Is Exterior panel true "stainless steel"? Roller?

1. The unit moves every time we open the door due to the roller/wheel at the bottom of the unit. Suggestion: There should be a "locking switch" to lock the roller to prevent it from moving when the unit is stationed. 2. Is the door exterior panel real "stainless steel"? It's either faulty or not true stainless, because there is hand-scratch print all over the handle area after only been 3 weeks; I can not imagine what would it look like in the long run.

No extra features just a simple refrigerator and freezer exactly as we wanted no fancy extras that can cause issues no filters to change out every 4-6 months because of hard water in our area this is exactly the kind of product we were looking for and surprisingly difficult to find when you want a side by side so we are extremely happy with this fridge functionality and price

Good appliance... ugly bottom finish.. no words!

Interior space is ample without ice / water. Door storage great. Toe kickplate is just ugly... incomplete. It's like you forgot the outside edges. Good grief. I've never seen anything so ugly in an appliance. The outside edges are completely exposed showing this white plastic roller thing. What were you thinking?!! Would love to see you send me a kickplate that covers the entire bottom of the frig.

It’s been a weekend ago today that we had our New refrigerator and the quality is really good. It’s more space without the icemaker but I do have two issues.I thought the noise level would be lower and my door opens to wide and, I have to make sure that I shut it because it’s not a soft close at a degree but other than that it’s a great refrigerator. Oh I do miss my middle half size crisper there’s no drawer for that so I added a container to make it for crisper.

I have only owned this two weeks and I hope it is as good as the Whirlpool side by side that I had to replace because it got hit by lighting. It does not have ice & water in the door and that's what I wanted, they are hard to find with no ice & water in the door. My old one did not have ice & water either.

Our old 15-year fridge (with freezer on top) was dying and we needed a fridge without an ice maker. I knew that Whirlpool is a dependable brand. This fridge is sleek, modern, and we live the much bigger freezer space. I saw reviews that said it’s kind of loud but it’s not that bad; we just needed to get used to it. It works great; it was a great price; and we love it so hope we have it for 15 years.

Good Choice

I chose this refrigerator due to good ratings and the fact that it came in all white which matches my other kitchen appliances. So far it is working great. The things I have noticed that could be better are the top shelf of the freezer section is a little dark, it only comes with three shelves for the refrigerator section even though it is built to hold four, and it is a little louder than my last refrigerator when it is running.

Solid Second Refrigerator

GREAT second refrigerator! Our old one in the garage was just not consistent in keeping things as cold as we like and we decided to get one that doesn't have an ice maker, so that we can maximize storage space and we are very happy with this purchase! It's a solid refrigerator, does a good job of keeping both freezer and refrigerator cold (although it did take over 30 hours to really show how cold it could become - and this was during moderately cool weather (40's - 60'sF here in Southern California). Really enjoy not worrying about the food in there! Only improvement is that it is either MISSING a shelf OR they intentionally, removed a shelf on the refrigerator side as there are moldings in the side for a shelf, but no shelf is there! STRANGE!

I bought approx 1 month ago. When you pull out the bins, it's plastic on plastic and its not a smooth pull out. I wish this product had notches continuously on the refrigerator door and for the refrigerator shelves so I could space these out more evenly then the choices given. I bought this without the water and ice dispenser and this has given me additional space in the freezer ( since on our prior refrigerator, we would not use the ice in the quantity that was made- it works better to use the "old fashion" ice trays.)

Have not seen a refrigerator without use of water for 40 or 50 years. Am glad, no fuss. Ice cubes are enough for this single guy. Space good. Easy to see all and arrange to suit both refrigerator and freezer. Simple, clean looking and easy to clean. All good. But the temperature management is beyond me, and not available for the unit I have.

Bought this side by side refrigerator about 3 weeks ago. Wish I had bought it years ago. It is so roomy inside. Everything is visible and easy to reach. I am especially impressed with the freezer section. It holds much more than bottom freezer on my old frig. Everything in the freezer is easy to find and easy to get too. Both the refrigerator and freezer sides have big bins on the bottom shelf. They are easy to pull out and convenient to get into.

I bought this double door refrigerator recently. Previously, I had an old 30-year-old box refrigerator that had the freezer section on top. I am very impressed with the capabilities of this new refrigerator. Not only does it have a tremendous amount of usable space, but the different levels in the refrigerator section are amazing. Specifically, the vegetable crisper and fruit sections in the bottom keep food so much longer by controlling the humidity. This refrigerator/freezer is a game changer in my mind.

Purchased this refrigerator 5 months ago. It is nice with good space inside and freezer. The fingerprint free stainless holds a lot of prints. The motor is very loud when the compressor kicks on. One other thing that could turn into a problem is the freezer tends to cycle down enough to cause frost on the items. Hopefully this gets figured out. Whirlpool is a great brand and I would buy them again. I have a Whirlpool Dryer going into its 28th year!

