Great Fridge

We are remodeling our kitchen and we purchase this Cafe fridge. I love the spaciousness of the fridge section and the organization of the shelves and stuff. I LOVE that the water dispenser is inside the fridge-this keeps the fridge door clean and no water/calcium build up. It’s a great fridge.

We bought the Ge cafe set to go with our white/gold/blue kitchen combo and it turned out beautifully. The appliances add a unique and custom feel to the kitchen, work well, but did not require top of line prices. Plus AJ Madison communicated regularly and tried to serve us before deadline on all the GE products, which were on long back orders.

This refrigerator and freezer is perfect size and is very easy to organize. The best part about dealing with GE is that my appliance person takes care of me and when the fridge did not work exactly as it should, they replaced the entire thing with no questions asked. I also bought the copper handles for all of the appliances and it looks great.

Simply yet very classy. It matches my Cafe double oven in black. Did not want water outside so this is perfect. Too many features just present extra problems. I am upset that my remote quit on my oven. I don’t understand why being it is a wifi related issue.

I want this! That's the immediate reaction when people first see our Conference Suite's new refrigerator. The exterior is beautiful, and the interior is bright and spacious. The icemaker and water dispenser are located with the fridge so there is no unsightly hard water stains to distract from the appearance like many fridges.

I originally wanted the matte white appliances, however pur kitchen designer recommended stainless steel due to them being timeless and not trendy. This stainless shows every fingerprint amd smudge. I wish resistant stainless was an option in the cafe appliances. I chose this basic model for the clean lines and only needed space for 2 people. I was afraid it would not have enough storage room. It is surprisingly spacious. The water dispenser is inconvenient, so I am not sure I will use it.

Since we are trying to eat more vegetables and fruits, the french door style along with the lighting is extremely convenient in accessing these foods, analyzing what is available and what needs to be discarded. Since food prices have gone up, we are also trying to minimized the amount of food waste. We're finding that we're eating through the food we have bought instead of tossing it in the composter/throwing away. Great design and lighting. Like the ice maker too!

Really great looking refrigerator that is doing a great job keeping our food items cold. We are having a problem with the right side handle pulling off of its top support (not sure that’s the correct word). We have tightened the screw numerous times but have had to resort to pulling the handle near the bottom to keep it from disconnecting.

I'm obsessed with this refrigerator. It's gorgeous! I purchased the matte white, and I can tell you, you will never go back to stainless if you try this. It looks immaculate even in a large household. Doesn't show dirt and fingerprints at all. The inside is a show-stopper, too, and holds a ton. The freezer is small, which is a common problem for this type of refrigerator. I have an overflow freezer so I'm not bothered by this.

I have only had this refrigerator for a couple of weeks but I really like it considering it’s a counter depth appliance. This new fridge replaced a twenty-year-old GE Arctic side by side with custom panels which looked great but had multiple problems with the ice dispenser located on the door. This time I knew I did not want ice or water in the door as these appliances have more problems long-term (especially on the french door models). The led lighting on my new GE is much improved-you can easily see/find items on the shelves. And, because of the french door layout there is more room than my previous fridge. I also like the matt black finish a lot more than I thought I would-it doesn’t show fingerprints unlike my black stainless dishwasher. One down side is the glass shelves-for the price they should be sturdier. This is a higher end product-but compared to my old GE this new fridge is made a lot flimsier-and the workmanship is sloppy. I can see at the edges a little white at the seams-which I believe is insulation-I used a black magic marker to color the white black so it looks ok, but quality control is poor. In closing let’s just say needing a counter-depth fridge (that is black) and fits my custom cut opening left me with options. I research everything I buy so I knew not to buy the appliances that start with the letter S or L. This left me with even fewer options….but my old GE Arctic lasted twenty years so I would be stupid if I bought anything else. Bottom line: so far it’s a good fridge but it’s new. I can only hope it lasts as long as the last one. I would buy this refrigerator again.

