Great upright freezer in the garage

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I replaced my chest freezer with the Frigidaire upright frost free freezer and I am loving it. I can see all the foods at a glance without bending down to search the food at the bottom. I found 6 bags of shrimp at the bottom. This will help me not to buy so many duplicates. This garage ready freezer is the perfect for me. I recommend to everyone who has a chest freezer.

Sleek Design

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

The sleek design of this freezer looks good in my garage. I just recently found out about “garage ready” freezers and hope it serves my needs for a long time to come. The only thing that prevented me from giving a five star review is the lack of adequate shelf spacing options and the sturdiness of the shelves.

Tim725 · Nov 16, 2025

A fantastic replacement for my chest freezer.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

This upright freezer is a replacement for my 14 year old chest freezer, which is still working. I had it moved to my basement. I wanted a freezer that I didn’t have to defrost on a regular basis. I also wanted a deep freezer that I didn’t have to dig through to find the item that I needed. With this upright freezer I can organize everything on shelves and know exactly where something is as soon as I open the door. No more digging around to the bottom any longer. This upright freezer fits every need that I have. It keeps everything deeply frozen without all of the ice crystal buildup that a chest freezer gets. The compressor is super quiet and sometimes I wonder if it’s even working. But there is a bright green light at the bottom of the freezer outside right underneath the door that lets me know that it is still keeping my food frozen until I need it. Plus I love having that bright green light to use as my night light in my mud room where the freezer is located.

This freezer fits perfectly in the space I have for it and the stainless finish matches our other appliances. We like the adjustable shelving and the abundant door storage. The quality seems to be very good and the extended warranty is nice to have.

Nice Freezer

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

This is our 2nd Frigidaire freezer. The 1st one we have had 20+ years and it's still running great. This new one is 16 cu ft and we put in the garage and just filled it with 1/4 beef and 1/2 a hog. It is almost to its capacity as you can see. I put an alarm on it to be on the safe side that sends an alarm to my cell if temp drops below a certain temp. I know 2 people that recently lost all their stuff due to power problems, so it's good idea!

Exactly What We Needed — Reliable, Quiet, and Garage‑Ready!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I’m absolutely thrilled with my new Frigidaire Upright Freezer (Model FFFU16F2VW). It’s the perfect size for our household and fits beautifully in the garage without taking up too much space. The moment we plugged it in, it cooled down quickly and has been rock‑solid ever since. What really impressed me is how garage‑ready this freezer truly is. Even with temperature swings in the garage, it keeps everything consistently frozen without working overtime. It runs quietly, the LED lighting is bright and makes it easy to see everything, and the shelves are sturdy and well‑designed for organizing bulk items. Another huge plus: this model is known for excellent temperature uniformity and strong performance during power outages, which gives me real peace of mind. It’s energy‑efficient, dependable, and just incredibly well‑built. Frigidaire really nailed it with this freezer. If you need extra storage and want something reliable, quiet, and truly garage‑ready, this model is a winner. Five stars without hesitation!

Stainless Steel Frost Free Freezer

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I love my new stainless steel frost free freezer. No more manually defrosting a small deep freezer chest. I have plenty of space for all of my items, no more toss all the items out of the small deep freezer chest to get the item off the bottom anymore. Absolutely love it.

Loving Our Freezer

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

Our new freezer is just what we needed. I love that it is an upright which makes it so much easier to store and find our frozen foods. I also love that I can freeze berries in a baking sheet before I move them into a bag for storage. Lots of room. Easy on my back. It is everything we need.

Homesteading · Apr 29, 2026

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

We like the external freezer is functioning indicator light that projects on to the floor. Our freezer is located in the basement so we appreciate the internal LED light as well. The door shelves are deep enough to store bags of frozen produce or entrees. We ended up purchasing metal basket to assist in shelf storage. This solved the problem of food sliding off the shelf when the door was opened.

We recently purchased a new Frigidaire upright freezer to replace the one we had for over 35 years. The new one has some features that we really like. More Than Expected...

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I expected to have more inner space than the old chest freezer and I surely got it! . I like the shelf arrangement - more open and spacious than expected! I like the additional shelves on the door to tuck small packs. I like that serial and model numbers are provided clearly and prominately inside. I like the unexpected green light assuring 'all is well' and as an added 'nightlight'. But this 'garage ready' FRIGIDAIRE holds a "commanding presence" in our Utility Room. Its sleek design, smooth surface and quietness are unexpectedly calming and pleasurable. Last, I love that it is truly frost free - as expected!

