The blue packing film SUCKS!
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I love the refrigerator, however, I gave it 4 stars due to the issues removing all the blue protective film. I spent HOURS trying to get it off & still some remains. It makes the fridge less esthetically pleasing! ☹️

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I like everything about the refrigerator so far except the display screen and not dispensing in cups vs only ounces. I also lost the hot water feature I had on GE Profile but upgraded to Cafe to match other appliances.

Customer photo 1Awesome choice!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
My wife and I have been looking for the perfect counter depth refrigerator with the same capacity as our current side by side fridge. We had almost given up but luckily found this amazing Cafe 4 door counter depth refrigerator and were sold on the spot! It had all of our must haves and really loved the style and fit and finish. It really complements all of our other appliances and fits perfect in our new kitchen. Thank you for building such a great refrigerator and we look forward to many years of use with our new Cafe addition!

I love the brand!!! I remodeled my kitchen 3 years ago, and bought GE Cafe 36” gas cooktop, Cafe Advantium microwave and Cafe Electric wall oven. A month ago, I replaced my fridge with GE Cafe counter depth French door, 2 drawer fridge. The cafe brand is excellent and I highly recommend.

Customer photo 1Best Refrigerator!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I recently purchased the Cafe Brand ENERGY STAR 22.3 cu. ft. Smart Counter Depth 4-Door French Door Refrigerator, and I’m thrilled with it! The storage capacity is fantastic, with adjustable shelves and a dedicated produce drawer that keeps everything organized and fresh. The sleek, modern design fits perfectly in my kitchen, and the stainless steel finish is both stylish and easy to maintain. I especially love the bright LED interior lighting, which makes it easy to find items, even in the back. The smart features are a bonus, allowing me to control settings and receive alerts on my phone. Overall, this refrigerator combines style, functionality, and energy efficiency—highly recommended for anyone in the market for a new fridge!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
For a counter depth fridge, this option has tons of storage space in both the freezer and refrigerator. Plenty of shelving and drawer space. The temperature is well regulated. I love the middle drawer with an option to use it as a refrigerator or freezer. Not to mention, the gold accents inside of the fridge make it look so sleek.

Beautifully made appliance. It’s sleek and configured perfectly to for us. The autofill has been absolutely fantastic. Only downside is the smaller capacity ice compartment and a non-refrigerated water line. Otherwise perfect.

We just installed our brand new café refrigerator, and our already in love! We love the sleek, modern, sophisticated look. And the mix match medals as we chose the bronze handles. The auto fill water feature is great, and we love the dark gray interior and the lit backdrop. The only issue was the cling wrap was a little difficult to undo but overall we got it!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This refrigerator is beautiful! The freezer storage is well designed with the two sliding shelves. Nothing gets lost in the bottom of the freezer. The ice bucket is easy to remove.,,,yea! My only suggestion is to let the customer order the handle finish they would like. I paid $$$$ to get black handles and now what do I do with the gold ones that came with the refrigerator, and the Oven, and the microwave and the dishwasher??? My storage room is getting full. I do appreciate having a handle choice tho.

Customer photo 1Beautiful exterior but not perfect
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Gorgeous exterior and is fingerprint-free and easy to clean. I can fit my 30oz Stanley mug under the water spout. Didn’t get 5 stars for the following reasons. 1. The freezer and middle drawer don’t self close like my last model. You give them a little push then they stop, where my last model would sort of auto close. 2. The left door of the fridge is similar. Takes a good force to close. 3. There is less condiment storage than I’m used to in the door shelves. 4. I had one of those fridge lazy susan trays and it doesn’t fit b/c the shelf is not as deep as my prior model. Not a huge deal but a bummer nonetheless. 5. While the autofill water feature is a PLUS, it really doesn’t ever get it right or fill it up. Still nice to be able to walk away tho. 6. Lastly, the backlit wall is pretty but is not as bright as many other models. For the price, I would have liked to see all these features perfected or nearly perfected.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Love our counter depth refrigerator. Drawer is great for drinks, lunch meats, etc Plenty of room in freezer (3 trays) Easy to keep outside clean. Only issue is where you dispense ice/water. If there is a drip it sits on the shield rather than go into the drain.

