Very nice refrigerator/freezer.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Our 27 yr old Kitchen Aid died this spring costing more to fix than it was worth so we needed to buy a replacement. After going through our options, we ended up purchasing another KitchenAid French door bottom freezer. Other than the 2+ month wait without a main floor refrigerator/freezer we our now into our second week of ownership. I made the panels myself to match the other kitchen cabinets so was a little anxious that they would fit but slipped them into the trim pieces without ant problems and it looks great. Love the full width French doors as our old one was a side by side. Plenty of space and drawers in the fridge with great LED lighting. Freezer is fine but ice container is a little awkward to get to and some sliding shelves would have been a convenient way to get at frozen items. Otherwise, pleased so far with the purchase

Customer photo 1New fridge better than side by side
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
The space in the refrigeration is great. I do wish there was a butter compartment. The door squeaks and the repairman said he was not authorized to spray with silicone.the freezer is kind of dark and smaller than I expected. The drawer space is good in the refrigerator.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We bought this fridge 6.5 yrs ago and have had various small problems (squeaky door hinges, doors not sealing shut, led lights stop working) since the beginning until about a month ago when the freezer stopped working followed by the fridge a week later. The diagnosis is a leak in the coolant system and we have been told that this part is not replaceable and our fridge is totaled. The coolant system is under warranty however this model does not offer a replacement part and our request for a replacement fridge has not been approved, but rather 25% off a new fridge…is this reasonable? This has been so stressful!!!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Was without a fridge for 6 weeks due to pandemic closings but when my kitchen aide arrived I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Was concerned because my cabinet wood panels would not fit in any model so I bought stainless. Wish I had done this years ago. My kitchen is small unlike those in newer homes, and I have a French country vibe going on, but this refrigerator is GORGEOUS- roomy and can I say it again? GORGEOUS- Love it 10 out of 10. See for yourself

Custom panel refrigerator, looks great and works as intended. The doors are a little snappy and close on me very quickly. Not sure what to do about that.

Overall, the refrigerator is meeting our needs. The door squeaks, so that is unexpected for how much we paid for this refrigerator.

First one Lasted 20 years.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
We owned this model refrigerator for 20 years and when it failed we did not want to modify the cabinets so we purchased it again. Hopefully the new one works for 20 years too. The first one had a single door and we purchased a French door style. I think we prefer the single door. Additionally the doors spring squeaks something terrible after just 2 months. The instructions do not say, but there is a stop block at the top door hinge to limit the degrees of the door swing so it does not hit the cabinets or counter-top. The doors dent very easily so it is important to set these blocks right away. The "professional" installers had no idea about the door swing restrictors. I had to figure it out myself.

Extraordinary space in refrigerator.
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
I bought this refrigerator 1 month ago to replace another KitchenAid refrigerator of the same dimensions (side by side with water/ice dispenser in freezer door), which was 20 years old. We like the large storage in the refrigerator and convenience of a freezer drawer. One issue we have is there is not water dispenser in the refrigerator, which is no big deal as we have reverse osmosis faucet in the sink. The refrigerator looks great with the oak panel doors to match our cabinetry that were installed. The unit seems to be commercial grade, which should imply a long life.

Interior Lights

After 4 years of ownership one by one all the interior lights have gone dark. Replacing them has be FUN. But why would the manufacturer allow this to happen?? It is a nuisance.

Great Design
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This is my second Kitchen Aid refrigerator and even though I never saw a floor sample, I'm very impressed with the new design. Unlike my first one, the motor of the new fridge is hardly audible. The interior lighting is another power saving feature, the lights turn from dim to bright. The shelving and door built out give plenty of space as well as the freezer section.

