So far, I really like the freezer, especially the green light to tell you that it’s on and the red light to tell you whether or not it’s cold enough I think that is a great feature and they give you two baskets which fit nicely in the top I give this freezer a 10!

Started right up no problems. I did get the red light heat warning on when I put in like 20 bags of creamed corn for awhile. Though that is probably because for one thing I have hardly anything else in the freezer yet and also that day the garage was right at 110 degrees. So overall very happy with the freezer

Ordered on line and could not be more happy. Put two twenty four pound bags of ice in it and it was like a drop in a bucket. Buying meat on sale and freezing it. Money spent will be money saved.

Our new 8.8 cubic foot chest freezer goes along with our GE 22 cubic foot up right. We like the features it has offer. The only negative thing is when they packaged the power cord dented the outside of the freezer. Was a little bummed for being new in the box. It works and does what it was supposed to do.

We have not plugged in the appliance yet, because we are waiting 24 hours. We don't know what it went through during shipment and storage at the store, so we are letting it sit so any displaced oil goes back to where it should be. The size if perfect for what we need.

Cooled to temperature quickly. Capacity is ample, however I wish the baskets were bigger to organize. A chest was not my first choice tho as I’m only 5’1” and it’s hard to reach the bottom, so things get lost down there.

Freezer runs quiet. Love the warning light to let us know if it isn't freezing properly. We are buying a second identical freezer to hold the half of beef we are buying. This is replacing a 40 year old freezer of the same capacity.

Perfect little freezer

This newer model is replacing the NOT garage ready GE chest freezer we have had out in the carport for fifteen years and is still running strong. The reason I bought a new one was to get a real garage ready model and because we have asked a lot of the older freezer. This new unit is a little bigger and has an interior light. The outside indicator lights are bigger and brighter and the back is caged to keep critters out. Everything looks more robust and better insulated. We let it cool down overnight but it was very cold within two hours of plugging it in. If this machine does as well as the last one, we will be very happy. PS - I took the old one to the barn to hold horse feed and keep it safe from pests.

I’m really impressed with the GE 8.8 Cu. Ft. Manual Defrost Chest Freezer! The 8.8 cu. ft. capacity is perfect for storing a lot of frozen food without taking up too much space. It has plenty of room for everything I need, from large cuts of meat to frozen veggies and ice cream. Plus, it’s super quiet—doesn’t make any noise that would bother me while it’s running. Overall, it’s a solid freezer that works well and doesn't take up too much space, all while staying nice and quiet. Highly recommend!

Can't comment on the chest freezer that was just delivered, but... Previously owned a GE chest freezer for 22 years with NO issues, actually donated it to habitat because it was still freezing well (had some cosmetic issues with cracked edges of plastic inside lid). Also had an appliance repairman out for another appliance and anticipating replacing my chest freezer asked his opinion of what brand he considered the best. "GE" So...because of all of the above I chose to replace my GE chest freezer with another GE. I am a little disappointed with the depth and width of the hanging baskets.

So far very good ,went to -2F. in 1 hour . Setting was at just over 4 .. Thats a fast cool down . This replaces a magic chef that croaked in 16 months . Light in lid was a must and is bright . Would prefer cord come out the back , but this is nit-picking . Baskets are a real plus . This is is an 8.8 cu. ft. garage ready unit in a cellar . Super Reliable Chest Freezer

The chest freezer that was installed in our home today is the same make and model of a chest freezer that we bought over 25 years ago, which is still going strong with no problems what so ever. The only reason why I bought another chest freezer is because the first one is filled with steelhead and salmon that my husband caught over the past 12 months. Every year he gives it to our church for a big fish fry at the end of the summer for everyone!

1st chest freezer came with 2 hanging shelves. Lots of room and very quite. I added metal baskets which is a must if you want to maximize a variety of food. This so you do not have to dig to get what's needed. My freezer is garage rated which is a must in S.Carolina.

