Freezer light

I love my new frig. The freezer is on top which I prefer and the light is a definite plus. The shelves in the door is perfect. I can’t say enough about how much I love it.

Nice Refrigerator

We only had room in our kitchen for three s style and size of refrigerator. However we were pleasantly surprised of the roominess compared to our previous one. Matches well with our other stainless steel appliances. The only negative we have is we needed the handle to be on the right side, which we got, but since the standard refrigerator has the handle on the left there was a hole in refrigerator door for the left side handle that they put a plug in. It is very unattractive and does not sit flush. Shouldn’t drill holes until you know what side handle is on.

This refrigerator meets and exceeds my expectations. It has plenty of room, and the clear glass shelves make "browsing" easier. This refrigerator stays consistently cold in both areas, no warm and cold spots. I love the lighting, it is easy on the eyes. Likewise, the freezer is very roomy, and the lighting is great. I am not so happy with the freezer door rails. They are set quite far from the shelves, and there is a substantial space. Packages of food (frozen veges, hotdog packages, frozen pasta bags, etc.) drop right through onto the floor. Still, this is a great refrigerator, and I am pleased with it.

Excellent Buy!

I've had this fridge for about a month now and I really like it! It's got ample of space and the storage features are very nice and convenient. In my personal opinion, this fridge is not loud at all. It cools and freezes very well, and since it's summer I've adjusted the temperature settings one above the recommended one. I'm totally happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient yet not too expensive fridge. PS: It looks great too! Since I wanted to organize my veggies and fruit a little more, I've added to small containers.

Yest fridge seems to meet our needs it replaced our older whirlpool . 1981 model still running just not cooling good enough all the time. Temperature fluctuate ed from 40- 50 degrees even though we kept coils clean and refrigerator had plenty of air circulation around it. I guess it was getting old.

I purchased this as a replacement for an LG that I had purchased and I didn't like the configuration on the inside, liked the Whirlpool better except for the door shelves in the freezer, LG's were better. Anyway, I would have liked a bigger refrigerator but apparently the one I got is the biggest you can get with the freezer on top. I had a french door with freezer on the bottom and didn't really care for it and had nothing but problems with the ice maker so went back to the freezer on top. Other than size I really like it!

However 2 complaints are: 1 - Refrigerator is very low so I have to bend down to reach inside to get things. 2 - Refrigerator temperature is difficult to read and the manual does not explain which way is a higher or lower temperature.

i've had this refrigerator for Only two weeks now, It's OK insurance company actually picked this one. I do not care for the fact that there's no graduated temperature control there's only three settings on the temperature normal put more cold for the freezer put more cold air to the refrigerator old-fashioned like through seven do not care for the shows in the freezer door that's where I used to always keep my small items this is going to be easier to clean because it's not like a solid piece of plastic it the horizontal shelf with a vertical shelf with just a horizontal bar cold things in but they don't touch so small things don't stay. And the icemaker sucks

A Great, Simple, No-Nonsense Refrigerator

I bought this three weeks ago and it has been running great. It definitely keeps the contents very cold at the recommended setting. The stainless-steel door is easy to clean fingerprints off of; just a little mild detergent on a damp microfiber towel rubbed in the direction of the grain gets rid of them. A great, simple, no-nonsense refrigerator.

The refrigerator keeps food very cold, even on the medium setting. Same with the freezer - on the medium setting items are frozen solid. Mostly plastic shelves, drawers, etc. I've gotten used to them. This unit replaced a 30 year old GE fridge. The older one was quieter. On a scale of 1 - 10 the GE had almost zero noise. I would rate the new unit at 1.5 out of 10. Can I hear it doing whatever it does, yes, somewhat. Is it overbearing...not at all. I would definitely buy this refrigerator again.

We are completely satisfied with the performance of our new refrigerator. We must admit though, the only drawback is ,when shutting the refrigerator door, you must make a conscious effort to be sure the door is closed. All other refrigerator's I've owned all that was required to close the door was a gentle nudge and the door would shut and seal itself. With this if you just nudge the door as we have in the past it won't close. Is it possible that it isn't balanced properly? Is it something that should have be checked on delivery? Nice, but the door handle breaks

We've had this refrigerator for seven years, now. Overall, I'm happy with its performance - it's quiet and has been reliable. The ONE thing that irks me though, is the use of plastic in the door handle. Both the original door handle AND a replacement handle have broken. (Not the handle itself, but the horizontal piece that attaches the top of the handle to the door.) Frankly, we are simply not hard on things and I believe this to be a design error. We have a second smaller Whirlpool refrigerator in our game room that, despite being a cheaper model, has held up beautifully.