Surprising amount of room after replacing a full depth refrigerator. Keeps cold evenly, accurately and quietly; makes more than enough ice. We decided to skip the exterior door dispenser for water and ice, which created a lot of room in the doors for storage. We paired this with a Cafe double wall oven in our kitchen remodel. Only thing I don't like is the short tubing length for the water dispenser on the left inside wall. It is only 1/2" long nad I am thinking of ways to extend it's length.

This refrigerator is surprisingly spacious, replacing our full depth french door refrigerator during a kitchen remodel. We did not want an in door water and ice dispenser, so we chose this Cafe model along with a Cafe double wall oven. The refrigerator keeps even and accurate temperature and is very quiet. Having the water dispenser on the left side wall of the unit is convenient; but my only complaint is the water line should extend more than the 1/2" it is. That would make filling a coffee pot or large measuring cup much easier.

Overall am pleased with this product. However, the in-fridge water dispenser (feature that is a must-have for me) requires 2 hands to operate, thus, unless both doors are open, quite awkward to maneuver. Would be nice to use container (glass etc) to depress button to simultaneously dispense the water (a handy feature noted in other refrigerator makes/models). As it is designed now, need one hand to hold glass other hand to keep button depressed to dispense water. Also the “floating” top & 2nd tier shelves seem not to be safe for the weight of large casserole dishes. So veggie/meat shelve drawer top has Ro be reserved for those (that posed a challenge during the large holiday meals (thanksgiving & Christmas). Had to utilize the much sturdier shelve in my Bosch fridge. As a Grandma, i also miss that the “stainless steel finish” is not real so no chance to put magnetic pics of the grand-kids—not a deal breaker however (-:

We just got it yesterday and love it! We opted for no outside water/ice dispenser and so inside we have lots of room. No more losing items in the back of the fridge. It’s so well lit inside. We ordered the gold handles for an additional cost and it really elevates our kitchen.

Customizing the handles caught our eye! We liked the design and counter depth size but little did we know the handles come with ONLY with a copper color! We have to order extra handles at quite an expense! AND since the color we wanted was on back order , we have to hire a handyman to take the old ones off and install the new ones. It’s too bad that you can’t order your fridge with the finish that you prefer. Next, we’re still waiting for the new handles and it’s been 5 wks and the delivery has been pushed out again. The sides of the matte white refrigerator are BLACK!!! We were forced to buy white contact paper to put on the sides- (magnetic still works ). Another negative that GE could remedy is adding a small plastic ice scoop- we had to go out and buy it. Our ice dispenser is in the freezer and leaves room in the fridge. The larger model w the ice/water on the door has a humongous ice dispenser mechanism inside the refrigerator door but a very small amount of ice! We’re glad we opted for the sleekness of the outside with the water inside. Although, that is not without its challenges! It’s difficult to dispense the water bc one has to literally open both doors and get IN the refrigerator to put one hand on the button and another holding the glass. So we have removed one left door shelf to give our arms more room so we didn’t have to be contortionists! And we’re not big people!! Shall I continue? Just want you to see the whole picture! Just know the matte white color is SUPER WHITE and has made my soft white cabinets look dingy. We like the bottom freezer but not the fact that the top shelf of the freezer slides forward all the time even when we have leveled the fridge- annoying! Everything else is fine! It is a very attractive refrigerator that doesn’t look institutional! GO FOR IT!!

We just purchased a Cafe counter-depth 23.1 cu ft french door refrigerator and it is Absolutely Perfect. It fits like a glove in our fridge space, the inside is perfect for storing all of our items, and, the freezer drawer is a great size for all our freezer foods. One word to describe it "PERFECT"

We love our cafe refrigerator. The deep storage doors gave us so much shelf space. It also made everything easier to see and use. The water on the inside wall is very good use of space. The freezer compartment with the ice is just so easy to access. The Counter depth works well in our kitchen. All in all. It’s a 10.

I would like to see the inside to be a little deeper. I think the drawers for vegetable are too small and overall storage for leftovers and larger milk, juice containers is too small. The shelves in the drawers are wonderful and have a lot of space but for a family of 5 with 3 teenage boys, we need more overall space. Also the alarm goes off so quickly. If you need to clean or organize the fridge it seems like the alarm rings in 30 seconds.

