but as of yet haven't found it.

I love my new refrigerator! My old Whirlpool refrigerator lasted 40 years. The ice maker had stopped working and the fridge had starting sweating around the top seal. Thus, I decided it was time for a new refrigerator. It took me a while to find the perfect fridge for my kitchen space. I had a limited space, thus the normal height and width would not fit. This refrigerator was a perfect fit! If this new refrigerator lasts half as long (20 years) I will be very happy! Thank you Whirlpool!

TOO COOL COUNTER DEPTH

This new fridge was a replacement due to a nonrepairable issue that sometimes happens. Whirlpool was very accommodating under warranty protection. Although, my fridge was discontinued they supplied me with new one which I love! The counter depth side by side fits perfectly in my smaller kitchen in my new townhouse. A beautiful stainless steel with plenty of room for a older, single divorced woman starting a new chapter in her life. It is almost perfect! Just wish I could dispense ice and fill water with a 2nd cup at the same time as my other model; going to have to get the manual out to check it that is a possibility!!!

They are not all the same size (3 different attachment shapes)and cannot be placed at the height I would like them. We went to a Whirlpool from and LG that was great until it wasn't. The Whirlpool is very nice asthetically, keep fridge items nice and cool, still trying to figure out where to put things on the shelves... eggs froze solid. This one doesn't have the "egg section" at the top on the door so that a negative. The ice maker is really loud when you get ice. Like the more squarish cubes though. The water/ice dispenser needs to be taller to fit all the larger water bottles. You can't see when its to the top and have to tilt it then it spills. Otherwise, it works well. Has a good amount of room on both the fridge and freezer. We'll lit. Runs fairly quiet. Being able to wipe the fingerprints off is a must have!

Missing Feature(s)

Overall Whirlpool delivers as expected. This was an unexpected (albeit over due) pricey purchase for me and I am a little dismayed with the quality of the new materials used. My previous refrigerator felt more solid; a metal exterior as opposed to plastic, heavier glass shelving with better options for height adjustment, heavier baskets in the freezer section, and finally the interior lighting. Additionally my previous purchase came with a printed owners manual. After 15 years of mostly faithful service with a minimum of out of warranty service calls it went the way of all things, man made or natural. My minimal but annoying disappointment with the new refrigerator is that I’ve yet to be able to calibrate the measured fill and I am very disappointed that the previous option of a manual measured fill is no longer an option. By-in-large, I am relatively pleased and very hopeful that my newest purchase will outlive/last me.

We really like the appearance of the new refrigerator and shelving configuration. Haven't had it long but everything works so far. The only two items that brought this rating down to a 4/5 is that the refrigerator is noisy when running compared to our old Kenmore side-by-side. The ice maker also makes a lot of noise when the ice drops into the plastic receptacle. Luckily, we don't use much ice.

I don't know why I waited so long to replace my old refrigerator. The ice maker had stopped and the drawers were falling off the rails. Such stress (albeit first world, I admit). The Whirlpool is so well lit and the I LOVE that the icemaker is in the door. Gave us a whole shelf in the freezer! I also love the shape of the ice cubes--the old elongated cubes were guaranteed to fall out of your hands. With this smaller ones, you can grab a handful and put them right in your container.

The fridge appears well made. Our first issue was that eggs were freezing, even with the refrigerator side set at 38 F. It makes me wonder how stable the temperature will be. A minor issue is that the water dispenser is too small to get our electric kettle under it. That was no problem with the previous fridge, a 24 C.F. (18 year old) Whirlpool.

Big bang for the money

We needed a refrigerator for our pool house. I knew I did not want one that the freezer was on the bottom. Food gets lost in those and I just have not like the last 2 I have purchased just for that reason. We decided to go back to a side by side. I think this one is great. The ice machine makes nice square-like cubes and the fridge itself is roomy. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I wish the ice machine was faster. However that’s only because I was having a large gathering. On a side note, my sister has their fridge and loves it too.