I am verry happy with my new Whirlpool 21.3 cubic feet refrigerator. The compressor consuption is arround 70W, vs. 100W with the old Whirlpool 20.3 cubic feet refrigerator. In the de-frosting mode the power consumption is 170w vs. 335w in the old model. Great!

Bought this refrigerator about a month or so ago and had to have a replacement soon after I received it.. Water kept dripping down the back wall. However the replacement is doing the same thing. I found a puddle of water on the top shelf of fridge. Need to have a service man come and inspect it. This is not what I expect from a brand new fridge. Its obvious its cheaply made. Would not recommend this Whirlpool refrigerator.

This was actually provided free to me from Penelec's Warm program because my old fridge was using too much electricity. Same size and style as the old refrigerator. This one has bigger compartments on the door and has one more door shelf than the old one, so there's lots of room for condiments and jars. The only thing I don't like is that in the freezer the door shelf has too big a gap between the bottom and the front. A lot of things fall through the door shelf.

Relatively quiet operation-effecient

We have used mostly Whirlpool appliances since 1971 with zero problems. We moved from California in 2006 to Nevada with a 2004 Whirlpool washer and dryer, still working well when Nevada home sold in Febrfuary 2023, as were the 2006 Whirlpool refrigerator, dishwasher and stove. This whirlpool refrigerator came with a new house in New Mexico, as did the Whirlpool dishwasher, electric range and microwave. We would have preferred a larger model, but the builder offered no options. Only issue was the creaking noise when door opened/closed. Not a hinge lubrication issue, as the height adjust wheel assemblies in the front were the culprit. The noise was eliminated by lowering the front chassis onto hardwood blocks. Why not make a warranty claim? Good question. Trying to do so online, the system does not recognize model/serial number. Easier to do myself. When the frig needs to be moved forward to clean behind, a 13 mm socket will raise the chassis off the blocks. That issue and smaller size aside, it seems to be a good unit as of this date (July 2023) VERY annoying to be required to remove ad blockers to be able to post this review.

Happy so far- it does what we expected it to do. has lots of room and is fairly quiet. I am a bit disappointed because I have tried SEVERAL times to order an appropriate ice maker on the Whirlpool website with NO LUCK. Really???? I would think ordering a Whirlpool ice maker for a Whirlpool refrigerator on the Whirlpool site would be simple but always shows NOTHING when I look. Pretty poor in that respect!!!

So roomy!

Because of size constraints in my kitchen, there were not a lot of choices for a refrigerator. But I love what I chose. There is so much more room in both the refrigerator and freezer than in my prior side-by-side. Shelving is perfect. There are plenty of door bins, with several choices for position. My only negative is that the refrigerator hums a bit loud at times.

Roomier than I thought it would be

I purchased this as it could fit in my limited space and allow me to open my dishwasher. I do have to push the door in a little to make sure I can open the dishwasher. I like the size of the freezer, but I am disappointed that I don't have a filter to provide filtered water for the ice maker I had installed. I would like it to have a better seal around the doors as one night the freezer wasn't entirely closed (full freezer). Good room in the refrigerator as well. I would have liked 2 half shelves to change height. Not crazy about the door compartments as adjusting them is too limited.

Very Good Basic Refrigerator

After replacing a 10 month old defective GE fridge, this Whirlpool had a defective freezer light bulb. A local service ordered a bulb and I replaced it. It's a bit odd that both the freezer and fridge lights come on when either door is opened. I suppose it saves wire. I am looking for more drawer options. The refrigerator, though, cools and freezes very nicely.

Satisfying, nice replacement fridge

WRT511SZDW Is a nice smaller, above basic fridge. Great LED lighting with color just slightly on the blue side but not horrible. Door storage is copious with flexible bins. All bin plastic is on the thin side but gentle handling will help longevity. Our door seals fit tightly and temperature is nice and cold.but allow at least 3 days to adjust to your environment before adjusting up or down. Optional ice maker (W11517113) is great and super easy to install. Fridge is pre-plumbed. Smooth, shiny outside finish is attractive. Reasonable expectations with no nit-picking will aid enjoyment.

