Gathering the reviews
We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.
Calculating the average
Averaged across every source we found (Amazon, AJ Madison, and other retailers). Each source counts in proportion to how many ratings it has, so a store with thousands of reviews moves the number more than one with only a handful.

What owners talk about most
“So far so good. The unit itself can be a little loud but no issues. I replaced a Frigidaire built in. It was 13 years old and had led lights. The whirlpool is dark compared to my old refrigerator. I use the refrigerator and freezer as secondary for parties and such”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet.
This model has 18 cubic feet of capacity. Multiple reviewers praise it as very roomy with plenty of space for storage, especially useful during holidays or when entertaining guests.
Most owners report quiet operation, though a few note it can produce a noticeable hum. One reviewer specifically praised it as 'totally quiet,' while another mentioned a 'loud low hum' as a minor drawback.
Owners who report positive experiences note it keeps food and drinks cold reliably and maintains constant temperature. However, some reviewers have experienced significant temperature control problems, with units running too warm or failing to cool properly, particularly on hot humid days.
This is a significant concern across reviews. Many owners report compressor failures, sealed system leaks, and cooling problems occurring within 2–5 years, often requiring multiple replacements. Some units fail within the first year. A few owners report their units lasting longer (13–18+ years), but the pattern of early failures is substantial and recurring across dozens of reviews.
Reviewers are mixed on this. Some praise the flexible, adjustable shelving and good lighting. However, several owners complain that the drawers are very small, cheaply made, and don't hold much, and that the interior layout is poorly designed overall.
No. Multiple reviewers note that this unit does not allow you to set a specific temperature—it uses preset settings rather than a dial or digital display. Some owners prefer a dial setting for manual adjustment and found this limitation frustrating.
The standard warranty covers one year on most components. However, the sealed system (compressor, condensers, refrigerant) is covered for five years. Multiple reviewers report that when sealed-system failures occur after one year, they are not covered, and repair costs are substantial.
This is a common concern. Many owners built custom cabinetry around this specific model and are now locked into replacing it with the same unit if it fails, even if they are unhappy with reliability. Some reviewers mention they would remodel their kitchen to fit a different brand if they could afford it, but the custom fit makes switching difficult and expensive.

What the internet says
Bought it a month ago for the garage and it’s looking and working great. I use the med cold setting and it keeps all the drinks cold in this Florida heat.
I bought this to replace a 6-7 year old identical unit. It had to fit in the space that I had - see the photo. The frig is on the right and the freezer on the left.
I replaced my old Whirlpool unit with this one. Unfortunately, the handle doesn't match the companion freezer as it did in the past. Not sure if I will order a new freezer so they match again. My only complaint with the icebox is that those drawers are ridiculously small. I…
Very happy with it so far. Runs quietly and stays at constant temperature.
This is my second wide side kick. The shelving is a little different from my first one, but I am figuring out how to best utilize the space which is plenty. The lighting is very good in this refrigerator.
