I really like my new refrigerator; it's beautiful and has a large capacity with enough drawers to organize food neatly, making it very convenient to find the food you need.

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Great capacity in the doors and the depth of the fridge. You have 2 problems. Your veg drawer needs to be taller and your freezer drawer at the top and in the back creates ice crystals on the edge of the seal because your back seal is weak.

Customer photo 1Great features, best purchase we’ve made
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This refrigerator is very quiet, and energy-efficient, temperatures in all three areas are on point and our groceries are fresh and quiet, and energy-efficient, keeping everything perfectly chilled and fresh. The sleek design looks modern in any kitchen, and the adjustable shelves make organizing food effortless. The freezer is roomy, and the cooling performance is consistent. Highly recommend it for anyone wanting quality and reliability. Love the flexibility the adjustable shelves allow for organizing food effortlessly. The freezer is roomy, and the cooling performance is consistent. Having the the two sliding drawers in the freezer keeps everything very organized. My favorite is the ice cubes which are smaller in size and a softer crunch. Also the crushed ice is very flaky… in a good way! Highly recommend it for anyone wanting quality and reliability

Customer photo 1Nice Upgrade
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We replaced three of our appliances in the kitchen as they were pretty old. We wanted to stick with white because we live in a small condo with a relatively small kitchen. The Matte White is perfect is it tends to hide fingerprints and other markings. It easily cleans up. And just looks gorgeous. Quite the subtle upgrade from what we had before. No fad-like extras, just classy and upscale a bit. We hope all the appliances last for many years to come.

This was an exchange - but we love the Cafe! It’s a sleek looking refrigerator and it’s not over the top with bells and whistles. The auto fill is an amazing feature and the size of storage is amazing for us!!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Great fridge. The only negative we have at all is the pace of the ice maker. Not quite the size of cubes we’ve been used to. That said, I’ve not run into an issue with having enough ice to fill the the mugs for the three of us living in the house full time.

Customer photo 1My wonderful, beautiful Cafe refrigerator
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We have had our Cafe appliances installed for about three years. We did buy the matching fridge, stove and dishwasher. I love my Cafe refrigerator! It has worked flawlessly in every way but my favorite thing is how beautiful it is. Everyone who comes in comments on the refrigerator. I have very light blue cabinets and the refrigerator picks up the blue and matches everything perfectly. The capacity is awesome, temperature has been consistent. I do struggle with tall things because the shelf spacing is hard to make work but I think that would be a problem with any refrigerator. I have removed a shelf before but really don't want to so I just put up with that. That is the most negative thing I have to say about my beautiful, wonderful Cafe refrigerator.

We’ve had this fridge for almost a year now and absolutely adore it! I read a lot of reviews prior to purchasing and Cafe appliances got very mixed reviews but we ended up with this fridge and the induction oven and are in love with both - they are beautiful, functional, and just great appliances!

Customer photo 1Customer photo 2I’m absolutely in love with my Café fridge!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I’m absolutely in love with my Café CVE28DP4NW2 refrigerator. The 27.8 cu. ft. capacity is incredibly spacious — it easily fits everything from family-sized meal prep to party platters without feeling crowded. One of my favorite features is the full-wall LED backlighting. It’s not just bright — it’s elegant. It lights up every corner so nothing ever gets lost in the back, and it really adds a premium feel every time I open the doors. But what really makes this fridge stand out is the design. The matte white finish with brushed stainless accents is stunning. It’s modern, clean, and elevates the entire look of my kitchen. With my white cabinets, it blends in beautifully but still has that high-end “wow” factor. I’ve gotten so many compliments! If you want performance, style, and smart features all in one — this is it.

Customer photo 1Awesome Refrigerator w/ good looks & functionality
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We just received our GE Café Refrigerator, 36" Café LP Gas Range, and Café Dishwasher and they are beautiful! My wife and I like them even better that our Viking that they replaced. There is plenty of space and options for storage in this Refrigerator. We purchased the Matte Black. Wish we could have afforded the Brushed Rose Handles and Knobs for all of our Café Appliances but we suffered major storm damage from two back to back Hurricanes (Debby and Helene) and flooded in our home with 4' ft of water throughout our home, garage, and mother in-law suite. We ordered GE Café for our main home kitchen, GE Profile for our main laundry, Full GE Kitchen Package for the Mother-in-law Suite, and another set of GE High Capacity Washer/Dryer for the Garage Utility Room. We trust GE Products and my experience with GE Support has been handled quickly and professionally, by friendly professionals who go above and beyond to assist us. I look forward to updating our experiences as we use our new GE Café Appliances over the next year.

