I think this is the best review based on experience with the product. I’ve had my side by side refrigerator for over 9 years + and thank GOD the only issue I needed help with was my water dispenser connection. This was due to a move. The movers disconnected a plug underneath the fridge and my ice and water dispenser connection stopped working. Service came and fixed the issue within minutes. Other than that I am thankful and very happy with my purchase. I have other GE products the same age and I must say I am the happiest customer. I continue to use the brand and always recommend to friends and family that are considering new purchases.

By far this refrigerator is a looker!! Grafite finish shows no finger prints. Quiet operation. Love how the fan(s) ramp up and slow down. Best fridge I ever bought.

Everything seems to be working properly on the fridge. The filter needs replacement not but it’s lasted its full lifespan. What I don’t like is the spigot is starting to look a bit dirty/rusty from regular wear and tear and may need to be replaced soon.

This fridge fits in our kitchen which is small. Our ranch style home is only 1008 sq ft. The filter is easy to change. It has plenty of room for a family of 4.

We LOVE our new Refrigerator due to the many features it has. As well as the outside features like the ice. water temp controls alarm on the door, which lets you know you need to close it. Also there is a feature that tells you when to change the filter. The refrigerator also has many inside features as well. It is very roomy. The shelves can slide out , door is very roomy. I find that there is more space in the GE brand than any other refrigerator we looked at. The freezer is also great. It has a lot of shelves and spaces to put everything you will ever need in it. Love this.

There was plenty of procrastinating, then COVID, then more procrastinating, then we decided on this model. The decision was based on our previous GE fridge that was like this but black in color. We needed a stainless steel model, and didn't want the fingerprint-less models, but the real stainless. So far, this unit is perfect! Plenty of ice, no noises that are noticeable, and it cools just like it should. I recommend this model without question.

This fridge/freezer has worked beautifully! We are a two person household and it has plenty of storage. The upright freezer, however, makes storing large frozen packages a struggle. The ability to use ice and water dispenser while refrigerator door is open is nifty!

I waited awhile to write a review (2 years). This is my thoughts on the fridge. In general it's a fine machine. Looks great and has worked flawlessy with the exception of occasional ice bucket backups where large chunks of ice get stuck together and will not break down. This requires you to reach in with your hand and break down the ice. It happens once in s while so it's not a huge problem. The fridge side is great, roomy and has a lot of space. The plastic containers on the door are made well and last long unlike other brands I have had where the containers were cheap plastic and cracked or broke completely. The filter is easy to get to and can be replaced easily. Water and ice work great. My only issue with the fridge is that it lacks freezer space for us. We are a small family and we tend to store a lot of freezer stuff. We just never have enough space. It’s too small and for that reason we are going to replace it with a model that has more freezer space.

I love this fridge mostly. If I could move the top drawer on the fridge side down directly against the bottom 2 drawers, that would be awesome. Right now, the furthest I can move the top fridge drawer up still only allows a few inches of space to store things. I can fit casserole dishes easily there, but I don't always have shallow enough things to put on that shelf, so it either becomes unused, wasted space that I still have to bend down and look through (I know....lazy 1st world problem), or I can't use it at all. Otherwise, I really like this fridge! I have to replace the freezer temperature sensor and a couple other parts that are causing a bunch of frost and ice build up on the freezer side, but I'm confident it'll be an easy fix since watching a bunch of YouTube videos.

This fridge was installed in our new home four years ago. We initially intended replacing all appliances but waited a few years before deciding if we would. This fridge is treat us so great we decide to keep it. I was worried about the amount of items I could fit in the side-by-side but I have fit full turkeys pots of chili and hundreds of items without having to look for more space.

Deep shelf space in both the frig and freezer. Love the ice maker/water dispenser… the crushed ice is so worth it. Would recommend this refrigerator!

I am very impressed with my new GE fridge. It has a lot of space, and I just love it. It keeps the frozen items at the right temperature and the ice maker is a great feature.. I just love it all around. My older fridge had the freezer on the bottom, I did not realize what a difference this one makes. I can see all my frozen packages and don't have to dig to find them. Over all, I give it 5 stars.

It has adjustable shelves to help with storage of any sized objects. The only small disadvantage of the side by side is its hard to get larger frozen foods like pizza into the freezer. But it meets our needs and its not noisey at all. The water and ice are good.

