Help!

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

Year 4 with this fridge and it been perfectly fine until today. This morning it semed that the bulb has burnt out. I replaced the bulb but still no light. In fact, the control panel lights are also not lit. It's been 24 hours and the fridge is still cold and the frozen food still seems to be frozen though we cannot recall hearing the fridge running at all today. Is there an internal fuse that needs replacing or what the heck has happened to this fridge?

My 17 year old fridge finally quit on me and I really wanted to find one that was just like my old one and I did! This Amana is actually better than my old one! I'm so happy I bought it.

Worth the wait

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

I got this about a month ago. I was without a good working refrigerator for at least 6 months before that. I thought I wanted one of those fancy fridges. This fridge has been wonderful. It has all the space I need plus more. The temp is great. I have had this thing completely empty and filled to the max and did not have to worry about things not getting cold or staying frozen. Plus it is a great size.

Amana To The Rescue

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

What do you do when you bought an old house with narrow doorways and you have searched and searched, but could not find a full size refrigerator to fit through a 30”doorway? Well, do not give up! I finally found exactly what what I was looking for, with all the features I wanted: stainless steel, a lot of compartments, quiet, and the perfect fit! Thank you, Amana!

Excelente equipo eléctrico-doméstico

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

Saludos.

No freezer light!

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

I decided to replace my current 35-year-old Amana refrigerator with a smaller Amana fridge. I'm hoping it's not going to die after 6-8 years like all of the newer appliances that are made today. I replaced the old fridge because it's not energy efficient like the new one. Plus, the seals were rusting. It still is going strong, though! I bought an ice maker and installed it. That was a challenge, but it is working. Of course, the instructions to install it only included how to replace an old one, not how to install it into a new refrigerator. Thank God for You Tube! I have one major complaint. There is no light in the freezer! Is this a thing now? Very disappointed after having a light in the old Amana freezer. Buyer beware!

Good basic refrigerator - very pleased

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I was looking for a basic, well made refrigerator without unnecessary features. It has a good design, and I find it easier to organize than my previous fancy fridge with French doors. I also like having the freezer on top. So far it is working well, runs quietly, keeps the food properly cold and looks nice in my kitchen.

Great medium garage fridge

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

For the price this is a great refrigerator. I bought it as a garage fridge. Easy to set up and works as a fridge and freezer should. Doors can be set of right or left open. Mine arrived as a left hand open. Bare bones and basic as far as what is included but the price was right and it fit in my garage space.

Normb · Sep 30, 2025

Amana

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

It is a nice refrigerator, however I noticed that the door seal is detached and I just purchased it in June. It's a large refrigerator, very spacious, and it's energy efficient which helps with the utilities. I purchased the brand Amana because Whirlpool owns the Amana home appliance brand. I love Whirlpool because they own some of their appliances in the United States.

Very good appliance

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

So far we are very pleased with the refrigerator. The only thing I wish it had is a 'deli' drawer; however, that is a very minor drawback. The manual, however, leaves a LOT to be desired. Instructions are not clear in some cases, and are not very thorough.

A WHITE refrigerator!

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

We had an Amana that served us very well for over 2 decades. We sought to replace it but could find no WHITE available in our city without a month or longer wait except the current model. We were pleased to get it at a modest price, but I wish it were a bit more like the one we had with the freezer at the bottom (with a light) rather than at the top without a light. We are adjusting but were warned it might serve for only 8-10 years. Long enough for us at age 85.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I wish it were a tad quieter. apparently new refrigerators won't last the 29 years my old one did. The feature of temp setting being digitized and now I'm able to throw lots of groceries in and switch the cooling and well whatever it is - don't care much for that. Just let me turn the dial or slider and be done with it. Low tech - worked for the last 29 years. I like the glass shelves and it's bright and roomy inside. Like the door pockets. like the door handle.

Decent quality refrigerator at a reasonable price!