Customer photo 1It is really good, but room for one improvement
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I knew I didn't want a fridge with ice and water dispenser. Not only do you lose storage in the fridge, but it does not make enough ice for parties. But I was over-ruled by my spouse, so we got it. In the end, the auto fill feature turns out to be awesome for my family. It works really well! I won with the 4th door, but the flexibility of that drawer's dividers leaves room for improvement. The dividers in the drawer cannot be fixed in position and can move around, not allowing you to fully use the drawer as you may wan. You can choose to keep foods in the drawer @ refridgerator temp, quick chill before a party, or freeze (which I doubt you need more freezer space!) I will say, I am impressed with the "Humidity Control System" drawer for produce. My lettuce has kept longer than it ever has. Also the storage capacity of the right-side shelves outweigh the lack of storage on the left-side door and the freezer has a large capacity!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
The refrigerator stands out with beautiful interior with rose gold type plating. We didnt want much whites on the inner linings and shelving. Based on ChatGPT this is a lower cost option for the dual refrigeration technology similar to SubZero which maintains the temperature and prevents ice burns. Great bang for your buck for luxury meeting performance

Have lived with this fridge for 5 months now and I have to say it is a wonderful product. The lighted rear wall is genius, illuminating the interior to be able to find things is great. The middle drawer I am using as fresh foods and everything stays fresher much longer now. We do have a secondary full freezer but the bottom freezer in the fridge with its 2 sliding drawers keeps all the everyday frozen foods perfect. Highly recommend this product!

Beyond aesthetics, this fridge delivers in performance. With its spacious interior and smart organization, it easily accommodates everything from fresh produce to large platters. AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
The matte black finish on this cafe refrigerator is a game changer. Will absolutely work if you have other stainless steel appliances you aren’t ready to replace. The interior is grey not ugly white that often makes the most expensive refrigerators look cheap. The back lighting is another huge plus! The auto fill feature for water is perfect & if you often use a lot of ice as I do when I brew tea by the gallon it’s so easy to remove the bin. The ice maker being built in the door also gives you a ton more storage!

Very nice interior and exterior looks. Clean look without handles sticking out. Plenty of room for everything. We like the auto light in the ice/water dispenser when you walk up to it and the auto fill for the water. Internal ice bin is a little small and as said in other reviews, it does "spit" out ice, but nothing more than other brands. Lot's of extras that are really nice.

The bad or questionable first.we have only had our refrigerator for 3 days now. The thing I dislike the most is all the little pieces of plastic around the edges of the door and display that we are having a hard time removing. I am a little concerned about the amount of ice it makes. It doesn’t seem to produce a lot and makes me wonder if it can keep up with us. That being said for the 3 days we really like our refrigerator.

Lastly, I love how the freezer has layer drawers leaving the fridge deep with plenty of room but I don’t have to dig to the bottom to find stuff because of how the drawers are layered. Love the refrigerator, but it has taken more than a week to remove all of the plastic bits. It took a plastic razor blade, rubbing alcohol, removing the handles, and a hair dryer to accomplish this. There needs to be a better way to protect it from scratches.

We’ve had this refrigerator for 5 years and it has worked exceptionally well and haven’t had absolutely no issues with it. Beautiful design.
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We love the design of the white cafe appliances. We also wanted an American made product. This is our 2nd refrigerator of the exact model. Our first one was purchased approximately 18 months ago and the closed system (condenser, etc) quit working. We waited for over 3 weeks for parts and were notified that the parts were not available, so this refrigerator was set to replace ours. We were disappointed that our original purchase failed in 18 months, but were grateful that GE took care of us.

