Perfection in a box

Have had this beauty in a box for over 2 months now. The interior exceeds the stunning exterior. The refrigerator works like a charm. I like it much better than my last fridge which was a Viking and only lasted 10 years.

Go Big, love the 48" Fridge!

We had a 36" Kitchenaid refrigerator in our old home which we loved, so when we built our new home, we chose a 48" Kitchenaid as an upgrade. So far, we love the size and beautiful interior.

Very sleek and modern!

Our 17-yr old 48” wide Viking refrigerator finally gave out. So, we decided to go with this lovely, large Kitchenaid refrigerator to fit into the custom cabinetry (that was built for the Viking, by the original owner of the house). The Kitchenaid model was more affordable than replacing with another 48” Viking. It’s working beautifully, so far - though we will be paying a hefty amount each month to pay it off. We believe it will be worth it - if the Kitchenaid lasts as long as the Viking did!

Overall Pretty Good

Good overall, but maybe lacks some of the fine detail that would make it feel high end great. Drawers cheap feeling, ice bin too large, edges and connections visable abd/or rough, top opening seems a little unfinished. Replaced Kenmore Elite 48” and seems cheaper built. It’s very quiet and seems to do well with food and moisture control.

We've had it for a month now and are pleased with everything. Ice maker was a bit slow to fill (5 days) but seems fine now. It replaced a similar 23 yr old model and the subtle changes are great!

Good but not flawless

This was a replacement for a 48’ kitchen aid fridge I loved and had for over 20 years. Love the grey interior and the new lighting. Fridge part and shelf configuration is definitely an improvement but freezer side seems smaller although I do like freezer drawers. You definitely hear when the ice making is on. Freezer also seems to have condensation issue that comes and goes. Overall it’s OK but for this price it should be flawless

The Best

We had to replace our old Kitchenaid and decided to replace it for a 48" Built in Side by Side panel ready. We purchased it directly on the website. We are enjoying it so much. We preferred it over the Sub Zero because it opens and closes easier and is better priced. Once the wooden panels and hardware were installed, it looked so elegant. In choosing the hardware for it, I chose 18" cast iron to match the cast iron knobs I had. The install of this unit can be challenging depending on your steps and entry area, but still very much worth it.

Fit and finish of this fridge is great, only complaint is that at this price point I would’ve expected more stainless steel in the door bin inserts and drawers. Still a better value than some other high end fridges but time will tell about reliability.

Beautiful product with modern design. I like the interior light gray color and lighting. Holds temperature perfectly so food storage is excellent. I love the small pull out tray/shelf - perfect for the small items like food cups, yogurts etc. Here's what I don't like: the ice drawer tends to overfill a bit and you get a few stray cubes outside the drawer. Also, drawer below below the slide out shelf often slides back in incorrectly and bumps the slide out shelf. I will be calling the service department to see if there is a fix for this.

We replaced our 27 y.o. SubZero. We were unable to get the same with matching custom wood cabinet faces. The KitchenAid is not as roomy both in the refrigerator. side or freezer. The ice drawer takes up too much room. The extra shelf with the track for the 9X12 pan and cookie sheet is a waste. It doesn’t fit when I need to allow for the space for large containers, e.g. milk, juice, wine bottles, etc. missing my SubZero, but this will make me buy less food and the ice maker works better than our SubZero (so far).

Noise Issue

This was a replacement for a refrigerator that wasn't repairable. I would give it 5 stars except that it has a very loud, intermittent hum. I am concerned that this will lead to a repair.

DOES NOT FREEZE

Kitchenaid side by side, 48 ch, has been good in keeping frig cold, BUT it DOES NOT freeze ice cream . It does freeze meats, makes ice, But disappointed it does NOT freeze any ice cream products.