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

Great, standard refrigerator. Layed out well. Works as required. However, when taking shelf retainers in door out of freezer (to remove the protective plastic film from shelf bars), the brackets did not fit back in correctly. I had to take a moto-tool to open slot cutouts in brackets from the backside to get brackets back in and not make a cosmetic mess of things.

New Amana refrigerator

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

I have had the refrigerator only for about 6 weeks. Overall, taking into account price and features, I am satisfied. The price was relatively low, an the refrigerator works well. Here is a list of pluses, that I have observed: Pluses: 1) low price 2) great capacity, for its size in bothe the freezer and refrigerator. 3) holds the humidity and temperature very well Minuses: 1) No deli drawer 2) no wheels makes for difficulty in moving 3) door can be hard to open. This may be because I am in Florida

Good fridge but be careful if swapping door swing

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

It has performed well as a good basic fridge. We swapped the door hinges to swing from the left side. That was OK to do. The issue is that the switch that turns on the inside fridge light is in the right door jamb. My son hit the switch when removing a larger pitcher of water. The switch broke, which caused a very extensive repair experience. (That is another story) I would highly suggest arranging the shelves to minimize the possibility of hitting that switch.

We bought this before Thanksgiving as a replacement to our 13 yr old model that was not cooling anymore. We love the way it looks in our kitchen. It was quick to setup with a small adjustment to the feet. It cooled quickly so we could begin using it.Very happy with the amount of space it has inside.

A very cool unit

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

Our office personnel bought this fridge/freezer jointly, which made the price perfect for the 10 of us. The refrigerator was cold within the first hour. We had ice in the ice tray shortly thereafter. Shelving is spacious. There have been no issues with storage or availability. This Amana unit meets the diverse refrigeration needs of 10 people, I'd say that's pretty cool. Highly recommended.

I had a Maytag refrigerator before and changed to Amana, I have trusted the brand Amana since my childhood. The one thing I miss is the drawer on the top shelf of the refrigerator where I put my cheese and meets in. I used the drawer from my old refrigerator and there is a little space between the depth of the drawer and the top shelf. The Maytag one had a shelf where you could change the drawer to either the right or left side of the shelf.

Good Basic Fridge

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

Overall, the fridge is exactly what I needed for my new place. Price point was perfect, especially considering how large this is compared to other fridges the same price. Still, some parts are a little janky: like the curved/kind of bulging top of the fridge (like a soda can with a little too much pressure), the doors being a bit misaligned when you switch the door swing, and the light switch being on the right wall instead of safely tucked on the inside top (already broke the switch once). But those are kind of small issues, considering the deal.

A cool refrigerator with a cold freezer!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I purchased my Amana refrigerator two months ago and I absolutely love it! it is black and it an Amana! It has glass shelves which really keep the food cold. It is spacious, and has a large freezer compartment. The price was affordable and I am eyeing a black stove to go with it. I am so excited and I hope you try an Amana too. It has good stroage compartments the little drawers are so cute, and I love the shelves for the pops and condiments. it has a cute little butter storage space with a door. I am so proud of my new refrigerator. I wish i could afford the stove it is Amana too and is black and will match my refrigerator. against hunter green walls it is gorgeous. It keeps the food cold and the vegetables are crisp . My cokes are very cold and the food in the freezer is frozen. The temperature guide is easy to set. I hope if you have a chance you will purchase an Amana for your next fridge. Amana you are great!

Good Price!

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

It is perfect for a basement or extra fridge. Wouldn't be good for a main refrigerator. It does it's job but the one problem is the ice cream stored on door of the freezer section is mushy. We don't keep anything on the door anymore. It is very strange as we are not opening and closing it a lot (as mentioned it's a second fridge for us) not sure why stuff on door doesn't stay frozen.

Mannella · Jan 22, 2022

Great fridge for the limited space in my kitchen

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

Overall, this is a great refrigerator. It would be even greater, for the price, to have added a drawer for lunch meats/cheeses to make it easier for storage. Also, the storage in the door would be even better if I was able to choose my configurations as not all jars come in small sizes.