This freezer is a little larger than our 15 year old Frigidaire. The Stainless look is a nice touch. Not as shiny as a true stainless steel. Excellent upright freezer

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

The freezer is only about a week old, so it may be a little early to review. The freezer has a light on it underneath the front to let you know it is powered up. It has an led light that really illuminates the interior when you open the door. If you don't open the door very wide, you can let go of the door and it closes by itself. The door seal creates quite a suction so you have to pull the door quite hard to open compared to other freezers, but that is not a bad thing. The setting for the temperature is right on the money at the recommended setting for 0 degrees. Nothing bad to say about this. Hopefully it will last a long time. We only switched from our 20 year old chest freezer due to always having dig to the bottom and having food get freezer burned due to getting lost on the bottom. Hopefully this will last at least 20 years.

High-quality highly functional upright freezer, garage ready

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

This is an attractive relatively lightweight powerful and well laid out freezer for the garage and elsewhere. Out of the box it was easily installed, and when turned on, it was ready to accept food within 45 minutes. Because the purchase is recent I cannot comment upon durability. Based upon my initial evaluation, I would hardly recommend it.

I couldn’t be happier with my 16 Cu. Ft. Garage Ready Upright Freezer. It’s one of those rare appliances that quietly transforms your daily routine without demanding any attention. From the moment it was plugged in, it delivered steady, reliable performance—even in the fluctuating temperatures of my basement. The 16 cubic feet of storage feels incredibly roomy. The shelves are sturdy and well‑spaced, making organization a breeze. I can finally see everything at a glance instead of digging through a chest freezer like I’m on an archaeological expedition. The bright interior lighting, easy‑to‑use controls, and quick‑freeze capability all add up to a freezer that feels premium without the premium price tag. It’s clear that every detail was designed with the user in mind.

Great Garage Freezer

Love it! Holds so much in a clearly visible way! Door easy to grab. Good deep cut out to grab. No broken finger nails. If I could change one thing, I wish the temp dial was higher up. Hard to access if low shelf full. But there is so much space, shelves don’t need to be full. And it’s a small outside footprint. Fits well in small space!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great freezer. I hope it lasts a long time. I love the light and the door opening is perfect. This is a really nice unit. My quandary, this goes for all upright freezers from all brands is the 4 racks. Really it's about to be 2026 and we are still trying to make 4 racks work for storage. Maybe one day an appliance company will set them selves apart and offer a customizable shelving system

kelran · Dec 21, 2025

Works great, quiet, doesn't generate heat, freezes quickly

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

This freezer is big with wide shelves and slim door compartments. I will be using an organizer system soon because the amount this holds can quickly cause things to get lost. But it great. Gets to 0 quickly after closing the door. The door is big so the temp rises quickly. You don't want to leave it open long. We named him Frosty Snowington the third and he is now family. Lol

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

This freezer has exceeded our expectations so far. Wire shelves make it easy to stack our items and find what we are looking for. Being able to adjust the shelf size is a life safer for when my wife bakes large cakes. LED light and sound indicators give us peace of mind in case we leave the door ajar. Not too small, not too big

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

While I didn't need a 20 plus cubic foot freezer I also knew I didn't want a small 7 cu. ft chest freezer (which I despise chest freezers). This size is ideal for the overflow of my kitchen refrigerator / freezer items. Will be able to organize and keep track of food easily in this model.

New Frigidaire Upright freezer

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

Have purchased 2 GE uprights in last 10 years…both only lasted 3-4 years…compressor failure on both. So I’m trying Frigidaire brand this time and hope it has better longevity. I like the smaller footprint versus both of my previous GE Upright Freezers. And the interior is more functional in the Frigidaire brand. Also, like that, there is no handle sticking out. This well in our utility room.

Great Upright Freezer!

This is a great upright freezer with lots of space and perfect for my needs! The exterior design is very sleek and it's easy to wipe off fingerprints. The interior is spacious and the sturdy racks easily adjust to accommodate a variety of my storage needs. The power on indicator light and door ajar alarms are nice features. So glad that I bought it for my garage.