Poor refrigerator door design

For the time, I have had the refrigerator for three weeks. Only Issue I have is the refrigerator door does not allow you to move holding bins a round. Because of this normally where I had my milk in my old refrigerator, I not able to place the holding bin in the slot, it only allowed the smaller bin in its place. Plus, they give two small bins. Three large bins, and you basically either set it one way, or you don't use one large bin, So, design of front door poor, I bet they will sale a set of small bins. LOL

Bought this to replace a refrigerator that was boxed in by cabinets and a panel so I was limited in my options due to measurements. I like the shelving configuration and the flexible storage on the door. I like the round ice cubes but when the water is sent to form the ice it makes a high pitched noise. It is brief but would be annoying if close to bedrooms.

Somebody designed this with actual families (not interior Design magazine) in mind...no bending down with blood rushing to your head every time you need something from the freezer...no ice cubes shaped so that no human hand can hold more than 1 without dropping the rest. Plenty of room for a variety of butters (that's us!), the drawers pull out smoothly, ice is brilliantly stored in the door, opening up a whole shelf we never had before.I absolutely love everything about this appliance.

A Well Thought Out Refrigerator

The interior lighting features a slow turn on like stage lighting which makes it more comfortable than most. Even the indicators on the exerior control panel dim part way when they're not in use.

Whirlpool has so many nice stainless steel refrigerators to choose from, but this one was the perfect model for me. The counter depth fit's perfectly in my refrigerator tunnel in my new home, and it matches all my other Whirlpool stainless steel appliances. I like the features of it especially the crushed ice and water dispenser which I use constantly, and it's design layout works for my lifestyle. This was the best fit for me.

This was bought to replace a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator that we had and loved for over a decade. This new Whirlpool cools down quickly and freezes food well. There seems to be more condensation that builds up when you open either the freezer or refrigerator. The fan is loud and the Everydrop water filter is already showing signs of reduced flow after two weeks of use. It's the "A" size filter and it is expensive for it's size. Our old model used a size 3 filter and lasted 6 months without any problems at all. The fan noise and water filter are the reason for the four star rating. I'm hoping to get the same service life from this one as I did from my last one.

Good replacement for old Whirlpool side by side

This is a nicely updated version of the refrigerator we replaced it with, a 22 yr. old Whirlpool Gold side by side with water and ice through the door. The exterior measurements of the new unit are almost identical to the old refrigerator, but it seems a bit more spacious inside. The shelves in both compartments could use a few more options in terms of placement, and perhaps even the option of an extra shelf for each compartment. The storage bins for vegetables, fruits, etc. aren't quite as nice as the old unit. Though there are three such bins, the top one is rather shallow and the bottom one, though deep, doesn't go far back. The exterior display panel, showing temperatures in each compartment and other functions, is a helpful improvement over the old unit. The refrigerator is also notably quieter than its predecessor except when the ice maker is filling with water or ejecting ice. The only real gripe is the ice maker for a number of reasons. It makes what is termed cubed ice, which is more of a flattened, 4 sided pyramid, only about 1 1/2" to a side, approximately. The cubes are a bit too small for my taste. The feeding tube to the in door dispenser is narrow and seems to be subject to clogs. Even in the in door storage, the ice is fuzzy with ice crystals, almost as though some were crushed. As dispensed, the ice also shows this pre-crushed look, even without selecting crushed ice. The capacity of the in door ice storage is also smaller than the old unit.

I lost 5 kitchen bags of food when I went out, but we never know how long the appliance will last. I wish it had some chip or something to tell you when it is near the end of its life. That way, we would not be throwing all that food into the garbage.

I appreciate the amount of light in both the freezer and refrigerator. Two design elements are poorly thought out. A counter depth refrigerator should NOT have curved, outward bowing doors as it limits the how wide you can open the doors. It is difficult to remove the drawers to clean them because the door will not open flush against the countertop. The ice maker basket design is a weak point and will be the first thing to break. Also, adjusting the temperature is not intuitive. Had I been able to see this unit in person before purchasing I would not have purchased it.