2nd Amana after 27 years

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

Our new Amana has been working fine since we plugged it in. It is quieter than our previous Amana we decided to replace just to get a more efficient working refrigerator. The only glitch with the new one was the seal around the refrigerator door. It kept popping out of the slot. Agren Appliance, who we bought the refrigerator through, sent a repairman and in 30 mins problem solved. Amana should look into a different method of attaching the seal to the door. Freezer door seal was no problem.

We love the indented door handles the best.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

We have had our new Amana for two months and couldn't be happier with it. It is about the same size as our old one but has more room on the inside. We were surprised that it did not have a meat drawer but the other features outweigh the need for it. I hated having a handle on the fridge because they are hard to keep clean. The indented handle is th e perfect solution.

Roomy & Bright

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

This was purchased as a gift for me. My last fridge, freezer on the bottom, died. Although I prefer the freezer on the bottom, I really like this fridge. It's large and roomy with a clear, bright light and glass shelves so I have no problem seeing or finding everything in my fridge. The only thing missing is a meat & cheese drawer.

DjLaurieB · Jul 14, 2021

Lots of roomy door space

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I bought this fridge a few months ago and really like it. It has lots of space in the fridge, especially door space for condiments and I like the recessed handle. It keeps everything evenly cold in door and main fridge.

Sleek and modern looking!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I’ve had my new fridge for about 3 weeks and love it! The “no handles” doors present a sleek look without large handles protruding into my small kitchen space. The shelving is nice with deep glass shelves. I’ve been surprised at how much I can cram into the interior. I’m very happy with my choice of this Amanda top-freezer refrigerator.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I've had my fridge for 3 months and it's awesome. The reverse door made it so I could fit it in my kitchen. The bars on the inside of the door clip on and off for easy cleaning.

Perfect size for small places.

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

Met all of my needs, placed in my garage as a second refrigerator and keeps my beer cold, provides much needed extra space and there's plenty of room for both the Amana and my car.

We absolutely love our new fridge. It is so much bigger than our last one and doesn't leak as our old one did. It's roomy, with lots of storage and ample space. Love how quiet it is!!! We are very happy with our purchase. We also love that you can have the door open from whatever side suits your needs. Thank you!

My Amana

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

Nice quality & very roomy interior, but I would prefer a wire shelf in the freezer & that the shelves in the refrigerator be attached in the back. Also, the light switch in the refrigerator should be in the center of the unit & not on one side. Otherwise, everything else appears satisfactory at this point. Your customer, Alfred Grasso I would suggest that the unit have a factory installed ice maker for convenience sake.

I had another model refrigerator that I replaced this one with and I really love this new one. For a smaller refrigerator it has a lot of shelf space and the shelves are nice and deep. The ice maker I got with this fridge works great and I always have plenty of ice. The freezer is a good size also.

Functional but mildly irritating

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars

I’ve owned this model for a few weeks now. It does cool better than the 1980’s model I used to own but I have noticed some key issues with the design. First, the shelves are either too narrow or have too much flexibility as just having a gallon and a few other normal fridge items made the shelf fall off of the plastic ledge that the shelves rest on. There is no center support for the shelves so do *not* plan on storing very many dense items. If you play Skyrim or Fallout you should be able to use this fridge as it’s basically the same with inventory management.

Matt913 · Aug 19, 2025

Not sure why but the freezer does not appear to freeze the ice cream but the ice cream melts. It is put in the garage where for the most it is not conditioned air so not sure if that impacts the operation of the fridge/freezer but somewhat concerning that the freezer does not keep ice cream frozen. Would appreciate any suggestions to see if that can be improved. All settings are on normal.

Refrigerator

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars

When the refrigerator was delivered we let it sit and run for three day before we put anything in the freezer. Then we loaded the freezer with meat and other frozen item. When we went to get some frozen chicken out of the freezer and it was soft. We put a thermometer in the freezer and it was 20degress. We had to throw out everything in our freezer. Come to find out the setting was set wrong when delivered. The freezer still bounces from 20 degrees to zero degrees.