Customer photo 1Beautiful Modern Glass 4 door Counter-depth Fridge
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
My new counter depth Modern Glass Cafe is beautiful and smart!! Of course, it's just been installed so far so good. It was so easy to wash the glass front, no smudges! The water and autofill is working as expected. I can honestly say that I prefer white inside versus the gray, but it's still beautiful. Just letting it to cool before filling with groceries. I'm so happy to finally get it. It took 2 1/2 months to get it.

Customer photo 1The size/interior lighting is a great fit for us !
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We just had this refrigerator installed 7 hours ago, but we’re already relatively familiar with it because one of our children has one; my husband has coveted it since he first opened the door. My husband is vision-impaired, and the lighting in this refrigerator makes it incredibly more convenient for him to find things - refrigerator-blindness aside. We justified getting it because our previous refrigerator was 30 cu ft, and gargantuan in our kitchen and rather big for two old farts. So, we gave it to another one of our children with a larger household. The counter depth fits much better.

Customer photo 1Overall seems like a good refrigerator
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
We have only had this refrigerator for about one week. So far so good. I purchased digital thermometers to verify adequate cooling in all compartments and it is hitting the target temperatures I have set. I was dissapointed in that the unit came with factory defects since the box was unopened and the unit was very well protected. The right door chrome edge was recieved scratched. The dairy bin rose gold trim was in part worn (erased) and the inside gray plastic was blemished/scratched. Quality control issues at factory. See pictures.

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Still too soon to provide any comprehensive feedback but so far so good. Like the clean look and basic set of features, that are not too overwhelming or complex. Minor improvement - Would like some customizations on interior light adjustment, autofill feature to work when a container already has water/is not empty to begin with, soft auto-close doors etc...
SatS · May 10, 2024
Customer photo 1Beautiful but features need some improvement
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
This fridge is beautiful but a few of the features leave something to be desired. I like that the back wall lights up so you can see everything inside. The really large door shelves are sturdy and create a lot of extra space! The storage drawer handles are on the bottom of the drawers, not the top as most fridges, so I grab the wrong area every time. The ice maker doesn't make ice very quickly so we run out easily...I think I read it makes 6 cubes an hour. Way too slow! Also, the water filler is so slow I don't bother to use it and use my reverse osmosis faucet instead. The auto fill feature works sporadically. The soft freeze option in the top drawer doesn't soft freeze...ice cream is like a thick soup, not like ice cream. So we keep bread and buns in there instead to keep them fresh and not frost bitten. It works well for that. It also doesn't chill wine quickly...better off using the freezer if you want to chill in 3 hours or less. The freezer works great and the may drawers offer lots of storage options, however, be aware that also limits any large items so be sure you have another freezer so that you can backstock larger things.

Modern Looking but not for everyone.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Great modern looking refrigerator that functions exactly as promised. Very light and bright inside. One thing to note is that it does not produce a lot of ice (small storage bin) so if you need a lot of ice, this is not for you. The upside is more space inside. Left door requires more force to close due to the seal for the ice maker which means no just pushing it and walking away The only concern is the autofill for water. This is not adjustable and fills glasses to about 1/2 from the top. We had one overflow so now every time we use it we watch it with trepidation. Technical note, this is currently not compatible with Home Automation as it has a proprietary interface with no integration available.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

gcmoore · Jan 3, 2026
Beautiful refrigerator
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
This refrigerator is a gorgeous and classy addition to our kitchen as the appearance and style are very elegant. There are a couple of features that we wish were different. This includes the autofill feature, it has overfilled on a couple of occasions and it has stopped well short on others. The fill point for the water dispenser is too close to the edge of the recess forcing users to put whatever they're filling in danger of falling over. The ice dispenser tends to dispense very small cubes that look like it's a blend of cubes and shaved ice. Other than these refrigerator is exceptionally good and, in our opinion, provides the expected value for the cost.