Missing shelves and covered butter container

We just replaced an older model (Kenmore made by Whirlpool) which had these features. Had we known they would be missing in this new model, we would have saved these items to use in the new refrigerator, instead of having to but them as accessories.

This fridge has a better icemaker setup than our previous fridge, but the positives end there. Our previous fridge had totally adjustable shelf spacing. The Whirlpool has fixed spacing that doesn't really work well for us, both in the main compartment and the door. We're forced to adapt and we're not happy about it. I also had to purchase an additional door bin and two extra shelves for the freezer because otherwise, there wasn't adequate storage. But my biggest complaint is the woefully small vegetable drawer. This fridge has the same footprint as the one we had, but the veggie drawer isn't even half the size of what we had. I don't know if this fridge is intended for people who eat out most of the time or just hate veggies, but the veggie drawer is barely adequate for two people.

This is my second side by side in a month. Why do they make so much noise. Sounds like a machine gun at least once a day. Freezer side has ice crystals on my freezer bags? I don't open the doors much, yet I have condensation on my shelves? I didn't want ice dispenser but it is very hard to find side by side without, so this is not even hooked up. Also hard to move, even a few inches. Storage space is also small on freezer side.

I bought this over a month ago. I had to have someone look at the ice maker as it would not make ice. The ice dispenser is loud when it dispenses ice. The appliance is loud when it is running. In an open floor plan, the excessive noise is very irritating and loud. The side-by-side set up does not give you enough room in either the freezer or refrigerator. I am going to replace it with a quieter unit with French door arrangement.

Unstable temperature inside refrigerator

Have it for two weeks and it's constant battle with the temperature inside the refrigerator. Initially was set to 38 and things get frozen, Changed to 39, same thing. Now it's at 41 and still things get frozen. I put a temperature and moisture detector inside and see swings of temperature from 28 to 38 during the day and moisture from 45 to 90 percent. Dissapointed with the purchase. I live in a remote area and return is not a viable option for me.

I'd give this refrigerator five stars except that the compressor is quite loud. When first installed it was so loud I thought I'd have to refuse it, but the sound lessened after the frig, freezer, and ice dispenser were fully chilled. Any noise is intrusive in an open-plan house, but I after two weeks I guess I'm getting used to it. Otherwise, a great frig -- spacious, brightly lit, and the counter depth make the whole room work better.

Noisy refrigerator. WP is not what it used to be

I bought this 5/5/26. It is nice looking but the darn thing humms almost all the time. Drives me crazy so I have to have music on all the time to drown out the loud humming. Service person told me this is how they are these days and there is no repair to be made. Called WP service/warranty and got passed around for 1 1/2 hours and at least 5 different departments. I finally hung up because if they are all like this why get another one? I recommend you try LG or Bosch as my friend's refrigerators are nice and quiet! Terribly disappointing and a big waste of time and money.

Terrible Fridge

We bought this fridge 2 years ago. We are now on our 5th repair. Of course the first repair came one month after the first year warranty expired. I would not recommend buying unless you like spending as much as the fridge costs in repairs.

Disappointed

We purchased this refrigerator on an emergency basis and have incurred numerous problems since. Items are freezing in the refrigerator side despite the temperature being set at 37 degrees. The ice and water dispensers are difficult to use and the unit is very noisy. It would be impossible to press a wine glass against the lever without breaking it in your hand. The mechanism itself takes up far too much space, lowering storage by as much as 2 cu. ft. versus the competition. .Surprisingly there is no butter compartment. This was an emergency purchase or we would have looked elsewhere.

The doors are not aligned. The refrigerator moves every time I open the door. Every time I open the freezer door it makes a sound as if it is hitting something. Whirlpool will not correct this problem without charging me a service fee. They claim it is an installation matter. The only installation was that the people dropped off the refrigerator and put it in the spot. I have owned thus refrigerator less than a month.