Better than most
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
Thanks for asking. This is our 2nd KitchenAid. Previous was a side-by-side and we loved but redid our kitchen and added 5 new KA appliances. Our new refrigerator is the French Door. Several comments with it. First, the ice maker is most inconvenient. It is a real pain to get to for off/on. We have back issues and its a strain to get to the lever. Why don't you put it in the front with an easy on/off switch. We don't want a door ice dispenser!!! Also, the freezer does not look to have the same capacity as our side-by-side. Requires us to use the fridge in the garage more. Also, the full width drawer on the inside is poorly designed. Both outer doors need to be opened to get to. Impossible when arms are full. Would rather have a 2nd set of split drawers like the set above it. Also, when outer doors are closing, they often close with a loud bang, particularly the left door. Why not have a "soft" auto-closing system like our kitchen drawers? This will allow the doors to close softly and automatically. Would we buy again? Not sure. We are big fans of Kitchen Aid and would likely do a lot more researching with other brands. We have never had a French Door design before and will not get it again. Thanks for asking for our opinion.

Terrific refrigerator
AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
This refrigerator was installed almost 3wks ago. It replaced a 19yo kitchenaid which serviced us well. We’re so happy with the new as it fits into the same space as the old one, however has about a 15-20% more internal capacity, which is fantastic especially under these difficult times where we need to store more refrigerated items!!

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I bought this a few months ago and the freezer door had defects including sharp edges and a dented door. Sales company spoke to Kitchen Aid and I opted to get a new door rather than a different brand because I liked the style and inside of the fridge better than other brands. I received the new freezer door and I am quite happy so far.

We thoroughly enjoy all the features and benefits of this refrigerator. We ordered it as a panel-ready refrigerator and it looks AMAZING in our kitchen with matching panels to go with our kitchen cabinets. The interior of the refrigerator is roomy enough for two people.

Unit fits into space where previous unit was, Design sleek and glossy black finish is very attractive and does not show fingerprints. Layout OK but would prefer if vegetable drawer could be opened without having to open both refrigerator doors. Otherwise lots of useful space in very useful layout in both the refrigerator and freezer.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
Only had it for 2 weeks but everything is going well. I do like the shelving and lighting compared to our side by side that we replaced with the french door style. Getting used to the ice being on the bottom. I do think that the price is very high as it offers the same features as a non built in style.

Beautiful refrigerator!
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
It’s a beautiful refrigerator, and the platinum interior is elegant. Takes a while to get used to, because it’s much darker than a white interior. Hard to see bottom shelf of freezer. Higher held lit; there is no light at the bottom level. Less capacity than previous built-on. Bought extra door shelves to increase capacity.

Great Product, I would change a few things though.
AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars
I have been waiting to replace my old bottom mount single door K/A built-in for several years as I was waiting for the 36" wide french door model to arrive. So far it has been a good product, runs very quiet with no issues. Here are a few things I would recommend for changes or improvements: 1) The left side door when allowed to close on its own slams way too hard. I realize it needs a little boost to actuate the sealing plate between the doors, but this is a lot. The items in the door shelves bounce around and sound like they are going to break sometimes due the door closing speed. Some type of slow close dampener would be nice. 2) The freezer door takes what I think is an excessive amount of opening force to overcome the seals, once it has unsealed itself the door opens the rest of the way very easily. I could see where this would be a bigger issue with the elderly or handicapped. There should be an optional foot pedal operated lever that can give some initial assist when opening the freezer. 3) There is no way to shut off the icemaker, the operating manual says to lift a lever which does not exist in this model. 4) The control panel display only shows the SET values of the refrigerator and freezer compartments. My old unit showed the ACTUALl temperatures as well as the setpoints. I had to purchase a pair of thermometers for the two compartments to have the peace of mind of knowing that they are always at the proper temperature. 5) This is just a personal preference, but I would prefer a white interior instead of the gray. 6) There is no butter tray.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars
We bought this KitchenAid refrigerator to replace our 30 year old SubZero. I could not be happier with this purchase. I have read some of the reviews that have one or two stars and I just had to stand up for this great machine. This fridge is beautiful inside, and although I had to get used to the new design, I find this unit just as ample as my old one. The temp is steady and exactly spot on. The freezer keeps my frozen items perfect. I just love the black stainless color and with four grandchildren you cannot beg it to show a fingerprint, and after the 30 year old SubZero the silence is golden. If you are looking for a built in, you should try this one a try.

