It works :-)
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
My freezer and I have been together for about 9 months now. It does its job quietly and never complains about having to live in a closet. A large closet, mind you, but a closet nonetheless. I was worried that defrosting would be a pain, but so far, it has not. The freezer came with a cute little plastic device. I live in Houston, TX, so I took me a few moments to recognize this as an ice scraper. (We usually use credit cards to scrape off the thin coating of ice that forms on our cars about once every 5 years.) So now, when I open the freezer, I just grab the little scraper and take one swipe at the ice, snag some ice cream, and close her up again. In between visits, it's easy to forget all about my faithful little freezer because it operates very quietly. The freezer is dainty. For me, it's just the right size. I had bought a new fridge that had a smaller freezer than my old fridge, and this more than makes up the difference.

I bought this freezer as my larger on kept leaking unable to fix. Since it is just my wife and myself we did not need a large on and this one works out just right for us. we are very pleased with it.

Light to tell you the Compressor is running
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
So far so good. It is quiet when running. It has two indicator lights on it. One telling you it has power and the other telling you the compressor is running. We wish the basket in the freezer was a little bigger. Keeping the temperature between -1 and 3 degrees.

Great Freezer
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Bought this freezer a couple of months ago. Needed some extra storage and the 5 cubic foot is perfect. You would be suprised how much it holds. Very light and easy to put in place. Came with a basket for small items. If you are a single person, or a small family this is perfect for you!!

We recently purchased this Compact Freezer. Because of Covid-19 it took over 6 months to arrive. But we knew of the delay when we purchased it, so we understood the issue. This Freezer seem very well constructed. And the price was great.

So quiet I have to check to make sure it’s working
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
It fits perfectly in our small kitchen, run quietly, and it is easy for me to arrange things inside, not so big that things get lost.

Good deal for the price
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
The freezer is a nice size and works very well. My only negative comment is that because the metal bin was placed hanging on the top the seal was affected a bit so frost builds up on the area on a regular basis. This could be eliminated in the future by packaging the bin and placing it inside the large freezer area rather than hanging it from the top.

My Amana freezer arrived three weeks ago. It came nicely packaged and did not have any dents. The freeze controls work fine and I reset it to 4. So far, my family and I love this 5.3 freezer. It serves our needs, and fits perfectly in a small area of our garage.

Super Efficient Solar Application
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We we have lived off-grid for 25 years. Recently we made a decision to upgrade our entire refrigeration system. Our Amana 5.3 cubic foot freezer is so efficient that we hardly see any increased draw-down from our battery storage. After the purchase of 2 hanging aftermarket baskets, the interior space is very organized and easily adjusted. We now have the ability to purchase and store food bargains, make plenty of ice, freeze garden produce, wild fish and game.

I got this Compact Amana Freezer in some kind of urgent. My 13 years old freezer stopped working @7:00PM (may be earlier). I went to the shop and only 1 left. This Amana is smaller than my previous one but works great. It got cool right away and very quiet . So far I have no issue with ịt

Great little freezer!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We bought this freezer to go in our fifth-wheel camper to give us additional frozen food space. It works perfectly! The unit itself is lightweight and super quiet. I like the adjustable thermostat although we have not had to move it as it stays right around zero degrees. I also like the power indicator light and compressor on light. This is a very nice unit!

So far, so good.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
There's not much to say about a small chest freezer. It's small and everything in it is frozen, which is just what we wanted. I'm wary because this is our second small chest freezer; the first broke just past warranty (we'd had it a little over a year). Getting it repaired would have cost twice as much as the freezer. It's taken me a couple of years to replace it because I didn't want that experience again. So, I don't feel like a review of this freezer, that I've only had for two weeks, is meaningful. I don't know if it's energy efficient and I don't know if it works great. I'll have a more confident opinion in 3 years, and perhaps a glowing review in ten years. This is not a negative review, it's an I-have-no-idea realistic review. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend; I would tell a friend to really shop around and buy the extended warranty.