I bought th same model; in 2020, (included with new home built). It stopped cooling while on vacation. The house stunk and everything was a mess, nothing salvagable. I wasnt happy but bought one of these again. Im not sure if I happy. It is very noisy and irratating to the point that others have noticed it,

This is the loudest fridge I’ve ever owned, bought to replace a 15yr old side by side whirlpool and it’s twice as loud. Looks great and has plenty of storage for being true counter depth but it’s just so loud when the compressor kicks on im not sure I can take it

Where is my Ice?

This unit was given to us by the Builder of our new home upon move in & in the 2 weeks since we have had it we have produced 0 trays of ice, we had to call to schedule a repair, the repair tech came swapped out the ice maker, told us to wait another 24-48 hours before we would see Ice. We still have ZERO ice cubes being made or produced. The unit has water going into it & is working well on the dispenser side but It will not make ice whatsoever.

bought this refrigerator and it has been nothing but problems. My husband had to fix the noise coming from the configuration of wiring underneath in the back. Then we had to buy thermators for the fridge side since food was freezing with ice crystals on the top two shelves. We had to put thin styrofoam pieces against the freezer side in the fridge. So sorry we purchased this fridge. But now I have to live with it

Temperature control is not good. I have played with shelving locations and temp. settings for over 5 months since purchase. Upper shelves freeze items when temp setting is low enough to keep lowest bin below 40 degrees. This lowest bin, or meat cooler, should be the coldest area in the fridge since it is the lowest position. I have insured that there is no blockage of air flow anywhere. The overall layout and appearance are good, but that matters little if the unit doesn't cool evenly

Disappointed in purchase

I purchased this refer to replace an older which had a busted ice maker (and other problems). The broken ice maker put us over the edge. So we purchased this one. Within a month the ice maker on this one broke (a piece under the ice storage that distributes the ice out the door broke). When I called Whirlpool to get a replacement part they said it was not covered because it was an accessory...not part of the fridge despite the fact that it was built into the door. Instead I was give a sales pitch on how to buy an extended warranty!

Compressor Noisy

I would give a higher rating, however, the compressor is extremely noisy. I can hear it from other rooms in my house. I had a repairman come out to diagnose it, and was told that is the normal sound the new compressors make. .

Too loud

I received this product October 3, 2025. The noise level of the compressor is AWFUL!!! I know it has to run and that sound is okay but it has a whistling, metal like sound that grinds along in the background of the sound of the compressor running. The customer service from Whirlpool is non-existent; website is horrible to use. The ice cubes do not fit into the mouth of my water bottle. It does not have the rotating water spout which I miss to fill large pans or extra tall glasses, thermoses, etc. It does not tell you how much water is being dispensed. You can only set out measurements of water at 8, 16 or 24 ounces, nothing between. I would like another shelf for the freezer and I can't find one easily on the website, I'm buying the shelf because I guess I'm stuck with this refrigerator for a few years so I should at least have that if I can't get anyone to resolve the compressor noise.

Grinding, whining noise

Makes penetrating grinding, whining noise. I have to get it out of the house soon. Apparently, the noise is said to be normal. The decibel level is not particularly high, but the pitch of the sound is particularly penetrating and in an irritating range. It projects through over 1000 square feet. I am not a particularly sensitive person, but this really is remarkable. Previous refrigerators have made noise, but were nothing like this.

1. The fridge door is very hard to pull open sometimes. 2. The refrigerator is noisy compared to the previous Samsung refrigerator. 3. Eggs placed on the top shelf are frozen even the temperature is set to 40 F degrees.