There is plenty of space in this side by side! The Temperature is easily maintained and changed on the water dispenser panel. The ice maker is so quiet never hear it, plenty of ice produced as well. the bottom drawers on the refrigerator side keeps the veggies fresh and the drinks cold. I also have a GE dishwasher and stove and love them both. the dishwasher is very quiet too!

We purchased the GE side-by-side refrigerator as a replacement for another brand that was four years old and of similar size and features. We had spent more than half the original cost of the previous brand on repairs, with more pending. Its GE replacement may be a few cubic inches smaller but has ample room for our needs and crushed ice doesn't scatter everywhere when we use it, as did the older fridge.

Beautiful luxury look and color, without the crazy price! Cons- The large light on the roof of the fridge interferes with storage on top shelf, it's a GE thing. Also the words on the ice maker control panel should not be black, hard to see "ice" "water", etc.

This GE side by side refrigerator/freezer is almost exactly like the 12 year old one we replaced. It’s a little smaller(.6 cu), but it has the same great ice maker, spill proof shelves and pretty interior. The slate exterior is beautiful. Our old unit would have latest longer but it had a very hard life - no a/c 100 degree high humidity summers.

Fridge is great & user friendly. Only issue I've come across is the ice dispenser freezing up occasionally after being gone for a weekend (2/3 days). To be expected, I think, from lack of use. I believe the user manual has this disclaimer. So was not surprised. Wish there was a long term solution to this slight inconvenience.

Durable and pretty

This is a great refrigerator/freezer. Good size inside and easy to replace the water filter. Some things tend to freeze when placed in the back of the fridge, but that is pretty common. We just try to keep those things in a drawer instead. The fridge is very nice looking also. Haven’t had any issues or repairs needed since we bought it around 2 1/2 years ago.

I really like this fridge. The only thing I dislike -- really dislike -- is the main light in the refrigerated area. Since the light comes down several inches and is not flush, it takes up quite a bit of room and cuts down on the number of taller items that can easily fit on the top shelf. This is so annoying that I have to take off an entire star. Other than that, it is great!

We are enjoying this refrigerator very much in the almost 6 months we've had it in our home. We've never had a refrigerator with a water line, so that feature alone has been very beneficial. There are some space limitations, but mostly due to a family of 5 using this unit as well as space limitations for placement.

I love the finish...no fingerprints and so much easier to keep clean than SS. Like the display, the handles, the extra large door shelves. But this fridge is loud. It makes so many different sounds and even some loud enough to wake me at night. Annoying. And there are some cold spots near the back of the fridge that freeze left overs, etc. I've had to turn up the temperature several times to prevent that. I'm concerned about the durability of some of the plastic parts, worried they're not going to hold up over time. Especially the ice and water dispenser. Time will tell. Overall, I'm happy with this product.

Great fridge for the price

The fridge is a little bigger than the one it replaced which I had for over ten years. The crisper and deli drawers are deeper and the interior size holds more than what I need on a regular basis. This is especially helpful because I bake and often need to store extra items as well as prepare for large events. GE is not the brand of my other appliances but it blends well and has proven to be an excellent choice for my second kitchen downstairs. It is actually a better refridgerator than the one I have in my primary kitchen right now. Great purchase.

I just purchased and installed my new GE side by side refrigerator on Friday, 11/19/21. Everything I had in my old fridge fits in the GE with lots of room to spare. Factory set temps for the freezer and fridge were reached in less than 24 hours. Very nice unit.

Meh, it's a fridge

We bought this fridge coming to GE from a high end brand that had high end features, but didn't work well with basics, like making ice. After a month of use, I can say it's a basic fridge. There's nothing that really jumps out as a innovative or unique, but it does what it's supposed to do, which is why we bought it. GE could make some minor adjustments to make it so much better. Let's start with the doors. They swing open and then just keep going until they slam to a stop. An intermediate stop or a slowing mechanism would be a nice improvement. Second, the lighting it terribly dark. Simply switching to LED lighting would increase the volume of the top shelf (the light fixture limits the height of containers you can place in the middle) and make everything easier to see. Finally, the drawers do not slide as easily as other models. Because they have some "slop" in their fit, they can get out of alignment and not slide smoothly. If the fridge can make ice and keep my food chilled for 10+ years, I can live with the above.