Very good refrigerator

I did a review on this already. Why do I have to do another one? Took many months to get the original refrigerator, and when it arrived it have a huge dent in the freezer door right out of the box. So it was taken back. Took a few more months to get a replacement, and it has a 6" diameter area caved in on the freezer door in the same place as the original refrigerator. It seems to work well, but am having trouble getting the correct temperature set in the freezer and refrigerator. Have it set a full notch above recommended setting to get it cold enough in one place, but can't get it cold enough in both places at the same time. Using a special thermometer for just that purpose. Would rather have shelves in refrigerator extend out more and shelves in door to not extend out as much. Very hard on a bad back trying to reach inside to get stuff even on the front of the shelves.

This refrigerator runs quiet and cools efficiently. We find the shelves a little hard to use--especially in the doors. They are designed for larger containers than we typically use, and, in the freezer, things like bags of frozen veggies slip around and threaten to fall through the cracks.

Bought in July. Cannot get it to cool water, tea, and soft drinks to a cold enough temp. All research says temp inside fridge should be 37, 38 degrees. Cannot get to cool below 40, unless turned to coldest setting. Then other foods freeze.

We purchased this fridge several months ago and are very happy with it. It’s deceptively large, strange wise, it hold so much. The shelves are drawers are great and easy to clean. The freezer is also spacious, my only critique is that the freezer door shelves have wide openings on the bottom so storing smaller things is an issue as they fall through the space. But all in all it’s not that big of an issue. Great purchase, good price and lots of storage. Very clean exterior design as well.

I replaced a 17 year old fridge with this one, so I’m hoping it’s much more energy efficient! I love the fact that it has a freezer light (maybe they all do now?) The sliding drawer is convenient, but somehow there’s not room for anything tall. A Gallon of milk literally only fits on the door shelf or in the middle shelf next to the sliding drawer, and height wise it barely my fits in that middle shelf by the drawer. I suspect if you were making a big meal like for the holidays, you may need to remove a shelf to fit taller items. I like the door storage. The outer with is actually wider than described, because the sides are a little curved, so it didn’t fit as I wanted in the area that measured to have an extra 1/2” around the fridge. One thing I noticed right away is it seems to run a lot. It is quiet which is nice! My electric bill didn’t go up, so I guess that’s okay!

Fits our needs

The unit is quiet. We like the light in the freezer. We only wish the shelves on the freezer door were slightly deeper. We were used to having a loaf of bread in that spot.

I was looking to replace my old style refrigerator with the same one. Of course they don't make it anymore since I've had it for over 20 years. I do not like the new side by side or bottom freezer styles. The market is saturated with those. I wanted an old school regular refrigerator. Well that's exactly what I got. My last one was a bit bigger than this one, but it's as close as I was going to get and I am more than happy with my choice. It is just what I wanted. Top freezer with large refrigerator space. Perfect. If you don't want bells and whistles.....go for it....room for food for those who still cook these days lol!

Everyone questions why I did not buy a French door refrigerator. I think this top freezer refrigerator has more capacity than those, and it is an excellent, honest refrigerator freezer. I use the freezer more than the refrigerator, so its top location is more convenient.

Our 15 plus years old Whirlpool frig started having a problem with the auto defrosting system and was putting water into the frig as it was freezing up the line to the tray underneath. So we needed to replace it, and since the previous Whirlpool frig had last so many years we decided to stick with the brand. This one is a little larger than the previous one, being deeper. Just doesn't have the manual ice cube trays which we will have to add.

The greatest refrigerator we have ever owned at a fabulous price! We love the wide shelves which make it easy to find places to store casseroles and wide trays. I used to spend 10 minutes rearranging containers and jars with my side-by-side. Not any more! I just put the leftovers in the fridge and in 30 seconds cleanup is done! Looks great and the height also allows a great fits underneath our kitchen cabinets where other models wouldn’t fit. We put an ice maker in.

Obviously, the hinges were never lubricated during the production process, which is something I did not expect from Whirlpool.

We bought this to replace a 29 year old Kitchenaid side by side we were using in our garage(it still worked great!, just time to move on!)I like the large capacity and openness of the top freezer design versus the side by side setup for storing beverages and overflow from our main fridge and bulk items. The refrigerator has nice glass shelves and 2 acrylic drawers, huge capacity for all of our beverages, and even has door bins large enough for gallon jugs of milk and water. Black finish is nice but not fingerprint resistant, which would be the only drawback, but definitely recommend.