We updated out applicances, refrigrerator, dishwasher and double oven in white. Many compliments were received. The black handles, purchased separately, enhanced the look in our black and white kitchen. The refrigerator contains ample room to keep varying sized food and bottles. Adjustable shelves allow for moving items around. The water/cube dispenser is handy. Vegetable and fruit drawers keep food cold.

Height available for tall beverage containers
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Overall the refridgerator is really nice. There is a tiny shelf on left door at very top that is so narrow it is hard to find anything to fit in it. Maybe airline size liquor bottles? Also the 2nd shelf on left side is split so you can slide it in half allowing you to put taller beverage containers on bottom shelf. Problem is it is not quite wide enough for my gallon tupperware ice tea container; the right door shelf box (also for tall containers like gallon milk jugs) is just an inch too high requiring you to tilt container considerably to insert into shelf. This is not a problem with screw cap containers but again a pitcher full of ice tea means you can't be full to the top as it will spill while tilting. Love the drawers for middle and drawers inside freezer.

Excellent refrig
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
So far (a few months) this replacement refrig is working great. First refrigerator had a ‘beautiful’ major dent on the front facing door. However I’m greatful that GE replaced it . So the only ‘concern’ I have is the ice maker. What genius GE engineer invited this loud ‘kerklunk’ mechanism. First time I hear it, it scared the you know what out of me. This is not a major issue,But, work on it.

Bad Ice Maker, but great refrigerator
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I like the refrigerator and the small drawer. I do not like the icemaker. Ice flies all over, no matter where you put the glass. The ice cubes are very, very small and melt way too fast.
Cindyrose · Oct 22, 2025
Only two small issues
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
My only 2 issues... as of now... are that the ice dispenser shoots ice out the sides unless you hold it practically sealed against the top, plus the ice is small. The second one... just a personal preference... the middle drawer only has one light lighting the left side, it would be great if the right side would light as well

Not bad, but not our favorite
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Beautiful refrigerator. The configuration is nice allows for a lot of fresh food to be stored. I would not recommend the in-door ice and water. This my our 2nd refrigerator since the first had frost issues in the freezer. the water dispensed is not cold. The ice maker doesn’t make enough ice so we are still buying bagged ice if we have friends over. The autofill button only works some of the time. I would prefer to have bigger shelves inside.

Features galore!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This is the first refrigerator of its type that I have owned, having always had a traditional side by side before. I love the interior configuration of this model and its stylish exterior finish and elegant handles! It is spacious and having the backlit shelves makes finding what I need much simpler. The diverse sizes of door shelves allows for having thinner bottles of condiments easily stored and found as they aren't buried among larger bottles, and the wider door shelves easily hold the 2 gallon milk jugs. I am also thrilled with the chilling drawer which I use for wine bottles. The lower freezer with its various compartments glides open, with useful options convenient to use and customize to your needs. The water and ice in the door was a must for me and is simple to use. I also really enjoy the wi-fi connected app. My compliments to the designers!

They are very happy with Café fridge that we just purchased to replace the top-of-the-line refrigerator. That’s only seven years old. The new Cafe refrigerator freeasze is beautiful, both inside and outside. The interior back-lighting illuminates every angle of the storage area with a very elegant appearance. The exterior platinum glass is elegant as well. The ice and water dispenser are convenient and work flawlessly.

Great fridge!!
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Love the way the refridgerator looks and is laid out on the inside. The sensing feature for the water refill is awesome. My only complaint is that the green film that covers the outside during transit did not all get torn off, so there are little lines of green in some places along the edges. I have tried getting them off the best I can, but it looks like it is there to stay.

Love it.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
The only reasons why I do not say great are because: 1) I have had it for only 3 weeks and 2) It does not have a lot of capacity for large beverage containers as the very tall space needed takes away from shorter shelving. My space was limited height wise.