Ice Maker deficiencies

The freezer works and the Refrigerator works, so I'm giving 3 stars. My issue is with the ice maker. The water that comes into the ice maker is diverted into a tray. The piece that diverts the water falls off over time - I'm guessing due to vibration. This has happened twice in 3 1/2 years. The first time, I was able to take ice maker unit out and repair. The second time, the piece somehow worked itself into the cube dispenser gears and was chewed up - resulting in pieces of plastic coming out with our ice. Both times, water leaked all over the freezer and food and froze, which required thawing to get cleaned out. This seems like a design flaw, but there is no recall for this unit. I would avoid this model as a result

Ok fridge. Works inside except filter, and the housing broke. We have had 3 years. This is sad cause in Texas it's really hot, we need that ice to help keep us and the chickens cool. I'm in heart failure, I've helps my heart rate stay low. We are finding out that this is a common issue with this series. Wish I would have known before purchasing.

This refrigerator came with our newly built house. We hate it. The ice maker is noisy and it makes me feel like something is wrong with the freezer. It’s reall small. We struggle to find reasonable places to put stuff. We purchased a deep freezer just because of this. The light in the refrigerator part at the top is bulky. We enjoy making pitchers of koolaid or tea and putting them on the top shelf is like playing Tetris. They can only go in specific spots and it’s a fight to slide things around just to get to our milk which has to stay in the very back just to ensure room. We would have instantly replaced this fridge had the contractors not built the cabinets around the refrigerator so tight. I have zero gap and can only fit a 25.3 CU Ft fridge in this space… or smaller.

Good fridge, like you can update Temps on pad above water dispenser. We have had water in Texas, it junks everything up. The inside, it's hard to pull levels and drawers out, it's narrow, when I need to clean. The water stopped working a few years after we purchased. It will haul ice making too. This is essential with high Temps here. Our chickens benefit from the ice maker as well. We are going to try and fix. Overall good fridge, no issues except filter and housing with this fridge. I hear that this is a common problem with this series. Wish I would have known before we spent 2 grand on it.

Although it looks good, we're having a problem with this refrigerator. It's making an almost constant noise that to me sounds like a phone vibrating but my husband says that it sounds like a surging sound. My husband thinks that the noise is made by the evaporator fan.

We've had the refrigerator for over 10 years and it's still running (positive). Over the years, the drain line has gotten clogged over 3 times and the ice maker stopped making ice within it's first 6 years of life). It makes minimal amount of ice. We had to buy ice trays. Food items also freeze toward the back of the fridge.

We love this refrigerator and had an extended warranty now that the warranty is out the freezer is getting cold but not freezing. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this and have tried everything every forum has told me. I am at a loss and really don't have the extra money to purchase a new refrigerator. Help!

The tray where ice and water is dispensed drips water down the front of the refrigerator and onto floor. Ice maker stopped working after two weeks. Hope the warranty does what it says it will! Arrived with two scratches on the front door. Waited from august to October then to November then December to be told it took too long and this order was no longer available. Not happy with this product or company.

The freezer door shelves are to small to hold anything. The bottom bin is useless. The fridge door shelves are ok, a little small on the bottom. The way the shelves are adjustable take up a lot of width in the fridge. The water/ice buttons do not light up, you can see what the selection is. It looks good from the outside.

Regretting my decision

Wish I would have gone with the top French door model. But I really wanted the water/ice maker option on the outside. The single dispenser for ice and water means you have to change the buttons constantly. The refrigerator portion just seems small. In part because of the placement of the large light. Seems like a lot of space was wasted. Should have believed the online reviews because it was constantly mentioned as a negative. It wasn’t available to look at in person where I made the purchase.

The refrigerator is ok in terms of space, design and capacity although I prefer the 3 door models. The refrigerator makes a loud and annoying noise when we he fan turns on the cool the refrigerator, it sounds almost like a bike engine. People always ask for there is something wrong but according to the tech guy we called a couple of days after we got it, said it was a thing with these model. I would love to exchange it for another refrigerator if possible.

If I can do anything to help you prevent future frustrations, stay away from GE appliances at all cost. I have a 4 year old home, furnished 100% GE. All have failed, except the dishwasher. Whoever the engineer for the dishwasher is, should engineer the entire line. I had a repairman tell me on my last call that he won't ruin his reputation working on GE's junk. He actually recommended throwing it in a ditch.