After weeks of research, we found THE fridge!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We did research on a new fridge for WEEKS. We went into stores almost every day to look, sometimes checking out the same fridge over and over. We were set on the GE Profile for a while, but I hated the door-within-door, and th freezer just felt cheap to me. Then we saw the Cafe and fell in love! It has the wonderful middle drawer with the glass sliding dividers, an extra third drawer in the freezer (it’s surprisingly roomy in there, we practically have an empty shelf right now), and I also moved the copper finish on the shelves and the interior backlighting. I use the water pouring sensor all the time too. It’s a beautiful and practical fridge, with lots of great features that met our needs. You know you’re an adult when you want to rave about your fridge!

Sexy, beautiful, big and energy wise
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
His name is Marcello. I am 51 years old, mother of three adult children and for the first time in two houses and 31 years of marriage, I finally have a kitchen applicance I am obsessed with. Marcello is always the perfect temperature and welcomes you into a darkened room with a soft increased glow of light from the water dispenser. As you open the doors the massive size of the interior doesn't even require the need for door space. Yet, Marcello, dazzles, those thinner shelves on the water door hold all those items that lost behind or under something else. Marcello is here to make your life easier. Do you want to fill a glass of water while letting the dogs outside? Marcello will take care of that for you. Are his doors open a little too long, the soft gentle notification does not scream, but whispers in your ear, "Do you still need me open"? And the drawers, oh the middle drawer. Marcello's middle drawer can be used to safely thaw items, store easy to reach snacks for the young ones or be used as a wine fridge that you can set to any temperature, unique from the refrigerator. Our Italian house uses Marcello's center drawer as our cheese drawer. While I only have the refrigerator at this time, I've already planned out purchasing all my kitchen appliances to match. This is the first time in my entire life that my refrigerator is not just utilitarian, but a big, beautiful beast named Marcello that takes care of your every need. Also, no dirty hands allowed. Mom's rule.

Elegance Meets Function
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I absolutely love this refrigerator! If you are looking for an appliance that masterfully blends style, capacity, and genuinely useful features, the GE Café model is it. The most noticeable benefit is the sheer amount of usable room in both the refrigerator and freezer portions. We never feel like we are struggling to fit groceries after a major shopping trip; the space is intelligently designed to hold large items and keep everything visible. My favorite functional feature is the versatile middle drawer. The ability to set it for either a soft freeze—perfect for ice cream or quick-access frozen items—or a chill mode for beverages and party platters is incredibly practical and has completely changed the way we utilize our fresh and frozen storage. It's the little details that elevate this appliance from good to great. The motion-activated light at the water and ice dispenser is a smart, elegant touch that turns on automatically as you approach. It makes grabbing a drink in a dimly lit kitchen effortless and adds a high-end, contemporary feel. Ultimately, this refrigerator is a perfect blend of form and function. It is very elegant and truly a centerpiece in the kitchen, but its design is rooted in being highly functional. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a premium, spacious, and feature-rich appliance.

Great looking fridge with tons of functionality
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
After three months of use , this refrigerator seems to be a great purchase. Lots of functional space to store the everyday items that get used. The backlight was a selling item on this unit. It allows you to see what has been relegated to the back of the fridge and we have less spoiled food

This refrigerator has deep shelving, it doesn't look like it is very big, but the added drawer makes up the space. The freezer has a lot of space. Plus it looks luxurious/fancy. I love it so far.

Overall look is great, design needs improvement
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I love the exterior and interior look of this refrigerator. However, I feel like there is room for improvement on the overall design. Shelving has two latch points on each side of the shelves making them very sturdy, but does make for limited spacing options. The grove that goes around the outside of the fridge drawer & freezer draw make it difficult for a nice fit on some food and beverage products, & the three stacked drawers in the freezer seem to work against each other.

Just got my new fridge installed a couple days ago but so far I just LOVE it. The inside lighting is wonderful plus the lighted vegetable bins are great. Middle drawer is exceptional as is the three tiered freezer! Still trying to figure out all of the temp. controls and all but so far its such a beautiful addition to my kitchen.

Have only had for a month
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
We just moved in to a new house. Refrigerator looks nice and refrigerator capacity is good. Do not care for how the drawers work in the freezer. Also the ice barely comes out of the front of the refrigerator. I can't tell if it is because it comes out in a strip of connected pieces and then takes a while to break them up or what. Also the area where the water comes out scratches easily. I also thought that the refrigerator was finger print resistant.