Great capacity for a counter depth. Great storage except that bottom drawer is not deep enough for a wine bottle to lie flat since they put much larger bins on the door. The doors are somewhat hard to close and will not close on their own even with a fairly hard push. Must manually push on the door to close it.

Decent fridge so far. The only complaints is with the size of the freezer and the water dispenser. Freezer drawers are angled, not square. You can't fit very much in them. The water dispenser inside the fridge is also difficult and awkward to use, you have to press the button to dispense yourself instead of being able to just put a cup up against to dispense. It's hard to press also.

Beautiful appliance. Our contractor said it was the "Porsche of refrigerators." My only issue is w water dispenser. It's built in to walls of fridge & must be accessed from open doors & has a tiny stub of hose you need to hold vessel under w one hand while pressing dispense button w other hand. Not like any water dispenser we've had.

I'm 71 and just refinished a kitchen in my home. Over the years I have refinished 3 kitchens and replaced many appliances in my homes. I do love the ice maker dumpling the ice into the freezer. We use a lot of ice and the in-door ice makers don't make as much ice and take up refrigerator space. The instruction manual left a lot to be desired. In placing the door shelfs it wasn't easy to figure out where they went since the sides weren't described as to which went on which side. There was a small bin that the instructions led me to believe went in the freezer but I couldn't figure that out so I have it as a divider in a refrigerator door bin. The plastic protecting the refrigerator was left for me to remove. It was very difficult. I visit a trainer at the gym and it took me 3 days to get it off. My husband tried helping me but he didn't last long.

This is our second Cafe refrigerator in five years. The first one we purchased brand new ended up being a lemon and had to be completely recycled. We now have this and we're hoping it holds up longer than four years. The ice machine is a beast and keeps up with our family of five. Having the interior water dispenser makes the capacity of the refrigerator much bigger, adding shelving on the left door where the ice maker once was. The cooling is great compared to our other that was having trouble keeping up. The dimensions work perfectly with our beautiful cabinet surround. We're very happy overall (so far).

We are thrilled with our new refrigerator with only one recommendation. The temperature of the water initially dispensed from the water is colder then if a second or third glass is filled. Perhaps the reservoir for the water dispenser could be a little larger than present. It’s only a minor concern and we are very happy with our new Appliance.

This refrigerator is on the smaller side, but works just great for two retirees. The water dispenser inside the refrigerator is just fine. You do need two hands to operate it one hand to hold your glass and one hand to press the button. We never liked the exterior water dispensers as they make such a mess. And we very rarely use the water from the fridge anyway. Seems to work just great, and the interior is nice and bright for us older folks who have a hard time seeing things. Some of the newer refrigerators have a very dark interior and it makes things hard to see. This one is great. The refrigerator is very quiet as well, and easily keeps our items cold. The shelves are flexible in their position so that you can situate them however, you want. If you have taller things, you can just move the shelf up to accommodate them. I also like the on door Shelves as they are also flexible in their position. It’s nice to put half gallons of milk or soda containers on the doors.

In general this is a nice refrigerator. It is a replacement for a sub zero I had for 26 years. I miss my big crisper drawer. The two produce drawers are just too small. On the plus side:it is quiet, the inside water dispenser is very convenient and the bottom freezer is fairly large.

Smaller cubic feet than what we had , but the layout makes it appear larger. So far so good. Would buy this again without question. Only negative ( and it's not a big deal) is the compressor is a bit louder than what we had.

This refrigerator has been excellent. Beyond looking great it has been 100 percent reliable, is quiet and with even temperature control, i installed this on Nov 1 2022. It does everthig a fridge should do. Sit and keep food cold and frozen. I find the matte white exterior easy to keep clean. The metal handles are also easy to clean. When I installed this fridge my electric consumption ( actually usage in kwh not price) dropped 35%. upon replacing my older smaller fridge. I bought from a local dealer ,

All the other features are very nice. Thankfully there’s plenty of room to keep a jug of water. It’s such a pain I don’t use it. If your a big water drinker skip this model for sure.