I’ve changed my water filter 4 times with no issue, I changed it this last time and I’m getting an error message from the filter status which is causing my ice maker not working nor my water dispenser. I’ve tried troubleshooting by unplugging it for about 3 minutes then plugging it back in. The water appears to be working for the first 5 minutes of being plugged in then reverts back the the error filter status. I’ve also tried the bypass plug that should bypass the filter status to produce ice and water, however this was not the case for me, as I’m still receiving an error message

Completely disappointed; I purchased this fridge in 2021 and now it won’t hold temperature. I’m trying to find a replacement gasket for the freezer and fridge doors; but the original is out if stock and the new one is getting just as bad of reviews. Thought I was purchasing top of the line with GE by getting what was supposed to be one of their best fridges. Nope, completely took my money, and I paid $1,600 for something that’s not lasting. I really hope I can find gaskets that work and GE isn’t just leading their customers to spend more money on their gaskets that are going to quite again in less than two years. Also, it can be super loud and the plastic inside is super cheap and starts cracking and breaking in a couple of month with gentle care. Beyond infuriating!

Wish we hadn't bought this GE refrigerator, we always buy GE, but this one has been awful since day 1. Ice/water dispenser always has a constant drip, ice is always getting stuck in the ice maker mechanism, the door space for condiments is so very limited, the lights in the refrigerator at so few and dim that we have to turn on the kitchen lights to see better inside the frig, the shelving spacing is limited. It was a purchase that we needed that night, I have always trusted GE products, I am surely not happy with this frig. Shame I am stuck it with now.

This product uses a plastic part to "crush" ice and that piece eventually breaks, luckily it was in my ice and not my kids.. it could have been real ugly if any of us actually swallowed the broken pieces

I purchased this GE appliance expecting the quality and reliability the brand claims, but it broke down well before it should have. This unit is not old, yet I’m already dealing with major issues that make it completely unusable. I’ve owned appliances from companies like Samsung and Whirlpool in the past, and I never experienced anything like this. Those brands have proven reliable over years of regular use, so it’s incredibly frustrating to have a GE product fail so quickly. Honestly, I cannot recommend GE appliances based on my experience. If you want a product that lasts and doesn’t cause unnecessary headaches, I would look elsewhere. Save yourself the time, stress, and money I definitely wish I had.

This refrigerator was not great. The compartments are cheaply made. The drawers broke. Everything you put it the back of the refrigerator freezes. The freezer was ok until the ice machine stopped making ice but that didn’t happen until year 5. I really wish you would make appliances to last longer. I will not be purchasing a GE again unfortunately because I no longer trust the brand quality.

The ice make keeps freezing up then the keeps dripping down to the fan and freezes it so I have to keep the water turned off and not use the icemaker. The shelves and drawers broke within the 1 st year now they are all falling apart. If you put anything on the 2nd shelf anywhere it freezes.

When I built a new house I bought a set of GE fridge, stove and dishwasher. Now 5 years later the dishwasher had to be replaced, the elements on the stove had to be replace and now the seal in the fridge door needs to be replaced. Safe to say I will never purchase another GE appliance in my life.

I bought this refrigerator 7 years ago and regretted buying it almost immediately. It’s noisy and the side by side is very inadequate in storing items in the freezer—not easily accessible w/o removing items to access what is in the back or bottom basket. The refrigerator side is also inadequate. I am looking for a french door refrigerator so I can get rid of this “mistake” as soon as possible. Absolutely hate this one every day since purchase.

I was happy when the new home we purchased had all new GE appliances. The fridge broke after just 4-5 years. Main computer very expensive. Leaks water on floor from time to time. Water dispenser outlet is always filthy despite filter being changed in a timely manner.

Obviously it is not under warranty any longer, so we are trying to get a repairman. I have purchased GE products for over 40 years and hope this is not the quality I can expect in the future.

This unit is noisy....When it runs there is a high pitched sound like an ultrasonic alarm system. In the day time not as noticeable as the evening when things quiet down. Definitely noticeable when everyone is in bed. I even had a tech come out to check it out and he said it needed cleaning so he did that. It seemed a little quieter for a day but resumed the noise later. I've cleaned it multiple times with no difference in sound...... Ice maker freezes up once a month and you have to pull the ice bucket cover off and break up the ice build up.... The shelf locations are not handy....The lunch meat drawer, which should be near the top is at the bottom making it necessary to bend almost to the floor to access... Doors are too thick! Our installation limits the right side door opening to 90° which makes it very difficult to get into the drawers and of course requires pulling the whole fridge out of it's recessed cabinet to remove the drawers and shelves for cleaning.... Lastly, the indicator LED lights are ridiculously bright on this model. Found out later some models have green LEDs which are easier on the eyes, especially at night. I actually painted the lights with red fingernail polish to cut the glare including the nightlight.... Unless I win the lottery I'm stuck with the unit until my extended warranty expires...... Will definitely research more thoroughly the next one I buy!!