It has been about a week since delivery. Went from a small fridge to this one which is a huge improvement in size and functionality. The only complaint we have is the noise from the motor or compressor. There is a noticeable vibration noise that can be heard, otherwise this was a good choice for our needs

Purchased in late September and it was delivered in early October. Added an extra shelf and this refrigerator is top of the line. Left it set at the recommended temperature setting. Keeps an even temperature at 38 degrees. Just how I like it. I did not get the automatic ice maker because I don't have a water connection available Ice trays are convenient for my needs. I will monitor my electric bill to see if it makes any difference. Great!!! so far. I usually only purchase Whirlpool appliances. Can't beat the reliability!

Great buy except for one thing

We really like this refrigerator with one caveat, thus the reason for 4 instead of five stars. We read the reviews before we bought it and it was mentioned that it is rather noisy. We have to agree. We bought it as a replacement for the basement so it is not a bother for us but I would not recommend it for your main refrigerator. for the price it is an exceptional fridge if you discount the noise.

Not fingerprint resistant

I am mostly pleased with my refrigerator. However, I am dissappointed that the finish shows all fingerprints and is difficult to clean marks. After my experience with my previous refrigerator, I specifically asked for a no fingerprint finish and was assured that this model and finish would comply with my request. It did not.

I'm happy with this choice

I've had my new fridge for almost 4 weeks and am happy with it. -- (My previous fridge was a French-door style, freezer on the bottom, and a malfunctioning ice-maker. Freezer items were all piled on top of each other, and water from the ice-maker dumped into said freezer and ...froze.) What I wanted was simplicity. A refrigerator and a freezer, no fancy gadgets, no ice-makers that fail, and that's exactly what this new fridge is. I have a lot more space now that there's no massive ice maker taking up a 5th on the side with the fridge. The shelves on the freezer side allows me to see everything in there. It took me a little reorganizing to get used to the layout, because it was very different from my former fridge. I found an ice cube container from a long ago fridge was helpful in holding small items in the freezer, and I found a small shelf to help me organize on the bottom shelf of the fridge just above the crisper drawers. Since I worked that out, I've been very satisfied. In some reviews people have spoken about the noise of this model. It does hum a little, but honestly, with normal noises of the day, I don't really notice it. It's nothing I would complain about. Some reviews have also mentioned that the wheels don't lock. That could be a problem if you have uneven floors. When I pulled on the fridge handle once, the fridge did pull forward about an inch. I just pushed it back. For me it's not a problem, in fact, I'm glad I'll be able to pull the fridge out to clean behind it. Overall I consider this fridge to be very good.

My husband and I bought this unit because of Whirlpool's quality reputation (this unit replaces our 16+ years-old Whirlpool), AND BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE WATER OR ICE MAKER IN IT (although a low-price converter kit can be purchased separately if desired). We were looking for simplicity, and prefer to make ice cubes the "old-fashioned" way.

I didn't want "bells and whistles" ! But just a large side by side refrigerator/freezer with lots of space! I have no problem with filling ice trays and keeping a reservoir filled with extra ice. I love it! I love the simplicity of it! No need to worry about an ice maker malfunctioning or having to buy expensive water filters or if the electronics go out! I love it!

We still miss our older version of this. I wish there was an opportunity to add features back in when purchasing. Specifically the snack tray seems to have been removed for cost efficiency. It is a little louder than the older versions. And due to energy efficiency it does run for much longer stretches. Occasionally there is a slight gurgle. But it seems to run wel, hold it’s temperature, and should last for another 19 years like its predecessor.

This refrigerator is an exact replacement for the last one we had that lasted 6 yrs. My wife and I agree, this one seems much louder than our old one. The back piece of metal (the older one had a fibre board) that covers the compressor and fan access bulges out where an insulated copper tube is by the fan. Other than that it keeps food cold and the freezer works great.

I Hate the shelf's on the door ! they used to be rounded . now they have sharp corners !!! i have bruises on my right hip & and my right elbow . from being assaulted by the shelf on the door ! The fridge is excellent and everything I expected. My only suggestion is to put the two handles slightly farther apart or change their shape. Clearly, it is optimal to have them on the edge of the door, but being so close together, they can only be used from the outside. That is, I can't easily open the refrigerator door with my left hand and I can't easily open the freezer door with my right.

Only one issue

I'm happy with this refrigerator so far, and hope to be for a long time. I have one issue that I hope you fix in all your refrigerators going forward. First, it looks like I'm missing a shelf. There is one more bracket than I have shelves. Two, and this is the bigger issue, this refrigerator has build in shelf brackets on the side. The shelves should be way more adjustable than they are! The shelves should hook into slots attached to the back of the refrigerator, and they should be at least every 1/2" apart. My configuration has two very large spaces, and I have stacked up jars and other containers to use the extra vertical space in one of them. I only need one that's tall enough to take large liquid containers.

Perfect for me but a little noisy

I have had this refrigerator for two weeks. I didn't want the ice maker so the size of this is perfect for me and my husband. I like the clean look of the white refrigerator. I do wish there was a lunch meat drawer. I gave it four stars because it is noisy when the compressor runs. I thought it would be quieter than my 30 year old Kenmore and it is, but not by much.