Great look and working out of the box
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Still having trouble getting the temperature zones right as its freezing the vegetables and icecream is soft but hope to work it out. Like autofill for exterior water. Shelving is nice with many options. Not sure I will keep in the pizza tray between freezer and vegetable drawer as it takes away height of freezer space.

I wish we were advised not to put magnets on the front doors of the refrigerator. We used small magnets to hold our children's pictures and art work. We I finally removed them there are permanent marks from where the magnets were. We never thought about this since we always had stainless steel.

My absolute FAVORITE fridge! It’s my wife’s baby she loves it even more! It can hold all of our food without a problem so it has plenty of space and we love the autofill feature. AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I love my new refrigerator! I have not cared for drawer freezers in the past (too much digging around for things) but the design of this one is better than most, with multiple drawers. Good capacity, especially the door bins. Makes ice well, but I wish the capacity was a bit greater. Also, I got the black handles, but it also came with the chrome ones anyway. It makes me feel like I spent extra for something I did not use.

Beautiful Refrigerator!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This refrigerator is so beautiful! It really looks nice inside and out. The number of shelves and the way they can be adjusted makes the refrigerator totally customizable. It also creates so much more room! When I put my food in it from my old refrigerator, I had a ton of space left over both in the refrigerator section and in the freezer section. I also love the autofill, which I originally thought I probably wouldn't use. It is very handy and works well.

Well Made
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I've used the fridge for 3 months now, it is working great. One of the primary reasons I purchased this fridge is because the rails for the sliding drawers are metal. Other cheaper fridges didn't have a smooth sliding experience when testing them out.

We really love the appliance itself. The drawer is honestly one of our favorite features so we are able to adjust it to our needs. The only real downside is the size of the ice maker box you definitely will need a backup stash of ice for large crowds. Highly recommended .

We have had our Cafe refrigerator for about 3 weeks and are very happy with it. The rear lighting is great and allows all of the items to be easily seen. The ice maker is working great and considering that we are a family of four living in Phoenix and go through a lot of ice that speaks well of the product.

Satisfied cafe customer
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
The appearance of the refrigerator is superb. The interior capacity of refrigerator is more than sufficient. My issue is lack of shelving on the doors. I personally do not feel that the refrigerator drawer makes up for the loss of space on the refrigerator doors since they are much shorter. Also, I am really disappointed that you do not make the door, indoor refrigerators and anything but stainless steel. I truly enjoyed that option on my previous refrigerator. All things considered, I am still a true patron of GE.

Favorite fridge of all time
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Our favorite fridge yet, the adjustable shelves are easy to move and configure to our needs. We have so much more room than in a side by side and everything is easy to see and find. No more containers growing science projects hiding in the back of the fridge. 4th drawer is a new must for all future fridges, we stock it with lunch items making our morning ritual of lunch packing a breeze. Not to forget to mention, it's absolutely gorgeous and literally glows when you open the doors! Speaking of doors, it's nice to be able to just open one side and not have to open the entire fridge up to get one item out. The crispers temperature control seem to lengthen to live of fresh vegetables. Love everything about this fridge!