I love everything about this refrigerator with the exception of the water dispenser. If I fill two glasses at the same time the second glass is not cold and I have to add ice. I’m not sure if I have a defective unit or this is just how this water dispenser works. The spout also is not particularly user friendly. For example, my old refrigerator I was able to fill my coffee maker directly from the spout. With this model I have to use a water bottle to then fill my coffee reservoir.

Beautiful appliance. Inside is bright and spacious. I am not fond of the lowest door shelves, as you cannot see what’s in them. I wish the door trays were interchangeable for both sides. It would provide more room for jar type items. The inside water descender is a little awkward. You have to press really hard for the water to come out. It would be better if it was sensor controlled. Our ice maker is very loud, which surprises me. The SS doors are so easy to keep clean! Our other SS refrigerator was awful.

I am very happy with our counter depth Cafe refrigerator. The size is perfect for us empty nesters. We had a GE Profile for almost 15 years and decided to stay with GE when getting our new fridge. We chose to not get water or ice maker. I think the sleek look is modern and the black matte fits with our other appliances. It’s a great refrigerator and we are enjoying it very much.

This is a replacement for a 14 year old unit. You have cheapened the new model quite a bit. Old one had stainless sides. New one doesn’t. Lots of plastic in the new one. Old one had metal baskets in freezer. Makes a big difference.

So far, so good. We like the depth of this refrigerator, it has more capacity than our old 17-year old Viking counter depth. It's too early to tell how well it performs in the long run, as we've only had it for a month, but the interior is spacious and well-lit with a good layout; it's quiet, and the side of door controls are easy to use. However, there are a few small inconveniences. I agree with other reviewers - the water is a bit of a pain to dispense, you have to have both doors open to get a good angle and the water flow is quite slow, which wastes a lot of cooling energy. Also, I agree with another review that said that the stainless steel finish gets marred very easily. I disregarded that review when I was purchasing, but compared to the SS finish on our old refrigerator, this one definitely shows finger prints and water drops more readily. I end up wiping it down with a stainless steel cleaner every few days or so. Sort of minor complaints, but hopefully they fix those issues in the next iteration.

The lighting is amazing; the pictures on the website don't do it justice. The build quality is sturdy. The noise level is high - I can hopefully find the part that is vibrating in the back and find a way to secure it. If it were quieter (and not require my poking around to try to fix it) then this would be five stars.

We love the spaciousness of this fridge, it's a sleek design, looks great in our space and it's done well at maintaining temperature. Our one complaint is the internal water dispenser - it isn't super easy to use having to press the button and hold the container while standing inside the fridge door, it's just awkward. But we love having it inside to save door space and offer a cleaner design. One that would dispense with pressure from the vessel would make this 5 stars. I would give 4.5 if I could.

We tried to get this refrigerator 2 years ago but shipping and container delays were still in place with Covid. We repaired our Electrolux which was similar and it finally died. Prior to selecting the Cafe’ refrigerator we researched many but liked this one the best. It is a counter depth refrigerator with the water inside which we wanted. It is the same size of our last refrigerator but the interior design of the Cafe’ allows for me to clearly see what is in the fridge and the side doors have deep containers for soda, juice and taller items. I am still learning about the features. The only negative thing is that it doesn’t come with a hard copy manual, just a paper insert for installation.

Love the color & finish easy to clean as I hate stainless steel as it discolors, burnished, and stains. I otherwise love this white & the accents just not the drawer. One other thing did not get a manual so I don't know where this loose plastic shelf goes. Would appreciate a manual.

We love the style and functionality of this fridge, we've been using it for a few weeks now and the shallower than usual design is helping us keep track of what we have in stock. Our only gripe would be that the freezer was getting forming a lot of ice at first, it seems that the sealing rubber needed to be stretched out to make a proper seal in some areas. Aside from that a great product.

Overall the fridge is good. It looks great and functions well. The biggest room for improvement would be the water dispenser. It takes way too long for water dispense after I press the button. Also, the button should be integrated into where you place your cup so you don't have to use two hands. The second thing I would improve is the top freezer drawer. It is a shorter drawer than the bottom one. I believe they did it so you don't have to move it every time to see the bottom one but I would prefer the extra storage.