This is not a true “built-in” refrigerator. Cost the same as other high end built-ins but sticks out past the cabinet so door can open - does not have the swing out hinges. Paid way too much for such a oversight.

Customer photo 1French door refrigerator
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
Bought this as a replacement for an older failing Sub Zero. Unit works very nice but the shelves in the doors are very small. A lot of space is lost due to the width of the molded shelf mounts in the door and the mating ends on the individual shelves. The french door design also loses some storage space compared to a single refrigerator door.

I wish I had bought just the regular refrigerator instead of this built in (the only reason I purchased the built in was to replace the built in that was came with our home). on the positive side, the old builtin had apparently lasted for over 20 years; however, I do not anticipate that this newer one will last that long. This refrigerator does NOT seem to have as much space as the older model and the interior appears to be much "dimmer" (i.e., not well lighted, in my opinion). This model does not have a compartment designed for butter (no compartment has a cover that the older model did have). The freezer section in this newer model seems much smaller than the older model, and it too seems not well lighted. I would do further research if I had to buy again.

We have a smaller kitchen so we wanted a built in to save some space. We soon discovered that the freezer space is limited after emptying our old refrigerator. this was disappointing. Within the first few days the lights fell off the produce draw so we had to set up a service call. We are also surprised as to how hard the doors slam if you done hold them. Hopefully we wont have anymore issue going forward.

I replaced an older Sub-Zero fridge, and this unit fit in my cabinet hole perfectly. For the price, this is a great built in fridge. AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
Our previous side-by-side Kitchen Aid died after 17 years so we replaced with another Kitchen Aid. After 6 weeks, still trying to adjust to French Door design. Less room, particularly for fresh vegetables and fruit, is an issue so far. Veggie drawer only holds one pack of salad with small bag of carrots. Just making more trips to the store.

How do you spend so much $ & no egg or butter tray
AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars
I just had my Kitchen Aid black stainless built in refrigerator excitedly delivered. It does look beautiful. But for the price, Kitchen aid should include a butter tray, egg tray and freezer racks. The paperwork should include what trays come with the refrigerator, no where in the paperwork or website does it list parts included. The pictures make it seem like all the trays included. See picture.

AJ Madison · 1 out of 5 stars
We aren’t happy with our KitchenAid panel ready refrigerator. We bought this to replace our 24 year old SubZero. The shelf layout is bad. You have to open both doors to pull out the bottom drawer. That drawer should be split like the two above it. There isn’t nearly the shelf space that we had with our SubZero. We had to purchase the Kitchenaid handles separately. They are hideous looking. We returned them to get something more aesthetically pleasing. It is very quiet and the ice maker works well.

Customer photo 1Customer photo 2Customer photo 3Not what I expected in a Kitchenaid Appliance
AJ Madison · 2 out of 5 stars
I love Kitchenaid appliance - small appliance and major appliances. I just purchased a Kitchenaid induction cooktop (5 stars) for the same kitchen. In the recent past, I’ve purchased a duel fuel double oven range (a high quality machine) and a refrigerator/freezer for an apartment (which I like a lot, and it also has French doors). Now I have this very expensive, very large French door panel-ready refrigerator. This refrigerator is a HUGE disappointment. There were no photos of the interior available when we purchased it, so we had to rely on a floor model that was supposed to be very similar - it wasn’t. The available storage space is much less than anticipated (see photos). The produce compartments are miniscule. To open one of the produce doors you need to have both exterior doors open otherwise the drawer hits to door. The interior of the refrigerator is very shallow. Even the storage space on the insides of the doors is more limited than much smaller French door models we’ve had in other houses: I can’t even fit the butter container in the door because the holder is too narrow at the top and the container lid catches on it. I am also not a fan of the platinum interior - too dark. Were it to do all over again, I would select another refrigerator. I purchased this appliance because I have never been disappointed by Kitchenaid. The record is now broken.

Poor quality control. The evaporator is leaking water inside. Just is a sign of time maximizing profit over pride in craftsmanship. My first kitchen aid refrigerator that was replaced lasted 25 years. This is another Boeing story about American manufacturing. Trying to get it fixed.