A Fancy Fridge To Live Up To
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
So far I love this fridge. It’s really good-looking as fridges go, and super ultra spacious inside. The rear led light wall gives it a feeling of elegance and helps me see everything in there without being blinding. The shelves are thoughtfully designed to accommodate lots of needs and the copper metal trim and real tempered glass shelves make it feel quite fancy. But by far my favorite thing is the middle drawer, which I call my “deli drawer.” All my cheeses and canned seltzer and various other items I used to have to open the whole fridge for can now be accessed and easily visible without digging through the rest of the refrigerator. If I had any quibbles, it’s that the ice dispenser tends to throw off little ice chips that don’t make it into the cup, and the crushed ice is really more like chopped up ice. The cubed ones are cute and wee, but the crushed ice is uneven, so if you want true crushed ice you would need a different machine. I hesitated to write a review so soon after purchase but when I saw that a friend has the same model and after a year and a half she still likes it, I decided to write my review.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I couldn't be happier with my choice! From its sleek, modern design to its impressive functionality, this refrigerator is a true game-changer for any kitchen. Design & Aesthetics: The platinum glass finish is absolutely stunning and adds a touch of elegance to my kitchen. It seamlessly blends with both contemporary and classic decor. The smooth, reflective surface is not only beautiful but also surprisingly easy to clean. Performance & Features: Beyond its looks, this refrigerator delivers exceptional performance. It maintains ideal humidity levels in the fridge and freezer sections, keeping my produce fresher for longer and preventing freezer burn. The adjustable shelves and spacious interior offer ample storage for everything from large platters to everyday groceries. One of my favorite features is the internal water dispenser and the AutoFill function. It provides perfectly chilled. The LED lighting is bright and energy-efficient, illuminating every corner so nothing gets lost in the back. Smart Technology Integration: I love the smart features! With WiFi connectivity, I can monitor and control the refrigerator from my phone using the SmartHQ app. Whether adjusting temperatures or receiving maintenance alerts, everything is convenient and accessible. It even works with voice assistants, which adds an extra layer of convenience. Quiet & Energy Efficient: Despite its advanced features, the Café Platinum Glass Refrigerator operates quietly and is energy-efficient. It's ENERGY STAR® certified, giving me peace of mind that it's both eco-friendly and cost-effective. AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
This fridge would be perfect except for the ice maker! Worst ice maker ever! For the price you pay for this appliance the ice should not shoot out in all directions and onto the floor. Also, the water dispenser in the front can cause problems with guests who place their cup in the back of the tray. Love the layout, love the lights, love the small drawer, love the freezer. It’s just that ice maker and water dispenser! Would definitely buy Cafe again.

Very happy with this refrigerator! The way it is organized is perfect especially for a family. The upper fridge is very spacious, easy to clean, and also the design allows very easy access to the ice machine from the inside of door compared to other fridges which I much appreciate. The middle drawer was a selling feature for me. It can be used for different things, but it has been great for kids to easily reach their snacks at their level without opening up the main fridge. The different drawers in the freezer are well thought out too. Extremely functional use of space in the whole unit. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Fridge - Not Sure About Handles
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I definitely love my new fridge. It’s beautiful and for the most part feels well made…. But, my problem is my handles keep coming off. Our installation team had trouble putting them on then two of them came off when they were used to open the drawers. Thankfully, no damage to the face of my fridge. We reinstalled - ensuring proper installation- but they are not staying on. It seems my handles may have a manufacturing defect. I’ve had my fridge for 30 days as of the writing of this review.

We purchased this refrigerator in August 2024. This is our first French door and we love it. The upper part is very spacious. We use the Middle drawer for food prep and snacks. The freezer has two drawers within it. We chose the outside water dispenser. It does make less ice than our old side by side but it is enough for us. I especially like the smart feature so I know if temperature changes. The only issue is removing the plastic film. There are still small pieces in crevices that I don’t know how to remove.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We are really happy with our new Cafe fridge. With the options we chose, it is working well for our family. TONS of storage! It even seems larger than my last french door style fridge but per the specs it's smaller. With its masculine lines, it takes up a little less space (depth) than one with curved handles. Autofill is working great so far. And the lights on the inside are just sexy:). Not near as bright as it seemed in the store.

When I saw this refrigerator on display, I immediately fell in love with it. I patiently waited for it to go on sale and purchased it together with the wall oven and cooktop stove. My other frig was 20 years old and I was so ecstatic that I didn't have to bend over anymore with this new frig. I love the way it lights everything up and you can see everything right in front of you. I also like the pull-out draw to put my dairy items in.

Our new Cafe is a great addition to our kitchen. It is roomy, well lit and items are easy to see and locate. I wish the ice dispenser would dispense faster and make thicker cubes. The freezer with 2 pull-outs make it easy to see items. One pullout tray is great for frozen shet cake, pizza etc. We are enjoying our Cafe and glad we purchased it.

The refrigerator appears as described so far. I really love the autofill water in this low vision household. I can do something else in the meanwhile too. Best Refrigerator ever
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This Cafe Refrigerator by GE is the best appliance we’ve ever purchased. First, it wins the best looking fridge on the market with its matte white finish and bronze handles. The compliments pour in from our guests. The fridge has an auto refill for water glasses and works phenomenally. You can make the refrigerator drawer a freezer because you can control the temperature. I highly recommend this appliance, we liked it so much we’ve already ordered the dishwasher and hope to have the French door oven and microwave combo soon too.