I’m not sure what to think about this product as the original one I purchased only lasted a few months and then completely died. Fortunately, I had purchased an extended warranty and was able to have it replaced. Otherwise, my warranty began the day it was purchased, and it wasn’t installed until eight months later and I’m glad I got the extended so I could have it replaced. I like the look and the style and the size. It remains to be seen how this one will be on functionality.

The mark up on all refrigerators world wide by all companies must be astronomical because they truly haven't changed much in 60 years. The space inside the fridge is minimal. our old fridge/freezer held 2-3x the amount The roll out tray for our freezer came broken. I bought the Cafe Series fridge, stove and dishwasher. Love the dishwasher and stove, hate the fridge. It has low capacity. The fridge doors don’t open all the way, to 180°. They are hard to pull and you must open both doors to take out anything not on the door ahelves. The temp control (I have a thermometer) keeps it at 31°, no matter the setting. The freezer is small.

The shelving is not flexible enough it is not ergonomic. The position of the water spigot is terrible. It is too high and in a location that is difficult to reach on the inside left-hand side of the door. It is impossible to get a pitcher under it. The one wide drawer for deli items should be two separate drawers. The fact that you have to open the left side door first before the right is a pain. It’s fine

Overall, it’s fine. It gives us the most capacity for the dimensions, so we appreciate that. When it arrived it was incredibly loud, but we resolved that by tightening up the metal piece on the back. What I wish was better: -the stainless steel is not at all fingerprint resistant. My old fridge had a fingerprint resistant coating and I didn’t realize how important that was until I received this new fridge without it. -the water dispenser is too high up, and the button is above the spout so it takes 2 hands to refill. It’s also a harder push so even with a chair my kids can’t fill up their own cups. Because of the two handed fill, when we need to refill large things, such as our coffee reservoir, we are standing with both fridge doors wide open for a full minute or 2. It feels inefficient and just not well thought out.

It's a beautiful fridge. Performs well - for the most part. The issue is that the right hand door no longer lathes cleanly which can cause one of both doors to be ajar. And if I am not paying close attention or firmly closing the door (more effort than what typically goes into closing the door of a refrigerator) it will stay open and jeopardize the freshness of the food.

I am disappointed in a few important features. First, the doors do not automatically shut - this is a nuisance when you are carrying multiple items from the refrigerator. Secondly, the produce drawers are too shallow- they do not accommodate fresh produce - broccoli, etc. Thirdly, I miss doors that are magnetic and I cannot display my grandchildren’s artwork. Also fingerprints show up on the handles.

Pretty outside - expected sturdier quality inside

Overall, it is a beautiful appliance. That being said, at this price point - expected better quality. The CONS: *I opted for the internal water dispenser and the button for this is very difficult to press in. Even my husband finds it difficult. Hoping this becomes less stiff over time. Being right handed and the dispenser being on the left side, you have to open both doors to position your body in a stance to press the button hard enough to dispense water. *The bottom freezer drawer sounds squeaky and noisy as you open/close it, like ? plastic wheels will break - not even fully loaded. * None of the bins feel as sturdy as my old Whirlpool side by side. PROS: The digital door display is easy to read & user friendly. It is bright and well lit. Making ice without a hitch. I do love the width of the shelving the French Door model offers. Although not a CON, My Left French door appeared damaged on delivery, with an insulation leak from the top. My dealer immediately ordered another door. Therefore, I have not fully utilitzed the refrigerator storage until the door is replaced and cannot speak to how well the veg & meat drawers function.

Quality control needs work

First time to own a GE Cafe appliance. Somewhat disappointed even though it appears to work well. 1. The factory quality control is lacking. They sent out a door that had a ding/dent in it and had to be replaced. 2. The seal/gasket for the freezer door does not fit well. I looks to be loose and I have an appointment for the service tech. to come out an look at it. Freezer was frosted over and now has a layer of ice on all of the drawers etc. Also the lights in the freezer compartment don't work. For 1. GE replaced the door. That's good as they provided good customer service. For 2. I can't comment until the service tech arrives and gives me an assessment as to the problem and how it can be corrected. This topic was not addressed in the owners manual. Had to troubleshoot on my own.