I like the way the meat tray moves from side to side rather than taking up a whole shelf. I wish the top tray on the door had a barrier so things don't slide off of it. The door shelves in general seem to have more room. I'm hoping the more open design of the crisper trays keeps the lettuce from freezing. I'm glad this one doesn't have a water dispenser as that was pretty stupid. I'm glad I don't have to change the filters. Runs well, so far so good. Ask me in ten years. Last one only lasted nine.

I purchased this approximately one month ago, to replace my old GE. I love my new one! It doesn’t have the bells and whistles that some do, but it’s perfect. Drawers open and close easily, I love the sliding drawer for cheeses, and I can fit everything I need both in the refrigerator and freezer compartment. I love having a light in the freezer! It’s quiet and keeps all fruits and veggies just at the right temperature so they last longer! I would def recommend this model!!!

I bought this refrigerator for a condo so it is one of the "smaller" refrigerators out there. The capacity is fantastic! I was so pleased with the interior of this fridge. The door space holds so much more than my last fridge including wine bottles standing up. It also has a sliding drawer (slides left or right) on the upper shelf to allow for whatever size groceries you currently have. The two vegetable/fruit drawers have the humidity controls and they are also generous in size. I will be adding the ice maker soon so am very excited. Even though the outside looked plain in the pictures it is actually quite stylish with it's curved doors and handle. This was a great purchase for me!

We bought a high dollar stainless w ice and water 5 years ago. It just died. Our philosophy is now back to simple. This box is large, easy to clean, cools and freezes well. I bought my fridge 4 months ago. I did a lot of research on different styles prior to selecting this one. I wanted a fridge within my budget and one that was simple and would serve the purpose. I'm happy with the set up and style. It's well lit inside and I really like the glass shelves. However, I'm very disappointed that several times a week I have to wipe up water from the fridge's top shelf. The water appears to be dripping from the freezer area down onto the top shelf of the fridge. It's a bit of a pain now having to call for service after only 4 months.

I needed to purchase a new refrigerator and decided to downsize just a bit. Overall the main part of the refrigerator has plenty of space. The meat/cheese drawer could have been a bit bigger. That's the only thing in the refrigerator section needing more room. The freezer is small. I put shelves in to help me organize better, and it helped, but like I said I downsized. So I will continue to see what I can do to help me get that area working for me. Over all it is a good size for me. And I trust the Whirlpool name.

Plastic part of the handle does not last!!!!

Attractive but basic, w. some design issues

Your basic fridge - emphasis on basic. Outside design is attractive, performance is "does what a fridge should do", and availability of space is average, I'd say. Two definite design flaws are: 1) the open-bottom door racks in the freezer door, and 2) - the (cheap and weak) on/off switch for the refrigerator light (see picture), that protrudes like a fish-hook right on the side where you open the (left-hand) door, waiting to either ensnare an item being taken out of the fridge or the sleeve of an arm reaching into the fridge and then accidentally rip that switch right out of its socket. Unbelievable who came came up with that idea!

Not as good as our prior unit

We bought this unit to replace our previous Whirlpool refrigerator (18 years old). This one has about the same capacity we are just working out where we need to put each shelf. One problem we noticed is the refrigerator door. On the previous unit you could just give it a push and it would automatically close this unit doesn't do that unless you really shove it. Also the gasketing towards the top the door appears bowed and you need to lean on the door to make sure it is closed.

This item came with purchase of a new house. I had no choice in its style or type. It does cool and freeze, its stainless steel. It is fairly quiet in operation, but the freezer is on the top. That means for daily use you are constantly stooping over to reach items used. While the freezer which is long term storage is above and only opened for a single item or for ice. And like most designs today it is so deep that items get pushed to the back and 'lost' till they can spoil. While the machine me work the design is flawed in my opinion.