Really good fridge.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Overall, I really like this fridge. I like how the back panel is fully lit up. That makes it very easy to locate items in the fridge. The most important thing is, it maintains temperature in all the different zones very well. I gave it four stars because the auto-fill sensor is not the most accurate. It does error on the side of caution, which is a better than the opposite happening. What I mean by that is, it will under fill vs. overfill a container. Unfortunately, sometimes it barely allows any water in the container and you then need to fill manually. Defeats the purpose of having auto-fill. I would still purchase again knowing what I know now.

Love the refrigerator. It's beautiful! Lots of space inside and really love the temperature controlled draw. The only negative to this model is the ice maker. Have to press hard with the glass against the lever and if the glass is delicate you have to use your hand. Also the quality of the ice cubes and the crushed ice is just fair. If this could be improved, the refrigerator would be rated a 5.

Boutique Hotel for Our Groceries
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We love so many things about this refrigerator. It's large but doesn't feel invasive in the kitchen. You can hear it quietly close so you know it's sealed properly. Inside, the back lighting is bright enough to illuminate everything but it's not harsh like so many other refrigerators on the market. (We joke that it's like a boutique hotel for our groceries.) Finally, it's large and adjustable, so it can hold all of the our food (we love to entertain) and be adjusted depending on what we're storing at that particular time.

We are very happy with this refrigerator. It's our first refrigerator with an ice and water machine in the door. It works well, water tastes great. We love the drawer and the versatility it offers, can be a freezer, cooler or refrigerator space. The freezer is large with 3 shelves/drawers. Love our new refrigerator, especially the back light inside. When we ordered it, we didn't realize that it was deeper than our existing one so it sticks out into the doorway a little so the door can open all the way. But, honestly, it has so much room inside that we can actually find stuff now. Love the freezer section with the two slide-out drawers. So easy to keep things organized.

Stunning!
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We purchased this fridge for the sheer beauty as we didn't need a new refrigerator! The platinum glass finish is stunning and does not show the fingerprints as easily as stainless steel. I love the middle drawer and we have chosen to use it as our snack drawer which saves opening the main doors as often as we before. My only complaint is the auto fill for the water does not fill to the top of any container. It stops about 2" below the top.

Most everything is great! The ice maker is okay.
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Most everything about this fridge is perfect. The backlighting is a very cool feature that makes it look futuristic and helps illuminate everything. The shelves provide plenty of space for all the random odds and ends types of bottles that go in there. Everything opens and shuts confidently and after almost two years, this thing looks just as new as when we first had it delivered. Superior fridge. The only issue I would mention is the ice bin isn't particularly well thought out. Though we use the water filter multiple times a day, the ice bin get rarely used. The problem that arises is the ice cubes it make will slowly evaporate and leave white remnants all over the bottom of the container that needs to get cleaned out properly every six months when we replace the water filter. It seems to leave a LOT of waste for something we rarely use to begin with. I don't know if there's a way to seal the bin and prevent the cubes from dissipating, or if there is a way to better filter the water that gets made into ice to prevent this. But since we rarely use this and the ice machine still technically works without problems, I have no intentions on taking ay stars from the overall fridge score of 5/5. We plan on eventually upgrading the rest of the kitchen appliances to match this awesome fridge!

Customer photo 1Customer photo 2Great features - HORRIBLE ice maker!
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
This refrigerator looks great! It does have a lot of good features - spacious. The biggest draw-back is the external ice maker. IT SUCKS! The ice maker unit is too small and doesn't produce much ice - when it does - takes much longer to get it in a glass....sometimes no ice for the entire day. I am now looking into buying a good countertop ice maker. Irritating since we spent a fortune on all these appliances - and this is an issue that we deal with daily. i already see defects on the bottom corners of our dishwasher (where the metal is already cracking as other reviews have stated) and the bottom rack catches as you pull it out - does not move smoothly when you pull it out like our previous 15 year old dishwasher and all others we've had over the years. We had all appliances installed 2 months ago (April 2026 - refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and over/stove combo). The oven/stove and microwave have been doing well so far. Why GE can't do better with this upper line of appliances is beyond understanding. DO BETTER GE!