Mediocre refrigerator. The first one that was delivered didn't work right out of the box. It was an annoying hassle to get it replaced until someone at the store called me back and finally was able to get the replacement done for me. Before that they wanted to fix the brand new refrigerator. The working one is ok. I feel like everything in it is not high qualify, which is not what I expected with the Cafe line. The water dispenser button is on top of the tube so you have to use 2 hands to fill anything. The shelves don't feel very high quality and neither do the drawers. Overall, the feel of this refrigerator is just mediocre and I was expecting more high quality.

If I could have seen this refrig, I would not have gotten it despite it's high ratings. I really DISLIKE the the water spout--not that's it's inside the door, that's great, but I have to hold a bottle or glass under a spout while using a finger to fill the bottle/glass. This seems like such old technology and I'm still wondering why? Most water fillers use pressure again a button--much easier. Also, where's a scooper for the ice? I miss it. Plus, I feel that the freezer is less deep than my previous freezers (also bottom ). I paid too much to trade this in and my income is not unlimited. But I wish I could have seen and touched it, but small rural communities do not always have that luxury.

All Café Models Do Not Have Cool UFO Lights

The primary reason I had purchased a Café brand was due to the unusual blue-white interior lighting (reminiscent of cool UFO-like illumination) that the floor model displayed at B&B Appliances in Surprise, AZ. Later, when my countertop-deep model (CWE23S2MJS1) was installed, I discovered that it did not include this interior lighting effect. I was deeply disappointed. !!!I had wrongly assumed that this beautiful interior lighting was a standard feature of all Café brand models!!! Therefore, I might suggest that any featured differences (such as the inclusion or exclusion of the beautiful interior lights) among Café models are prominently explained by the sales reps, in order to avoid customer disappointment. Additionally, the cost of the optional Café refrigerator door handles seems to be exorbitant. I would suggest that you would enjoy more sales if a customer could swap handles at a reasonable cost. Otherwise, my French 3-door model is quite nice, and operates as expected.

Quality build of drawers inside the refrigerator is vey poor. Looks like brown glue is showing through the plastic drawers. Very unsatisfied with this. One year warranty has passed, so I guess I am stuck with it. Everything else is good except this. Seems like the warranty should be longer than a year. This is obviously a build quality issue which I think should still be covered. I have photos but the add images feature does not work.

I have been extremely disappointed with this refrigerator and would advise anyone to avoid purchasing it to avoid the frustration our family has experiences. In the few years we've owned it the plastic folding tray broke, the lights stopped working, and now most recently and what catalyze me to write this review, is the bottom part of the long bar handle on one of the doors has come off completely. It's ridiculous - I thought this was a luxury kind of brand but it's the lowest quality refrigerator I've ever owned.

We received our fridge almost 3 weeks ago and it’s beautiful except for a manufacturing defect on the front door panel. It wasn’t obvious until we took the wrapping all off and therefore wasn’t able to return it. We are still waiting to hear from the Service Center so they can hopefully replace the door.

Small, loud, and rolls back and forth when I pull the freezer door sometimes. This is the worst fridge I’ve owned. It’s lacking in quality. The water tastes strange even after using an authentic filter, which hasn’t been exhausted.

Regrettable Purchase

I find the water spigot of special concern. It is difficult to push and only works if it is pushed on the right side of the rubber button, cuts off all the time, acts like it might have a twisted tube in that the flow is minimal. The doors are a problem too: hard to close,

Issues with temperatures

I honestly loved the refrigerator. The look and style matched my house style. Yet I haven’t had the refrigerator for a year and I’m having issues with the refrigerator and freezer not staying cool. The temperature is set 37 degrees for the fridge and freezer is 0 yet I get alerts on my phone over the refrigerator going over 50 degrees Fahrenheit and freezer over 20 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s still under my warranty yet this shouldn’t even be happening if it’s only been 6 months of having the item!

The capacity of this refrigerator is awful. I’m not sure why the depth of this appliance is so shallow. The drawer depths are also shallow. And then the gap under the lower long vegetable drawer doesn’t allow for anything to be stored but creates a cleaning nightmare.