Stylish fridge with great features
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
We like our new refridgerator. It has a great look inside and out. We purchased two additional products from this line to coordinate. We like the third section with customizable temperature for beverages (or whatever you want). I deducted a star because I wish the ice dispenser was a little cleaner with whole size cubes. We often end up with cubes on the floor and the cubes are almost as small crushed ice. Sometimes the autofill feature for water dispensing doesn't fill a cup fully, so we still have to push the button to release more water. Minor inconvenience.

Beautiful and best working Refrigerator
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I love my new refrigerator! Aside of the beautiful aesthetics, it's everything you would want in a fridge and more. The humidity controlled drawers actually keep my produce fresh longer, the lighting inside is just the right level of brightness to illuminate the products so you can find what you're looking for without being too harsh on your eyes. The versatility of the middle drawer to become a freezer has been so helpful already! My husband's favorite feature is the auto sensing water dispenser. Absolutely recommend this refrigerator!

Form Meets Function
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I absolutely love it. It strikes a perfect balance between sleek design and thoughtful functionality. Design-wise, it’s stunning. The counter-depth style gives a built-in, high-end look, and the four-door layout adds a modern, organized feel. The stainless steel finish (or customizable handles and colors, depending on your choice) makes it a standout in the kitchen—clean, elegant, and professional. The interior is spacious and well-lit, with adjustable shelves that make it easy to accommodate large items. The convertible drawer is useful—you can set it to different temperatures for snacks, drinks, meats, or even wine. The GE Café 4-Door French-Door fridge is both beautiful and functional. It’s made my kitchen more efficient—and more enjoyable.

We replaced a 30 year old built in GE monogram. This counter depth cafe model is beautiful. The space is deceiving as it holds more than you think it would and the inside is very organized. Love the middle drawer and all of the freezer drawers and storage. Having the ice maker in the door is great as it doesn’t take away any freezer space. It’s perfect.

Sleek look & Great Features
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I've been using the GE Café refrigerator for a few months now, and overall, I'm really impressed. The design is sleek and modern, especially with the customizable hardware – it adds a nice touch to the kitchen. The interior is super spacious and well-lit, with adjustable shelves that make organizing easy. I especially love the built-in water dispenser and the ice maker, which works quietly and efficiently. The only downside? It’s a bit on the pricey side, and some smart features can feel a little overhyped if you're not using them daily. But if style and performance matter to you, it’s totally worth the investment.

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
We love the center drawer. This gives us the opportunity to put luncheon meats, cheeses, etc in there and have easy access to them. However, this does make the interior of the upper section seem to be smaller. The controls for the temperature settings is easy. The ice maker is in the door which does not take space in the refrigerator itself. The shelving is adjustable to each individual needs which nice. Overall we like the refrigerator very much and would recommend it

The new Cafe Refrigerator-Freezer is super nice. The design is very handsome, the decible level of sound is very quiet. Wonderful modern USA made refrigerator / freezer
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
The Cafe refrigerator / freezer is very modern with nice handles accent. The middle section can serve as a freezer or refrigerator by changing the temperature. The recessed lighting in the back, top and sides allow for easy viewing of the contents, especially the crisper drawers. The freezer drawers make for easy access. The downside of this model is the water filter. I ran approximately 4 gallons through the system and the water still tastes like metal and undrinkable. The Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is 146.

The center drawer for meats, cheeses and softened icecream is a great feature. The only thing that is a drawback is that the icemaker door has very little condiment storage on the inside as compared to my old Viking model. Also the side door trays are a liitleless sturdy than before.

Best Refrigerator I've Ever Owned
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I've had French door bottom refrigerator/freezer before, but I absolutely love this GE Cafe refrigerator. It's back lighting makes it so easy to see everything you have inside and the center drawer holds so many items that you can get without opening the top doors and letting cold air out. The design of the freezer with 2 additional trays instead of one is so practical and whole pizzas fit easily in the bottom of the drawer. There are so many other features that I also love including the measured water dispenser, the door dispenser lighting and large interior inside and door capacity to mention just a few.