Could Be Better

It has been a week now that I had the top freezer refrigerator. The overall interior design of the shelves & space on the doors are very spacious for our use. The storage containers are wider than our previous Whirlpool (lasted 30 yrs) which means I am able to store all of our bottles of sauces, dressing, & jams. With the adjustable placement of the storage units, the door is able to hold tall bottles as well as wider jars like mayonaise. I am very pleased with the easy access to all these items (30+items). That being said wider storage on the door means less depth for the refrigerator shelves which are still sufficient for our use. There is plenty of space for leftover Rubbermaid stackable acrylic containers on the refrigerator shelves (two container deep). The two shelves in the freezer are well lit. I have the deli meat drawer along with 2 other deep door containers from the previous ref. in the freezer to keep my meat items separated and stacked without sliding and falling. There is still plenty of space next to these containers for other items. The two shelves on the freezer door definitely needs to be designed better. (Other reviews also mentioned this) The depth of the space from the door to the bar is about 5". The depth of the lip/shelf is only 2". So anything that isn't at least 4" wide will slip through the open space. To remedy that by creating a container like those for flatware/pencils to store my items. As mentioned in many other reviews, the vegetable bins and deli drawer are much thinner than the previous Whirlpool ref. The glass shelves are also thinner. This is not a complaint so far because nothing has cracked; it's just not as sturdy as before. Also, the glass shelf covering the vegetable bins doesn't reach the edge of the bin so there is a constant opening about 1/2 inch. (can't change humidity) There is one major complaint. There is only one temperature control for both the freezer & the refrigerator. There is an airflow control in the freezer. I left the temp. control setting as "recommended" & the air flow in the middle when I first got the refrig. With those 2 settings, it froze pretty much everything in the refrigerator and the bins. So, I adjusted the temp control to almost 2 ** and changed the airflow control to take less air from the freezer. The vegetables and leftover containers still froze, but the vegetable bins seemed okay. The persimmon pulp in the freezer was somewhat pliable, not solid. I didn't have any ice cream in the freezer to test. But will do so at a later date. So today, I adjusted the temp. control to 2** and left the airflow. I will check it at the end of the day. The overall design is satisfactory with small flaws that can be fixed. The functionality of the appliance temperature controls definitely needs some adjustment from the manufacturers. I will continue to review after I find the better setting for both the freezer and refrigerator which will freeze ice cream & not freeze items in the refrigerator.

I bought this sight unseen, actually had to order it and wait 3 months. It replaced a still working 22 year old Whirlpool. Not sure I would have bought it if I had checked it out or read some honest reviews. The fan runs almost constantly & the wife complains about the high-pitched noise. The storage on the freezer door is almost worthless because the gap between the 'shelf' and the retaining bar is so wide a Lean Cuisine falls through it onto the floor - terrible design. Still waiting to see what an Energy Star frig does to my electric bill.

Poor Handle Design

I bought this refrigerator in December 2023 and the refrigerator door handle broke in July. There are two adults in the household so the handle was not abused. Using plastic to attach the handle to the door is a poor design. Although the handle has been replaced under warranty with an OEM part by a certified Whirlpool repair company, the stainless steel handle on the refrigerator door does not match that on the freezer door. It is noticeably darker. I was told by Whirlpool that this is due to the variation in manufacturing plants. This is not acceptable. I purchased a Whirlpool appliance due to my past positive experience with the company.

Improve the quality

I bought this 2 weeks ago and am a little disappointed in the quality of the product. The temperature dial is not very well placed, after 2 days some of my produce froze on bottom shelf of ref. and could not find air control. The plastic used will never last. The shelf on freezer door is a poor design, the bags can easily fall thru the bottom. Both doors have to be pushed shut. My old GE lasted 22 years, I will be lucky to get 5 with this one. I taught Home and Careers for many years and have worked with a lot of ref, I guess I expected better quality for what I paid

Can't compare to older, better made, refrigerator.

I had a 21 year old Maytag refrigerator that was excellent. It was built with quality materials. Unfortunately I needed to replace it,and chose a Whirlpool. The new Whirlpool is built with flimsy plastic parts inside. The deli drawer slides out too easily and too far so that it fell off the track. The freezer door storage racks in the inside have such wide gaps that frozen foods that are stored there slip through and onto the floor. My old refrigerator had shelves that slid out for easy access. This new refrigerator does not.

Bad Freezer Seal

Our small kitchen could not accommodate a huge refrigerator. This was the best we saw of the medium sized ones. From the day of delivery, the freezer seal was not gripping well in the top front of the door. We had icicles, thawing icicles, refreezing ice and could not figure out why. Tried all the solutions recommended in the manual and the "helpline." Whirlpool agreed to have their local contractor come look at it under warranty. Contractor was very good & the serviceman fixed the bad seal by remolding the strip with a heat gun. It's now been a month and it is still a good seal. Clearly a manufacturing issue that was not done correctly. Personally, I don't like the new configuration with deep shelves/pockets in the door and shelves in the body of the fridge that cannot be deep enough to come out to the door. There's more bending over to find things. But they are in most all of the refrigerators now.