Great for downsizing
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We recently purchased the Amana 5.3 cu. ft. compact freezer to replace a 1990 model 15.2 cu. ft. freezer. We are downsizing now that our family is grown and on their own. So far, I have been totally happy with the Amana freezer! It cooled down very quickly and compressor doesn't need to run very often to keep items frozen. It is very convenient to access items (even at the bottom where I "lost" things in the old freezer!) and easy to keep clean. This is a great freezer for anyone who does not need a LOT of extra space but more than what is available in the freezer with the fridge. Go Amana!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I bought this about a month ago and have not had any issues so far. I've also purchased the extended warranty from the retail business I purchased the freezer from but don't believe I will need to utilize it. Small and light, doesn't take up a lot of space. I wanted a freezer to leave in my garage for a little extra space and only time will tell how this freezer performs through the season changes. To sum everything up, I'm a happy customer so far! Thanks Amana!

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
At first, I received this freezer and it was not working. All the lights worked, it made all the right noises, just was not freezing. Got it replaced with the same one - and now - its GREAT! Quiet, cools well, economical - just the right freezer for me and my family. I understand that anyone can have bugs - thats why I gave Amana another chance and I an glad I did. Perfect freezer for a great price. I'd recommend it overall.

Purchased this freezer three months ago an I love it. It is the perfect size for my family. Works as expected - it's cold inside!
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
We bought this freezer to keep food and breastmilk frozen and it works as expected. My only complaint is that if you let the door slam and vacuum shut, it's very difficult to open the door unless you wait for the vacuum to come unstuck by itself.

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
The physical size [dimensions] of this chest freezer is perfect for my available home space. Amana has a well-earned reputation for mfg reliable and long lived appliances. That is why I chose Amana over other competitive brands. I have had no problems with my freezer to date but I would like to have had a light within the freezer when the lid is opened.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We are so pleased with our purchase of this little chest-type freezer! Little isn't a good word to describe it though, as it has a lot of room in it for it's size! When we set it up, it didn't take long to get it down to (and hold) the correct temperature. I might add that it runs very quietly too. If you're looking for a small freezer - this is the one to buy!

Nice little brand name freezer
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I purchased as a replacement for an older upright that we used. Freezers this size all seem to have similar features from one another but this one had something most of the others didn't: a brand name that one could trust. Others freezers this size had brands that I associate with compact refrigerators or picnic coolers. Having a brand name that was associated with a real full size appliance company made made making the choice easier.

Wonderful freezer
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This freezer is the perfect size for my home. I have a side-by-side refrigerator and the freezer in the refrigerator is so narrow that it is difficult to store very much food. Since I live in Nebraska and I like to have more items on hand during the winter months, I decided to purchase a freezer. After doing some research on the internet I felt the Amana freezer was the perfect size for me. It has been working perfectly. One of the features I like it that there are two lights on the freezer. One light lets you know that the freezer is working--has power. The other light goes on when the compressor is running. The freezer keeps the food at the right temperature and the freezer is small enough that it will be easy to clean. I also like the fact that it came with a basket.

I have now owned this little freezer for a month. It is super efficient, keeps an even temperature at all times , takes up little space and just the size I need. GOOD DEAL
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
This product was delivered a few months ago. Delivery people were great. We noticed a crimp in 2 places on the rubber gasket around the lid. Other reviews had mentioned that they had the same problem and that it caused an ice build-up on the inside. Being aware of this, we still decided to accept the product, rather than send it back. And, as expected, we do get a very small ice build-up, but it doesn't seem to affect the freezers ability to freeze. Other than that problem, we love it.
Jack the Golfer · Nov 3, 2015
Much too basic
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
My research prior to buying ranked this highest among chest freezers this size. True as this may be, its missing needed features and has other drawbacks as well. I guess someone decided small should also be economical, but for us, small was necessary, and we would have gladly paid more for more features. For instance, ice accumulates by the lid, so why isn't there a heat element there to prevent this? The freezer needs a bigger basket and maybe some shelves. As it is, the basket is tiny and everything else can only be stacked one atop another starting at the bottom. Why not some shelves or baskets (at different heights) for better organization? And when you add things to freeze, where can you put them to keep separate from already frozen things, so as not to cause any thawing of the frozen things? Seems to me more thinking should have gone into the design, or maybe offer some options for those who are willing to pay extra.

Amana 5.3 Chest Freezer