I bought this refrigerator that looks almost exactly like my old one except there is no small drawer for the refrigerator. There are side notches to place a small drawer or another shelf, so at first I thought it was missing. I would have liked either a shelf or drawer because the space is so tall now that it's precarious to stack things so high. Other than that, we are happy with it, and the sound is much quieter than our previous one.

I bought this a week ago and its ok. Not real happy with the wire racks in the freezer, glass is better. The space in refrigerator is not as big as I expected, but it's ok. The glass shelves in the refrigerator do not have much of a rim on the front and a few things slid off the shelf. I'm just being more careful to set things back farther.

I Love, Love my new Whirlpool Side by Side refeigerator. I ordered an ice maker for it, as well, it was optional. An ice maker was a must for me, however, I did not want the water dispenser in the door. My Whirlpool has all that I wanted in a refeigerator/freezer. There is plenty if room on the refrigerator side with two vegetable drawers. I did purchase a small see-through cheese container for it. The freezer has tons of room and I do love my ice maker. This refrigerator was a great buy for me. I’m extremely happy with it, and delivery was Perfect!!! The delivery team were personable, polite, and knowledgeable. Thwy did an excellent job.

I bought this July 2 to replace a 15 year old top freezer frig. I have a huge frig but need the extra space. Don't usually like side-by-side, but this is giving me that extra space needed to store beverages, produce, etc. I chose Whirlpool because it's a trusted name I grew up with. I like the easy rolling wheels for cleaning underneath, the style & the price. It did look naked until I put the magnets on. The extra freezer space allows me to spread out the frozen goods so as not to over work the freezer. I'm happy!

I like this refrigerator, but I'm disappointed that, even though it has brackets for 5 shelves. it only came with 4 and when I requested another one, I was told that the weight of that extra shelf and it's load would damage the "skin" of the interior. Nice . But, it is missing a shelf, they should give you all of the shelves period. Also I am having a little trouble keeping the freezer cold, I have adjusted the settings but ice always has a wet layer on it and ice cream too soft. I paid for installation but after they put it in they said the front feet are not adjustable for height to level the unit and I will have to put in shims to make it level. I am getting older and am trying to figure out how I will lift the unit to insert shims on the floor to level the fridge. Mean while it just keeps rolling forward in my kitchen

The interior is terrific but the installers have been unsuccessful so far at preventing the unit from rolling when the doors are opened. The most recent tech used a small cardboard shim... so we're viewing that as temporary. Also the exterior is not really stainless, requires very careful handling and microfiber cloth

Providing ice trays was greatly appreciated. My previous Whirlpool fridge was manufactured in 1994 and had an ice maker - this fridge worked great and was replaced because of it’s age last month.

I purchased 2 months ago, and it was finally delivered. It is quiet, and in general very beautiful. The paint however has a couple of blemishes on the front that I cannot buff out. That part is disappointing. It cools and freezes as designed. It moves easily, which is nice for cleaning behind it. Nothing fancy, but very functional. It could use one more drawer or shelf on the refrigerator side, but I bought something online that fits well. If not for the paint abnormalities, this would be a 5 star review from me.

We like our new refrigerator and it works as expected. We don't use the ice function so I can't attest to that, but the fridge and freezer work great! It's quiet. I knocked off a star because the fridge does not come with leveling feet, so when we open the door, the fridge moves and rolls around. It's pretty annoying actually and I'm wondering if Whirlpool can do anything to fix it. Other than that, the fridge is fine.

No More Bending

I love my side by side. No more bending over to go into the freezer digging around in bottom looking for specific foods. I can organize my food groups on the individual shelves. I just wish it came with one more shelf in the refrigerator. I was a little disappointed the front shows fingerprints more than anticipated. But regardless, I love it.

Also temperature seems to be too cold or too warm in the refrigerator can't get a medium. Also the shelves on the refrigerator door are too wide and make it too heavy so that it is not easy to open and close but will slam Open if not held

Beautiful in Black

I really wanted to rate this fridge 5 Stars but it falls short of that rating. We purchased black because we are so done with Stainless Steel upkeep. We did not want ice or water because those features also have problems over time. If I were to point out the one con it is that it is a lot louder than any fridge we have owned. It is audible from the living room. I pulled the back cover and the lower front cover off to see if I could isolate the humming sound. I was able to add a little more foam on the front and rear where the coils rest on the metal mount and that helped but it is still a lot louder than any fridge we have ever owned. The newer style high efficiency compressors and the new refrigerants being used mean the unit uses less power but runs longer but I have moved a temp gauge around in the freezer and fridge compartments and the areas do stay consistent or within a couple of degrees. I love the extra room in the freezer from not having an ice maker. Also the fit and finish of Whirlpool’s black finish is superior to other manufacturers. We know this because we had 2 other refrigerators before this one and they used thinner gauge metal on the doors and the doors have waves in the metal. This Whirlpool fridge is much better in quality of material used and there are no “waves” in the metal. The electrical schematic of this fridge is simple. It does not have all the bells and whistles and that means less things to break down. We did buy the 5 year warranty to help give us peace of mind. Overall. I am pleased

I bought my refrigerator over a year ago and I have been really enjoying it. It has ample space for everything and keeps everything very cold and fresh. The only con would be the freezer space is a little small but I’m on my own so for me it is not a big problem. It is a little loud but with the television on I cannot hear it. Overall I would recommend it. It looks great and I use soap and a soft cloth to clean fingerprints and stains off the doors and handles easily without scratching the steel color panels on the front. Overall a nice looking and functional fridge.