VERY noisy - WP says "working as designed"

The fridge is 1 month old. It does maintain appropriate temps in fridge and freezer, makes ice and dispenses cold water. However, it runs almost constantly and the compressor makes a very loud whining noise. Also, solid and liquid foods on placed freezer side of the top two shelves actually freeze. A Whirlpool tech was sent to check it. He said newer fridges run a long time and make more noise than those made several years ago, but ours is worst he's heard, and that food should not be freezing in the fridge. He sent a report and audio recording to Whirlpool master tech who asserts it's working as designed. I consider that response unsatisfactory. I had to call to find the resolution. WP did not contact me as I was promised. That's also poor. I'm unhappy with both the fridge and with the company.

1. Bought this 2 weeks ago and ice maker still takes 30 hours to fill bin. Broken. 2. Extremely noisy refrigerator. Running almost constantly with much noise. Had this same refrigerator before and was quiet. 3. Ice cubes way too small. Past frig was normal size cubes. Design error in this one.for sure.

Future buyers, please STOP and READ this review. Pay careful attention to reviewers who are saying this unit is loud, because it is. I live in an older home and am to some degree used to noisy devices (we have a window unit A/C), but we got this fridge to replace an old but serviceable one (the door wasn't closing properly), and I kind of prefer the old one. Yes, it sleek and looks nice on the outside, but the sound would have been a non-negotiable for me had I heard the unit functioning on the floor. I called Whirlpool about it and of course was told this is the normal operating sound. If you want to know what that sound is, it's like a quiet (used loosely) lawn mower or a constant hum from an A/C. It turned off at some point yesterday only to begin humming again this morning. If you're wondering-- yes, this is a brand new fridge. Knowing I basically can't do anything about this has left me with a ton of buyer's remorse, but what can you do? Read reviews carefully before big purchases. I thought the good reviews somehow outweighed the bad ones and was sitting here gaslighting myself the whole time thinking, "Am I the crazy one? Is this sound being heard by all the buyers of this fridge?" If I'm to believe this sound is normal, then yes. Yet it clearly only bothers a few, but I'll be a part of the loud minority. Whirlpool told me their new fridges run the compressor more consistently for energy efficiency. OK, but the trade off is quiet? How is that OK? Make it make sense. Believe, me I will never buy Whirlpool products again because of this issue.

Such a disappointment. We’ve purchased Kenmore Elite in the past and when we needed to purchase a new refrigerator we were told to buy American made. This counter depth refrigerator has less room compared to our previous counter depth refrigerator. It is also the loudest refrigerator we have ever owned. When we called about the noise we were told that’s how it is.

Very disappointing. Shelves are really thin and fragile. The “counter depth” would have been okay, but with materials in back, it was far from flush from the wall, which makes it stick out unattractively. The instructions were vague at best. It runs very loudly. Having to speak to a sales person to get a warranty and hearing information on the basic warranty was extremely disconcerting.

An awful refrigerator. We had the same exact refrigerator previously. Lasted only 7 years, but at least it was quiet and did its job. This new version had the loudest and most annoying compressor that sounded like a house alarm going off. Whirlpool repairman (Diamond Service) noticed it immediately upon walking in our front door. He ordered a control panel, but when he came back to install the control panel a couple weeks later he said he was "told" to tell us that the sound was "normal operating noise." I am an owner of an HVAC company and know what normal is. This was over 50db and could be heard throughout the 3,500s.f. house. We were told there was nothing we could do, so we simply sent the unit back to the store and purchased another refrigerator which is quiet and hums along as expected. The only reason we purchased the Whirlpool was because it was one of the few that could fit our 69" high opening in counter depth. We had to purchase another (lower end) Whirlpool in standard depth/black, so I wasn't happy about the brand, but at least it works and I'm not fighting with some arbitrary manufacture opinion of what is "normal."

We have had it for a month and have yet to see a filled ice bucket. It just doesn't produce enough ice for us. We've had to go out and buy ice bags from the store! Had we not had my mom in the hospital for 2 weeks and now we've had to put her in a skilled nursing facility for hospice, we would've returned this fridge, as ice is very important to us. The rest of it is fine.