Bottom Freezer Door Doesn't Close

Operates as expected except that the bottom freezer door does not close without slamming it several times. Did have serviceman come out; he replaced the side tracks saying that it wasn't "latching" properly. Then it worked well for 4 months. Same problem. I had to buy an extended warranty so that I can get this reoccurring issue corrected as necessary.

First cafe stopped working twice-only 2 years old. Needed a new compressor! Lost all our refrigerator and frozen foods!! It was replaced but we were told the new refrigerator would have NO warranty. Now we have another new Cafe Refrigerator that runs soo loud it annoys you!!! Brand new NO warranty!

Bought a brand new Cafe refrigerator and it is not cooling. I tried unplugging the fridge and tried resetting the controls and it doesn’t work. Such a pain to spend all this money to now have to spend additional money to fix it. Not a reliable product at all and super disappointed.

Ice maker is very slow in making ice. Can't keep up with a household of only 2 people. Recently the fridge has starting making noise when the compressor/fan is engaged. This fridge is only 11 months old!

Cafe series refrigerator part of builder gourmet kitchen package. 6-7 years old. Returned from vacation to find refrigerator @ 74 degrees, all food spoiled. The stench was awful. We spent the day cleaning it out, taking apart, cleaning with bleach, baking soda. 3 days later, still reeks. We had service person come out a couple of years ago to check an intermittent noise that sounded like an airplane taking off. Out of warranty, we are not going to try to fix and buying a different brand. Disappointed that GE is no longer a sign of quality.

The projection of the doors causes the refrigerator to have to be pulled out from counter depth in order to open the doors fully. It would be nice if the hinges allowed the doors to open without having to pull the refrigerator out so far. Also, the internal water dispenser is so difficult to push It requires two hands. Why is this button made such that it’s impossible to operate with just a finger??? The cooling is not great and the ice maker is way too slow. It took days to fill the ice bucket.

Poorly regulated temperature

Looks great but cannot be trusted to regulate temperature properly. This is our second one in 4 months as the first one was a lemon (or so we thought). We frequently have to move things to our outside 40 year old refrigerator as the temps get up to mid 50’s. A big disappointment and waste of money.

If I could give this zero stars I would. I bought this in the matte white 4 years ago and while visually it is quite stunning, the functionality of the refrigerator/freezer has been a complete nightmare. The refrigerator has now "died" on me for the 3rd time. The compressor dies about once a year shutting down the entire unit. I have gotten to know all the service people working for GE over the years. This should not be happening with a refrigerator at this price point. The first time it took well over a month to fix leaving my children and I using a small dorm fridge for that duration. The purchase of the dorm fridge and an ice maker were of course not covered by GE. In each instance, I had to throw EVERYTHING away. My service contract reimburses $200, however we all know that doesn't buy much these days. The 2nd time this happened was last Feb/march 2024 so it was cold enough to keep some food out on my deck in a cooler to start, however most items still had to get thrown away as the weather started to warm up. Now, less than 1 year later, the compressor has stopped working for a 3rd time. Everything started shutting down on Tuesday Jan. 14th, the service gentleman came on Thursday Jan 16th and told GE it wasn't worth fixing since the same problem keeps happening and it must be a bigger issue than the compressor. 5 days later I am still waiting for a phone call from GE to tell me how this will be resolved. I called yesterday and again at 8am this morning yet I have not heard from anyone. In addition to the faulty electrical work, most of the shelves, especially on the doors, cracked within a couple years. In addition the handles, which have a cheap coating on them, has started showing scratches. I completely regret buying this item.

This refrigerator was a replacement of the same model that failed after just over 2 years of use. The needed compressor was on back order for several weeks. Fortunately I had purchased an extended warranty that provided the replacement. It is good looking and quiet. Hopefully this one lasts longer than the first one. Only selected this model again because it matches our other appliances.