Wonderful to have a light under the lid. It is too new to comment on the defrosting that will eventually be required. Auto-defrosting would have been great to have but for the price, size, and attractive appearance (if any freezer can be considered attractive), this freezer certainly fits our needs.

Previous freezer, also a GE product, was smaller and did not have an internal LED light which we find very useful. We also appreciate the larger size. If this freezer lasts as long as the previous GE, 10 years, I will be happy.

This chests freezer was just the right size for our family to supplement our refrigerator in the kitchen. I like it because it can withstand the temperatures in the garage throughout the year. It has a bright LED light and the two movable plastic baskets are nice for smaller items we might grab frequently. A few things that would make it better would have been digital thermometer on the outside to know what is going on inside and not having to guess what number to keep the dial and about 3 more feet of power cord, to provide a few more options where we could place it.

I bought this chest freezer to replace a broken one of a different model and make. The delivery men helped set it up and plugged it in for me. Checking it about 4 hours later, it was already running below freezing and colder. This is only day one so time will tell how this works out.

After our old one quit and lost a lot of food I found this one that said garage ready. Just what we needed here in Florida. It’s deeper than our last one so made placements of frozen goods a’lot simpler. We have had it for 2 weeks and it’s running great. Works Great. I have mine on my covered patio. Holds temperature, I have mine set to 5 and maintains a temperature of 0 to -1. Has a tremendous amount of room. I love the two baskets and interior light. Extremely Quiet!! Would highly recommend.

A great little chest frezer!

This chest freezer is the perfect little freezer for our household. We have it in the garage, which is attached fo the house. I monitored the temps outside in the garage for a year (we get some pretty big temperature extremes) to make sure that we stay inside the temp ratings. This little freezer does exactly what it's supposed to. it came with two baskets, and is easy to monitor. It held a consistent temp even when our power went out once for a few hours, and nothing needed to be thrown away. It's somewhat basic. There isn't a lock, it has two baskets, but they are rather small. However, it's perfect for our needs!

Pros: Plastic baskets seem reasonably durable (1st day, so not sure), the lid is countersprung so it's not hard to lift, and there's a helpful defrosting drain on the bottom. I like the power indicator & active indicator. Shape inside seems easy to clean. Cons: The temperature control & indicators are near the floor, so easy to accidentally kick. There's no adjustable feet, so you need to use shims to level it... We'll see how often that needs to be dealt with. The power cord comes out the middle of the right side (awkward), but I like that there's a cord hook in the back so you can route it out of the way towards the wall. I'm not sure, but it looks like the individual inside panels might (??) not be sealed well. I don't want to try to check it because it would likely destroy it to take them off... I'll find out come defrosting time I suppose. Just installed, so I haven't considered durability.

Purchased to survive summer heat in garage. Indicator lights let you know temp is correct. Two internal hanging baskets for small items. Very quiet when running. Very appealing appeariance--looks modern not cluncky & old fashion. However, feel it does gather a lot of frost and ice on inside walls. Only had it since late Dec and it is really frosted.

Great Freezer

Since day one of receiving our freezer, it has performed flawlessly and it is easy to access due to the way it is designed and for being this size of freezer, it can hold more than we had imagined it would. And on a minor side, I really enjoy having a light in it's lid. It makes finding what I want much easier as our freezer is in a shaded area where very little light can shine inside of it.

Small Freezor

So far, so good. Due to space, we have to have a small freezor and this is perfect for just 2 of us in the home. With issues these days of appliances not lasting very long, I hope this will be one to last a while like my 40-year-old GE side-by-side refrigerator. We can only hope. It only comes with 2 baskets to keep small things at the top, but more can be ordered.

Volume size is bigger than expectation. Handle grip makes opening the door easier. Very cold, I am using the min. setting. Noise is small when the compressor is on, other times is very quiet. The lighting is a good feature and very helpful.