This refrigerator is good looking. It is supposed to not show finger prints but it definitely does. Bought a spray cleaner for this issue which works. The freezer side is wide enough for a regular sized pizza which some similar looking side freezers don’t.

Lots of room

I like this refrigerator. we didn't get an ice maker or water dispenser because we didn't use them with our last fridge and I'm happy to have the extra space in the freezer. The only thing I don't like is that the door to the refrigerator swings all the way open unless you hold it. That may be because of all the condiments etc. in the door trays but I wish there was a way to stop it from banging all the way open every time you open the door and look inside. As far as I can tell, there is no way to stop this other than holding the door the whole time you are looking for something inside the refrigerator.

My third Whirlpool refrigerator since 1989, this is a nice box and appears to be well built like previous ones but ..... compressor seems to be much louder than all those before. I'm not a neophite when it comes to major appliances. I sold Whirlpool (and other brands) on a retail level as well as wholesale when distributors were used. Offshore compressors would be my guess as to the only thing I have to complain about.

Pretty darn good, but I expected better for the price. The cold settings for the refrig and freezer are not very precise, and one side affects the other. To get the freezer to the temperature we want, we end up with the refrig side being too cold. I wish I had spent more to have better temp control and glass shelves. It is a good looking appliance and the doors open nicely.

Only had it a couple of weeks. Bought a 'floor sample' with some cosmetic damage - saw it all before I purchased. Was certainly a bargain at the discounted price. Also had no ice maker - again an additional reason for the big discount - and that fitted my needs perfectly. (Extra freezer space in a second fridge/freezer.) Works fine. No idea how reliable obviously, but other whirlpool appliances at home are 13 years old and still working fine.

Quiet, large capacity refrigerator !

Even though I only had this refrigerator a week ago , it my favorite! I saw by reviews of others that the Whirlpool refrigerator they had ran loud . Just to clarify ALL new refrigerators can run a bit louder for 3 days to a week . I googled that info and it was corrected! After 48hrs of the new compressor ruining it hums quietly while running to cool refrigerator and super quiet ( no noise at all ) in between. I bought the 36 inch wide and about 69 inch tall with NO ice maker ! Boy , does that freezer have TONS of room , shelves easily glide and runs super cold ! The refrigerator door has wonderful shelves that can be easily moved and the door shuts so quietly! Bright light on both sides of refrigerator and can’t love it enough. The sides of the refrigerator are textured and front is smooth ! My favorite refrigerator of all! Whirlpool are the BEST ! The only thing that’s missing is a deli small drawer which from other peoples reviews they just don’t put them in refrigerator any more ! But you can get one on Amazon - it the OXO brand and fits perfect! You won’t be disappointed in this refrigerator!

This refrigerator is a good buy. There are very limited choices for those of us that don't want ice makers and water/ice in the door. The 2 reasons I didn't give 5 stars are: Poor location of light in the freezer. It's low on the side and is blocked by items on the racks. Should be higher like the one in the refrigerator. Also the top hinges could be better hidden. They show too much.

Thus far the refrigerator has worked well, as expected. The only problem is that when installed, there was no balance lifts in the front. The installer has to create some wedges so it would not move when you opened the door and to keep it balanced. But even now, when you open the door, it won't stop opening. It opens all the way unless you catch it.

I love the my Sid-by-side Refrigerator. Haven't had it long enough to really see if it's working for all my needs. My only complaint is I find the refrigerator needs to be on the 4 snowflake mode to be as cold as I would like it for our drinks. The 3 snowflake (ideal mode) was not keeping my drinks cold enough. I will have to see if it's too cold for food. If so I'll have to comprise and lower to the "ideal mode"

No Water Nor Ice Dispenser, Black, SideBySide

We believe that ice and water functions take up precious food storage room and contribute to shortened refrigerator lifespan. We bought the large Whirlpool and have been very satisfied with it. We would by the same unit again.

Refrigerator runs very quiet and keeps everything cold. When first installed cold air leaked from freezer, gasket not tight. Doors do not line up evenly. Top hinge on refrigerator door only has 2 screws. 3rd screw is broken off with stud stuck in refrigerator. Screw was evidently over tightened.

Refrigerator is spacious, attractive, and keeps food appropriately cold. There has been no spoilage with my milk since keeping it on the lowest shelf of the fridge! Sale price was mid-range. The freezer offers more room too, since there is no attached icemaker. There is a loud intermittent hum to the refrigerator that did take me a few weeks to get used to but no longer bothers me. There was no cheese drawer, however, I purchased one online. The stainless steel exterior can get easily scratched and be difficult to remove fingerprints, but adding photos or artwork to the area can hide this defect. I recommend purchasing any warranties offered for added peace of mind. I really like this style of fridge!