While the refrigerator works fine with no issues, the freezer shelf pulls out of the brackets connected to the wall enough to let the shelf bend. We had the new refrigerator looked at by a repair person and whirlpool decided to replace it. The new one has the same issue. Seems to be a design flaw.

Like an "old time" refrigerator

We purchased this refrigerator as a replacement for a 5 year old Kenmore bottom freezer frig that had an LG compressor with a component (the compressor valve) that was known to fail. This Whirlpool was basically all we could find that would work for us. We don't like the top freezer as we often are on our hands and knees to find something on the bottom two shelves (getting old is not fun), but it is what it is. Functionally, it is a bit noisy, about like our old 1995 version frig. It also has a primitive control system that uses a simple dial to "kind of" adjust the temperature in the freezer, which then, somehow adjusts the frig temp. The cold air from the freezer enters the frig behind the bottom shelf, so anything on that shelf near the back freezes. We've seen better systems in refrigerators built in the 1940's, honestly. All this said, it was available and is better than living out of coolers on the back deck, so we can't complain too much. Also, it bothers me that Whirlpool is constantly trying to sell us an extended warranty, for 3 years. If this sucker doesn't last 3 years we are going to be very disappointed. Our first frig (a GE) lasted 17 years. The Kenmore lasted 5 years. Now Whirlpool is basically telling us this one may not last more than a year. See a pattern? Whirlpool used to be the "gold standard" for refrigerators. Now we aren't too sure.

I bought this "American made" refrigerator because it fit into the space I had in my kitchen for a refrigerator. It's that simple. So far it works. It is bright inside. Plastic bins feel flimsy and are small. Freezer Door storage badly planned. Things fall through the large space at the bottom. It seems if I move the refrigerator shelves so the top shelf will take a 2 liter bottle, then I have very little space on shelves below that. Cannot adjust a half shelf, must adjust the full width. I just pray it will last more than just a few years, which is what the installer told me to hope for.

Design could have been better

I bought this unit because it was the only one that would fit into the current space in my kitchen without major rework. Some issues: 1) I can not raise the front high enough to cause the door to close by itself. 2) The refrigerator shelves are full width. Split shelves would make interior utilization much better. 3) the freezer door shelves have a large gap between the actual shelf and the shelf rail. This allows small items (margarine, butter, etc) to fall through. 4) My unit was ordered without an ice maker. It did not come with any ice trays.

We purchased the original one in February, but that came damaged so we had to wait a couple of weeks for a new one. Love the size , but we’ve already had to have a repair guy come out for loud rattling noise. It was quiet for a day and the noise is back. We will be calling again. Needless to say we listened to the repair guy and got the extended warranty!

Freezer frosting over drips water into bottom.

Hi, my model is older. It started making noise a few months ago. Like it was making really big ice cubes and dumping them inside the freezer. One thing to keep in mind. My model doesn't have an ice maker. Also, the gray section in the center of the freezer was icing up. Then, water starting dripping into the refrigerator compartment. So, I thought I found the solution on YouTube and cleaned out the drain pipe clogged with ice. I knew the pipe was open because I could hear water running into the drip pan below. For a few days, everything worked fine. But three days later, that gray panel is frosting over again, the freezer is making noises and water is dripping inside. Any tips?

We have went through 3 refrigerators in 5 years, this one was freezing stuff in our drawers already had to replace the temp control. Ice cubes come out to fast but adjusting, not the easiest for cleaning and I am a messy cook. I'm hoping this one being a whirlpool will hold out longer. i do like the looks and easy to clean outside. I still wish i would have purchased a larger one but don't want to spend the money again. 1st Whirlpool so fingers x'd. Others broke down after warranty ran out.

Frigerator seal problem.

The bottom seal between the door and refrigerator did not properly seal. This caused the freezer to ice up and the refrigerator did not cool. A service call was required and took several days before this problem could be corrected. We were not able to use the frig during the wait time for repair. Service man corrected the problem and the refrigerator seems to be now working just fine. We did have to throw out some items in our frig, to be on the safe side. Now that the problem is corrected, the frig is working fine. It was just another hassle to deal with.