Never worked properly

I selected this model when I had my house built 4 years ago and this was the newest color at the time. This unit has always froze everything that you put in the back of the refrigerator. The ice maker always had partially thawed ice as if the defrost timer was on too long then the ice would freeze together in a clump, and when you used the ice chute it would break the plastic auger that dispenses the ice out of the bin. The LED light strip in the freezer went out within the first year. it has always made a noise coming from the back of the freezer that I had a technician fix along with the LED light strip, and it still makes noise. The door always goes out of adjustment and it swings open and hits my counter. I am in the process now to order a new ice dispenser because I’m tired of sticking my hands in the ice bin and grabbing ice with my hands. And everyone else’s dirty hands. I feel that this review needed to be written for anyone else that is looking to buy this model.

We purchased this unit over a year ago to replace the 20+ year old model we bought when we built our house. I have never been so unhappy with a purchase. The light in the refrigerated section is so large we had to remove the light cover to fit milk and juice bottles onto the top shelf. The lights themselves are tiny LED’s so I’m not sure why the cover was manufactured the way it was, not to mention all the space it takes up behind the light. Whenever the freezer calls for cooling the fan vibrates, the rattling noise can be heard all over the first floor of the house. The refrigerator door bins are so shallow that I’ve had to store the bulk of my condiments on the shelves, they are barely deep enough to hold a bottle of Worcestershire sauce. The freezer door bins are fairly unusable due to their shallow depth as well. Newer is NOT always better.

We just got it in June and had repair out to check on the noise and they said it was normal?? It’s Pretty but Very Loud!!

This refrigerator is very pretty but loud and vibrates. I’ve pulled it away from the wall, moved my food around in the freezer so it doesn’t touch the walls of the freezer, emptied out the ice it accumulates but it continues to rattle and vibrate. I literally hate this refrigerator now because it’s so loud. The noise travels and it lasts for several minutes and will turn off and on. It sounds like it’s on its last leg all of the time. No longer sold on GE products, got a dishwasher and stove as package with the refrigerator and the dishwasher no longer works or runs and the stoves’ oven takes a long time to bake.

This is a nice looking refrigerator, but once you open the doors, you will be disappointed! There is a lot of wasted space on the refrigerator side. They put a large dome light in the top which eliminates a lot of space. The shelves are adjustable, but not enough. The shelves on the door are very small as well. As far as the freezer side, it is very limited in space. We had to buy an additional freezer to accommodate our frozen food. Everything is just laid out wrong in this unit. We had to buy this unit sight unseen due to no one close had refrigerators in stock. I guess this is what happens when you have to order an appliance online after your current refrigerator goes out. Pictures are deceiving on website.

The freezer has less shelves than our previous and really wish my wife looked at it more before ordering or I found one in person to look at. The unit is quite and cools great, but just not the best use of space

We move regularly. I have owned nearly a dozen different refrigerators in the last 5 years. This is buy far the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. Less than 6 months old and already having our second service call. Repair firm lead me to believe the our issue is a known concern that the factory is working to address. Great, but now we have another problem just weeks later. Save yourself the irritation (and time meeting repair contractors) and simply just do not buy this.

Sounding too loud since day one I bought, finally an engineer from GE was assigned and the issue he found needs a part replacement. The part was ordered and again the engineer will come in 15 days later. Too slow service..and new product was not tested properly before selling to customers.

Display Panel Malfunction and Keep Shutting Off

It's only good when it works. I own the refrigerator for a little over a year (13 months to be exact) and already have issues with it. The first one was the ice maker tray malfunction. It was under warranty so they sent me a new tray. Now the display panel decided to go bad right after the warranty is over. What are the chances! Every time I press the ice dispensing button, the display would turn off and then turn on after a few seconds and never dispensing ice. I was happy with the features but the quality is questionable. Now I'm stuck with a malfunction refrigerator.