I just received the refrigerator. Good size. Gave a 4 star rating because of a few features that may need some improvement. More variety of moving the shelves - some have too great of a space and some very small space; the lighting location takes up space - bulky and hard to fit items onto the space; same with the freezer section. Thus, provide more options to locate shelves; adjust placement of lights and freezer components to have more useable space. Also, it came with stains on the door and hard to remove the stains on the stainless-steel coating. The installers had grease on their hands and the door and sides of the refrigerator were stained.

I had a very similar refrigerator that I had to replace. When loading it up, I realized that the refrigerator has one less drawer and the freeze that used to have two or three draws has one pull out bin. I am kind of disappointed and should have paid more attention.

So much usable space

Would have been a 5 if the refrigerator door didnt swing open and fall back shaking contents on the door. Cant be good for the door. I see no way to stop it but have found multiple people online with same complaint. Lots of usuable room! Easy to see. Temp control nice. There is no deli drawer for those who would miss that. The wires on freezer shelves are far apart enough that some "flat" things may poke through. They could have done a better job with grill appearance on the bottom. You cant see actual grill but 2 large cheap plastic cupped feet on both sides that are ugly and going to catch dust etc. But overall we are happy with the refrigerator so far

I have always enjoyed a side-by-side fridge .. so for that reason I like it very much. However there are some things I will mention .. as I read in other reviews, it does seem to be a little loud when it runs through a cooling stage .. it did not come with an ice maker so we had to buy separately and have them install it .. also as with most refrigerators, although there are brackets for one more shelf in the fridge and one shelf in the freezer, they do not come with those extra shelves .. why?? Personally I want all the shelf spaces I can get, so I ordered the 2 extra shelves .. but even if someone does not want them .. I think it would be very good business to include them and let the buyer decide if they want to use them or not. But then you don't get the extra $$$$ for the 2 extra shelves .. just sayin .. when all is said and done, I do like the refrigerator and I am happy with my purchase overall

Acceptable but not Outstanding

We wanted a side-by-side without an ice maker, but it’s hard to find those. This one is a bit “no frills”. If you are looking for more bins than the fruit and vegetable bins, you need to buy more, which I did, from an online website, since Whirlpool doesn’t offer such. I’m not a big fan of the lighting. It is a nice bright light, but it shines into your eyes. Overall, the design of the fridge feels cheap to me, the door bins seem flimsy. The stainless steel finish shows fingerprints (we wanted white but it would have cost a lot more). Does it keep our food cold? Yes, and it runs fairly quietly and the doors open smoothly and quietly. I much prefer these big doors to the French door style we had before, with the big freezer bin below the fridge I had to crawl around to access. I feel like there has to be a happy medium between the usual side-by-side refrigerators with icemakers and water in the door(which we did NOT want), and the low end style side-by-side we ended up buying. It seems like you have to spend triple the cost to get the features you want. But they all seem to stick you with the obligatory ice and water dispensers.

LOVE THE FRIG BUT CHEAP SHELVES

My second whirlpool frig...last one lasted 10 years and worked great until it wouldn`t freeze ice cream properly. So ordered another one just like it....a side by side 25.1 without ice maker or water dispenser. New frig is great, took a long time to cool properly, but now it seems good...freezer 0 degrees and frig 37..and it is very quiet... The only complaint is cheaper door shelves (clear plastic), and one frig storage drawer got eliminated. Fortunately, I saved all the inside frig drawers and shelves from the old frig, and amazingly they all snapped in properly, and looks better than the new stuff. Last but not least, the manual supplied is poor....more interested in foreign language inclusion than substance....oh ya, they eliminated the adjustable height on the front rollers...not a biggie, but why....?

Ample space but cheap build quality

I had a top-freezer Whirlpool refrigerator that lasted 17 years and never had a single problem. Based on this past experience I purchased a Whirlpool again because I wanted a side-by-side without water dispenser and ice maker. The Good... 1) Has ample space. 2) Has sufficient door shelves and inside shelves. 3) Does not have an ice maker and water dispenser. The Bad... 1) It is LOUD when it runs and it runs pretty often. My earlier Whirlpool was much quieter than this one. This is consistent with what others have reported. 2) The crisper drawers are cheaply made. They don't sit flush with the edge of the shelf and there is a gap between the shelf and the drawer lip. This seems like poor quality control checks. 3) The crisper drawers don't slide in and out smoothly like my previous Whirlpool. They stick so have to be careful to not break them. 4) The stainless-steel finish is a fingerprint magnet. It's very difficult to keep it clean. 5) No deli drawer like my previous Whirlpool. It's less than a month since I bought it. Hoping it will run for years without giving any issues.

Missing key features

Owned 1 month so far. Nice cold fridge. Keeps food fresh longer than my old fridge, but it's missing some key features. Namely: * The glass shelves don't go all the way to the back, so things fall down the back occasionally. * It's on rollers and not feet/legs, so it rolls out whenever I open the door. We have an unsightly doorstop holding it in place. * Doesn't come with a door alarm! Seriously? I had to order after-market door alarms that are a nuisance, and don't tell you when the door is open; they tell you when the temperature rises outside a set range. So the fridge may be open for a good 20 minutes before the alarm is triggered. (Unless I set a tighter range--but then I was getting a lot of false positives). I thought I was buying a higher-end fridge at this price point, but apparently not. I'm disappointed in this purchase.