Very Striking

I purchased this refrigerator a while back. It looks very nice in my kitchen and I love every aspect of it....except the finish on the doors. This finish mars very easily when wiped down. I found a microfiber towel works best to clean and dry it. The finish on the sides is wonderful. Wish the front had this same finish.

Refrigerator is too warm. 55 degrees F.

So according to the FDA the temperature in a refrigerator should be kept at below 40 degrees, so around 35 to 38 is normal. Mine is only 28 days old and it has never gone below 55 degrees. The freezer is around 5 degrees which is fine. Getting service or any sort of guidance from Whirlpool has been impossible.

RUST ON DOORS!!!!!!

Disappointing unit

Problems began 1 year after purchase when the freezer LED stopped working. A year later the freezer/refrigerator temps couldn't be balanced and a service call determined the Secure System (compressor, evaporator, condenser) was failing. Whirlpool refused any repair consideration with the unit being out of warranty. Poor quality control, and I will not replace with a Whirlpool product.

Whirlpool QC Issues

Three days after purchasing, I realized that the reason the freezer was frosting up, and that the fridge wasn't cooling, was that the the refrigerator door was warped, leaving a 1/4" gap across the bottom seal. The Whirlpool service technician that came out tried to heat and stretch the seal, but now has ordered a new door; says it should be delivered in 4 to 5 weeks. You be the judge.

Warranty Replacement has same and new issues

(1) because the door had to be reversed, the now exposed light switch on the side is subject to breaking (again, like the last one). Just because they tell you the door can be reversed doesn't mean the interior light switch can be switched to the other side as well. Lesson learned - the hard way. (2) the replacement (under warranty) refrigerator does not close automatically like the the previous one.

Issues with Temperature Control

If we maintain the temperature in the freezer at 0 degrees, the food in the refrigerator is frozen. if we increase the temperature in the refrigerator, the freezer is too warm. This is totally unacceptable. We have a technician coming next week to look at the problem

Appaling low quality

Bought this refrigerator to replace a 20 year old Whirlpool of the same size and configuration. Unfortunately we did not look at the fridge in the store, they did not have a floor model. But all our appliances over the years have been Whirlpool, we've liked them and always thought they had an edge on quality. Well, that has surely changed in a big way since we equipped our kitchen with Whirlpool appliances 20 years ago. When we opened this refrigerator to move the contents from the old one, we were appalled with the quality inside: all flimsy and cheapest materials, very thin shelves, exceptionally thin trim on the shelves, no trim on any of the door shelves. The shelves bow with any little weigh. Fruit drawers don't glide evenly. The freezer door storage rack has such a narrow bottom that it's useless for storage, everything falls through the huge gap. Freezer door was not level with fridge door, with a difference of a full 1/4"on the right side. Although following the printed instructions, we have not been able to fully make it level, still crooked. The old fridge had developed a couple of problems due to age but the quality and features had nothing to do with this one. We thought this refrigerator was expensive in comparison to others from other brands that we looked at and liked. Wanting to stick with Whirlpool led us to a really bad purchase but the problem is that we are stuck with this for the foreseeable future.

Bought this in April, Now December and replacing broken handle. Ergonomics are poorly designed. I am a 6'2 and everything is way low, Top shelf has a control panel running down the middle not allowing for tall bottles to placed there. you loose 4 inches of functional prime real-estate on the top shelf. There was not a floor modle to look at, but still i do not thik I would have noticed all these flaws till actually using it. I wanted something a little bigger then my 20 year old fridge, and I missit. Smaller but a whole lot more funtional and handles were mage of metal and did not break in 6 months. If I could buy another fridge I would.

Fridge has good space. It’s pretty deep. However since day one it’s had a lot of precipitation in the fridge portion. This has lead to excessive puddles almost daily. Additionally the freezer does not produce ice. Instead it has just poured water into the ice bin. Not an ideal start to a brand new appliance.

Poor quality

Purchased April 2022, now the unit will not cool. The freezer does not go below 40 degrees and the fridge is at 60. Whirlpool will not do any thing about this since it 3 months past warranty. There quality in components is very poor. Replaced the thermostat, starter relay and the bimetal switch. Will not purchase a whirlpool product again.

Whirlpool fridge

We just moved into a new home and I was so excited to have a brand new refrigerator! I shopped around for months and thought I had asked all the right questions and was so excited about this purchase. The compressor NEVER stops running and it is so LOUD!!! Also, it had spots on the stainless when it arrived. I clean it and the spots come back. Fingerprints are a constant battle too!