Strange Door Closer

I am curious as to why the door with the ice maker is so hard to close. It will actually close to a point they bounce back open like it has a piston keeping the door from closing. You have to push hard or push it all the way closed to get the door shut. Is this a design flaw or is there a problem with my new refrigerator

Stay Away
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
Worked well when it worked, but for the price it should last longer than 4 years. Two major components went out within a month of each other. That just should not happen and of course nothing under warranty. I would recommend to stay away. It's not worth the money. We bought a new refrigerator for the cost of what our repairs would have been on this one at 4 years old.

AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
The refrigerator looks great but the water dispenser does not dispense chilled water , when I called my Spencer’s dealer , I was informed that these refrigerators no longer dispense chilled water and suggested that I add ice . The specification states that this refrigerator should dispense cubed ice , crushed ice and chilled water, however water is just at ambient temperature . My old 2008 GE Profile refrigerator used to cool and chill water better than this brand new premium GE Cafe refrigerator .

We have owned our Cafe fridge for almost 4 years. It worked perfectly for 3 years. Now it intermittently turns completely off. Compressor was showing failure. Replaced. System still doesn’t work. Looks Nice, but have had only problems
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
The appliances look nice, and they were great for the first few months. I purchased this fridge, the CAFE range, and dishwasher about a year ago for a new home. The fridge doors do not stay shut due to the flap not catching the door hinge, which is very frustrating. It has gotten to the point where our fridge is basically cracked open 24/7. I am able to make sure its shut, but with young kids, they just open and close it and it does not shut properly, ever. The doors also have lost their suction to close. The range has one burner that stopped working after about 6 months. The dishwasher has chucks of some sound proofing material that just fall out on the floor? I chose cafe because I was told they were "excellent" quality. Very disappointed to have so many problems that started right around one year of owning them. If they were working properly I would give a much better rating.

Refrigerator

The freezer does not work. Making ice cubes from the front door does not work. Filling up water from the front door does not work. Scratch and dent is definitely the way to go over this overrated product.

Quit Working
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
I love the look of this refrigerator and have the matching double ovens. I bought the matte black and it quit working after 3 weeks - both the refrigerator and freezer quit cooling and all my food was ruined. And it has been very frustrating trying to get it repaired or replaced.

No service after 1 yr warranty
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
Had to replace ice maker after 3 years of use. Service tech came back out and had to replace Thermistor. 3rd visit had to replace water valve. Now on 4th service call by same recommended GE company to look into problems because the engine is making a rumbling sound and still NO ice. Also freezer does not totally freeze foods. Contacted GE and only offered small discount off new purchase. All of my appliances have been GE Cafe and will be looking somewhere else!!

No quality assurance apparent.
AJ Madison · 2 out of 5 stars
Had a couple of issues upon install — wheel missing from a glide drawer, dent in exterior panel. A couple months after, a plastic drawer guide in the freezer broke. Now a hinge on the French door is broken. Not well made and no obvious quality checks

Expensive but breaks

The handles continue to fall off from freezer and refrigerator. This should not happen with the line of appliances.

GE - Cafe - Unreliable and Lack of GE Support
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
I’m very disappointed with the GE Café Refrigerator (Model CVE28DP2NBS1). Within two years, the compressor failed twice. GE replaced the compressor the first time, but it broke again within 3 months. After the second breakdown, they only offered a small discount on a new unit instead of a replacement for the refrigerator. They expect us to BUY a new refrigerator within 2 years of a HIGH END CAFÉ Purchase. For a high-end model, this lack of durability and support is unacceptable. Compressor issues are apparently common with this line, so I expected GE to take responsibility. Sadly, I can’t recommend this refrigerator if you’re looking for reliability and value.

Its pretty, nothing else is good about it
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
within 18 months, the ice maker fails and the main fan fails. In the next 14months, the fan fails again- 2 times, motherboard fails 2 times, a control board fails once, compressor fails 2 times, messages state incorrect information (like the freezer is over 20F, but its not or the ice maker is full & it is completely empty) plus, we lost over 1k in food & medicine. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT- 5 separate times have claims been made on this & techs have been out about 7 or 8 times. The only good thing about it is it looks nice.

