Ignore Consumer Reports. It Sucks

This is a horrible refrigerator, and Frigidaire warranty service is worse. The gasket on the fruit drawer fell off on day two. Their repair person told me it was normal to have temperatures of 42f in a refrigerator when food safety information says 38f. I had to set it at 34f to keep around 38f. The water from the dispenser is never get good and cold. If you are in the market for a fridge, don’t pick this one. I picked it because of the Consumer Reports rating, and it fits the available space. . After several other bad picks I no longer trust the magazine. I gave 2 stars instead of one because it is one of few choices under 36 inches.

The list of negatives is long with this one. The temperature settings are awful; set it, and in a day or two the temperature setting will change itself to colder (until you notice and change it back). The top shelf is pretty useless unless you want your milk and juice frozen (the user manual even tells you to avoid putting anything near the cold air vent). I had to buy an extra shelf ($100) so I could use the middle of the fridge. The near-constant beep-sshhhh-rrrrrr noises aren't that bad, but are they really necessary? The user manual even has a section explaining what each sound means.The only reason I'm not giving this boat anchor a single star is because the refrigerator does keep things cool (sometimes TOO cool), and the freezer keeps them frozen. But that's it. It's about as user-friendly as Rubik's cube.

I replaced a similar Frigidaire side by side model with a new one after about 12 years of fine service. This new side by side is loaded with problems. The biggest one is that the water system and ice making system is AWFUL. First, they charge you a lot for replacement filter that do not even last as long as the old ones did. Second, if you don't replace the filter, you just can't have ice or water. "No Soup for you!"" Lastly, it is often the case that, even if you replace the filter, the system won't work. Very unreliable - particularly the icemaker.In addition, the plastic shelves are CHEAP. They crack with normal use. Garbage. Sad I bought this.