I bought this 8/12/2024. I had the same refrigerator before this one. It does not have as much space. It have 4 spaces for shelves. I only received 3 shelves. It pickup lot of finger prints, but I am able to remove most of them. I like the bottom. It look like there is a tray for possible leakage from condensation.

The only choice for us

Very thankful that this comes with no ice/water features. We love side by side but hate dispensers and ice makers. Negatives are it is noisier than I think it should be and there are several downgrades from our 18 year old side by side Amana. It is, however, the only side by side w/o dispensers or icemaker that would fit in our space, so very happy it exists.

Large freezer, but hard to regulate temperature

We bought this refrigerator a month ago to replace a similar model bought 13 year ago (compressor died). While we still like having a side by side refrigerator with large freezer space (no water or ice), we are not as happy with it as with our last one. The shelves feel flimsier, there is no cheese drawer,, and we can't get the temperature regulation right. On setting 3, the fridge gets too cold, occ. freezing things, on setting 2 the freezer does not stay consistently below 0 degrees. This fridge would do better if it had a slider or dial for temperature control, as it did in the past. We need a 2.5 setting!

Waiting To See

This is a replacement refrigerator that we bought in January 2025. It lasted eight months and has taken me much longer than I would have expected to get replaced when the repairs did not work. It is the same model, being used as a second refrigerator located in our mud room. Have not had a problem with an appliance in this room in the past.

Refrigerator HUMS Loudly when running

I do like this refrigerator, BUT there is a loud hum when it is running. I thought it would go away after the refrigerator had been operating for a few days, but it’s still loud and it seems to run a lot. I also do not like the stainless steel. It is not easy to clean and it streaks.

Freezer temperature fluctuates

Fridge is nicely laid out, shelves are easily adjustable, door bins are large enough to hold oversized items. Overall, nice refrigerator. The only point of concern for me is that the temperature in the freezer fluctuates all the time. Sometimes it's 0, sometimes it's 15, I've seen it go as high as 25. I know the newer refrigerators defrost themselves automatically, but on a daily basis? Freezer is relatively full but not jam packed, plenty of room for air flow. The doors are only opened once or twice a day, and they are not left standing open for the cold to be lost. Not sure if this is normal, so I monitor the freezer temp with a remote sensor. We'll see.

Refrigerator was delivered 2 weeks ago. It had been running in our garage since. The default temperature settings were tit too low for both sections of the refrigerator. I had to adjust them a little. It is running well after. I am wondering if the product had a good calibration out of factory.

The refigerator was deivered on August 26th. It took 24 hours for the refrigerator side to cool which was much longer than I expected. The freezer side came up much sooner. The doors were not lined up correctly so some one came out to fix that. Now the refridgerator door does not close property and swings open with no restraint. The bottom frame of the refrigerator is not lined up and has slipped out of the frame. I have called my sales rep and hw in the prcess once again of having to send someone out to fix it. I like the refrigerator but and feel like what will go wrong next.

Streaky Finish

Overall it's a nice, roomy refrigerator. But again, it's the little things that brought down the rating. My old frig had 3 drawers and this one only has 2, so it's just trying to figure out where to put things. Plus the top covered space on top of the door does not fit my egg tray like my old one, which is a real bummer. But most of all, it's the monocromatic finish that always looks streaky not matter what I clean it with. I really wish it had the fingerprint resistant finish like the rest of the pieces we bought, but that wasn't offered in this model. I do really like the large freezer space, which has more than my old one, and it actually keeps our ice cream frozen, which our old one did not for some reason.

Need improvement for lighting up the freezer part

I bought on October of 2024. The refrigerator works as it should. There is an inconvenient part. The LED light will not turn on when I just open the freezer door. If I need the LED light on at the freezer part, I need open the refrigerator part of door. Both LED lights on the freezer and the refrigerator part are controlled by one switch which is located on the refrigerator part. It is inconvenient for consumer by just saving one switch on the freezer part.

We are satisfied with the cooling and freezing, however it is noisy when running. We waited 3 weeks for a tech to come out and he said that this particular model runs noisy and that he has been on several calls for this problem on this model and there was nothing that he could do. Of course, when he was here, it was defrosting with no noise. He said he could only wait 10 minutes to see it came back on with the noise, but of course it didn't. Also, we can't seem to keep the doors clean with the recommended micro cloth. Other than that, it is a good refrigerator.

I bought this on July 22nd 2024, the temperature supposed set on 37°F as manufacture recommended, but it often run down to 34°, much too low . I reset the temperature, it doesn't see to work.

We were extremely surprised that this model did not come with floor stops that would prevent the refrigerator from moving every time the doors are opened even though the owner's manual refers to them including a picture. Instead, the service department sent us plastic shims that were difficult to install under the front wheels. Also, this model did not include decorative hinge covers at the top of the refrigerator doors. Otherwise the refrigerator seems to be running just fine.