Nice design
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I've only had this refrigerator for 2 weeks but I do like it. Because it is a counter depth and only 22 cubic foot capacity (I had to fit the existing cabinet space), the interior space is a bit limited. The vegetable bins are small, but I really like the fact that my veggies no longer freeze as they did in my old fridge. The flex drawer handles the overflow veggies and fruit on the snacks setting. There are 2 gallon bins on the door which are not adjustable, but they at least accomodate tall bottles. If you do not keep multiple gallon jugs at a time, you'll have double rows of regular items in each bin. The water on the door works very nicely, the handle-less design is stunning and everyone has been very impressed with the look. Freezer organization is easy with the 2 drawers in addition to the deep regular space.

A decent frige, but awful packaging!
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I've only had the refridgerator for a couple days, so I can't speak to the long term use of it, but it looks wonderful. Many complained about this being a noisy refridgerator, but so far I haven't noticed anyting out of the ordinary. MY BIG complaint is the amout of plastic film and tape that covered the fridge to the point that I had to call for service to have it removed. Even then, the service people had to use a blow dryer, soapy microfiber cloth and a utility knife with a razor blade to get the plastic film off. The worst part was around the water/ice dispenser where it was stainless steel meeting metal and could easily have been damaged. The whole process of removal took several hours and multiple people. This is NOT a random occurence. I was told that all the new GE Cafe refridgerators are wrapped this way. AWFUL!

Very attractive. Very efficient with a variety of shelves and bins. The counter depth is counteracted by the room needed on either side to allow the doors to open fully. The doors should be hinged such that extra room is not needed. The interior lighting is excellent. The three level freezer is very efficient. Great Refrigerator
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Over all the product is good. We lived in Asia and bought a Panasonic Refrigerator which has Prime Fresh and both the Cafe as it has the Soft Freeze function in the drawer which is the closest we can find to the Prime Fresh. It does work on most meat and fish to soft freeze so we are happy over all. The ice and water work well even the auto fill function works with a glass partially filled. Very nice finish and the back lighting is a very nice feature.

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. Love the backlit interior and organization of the freezer and refrigerator. The middle third drawer is great. The overall look of the interior is great and everything opens and closes smoothly. There is a tray above the right drawer that keeps falling which interferes with closing that drawer. I can't figure out how to secure that tray or its purpose?? The exterior is attractive I wish the first model I purchased(no exterior water/ice) came in counter depth. Since I needed counter depth I had to change to the model with water/ice on exterior. My previous refrigerator was black glass and it was beautiful. Stainless black is not really black, more iron ore gray. The one thing I don't like is the ice maker. Because of its location, you lose regular size storage compartments on the left size. They are almost useless. The ice container compacity is small so it's necessary to keep an ice holder in the freezer and dump frequently. Fortunately there is enough room to do that without compromising freezer space. So, overall we are happy with the purchase with a few caveats.

Challenged myself to cut down on food purchases and decided to get the counter depth fridge to help. We purchased the black matte and have been very happy with it. The fridge helps with organization. The small pull out drawer is useful for items we frequently use throughout the day. The matte black finish does not show finger print marks. Very happy with purchase.

Great looking fridge
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Fridge is still very new so durability is unknown, but the exterior and interior are great looking, capacity and storage options are good. The drawer in freezer is convenient but feels a little flimsy for the supposed highest end model. Our issue is the repeated Error message when using the automated water dispenser and it fails to fill the cup entirely. It’s very random and inconsistent - this is our biggest disappointment

The Cafe refrigerator looks beautiful and works well. There are occasional errors with the auto fill on cups/water bottles, but not a huge problem. I feel that the quality of shelves/drawers is subpar for a top of the line refrigerator. I would have expected better closing drawers that are less flimsy.

We just installed this item and so I am early to review. The matte finish is beautiful. I’m hoping it doesn’t translate to picking up dust easier. It default came with bronze handles. I’m looking forward to purchasing the brass handles as I was not expecting them to be this bronze with a tinge of rose. The lighting and space inside seems ample. Love the flex drawer feature. Wishing it came with cocktail ice feature as some others do by default but happy to at least have ice and water on the door.