Freezer drawer squeaks really bad. Plastic gears/wheels are horrible. It squeaked really loud while empty. I figured maybe it had to be filled up. Filled it up and still squeaks. It's horrible. Sounds like cheap hardware. I don't think it is going to last. Very disappointed. For the price it should be made sturdier

Freezer stopped working in less than a year

So disappointed in this product. We had all new Cafe appliances installed with a remodel less than a year ago. The freezer suddenly stopped cooling. Took a week to get a repair person here, then another week to get a new electrical board. Problem still isn’t fixed. Why can’t anyone make a decent refrigerator any more? Don’t waste your money on this brand.

We have had nothing but problems since we purchased the fridge just over a year ago. After about 6 months, it stopped cooling. After multiple service calls, they ended up basically rebuilding the refrigerator. It worked for awhile. We have had it just over a year now and it's not cooling again! What is going on GE! We are being told we have to pay a service fee and whatever the cost may be to fix their faulty appliance since it is over the 1 year manufacturer warranty. Thid is very disappointing and upsetting given the cost of the appliance and the fact our kitchen was just redone to fit this specific refrigerator!! We will never buy another GE product again!

Was happy to pay the extra money for and good looking fridge to match the other Cafe appliances I have, but since taking delivery (1 month ago) I’ve had service here already twice. Product arrived with broken water line to the ice maker and I never thought it would be so much louder than the 25 year old GE Profile fridge that it replaced. Wish there was an option to replace with something else, but already paid too much for this one.

We bought this Cafe French Door Refrigerator to replace a 5 year old Cafe which need repairs every year. The freezer drawers squeak terribly. The top drawer was replaced and the drawer was quiet for two days. I have tried all of the suggested lubrication advice from GE and the drawers still squeak. I will call repair again but it seems to be design flaws involving the use of plastic rollers riding on the top plastic rail of the larger drawer.

Horrible refrigerator

This refrigerator had a major problem within six weeks of using it. First it deveiobed a heavy coating of frost in the freezer, then it defrosted completely, ruining everything in the freezer and a lot in the refrigerator. Then it began filling the freezer with water which of course froze, as well as flooding my floor. When I called for a warranty repair on a Saturday I was told (automated voice) were closed, try another time. When I finally got a real person they scheduled an appointment for 8 days later. As soon as it’s fixed I’m getting rid of it and buying one I can trust.

Avoid Cafe at all costs

Terrible. I have no other words. I had an issue with condensation in the fridge and frost in the freezer pretty much from day one. Long story short, over 2.5 years i had10+ service calls, the complete loss of everything in my freezer due to motor dying, countless calls and emails with no resolution other than the unit being deemed non repairable. GE eventually offered me a prorated discount on an new fridge, however, fun fact, I am a pretty large buyer of GE products for our apartment building portfolio and was offered a much better deal from one of our wholesalers. Regardless, it dies under warranty and i was not going to buy a new one so i began legal action. That worked and the unit was replaced. The new unit has frost in the freezer due to the freezer door not sealing properly. I am attempting to get that issue resolved but the time and money this has cost so far has me wary of any cafe appliances. Also my microwave and dishwasher in the same matched packaged both failed So while i have had good luck professionally with apartment grade appliances, the Cafe brand is something i would avoid at all costs Positive note, they do look great

Could love it a little more

I love the matte black finish and the handles. The ice maker works well in the freezer after 2 years so that is a big plus. But the freezer is much smaller then I realized in the store and the water dispenser inside the refrigerator is worthless. It requires both hands at an awkward position to hold the button with one hand while holding the glass up to the wall with the other. My 80+ year old mother cannot operate it, nor can my grandchildren. Our daughter tried to find an adapter that apparently works for other brands with a simple screw but we can not find anything for this brand. If anyone knows of an adapter for this, I would increase my rating to a 3 - maybe a 4 or a 5 if it came from a GE Rep.

QUIT WORKING

Great looking Fridge with good space for everything. Spent the money (and a lot of it) to have matching appliances after remodeling the kitchen. Fridge just stopped cooling. have left it plugged in while a local tech is trying to figure it out, since of course there are no factory technicians in my area, and every couple days the compressor will start working and it will cool right down. Then just stops working again. What a joke for customer service. Just over two years old on this fridge and not working and not sure how to fix it.