I didn't want a side by side and definitely didn't want stainless steal but I didn't have a choice that's all that was available for my husband and myself to bring home the same day. I couldn't wait 6 weeks for a normal white refrigerator on the bottom with a freezer on top. Menards in Virginia put deep scratches in the door and handle of the refrigerator and then sent us the wrong door replacement so we are still still on getting that corrected.

There’s Just One Flaw

Satisfied with everything except for the surface of the doors. I recall it saying fingerless print but no such thing! I have to constantly wipe the surface with a stainless steel product. It’s a pain to maintain. Why they didn’t use the same surface material as the sides is a mystery. I wouldn’t recommend unless you have time to waste to constantly maintain the doors.

poor quality control

LOVE size and setup with no ice maker but has some poor design and quality issues. 1. LOUD Fridge was around 46 decibels when new. Had evaporator fan (one in freezer) replaced under warranty. No change in loudness. Not sure exactly why (maybe another part ordered was not available), but the whole fridge was replaced under warranty a few months later. No change in loudness. I couldn't take the sound level, so I took the whirlpool 17 year old evaporator fan out of my old refrigerator and installed it in my new refrigerator. I also modified the fan mount a little to make things less rigid. Sound is now at an acceptable 38 decibels which is a huge difference. Evaporator fan and mount need improvements!!!!!! 2. KINKED REFRIGERANT LINE While I was messing with the evaporator fan, I noticed the refrigerant line coming into the freezer is kinked. This is straight up bad practices at the factory. See image for kink. 2. UNEVEN DOORS The door heights are uneven from the factory. The left door is not adjustable and is higher than it should be to start. The right door is adjustable but is adjusted to max height. Since right door is lower than left but at max adjustment height, doors are uneven. Refrigerator is on level floor. Look at any other review pics and the left door is 99% higher.

Extremely disappointing

We’ve had this for two weeks and can’t regulate the temperature. There is only one control for both the refrigerator and the freezer. The freezer doesn’t get cold enough to freeze ice cream or bread but when we turned it down it froze the lettuce in the refrigerator. We had a service technician come out and he said there was nothing he could do.

Fridge rolls forward when opening the door

Ought this fridge and it works well. Poor design in that there are no leveling pads which will prevent the fridge from moving forward when opening the door. I leveled it with the leveling screw which raises the wheels/caster, but again, no lock on the casters and no leveling pads to keep it in place. I have to use rubber door stoppers. Ground and fridge are both level. Had an authorized Whirlpool mechanic look at it and he agreed on it being a pot design.

I bought this refrigerator back in Aprip 2024. The rubber around the freezer door didn't seal properly, the inside of the refrigerator was very dirty when it arrived. I bought stainless steel and the French doors are scratched up upon arrival. I live by myself and didn't realize how scratched up they were until I cleaned them with stainless cleaner.

What Happened to Whirlpool?

First impression upon delivery, "Whirlpool" has gone cheap. It is obvious Whirlpool has joined the capitalism route and cut corners from all angles. After our Sears Kenmore (formally made by Whirlpool) fridge finally gave out after 26 years, we thought we couldn't go wrong with another Whirlpool product. Now we regret it. Our new unit is VERY LOUD and is running "on" more than "off", which is a sign of an inefficient compressor (all temperature levels mid-range) and, as you can imagine, a constant annoyance. It's also a shame Whirlpool cut corners on cosmetics and finishes, including the drawers, shelves, door hinges, and lower wheel concealment; however, we can live with that. It's the noise level that would have steered us away from this product had we known beforehand.

Refrigerator temperature inconsistent

The freezer seems to cool OK, but the refrigerator takes a very long time to cool down. It may be 45 degrees at night, but only cool to 40-41 by morning. Changed freezer to "max cool" and it seems to help. Inconsistent. May be a temperature control sensor or board that is bad, but service is at least 2 weeks out. Wish I bought another brand.

Very, Very disappointed in this appliance!!!! **The temperature in the fridge section is very inconsistent!! (set on the "ideal" temperature setting) & food either freezes or climbs up to 48 degrees!! (we have our own fridge temp. gage inside). ** the freezer section looks like an "OLD SCHOOL" freezer as a quarter of items inside are covered in ICE!!! We own rentals & have always purchaced Whirlpool appliances~ this is the first for our primary residence & it will be the LAST!!

Loud and annoying

This refrigerator runs so loud, it sounds like a tractor driving through my kitchen. It annoys everyone. Service came out once and did nothing. My 20 year old refrigerator was so quiet. It was a Whirlpool, so I decided to buy another one. Bad decision. I won't be buying Whirlpool in the future after this experience. I can't believe a new appliance can be so loud and so annoying. Not happy with this purchase.

Poor temp control - running motor - vacuum sealing

Bought brand new unit a couple months ago. Had temperate control issues from day one. Repair service replaced control board and thermistor. Temperature control has improved but fridge runs very often and is louder than expected. Often, after opening and closing a door, it sounds like the unit is drawing a vacuum causing creaking sounds. Doors are a bit more difficult to open at times due to seal - feels like fighting too much vacuum. Not great for the disabled, elderly or small children. Not sure i would buy whirlpool again.