Avoid due to poor craftsmanship.
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
Pros: Its looks good and has good lighting Cons: everything else.has the ice maker replaced 2 times, the cooling fans 3 times, compressor 2 times, defroster 1 time, mother board 3 times, control board 2 times, keeps throwing errors stating the drawers are open and the temp is off, but it is not true. Plus we lost food 2 times. All this has been under warranty, but they still won't swap it out.

Worst refrigerator we've ever owned. Pretty, but have needed service multiple times, most of which was immediately after purchase. Would never buy another one.

Cannot trust this refrigerator

Not reliable at all. We bought it 2 years ago and the compressor has been spoiled twice already. It took them one month to fix it. Do not buy this refrigerator.

Not Worth the Money
AJ Madison · 2 out of 5 stars
Will never buy another GE Cafe Refrigerator again!!! Had to have doors replaced when purchased (twice). Ice machine knocks and produces ice slowly. As soon as it turned 3 years old, drawer controls died and may not be able to be repaired, ice/water stopped working and freezer went over 20 degrees all in the same weekend. GE Cafe didn’t care as it’s out of the 1 year warranty. The 5 year warranty only covers coolant system.

Nice looks but many issues
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
Nice looking product and love the convenience of the snack drawer. The ice dispenser door has been glitchy getting either stuck open or stuck closed. When stuck open, it lets warm air melt the ice cubes in the ice storage container into a solid block requiring you to dispose of all the stored ice since it can't be dispensed. Be aware of the GE specific RFID water filters for this unit. The WIFI also has never been able to connect into GE's SmartHQ app. Lastly, after 3 years of having the unit, the cooling has had an issue which may be from the control board, cooling leak or bad compressor. We're having to get service to repair to investigate the issue or may need to completely replace the unit. If you consider buying this unit then I would recommend the extended warranty as all these items raised occurred within 1-3 years after purchase.

Worst experience with refrigerator I’ve ever had
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
The only reason I’m rating one star is because zero isn’t an option. Have had this big beautiful water dispenser less than two years and it’s quit working 4 times. Out of manufacturers warranty now but broke down the first time 4 months after it was delivered. Ive bought GE products all my life but this is the last one. It’s the worst. But it does look nice

Not happy
AJ Madison · 2 out of 5 stars
Had the refrigerator 5 months when it started making a noise. Made a video, called the tech. He came listened to video, hooked up to computer - Told us nothing showed up and left. Now it is still making noise, not making ice and the freezer looks like maybe the food thawed while we were gone.

Quit after 6 months
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
I purchased this fridge and had it delivered the week before Thanksgiving 2023. On Memorial Day 2024, only 6 months later it stopped cooling. It’s now been 18 days, 2 failed service attempts and I’m still out a refrigerator.

Freezer Stopped Working, Dents Easily
AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
Purchased this refrigerator about 2.5 years ago. Freezer door came with 2 dents. Promptly ordered a replacement and had it fixed a month or so later. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. New door was installed (also fixed problem with the freezer door not closing all the way). Less than a week later there were dents in what I swear are the exact same spots. Decided it just wasn't worth to keep fixing, so we left it. No more dings over the past few years. Not sure if it has some odd weak spots or what, but something is obviously wrong. A month ago the freezer stopped working along with the ice maker. Freezer can't seem to get below 20 degrees. Luckily we purchased and extended warranty and were able to get all repairs covered at no cost after about 6 weeks. A few weeks later the freezer stopped working again. Another call to the warranty company and we have a repair scheduled in the next few days. I understand that today's products rely heavily on computers and sophisticated electronics. They are so much more complicated than products from 5, 10, or 15 years ago. Can GE not work the kinks out ahead of time and make a more robust product? If it isn't possible then perhaps GE need to offer longer standard warranties. Are the bad reviews on this product just the people that are unhappy? Are the majority of the owners who gave 5 star reviews still happy with their product years later? Unfortunately we are building a new house and have this same refrigerator on order for that house. Crossing my fingers that it and all the other Cafe Appliances aren't as unreliable as this one.

Over priced, many problems, expensive maintenance
AJ Madison · 2 out of 5 stars
Very nice looking, lots of issues, control panel has stopped working less than year, water and ice maker has always been inconsistent, uses filters in excess, monthly, filters are expensive, never had these issues with much less expensive refrigerators.