Overall appears to be a good refrigerator - minor
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Barely a week since installation So far so good. Cooling/freezing working very well. Initially, convertible drawer was not cooling and was worried but figured out that a simple unplug/plug back or on/off at the breaker switch would reset the fridge and then it started cooling. I installed digital thermometers in each area and set temperatures are bring reached. Very good. Had some minor defects apparently from factory as fridge came very well sealed and protected in unopened box. Scratch on upper right door chrome edge and damaged dairy bin rose gold trim (erased). Also, plastic interior in refrigerator area was blemished/scratched. Factory plastic molding not the best. Disappointed with this.

Cafe 36 Inch Wide 22.3 Cu. Ft. Smart Counter-Depth
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Have had my Cafe refrigerator installed for a little over a month now. PROS: Handsome addition to our kitchen remodel; size is sufficient for a 2 person household; all functions are easy to set up and use; I do like the optional drawer for refrigeration or soft freeze. CONS: vegetable and fruit storage is limited (small drawers) Water/ice on door - Autofil is a great feature although it doesn't always fill entirely - could be the way light hits the unit; ice auger is slow compared to old unit that was not a GE product. Would I purchase again? Not sure - probably would go with a larger cubic ft storage area.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Beautiful GE CAFE refrigerator! I love the back lighting and the platinum interior. The stainless tray in the water/ice dispenser is attractive yet practical. I expect it to be very durable. The handle-less design compliments my narrow kitchen so much by looking sleek and trim. The copper trim inside is very attractive. It adds to the elegance! Last but not lease, the glass coated doors are very easy to keep clean and to care for. And they add greatly to the exterior beauty.

Customer photo 1Not True Counter-depth. Otherwise nice features.
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
The CAFE platinum glass counter depth-fridge has nice features, but is not really counter-depth due to the fact that the door swing will hit the counter or cabinet side panels unless the fridge is pulled out by approximately 4" beyond the counter and side panels. The picture in the ad shows this model protruding only about an inch from tight side panels. This is not possible as the doors won't open. This is quite disappointing.

Lovely design but doors and drawers are out of alignment. Floor is level, and feet were adjusted like recommended in the user manual, but didn’t help. Appears to be hinges. I need to call about it. Ice Maker is only downside
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
Refrigerator is very eloquent looking, however from a functional standpoint, the ice maker is not very efficient as it has a low capacity tray and makes smaller cubes unlike traditional size. Additionally, the ice takes forever to fill a cup or water bottle. Also, be aware the refrigerator only has front levelers, none on the rear of unit. Our installers were even surprised. Considering the cost, it is somewhat disappointing.

Based on what is available and the cost of this unit. We are not very impressed. It's a nice unit and we like the refrigeration section layout but the drawers seem a bit cheap. Same with the freezer drawer, it seems flimsy. For the cost, the drawers should be much nicer. We like the wifi option to handle settings and notifications. If it were not for the fact that this was one of the only units that fit in our location, we would have bought a different brand. It definitely overpriced for what you get.

Vent Poorly Placed, Freezes Produce
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
I loved this refrigerator because of the layout and the beautiful interior. But vegetables placed in the left drawer and on the shelf right about it have been frozen, and therefore ruined. We turned the temperature up to the highest option possible, and it still happened. When we had someone look at it we were told that that is where the vent is, and there is nothing that we can do about it. I have had many refrigerators, and this has never been an issue. I would not recommend this refrigerator.

Nice fridge, but doesn’t work as advertised.
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
I like the refrigerator overall - but the automatic water dispenser doesn’t work most of the time. It will start to fill then give an error. It also fills very slow, so standing there with to manually fill takes far too long. The backlight is her cool, and interior of the fridge is very nice- but for the price I’d expect it to work better. If it weren’t for the autofill malfunction, it would be 5 stars.

