Refrigerator Brand Index
Every refrigeration brand with a real line-up in the Fridge.com catalog, in one table. The index ranks 76 brands by tracked models and reports what each line-up actually costs — the median advertised price and the 10th-to-90th-percentile range — plus median capacity, type breadth, and, where the certified data supports it, median annual energy use. It is the brand-level companion to the Appliance Price Index and the Energy-Efficiency Index.

How to read the index
- Models
- Active refrigeration models the brand carries in the Fridge.com catalog — refrigerators, freezers, and specialty cooling. Parts and water-filtration items never count.
- Median price & P10–P90
- The median advertised price across the brand’s priced models, and the 10th-to-90th-percentile range around it. The range already excludes the cheapest and priciest tenth.
- Median ft³ & types
- The median cubic-foot capacity across models that publish one, and how many distinct appliance types the brand spans. A dash means the line-up does not publish enough capacity data.
- Certified kWh/yr
- The brand’s median certified annual energy use across its ENERGY STAR certified models, shown only at 10 or more certified models. A dash means the figure is not derivable — never that it is zero.

Every listed brand: tracked models, the median advertised price with its 10th-to-90th-percentile range, the median capacity where models publish one, the number of appliance types the brand spans, and the certified energy figures where the brand has at least 10 ENERGY STAR certified models. Two things the table shows
A brand is rarely one price point. ZLINE spans $2,719 to $12,417 between its 10th and 90th percentile — the widest spread in the table — around a median of $6,604. Comparing brands on a single average hides ranges like that, which is why every row carries its P10–P90 span.
Certified energy data is uneven. Only 37 of the 76 listed brands have at least 10 ENERGY STAR certified models matched by name — Frigidaire has the deepest certified bench at 289 models. The other brands show no energy figure at all rather than a thin or borrowed one.
Below the listing threshold
242 brands disclosed, not listedA further 242 brands carry fewer than 15 tracked models each — 823 models between them. They are counted in the catalog totals above but not listed, so no thin sample is ever presented as a brand benchmark.
How the index is built
The universe is the live Fridge.com catalog of active refrigeration appliances — refrigerators, freezers, and specialty cooling — with parts and water-filtration items excluded (4,453 models in this release). Each brand’s figures are aggregated from its own models: the median and 10th/90th-percentile advertised prices over a $50–$200,000 validity gate, the median published capacity, and the spread of appliance types.
Certified energy figures join from the ENERGY STAR certified refrigeration list published by the U.S. EPA and DOE, matched to each brand by name; a brand’s median certified annual energy use is published only at 10 or more certified models. A brand is listed once it carries at least 15 tracked models. The underlying certifications are public U.S. government data; the aggregation is the Fridge.com synthesis, published under a CC BY 4.0 license.
Known limitations
- ·Prices are the lowest advertised price per model at compute time and move with the market; the range is the 10th-to-90th percentile, so it already excludes the cheapest and priciest tenth.
- ·Median energy use is drawn from the ENERGY STAR certified set and matched to the brand by name; it is shown only where a brand has 10 or more certified models, and the certified set may not match the exact catalog line-up.
- ·Median capacity is blank for brands whose tracked models are mostly wine, beverage or kegerator units without a published cubic-foot capacity.
- ·A model without a valid advertised price still counts toward a brand’s tracked models but contributes nothing to its price figures.

Fix the universe
Start from the live catalog of active refrigeration models — refrigerators, freezers, and specialty cooling. Parts and water-filtration items are excluded, so a brand count always means appliances.
- 02
Aggregate each brand against itself
For every brand, take the median and the 10th-to-90th-percentile range of its valid advertised prices, the median capacity its models publish, and the appliance types it spans. No figure borrows from another brand.
- 03
Join the certified record
Match the ENERGY STAR certified list to each brand by name and take the median certified annual energy use — publishing it only when a brand has at least the minimum certified models, and listing a brand only at the tracked-model threshold.
Frequently asked questions
6 questionsWhat is the Fridge.com Refrigerator Brand Index?
It is a league table of the 76 refrigeration brands with the deepest line-ups in the Fridge.com catalog, published by Fridge.com. For each brand it reports the number of tracked models, the median advertised price with a 10th-to-90th-percentile range, the median cubic-foot capacity where models publish one, the breadth of appliance types the brand spans, and — where the brand has at least 10 ENERGY STAR certified models — its median certified annual energy use.
Where does the data come from?
Model counts, prices, capacities, and type breadth come from the live Fridge.com catalog of active refrigeration appliances (4,453 models; parts and water-filtration items are excluded). Certified energy figures come from the ENERGY STAR certified refrigeration list published by the U.S. EPA and DOE, matched to each brand by name. The aggregation is the Fridge.com synthesis.
Why is price shown as a median and a range rather than one number?
A single average hides how wide most brand line-ups run. The index reports the median advertised price across a brand's priced models plus the 10th-to-90th-percentile range, so the cheapest and priciest tenth never distort the picture. Only valid advertised prices between $50 and $200,000 count.
Why do some brands show no energy or capacity figure?
Because the figure could not be honestly derived. A certified-energy median is published only when a brand has at least 10 ENERGY STAR certified models matched by name — 37 of the 76 listed brands clear that bar. Capacity is blank where a brand's tracked models (often wine, beverage, or kegerator units) do not publish a cubic-foot figure. A blank cell means "not derivable," never zero.
Which brands are listed, and which are not?
A brand is listed once it carries at least 15 tracked models in the active catalog — 76 brands clear that threshold, covering 3,630 models. A further 242 smaller brands (823 models between them) sit below the threshold; they are counted here but not listed, so no thin sample is ever presented as a benchmark.
How current is the index, and can I download it?
This release, methodology v1.0, reflects the catalog as of July 2026. Prices move with the market, so the figures are a dated snapshot, not live quotes. The full table is available as a CSV at https://fridge.com/data/brand-index/csv, and the method is documented on the page.