So tired of the new appliances looking good but working way worse than older models. I expect my 1 year old washing machine to tear itself apart within the next 6 months. After one week, ice is hanging from the top shelf like an icicle. Repair people are to come out and look at the seal on the freezer of this side by side. It certainly isn't the 35 plus year old Maytag that was my Mom's. We finally had to let it go as it finally cratered. They started talking warranty as soon as they were delivering it.

Replaced a 20+ year old Whirlpool which was quality excellent We have had this for three weeks-currently in que for a service call (we had elected to return it as unsatisfactory but wanted to let tech confirm our observations first) Very noisy- unacceptable, crisper drawer came warped,doors do not close properly, noisy gasket Unit will not keep refrigerator items cold enough even on highest settings (temps confirmed with multiple thermometers-coldest setting struggles at 40 degrees, suspect defective compressor, Purchased without ice maker and cold water dispenser for greatest room- configuration/interior space of this unit is excellent and no one else offers this configuration (generally others want all the "bling"..we want the space) Went to retailer .compared most major brands.. most are noisy too.. but not like this unit.. explanations.-high efficiency compressors. We want this unit replaced-retailer is excellent a cooperative. Whirpool-you can do better.

Ice Maker Design Problems

The ice maker tray is too short. When the ice tray gets full, ice spills over the edge of the tray and falls down through the shelves. When I open the freezer door, ice sometimes falls on the floor. The tray is too small, and there is nothing to hold it in place under the ice maker. It just slides around on the shelf. I also have a 24-year-old Maytag refrigerator in my basement that does not have this design problem

PREMATURE FAILURE

REFRIGERATOR FAILED AFTER 2 MONTHS AND FIVE DAYS. THE FACTORY Service Tech has been to the house two times. He thinks the replacement part he ordered is also defective as it didn't fix the problem. Frankly, he is only guessing that the part will fix it. He did contact the factory for their input. He is scheduled to come again this Friday if a new part is available. We have been without a refrigerator since February 5.

Stainless Steel with short shelves

Only had this gorgeous side by side Stainless Steel fridge since Nov but it doesn't function properly. 1. Nice glass shelves are too short, they do not touch the rear wall, has a good size gap where items fall from the rear of the shelves down the back and behind the bottom drawers. Making it difficult to retrieve unless you remove both drawers then the shelf they hang from, to get behind the drawers. Per mfg made short to allow proper air flow with glass shelves. 2. Again, gorgeous shiny Stainless Steel doors are sooo difficult to stay fingerprint free!! As soon as you touch the stainless you leave marks, spots. Can you imagine the multi spots after putting on hand lotion that has yet to be absorbed into your skin? It is a beauty!! Just don't push your foods to the back of any of your shelves and just don't touch the stainless steel ever!!

I am on my third one now. First one never cooled down. Second one ran ok for 6 months then it started running erratic. freezing things in the refrigerator. Freezer fluctuating from 0 degrees to 45 degrees. I had identical model before this and got 14 years out of it before it shut down.

This is the noisiest appliance I’ve ever had. Bought it because the reviews say it is quiet. Manufacture sent out repair person, he attempted to quiet the horrible noise as best he could. He suggested that they are just getting louder. I’m stuck with this awful grinding until I can replace at my expense. A shame because it otherwise looks good and works to cool.

No matching toe kick. Shortcut on shelves

I bought this a little less than a month ago. I don't know which is worse! 1, It turns out that the 4th notch for a shelf, is only for adjusting the three shelves. I appears like a missing shelf. I learned that what I thought was a broken toe kick is a shortcut to run a wire for water in the door. I do not have plumbing for water, but have to look at what I call a broken toe kick because Whirlpool has no matching option for choosing no water in the door. I am very disappointed in the shortcuts the company has taken. It is probably my last Whirlpool appliance

I choose this simple design becaus it was all I could afford at the time. I don’t like how the stainless steel scratches so easy. Just with my fingernails opening the door. It makes a lot of weird noises it’s a little smaller than the one I had to replace. I do like how bright the light is inside. And that it works.

Terrible Fridge

I don't think this terrible fridge has shut off over 5 or 10 times since it was delivered. I have lost 2 half gallons of milk as well. The temperature is set at coldest and it is 39 to 40 degrees. The most awful fridge we have ever had.

Crappy refrigerator

Bought this July 31, and it's loud and the fridge door swings wide open to where you have to catch it before it swings back into my cabinet. The service guy who came out says that's the way it is. He kept bending door back and now it creeks when you close it. He never checked out the loudness. Now I have to have a specialist to come out.. NOT HAPPY!

Very poor quality control

Refrigerator was delivered on July 3. It does not maintain temperature. At the recommended setting, it is 50 degrees. It is supposed to be 36-40 degrees. At the coldest setting, after being closed overnight it approaches 40 degrees. The Whirlpool repairman ordered a control panel, but it is back-ordered until August 24. in the meantime, I need to keep the refrigerator on the coldest setting to even approach the correct temperature, and food does spoil