Especially for a high end GE Cafe Refrigerator that my wife really likes! We paid a lot of money for this unit and to have these quality problems is unacceptable. Terrible exterior
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
While the inside of the refrigerator is beautiful, the outside is horrible. There’s something wrong with the stainless steel. I returned my first one as I thought it was just that model but the replacement has the same awful etching on the door above the fridge in the exact same place so there is clearly something wrong with their stilss stainless. For the price I paid for a ‘high end’ brand, it’s EXTREMELY disappointing. I now have to hang a calendar to cover it or return it for a completely different fridge.

So incredibly disappointed. I have always bought and used GE kitchen appliances. On my recent gut and renovation, I also updated all my appliances and even stepped up to Cafe. So, not worth it. Taking the distributors issues out of the review….the refrigerator looks nice (backlighting sold me). However the noise from this refrigerator is unbelievably LOUD. It seriously wakes up the house, albeit less than 3,000 sqft, it is so loud. Within 20 days of getting the refrigerator the filter went out. It is very hard to clean the water dispenser without dispensing more water. The auto fill, doesn’t guess right. Just disappointed. The range….even worse and cheap materials for their higher end model

The design is good, but 1) the display bleeds light making it difficult to see, 2) the defrost cycle is NOISY- keeps us up at night, 3) Ice dispenser is painfully slow!!, 4) water tray is too small to place a coffee pot to auto fill (the old model had a sliding tray); and lastly that expensive water filter.

We had our first fridge arrive in March 2025, within about 4 weeks it was consistently giving errors that the freezer door was open when it was not. The warranty did cover the repair, however, it was deemed as unrepairable. Our new fridge arrived a few weeks ago and I am crossing my fingers this doesn't happen again with this same model and I am wishing I had picked the other model. Overall though working with the warranty team was great, they all did a great job to get us re-setup.

Makes lousy ice cubes. More like crushed ice. Plumber told me dealer's installer should have installed a PLUG instead of the water filter as we already have RO water system feeding the unit. Dealer did order me a plug but this should have been handled at install. Also the unit is causing circuit breaker to trip. Dealer also told me this is common and my electrician should know how to remedy it. I have all new plug ins and GFI's installed during remodel already. Really!!

Terrible ice maker
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
The Cafe Fridge works well and the glass front is very easy to clean. That said, I’ve never been so frustrated by an appliance. I like ice and several times a day my blood pressure rices as I have to literally reach up into the ice maker dispenser to force a few cubes out. Terrible design and engineering. Please be advised that if you use ice, don’t by this machine. If you hate ice, the fridge will serve you just fine.

Wouldn’t spend this kind of money on these again

I had all new cafe appliances installed a month ago and so far the refrigerator has started sounding like the motor is about to die, the dishwasher only gets dishes clean with no residue is I use the cascade products recommended with purchase, and the gas range is decent but I haven’t used it much.

Save yourself headaches and buy a different one!

Initially, I really loved the refrigerator. The glass doors are such a great idea, hide fingerprints nicely, and are so easy to clean. Love the back-lit interior, snack/wine drawer, and automatic water filling option. However, considering that high price tag of almost 5k, I would have never expected us to have so many issues with this fridge. It started with occasional water puddles on the floor, most often after exchanging the filter, then water accumulating under the vegetable drawers in the fridge, and now the ice machine not working at all. we've troubleshot anything we could think of but to no avail. Our previous Whirlpool and much cheaper French door refrigerator still runs strong in our garage after 12 years without any leaks and a working ice maker. As much as I want to love this fridge, it has given me more headaches and produced more cleanups than any other appliance I've ever owned, thus I can only advise to NOT buy this refrigerator.

Broken after 5 months

My GE Cafe is 5 months old - it stopped cooling so had a service call & learned the inverter is broken so we are now without a refrigerator for 2 weeks as we await for the part to arrive. Soooo disappointing!!

Lacks storage space
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
This refrigerator from the outside looks large but when you start to fill the inside with your products there is no room to store anything. This unit is a big disappointment from my last same size cubic foot Amana refrigerator. The doors hardly hold anything and the shelf’s are adjustable but not to be fooled once you put a gallon of milk and juice inside its game over. Disappointed with the Cafe’ refrigerator.