Glass shelves

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars

I use this fridge strictly as a backup so it’s rarely full. The problem is the glass shelves are too thin. They sag in the middle when supporting a 12 pack of beer. Seems too risky to add anything else. Wish they were thicker.

Jlaurn · Aug 23, 2022

Works but noisy

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars

It works as well as any freezer and refrigerator. Problem is the incessant noise. Ticking, tapping and the sound of a waterfall is seriously annoying. For the first month of ownership I moved it weekly thinking there was a leak because of the rushing water noise it makes every time I close the door. Whenever the compressor kicks in there is a cacophony of ticking and tapping that is so freaking annoying. I just moved in 2 months ago and all of my appliances are brand new Amana. The refrigerator is the only one that disappoints me. I don't have money to throw away but I'm thinking of getting rid of this brand new refrigerator just to get some peace and quiet. Also, the corners are sharp and I've cut my palm trying to open the door because the suction is too strong.

We are not happy with our refrigerator. If we set it at the recommended cold setting, things in the freezer start to get soft. One more green light the things in the back on the bottom shelf of refrigerator, like my grapes, soda, etc. It is not the fault of the seller or deliverer. Decent product !

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars

Amans fridge is good for the price ! I'd give it 4 STAR except for one problem that I never thought of asking before purchasing ! NO FREEZER LIGHT !!! I can't believe any company would build a refrigerator without a freezer light ! Not worth returning over that ! I bought a motion sensor light and set it up inside the freezer so it works fairly well!

Moe ! · Oct 1, 2021

Great refrigerator, but...

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars

We bought this refrigerator because our old Amana lasted 25 years and figured this one would hopefully last as long. The only problem is the refrig door seal. I've tried everything I can think of and I have to have the company I bought it at come and fix the seal so that it stays in when the door is open. The seal stays in place just fine when closed and keeps food cold like it should, but when you open the door, the seal starts to separate at the top corner by the handle. It will not shut tight if you don't reseat the seal.

It's okay. Sometimes noisey. Inside seems small

AJ Madison · 2 out of 5 stars

I bought this to fit in a restricted space where I had a broken fridge. It's a tiny bit wider, but it has less depth than my last fridge and fits a whole row less on some shelves. This Amana fridge also randomly makes noise and I don't have an ice maker. While it's not loud enough to be overbearing, it disturbs the peace and quiet. If I knew these things, I would've picked another option, but it changing fridges isn't easy. At least keeps everything cool and looks nice

Dave_ · Mar 18, 2025

Loud Compressor

AJ Madison · 2 out of 5 stars

This refrigerator works, but the compressor is louder than expected. Rather than a relatively constant hum/buzz while running, it sounds like gears starting and stopping. It doesn't drown out other things, but it's around 55-60 decibels (the sound level of normal conversation) and since it jumps in and out it can affect conversation in the kitchen while it's running. Overall, I guess it's fine but I wouldn't recommend it.

AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars

If this unit worked properly, it would be exactly what I am looking for: A no frills refrigerator. The freezer would keep my frozen food frozen and the fridge would keep my cold foods cold. Unfortunately, the fridge freezes everything. Even after the repair guy came and changed the computer and thermostats, it's still freezing my milk, cheese, eggs etc. Pretty gross when you go to pour milk on your cereal and it comes out chunky.

I bought this fridge 15 mos. ago and since then I have had 2 replacements and a service tech. (from Orlando Fl. 115mi. away) has been to my house at least 15 times to attempt repairs. He comes again this Tuesday. The problem is simple the temp. control on the fridge will not maintain a proper temp. either to cold/warm. Every time I call all I get is we'll send a service tech. out. A few times when I called the person I spoke to had some serious concerns about my problems but in the end it was like all the other times I called. We'll send out a tech.
