Whirlpool 28 Inch Top Freezer Refrigerator WRT134TFDW

Most reviewers report that this model keeps food at steady, reliable temperatures in both the fridge and freezer sections. Several owners specifically praised its ability to maintain consistent cooling, with one noting it was ideal for storing temperature-sensitive items like medication. However, a few reviewers experienced difficulty achieving proper freezer temperatures below zero, and one reported the fridge averaging around 42–43 degrees when they expected colder performance.

Opinions on noise vary. Several owners report the unit runs quietly and is much quieter than their previous refrigerators. However, multiple reviewers noted a high-pitched sound when the motor cycles on, and one owner described it as loud—sounding like a drill going into metal and running nearly constantly, which they found annoying even in other rooms.

This model offers 14 cubic feet of capacity with a top-freezer design. Reviewers consistently praise the spacious layout and flexible storage, noting it provides plenty of room for a compact size. The fridge includes adjustable shelves and see-through produce bins. Some owners noted the door shelves have limited space for standard-sized condiment bottles on the upper shelves, and a few wished for a dedicated cheese or deli drawer.

Yes—this model is designed for compact spaces and fits well in tight areas. Multiple owners specifically purchased it because it met strict dimension requirements, and several noted it was perfect for apartments, motorhomes, basements, and cabins. The dimensions are 28 inches wide, 62.9 inches tall, and 32.1 inches deep.

Most reviewers are satisfied with the overall build quality and appearance. However, several owners noted concerns about durability: the produce bin drawers are described as flimsy, feeling cheap, and difficult to slide without jamming or getting crooked. One reviewer mentioned the plastic bins feel thinner than previous Whirlpool models, and another noted the wire shelves are less durable than the tempered glass shelves on their previous unit.

The doors are reversible to accommodate different kitchen layouts. However, one reviewer reported that changing the door orientation was difficult and resulted in broken white covers during the process, suggesting the reversibility feature requires careful handling.

Reviewers consistently describe this model as a good value for the price, calling it affordable and fairly priced. Several owners specifically chose it because they needed a quick, budget-friendly replacement for an older unit. It is Energy Star rated, which some buyers appreciated for efficiency considerations.

Most reviewers report positive experiences with reliability, with some noting their units have performed well for weeks to months. However, a few owners experienced significant failures: one unit had freezer and cooling problems within the first few months and faced a lengthy replacement delay, another failed after less than three years, and one owner reported the manufacturer would not honor warranty service. These isolated cases suggest potential durability issues for some units, though the majority of reviewers have had good experiences.