Love the Fridge, Concerned About the Temp Display

Refrigerator is very nice on the inside - great lights and storage and crisper drawers. Makes ice like a champ. I don't, however, understand why KitchenAid writes such an incredibly poor manual that comes with the fridge. One thing that is of concern is the new display - instead of displaying the actual temp in the fridge, it displays what the fridge is set to. So your fridge could be set to 37 degrees and that is what the display shows - your fridge could actually be 45 degrees, but IT WON'T SHOW YOU THAT. How unhelpful (and dangerous) is that? I've never had a fridge with a digital display that doesn't show you the actual current temperature. The fridge has a couple of new special features of a marinating pan and an appetizer tray (I think) but the manual doesn't talk about these really or explain what they are. On the KitchenAid product page for these features, the videos don't work. It's weird how little marketing KitchenAid tries to do for their new designs. It could be so much better. And KitchenAid seems to be absolutely clueless.

Problems with temperature control

From the first few weeks we have had issues with keeping the unit cold on warm summer days. Works fine in the winter but anytime the indoor temp is over 80 the fridge sits around 50 (rather than 35). Should have spent the extra money for the SubZero

Is not flush - looks terrible.

This is not a true built in. Our installer and cabinet maker claim this is the way the fridge is meant to be. If so, this is horrible. Do not buy. Spend just a little more money and get a true panel front flush fridge.

This is the worst refrigerator, freezer I’ve ever had in my life of 61 years. Within 24 hours, my celery and lettuce is limp, and my cheese turns moldy within a week or two after opening the package.

Disappointed

The seals on this refrigerator are not good. When closing the door the freezer door opens. Warm air gets in the freezer. The crisper drawers freeze food and don’t operate independently. It’s disappointing for such an expensive refrigerator.

Light issue

Sounds Like a Semi

We selected several KitchenAid appliances for our new home and we are pleased with all of them except the 48” built-in refrigerator, KBSN708MPS. When the compressor is on it sounds like a semi is parked outside the house. This is our third KitchenAid 48” refrigerator - the first one lasted 23 years, the second one we enjoyed for a couple of years before selling our former home. Neither one sounded like our new refrigerator; if they had, we wouldn’t have bought another one. We had it checked out soon after moving in, September 2025, by an authorized appliance repair company and they said it was normal!?!? We have since learned that this new model is built differently – there is less insulation, supposedly because it’s better thermal insulation (definitely not for sound). And the plus for KitchenAid is that it makes the overall weight much less (about 66 pounds less) so they save on shipping costs. We are also disappointed that they couldn’t even attach KitchenAid logo emblem properly – it’s crooked (by a fraction, but still noticeable) and the repair technician that checked out the loudness advised not to pull it off as it might leave an outline when reattached. It’s sad to see company’s sacrificing quality for the bottom line. It will not make a difference if no one buys the product. We are seeing more negative reviews about how loud this refrigerator model is. We are requesting that KitchenAid find a solution to this loud noise issue and repair our refrigerator, until then, we cannot recommend this refrigerator. We look forward to KitchenAid’s response.

Poor sealing

I was very disappointed in this unit as I have now bought several different gaskets for it and it just will not seal and constantly increases the temperature because the fridge just does not close properly. Even had a custom-made gasket put on it and still no joy.

Disappointing

A bit disappointing. I had to wait 6 weeks to get it and then discovered that despite being the same width as my former Subzero refrigerator, the inside dimensions are awkward and small. For example, a 12 pack of soda cans will not fit lengthwise on a shelf. The ice maker takes up far too much space in the freezer section. There is a "marinating tray" that also takes up unnecessary space. The outside finish is fine, no fingerprints!

Freezer Develops Frost

Brand new and the freezer develops frost quite often on the shelves and panels. Technician said this is a known problem with this model. Great. The door seals as far as I can tell. But often there is frost inside. Not a good sign for the future......

Will not buy another KitchenAid

The day I put food on the top shelf it froze and burst a can and glass bottle sending kombucha and sparkling water down the back wall. I've blocked an area in front of vent to avoid freezing. Temps are at factory settings. When removing the plastic tape on drawers the black arrows leached onto the metal. I don't like that there is only one place to pull out the big drawer instead across the whole bar. Now I have be conscious of hand placement every time. The edges of the shelves are extremely sharp and have scratches to prove. I don't like the door closure. I have to push it closed instead of continuation of motion. It has a sound like an old phone ringing. About 2/day. Weird. All these issues I thought I paid to avoid at this price I'm sure I will not be buying another KitchenAid