I would highly recommend this freezer if you're looking for a replacement or a new purchase. It is very spacious, items are easy to find and the trays are a life saver for small items. It is quite and it's design will fit most decors. On it's capability to keep items frozen it works really good.

Thus far (2 months) the freezer does what it’s supposed to do, keep food frozen. The fact we have a side by side refrigerator, which we hate, but it came with the house brand new, the freezer gives us the space we have needed. Time will tell if the freezer remains a 5 star appliance.

Bought this freezer to store the smoked, cooked meats we are preparing for the next Season. Holds it's "0" temperature well, and accomodates a 16" width wire basket well for convenient storage & access to the foods. We have easy access to our basement freezer.

It Freezes

Our freezer arrived undamaged and in good working order. We have only had it in service for about a month but the food froze quickly and has remained frozen. What else to say- it freezes like a freezer should. The freezer is the goldilocks of sizing: not too big and not too small- perfect size for our needs. The only negative comment I could make would be that it does not have adjustable feet so the freezer needed to be shimmed to remove the motor hum/ vibration.

Freezer doesn't have adjustable feet, just molded feet. To level the freezer I had to use a shim on one side but that wasn't a big deal. Freezer is manual defrost but comes with a scraper. Nice bright light in the freezer lid and there are two lights above the temperature dial, one is a green power light and the other turns red if the freezer temperature goes above 32 degrees. It took about 4 hrs. to cool down and has been working perfectly for the past 2 months. We live in LV and temps in the garage have been above 100 most days but the freezer temperature hasn't varied since it was installed, minus 12 degrees.

Bought it because it was garage ready. The only problem I have had was in leveling it. My son leveled it and once we put the frozen meat in it, no more wobbling. Will wait a few more days to see if frost is still forming by seal.

This was the perfect size chest freezer to stock up on some frozen items. So far, everything is working great. I'm very pleased with my purchase. The only thing that I wish were different would be for the electrical cable to come out the back of the freezer, as opposed to the right side. The placement of the cord is just a little odd. It also would have been nice to have 3 hanging baskets included, instead of just 2.

I was looking for a smaller size than this 9 cu.ft. size but I'm happy that it was available. I'm grateful that it has an indicator light because I can't hear it running. Started filling it the next day after purchase and was happy with it keeping the temp below 10 degrees. If I'm not going in it every other day (garden season), the temp will stay around -4 or -5 degrees. I haven't notice any changes in the electric bill but this is the height of summertime so it's hard to gauge. If you have the space don't settle for a smaller size! I filled this one rather quickly.

Quiet, cool

This freezer has maintained its temperature in our garage during temperatures in the low 90s. I chose it in part because of the "garage ready" description. I like the fact that it has both a power-on and a temperature warning light, which reduces the chance of losing your food should the power go off. Since it's in the garage I installed a remote temperature alarm, which is how I know it has stayed between -3 and 0 degrees during our recent heat wave. There were many less expensive chest freezers I could have bought, but I chose to spend a little more and get a GE rather than buying some brand I had never heard of, especially with our past experience with GE products.

So far no problem freezes well. Good size. Easy to organize because I add bins. I like also that it’s manual defrost. My upright freezer is automatic defrost and ice crystals form on food even when vacuum sealed. Wish GE would start making manual defrost upright freezers again

I am only giving a 3 star rating since I've been using this freezer less than a month. While it has been working great so far, I am reserving a higher rating for when it makes it through a Texas summer in our garage. This freezer replaced a smaller GE freezer that died after only 4 years(and both are garage rated). So I am cautiously optimistic that this one lasts. Lots of room in this one, and it comes with 2 baskets which are nice.

We are very dissappointed in this freezer. It is only half full and will not get colder then 15 to 20 degrees. Freezer temperature should be between 0 and 10 drgrees. We like the LED light inside the freezer.

A poor imitation of my 20 year old Frigidare. The first new GE got sent back because it wouldn't keep ice cream from melting. The replacement will at least keep food on the bottom frozen although food on the top is rather soft. Very disappointing.