Really like our new 16 cubic ft upright freezer! It replaces a similar one we had for years, and I appreciate the improvements. Shelves are not as deep, so things are easier to find. Got this as additional freezer space for the basement and it's been working out very well. Set the dial to the middle and it has been holding at -6° on average. Doesn't make much noise at all, and the back, sides, & top are always cool to the touch, so this unit doesn't produce much heat while working. Set it and forget it

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

After 20 years, my old Woods upright garage freezer gave up the ghost, so it was time for a new one. I was surprised how quiet and smooth this 16 cu. ft. Frigidaire Freezer runs and I especially like the Factory Recommended Dial Setting that is a true set it and forget it. The Shelves are adjustable enough to maximize capacity and it holds just as much as the old 20 cu. ft. freezer did. The door opened in the opposite direction I needed, but it only took me 20 minutes to reverse it so it didn't hit the wall every time I opened it. Oh, did I mention how whisper quiet it is? Yes, it runs super quiet and the only way I know it's working is that the solid bright green LED light at the bottom is on. This Freezer is the real deal and it doesn't take up very much valuable space in the garage. Life is Good!! Thanks for your time, Claydog.

I never owned an upright , self defrosting , garage freezer. I had a small chest freezer that died after 3 years. AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

When our old freezer died we researched replacement models for a reliable freezer that had dimensions allowing it to be placed in our basement. This model was narrow enough to get into the basement. Great Compact & Upright Standalone Freezer

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

We've owned this for 2 weeks and are both very satisfied with the purchase! We own a 9 cu.ft. upright that has to be manually defrosted (tired of defrosting it). This small freezer has been in our immediate family since 1979 when it was purchased new at Sears. The Frigidaire 16 cu.ft. freezer has plenty of room for all needed in a 3 person home. It has a bright interior light AND a exterior light. The unit alarms if the door is open for longer than 10 minutes which we discovered while moving frozen items from the old to the new unit. Best of all: No Manual Defrosting anymore!!! 😆 We love it and will pass it on to other family members after our time is up on this earth. Thank you Frigidaire for making this affordable freezer. Your firm has been a part of the USA since before we were conceived.

Easy to orga

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

Our 16 cf Frigidaire upright frost free freezer is a blessing. Its well designed shelves make it easy to organize the frozen foods we like to keep on hand. We monitor the temperature and after opening the unit the temperature quickly returns to our chosen setting. I highly recommend this beautiful and useful freezer.

Shelf concerns

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

I love the size as we are a 2-member family and don't need much space. What I don't like is how flimsy the shelves are. They are not yet loaded and already bend a little. And because they sit on a ledge, not between "slides", they shift back and forth.

MagnoliaBlosso · Sep 18, 2025

Everything we wanted and expected

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

Our new freezer is a very good fit in our garage. The finish and function are high quality and we are hoping for the long life and durability that Frigidaire is famous for.

Gotta Love Frostless!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

What is not to love, frostless, inside lights and a special system that keeps the entire freezer the same temperature with no warm spots. And it's good to minus 12° in the garage. Just what I wanted! So much nicer than my old freezer that I constantly had to defrost.

Perfect size, quality freezer

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

We purchased this freezer in 2024 but had to dispose of it after we had a power failure while out of town. Now, we're repurchasing it - the exact freezer, because of the quality we feel it has. The size is perfect. It holds a lot, but not so big that you end up freezing and losing it inside. The fact that it is garage-ready is important. It's frost free, has a light to let you know that it's powered, and has a nice stainless look.

I make lots of soups, stews, marinara sauce, freeze fruit and veggies when they are at peak flavor and freeze. This allows for a nice rotation of meals. This freezer is the perfect size for us. It is in our finished basement.

This chest freezer is well designed with adjustable shelves, a bin at the bottom and convenient door shelving. The sturdy coated metal shelving allows for maximum air flow and freezing capability. This model as a recessed door handle at the side completing a smart and clean look. The16 cubic capacity is perfect for the average family.

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I've only had this a few weeks so time will tell. It is maintaining 0 degrees in a very hot garage. This freezer replaced a different brand that was only 2 years old and needed repairs costing more than the original price. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this freezer.

Nice looking freezer

AJ Madison · 4 out of 5 stars

Nice looking freezer. Works well but it does have some significant temperature swings. I have recorded -4 to 22 degrees F. Mostly it stays around 0 +- 4 degrees. Also, can be a bit overwhelmed if you put in a lot of non-frozen food. But you are warned not to do that in the user manual. Overall, I am happy with this freezer.

This is just what I was looking for!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I love my new upright, frost-free freezer! It's wonderful, with all of the shelves, the basket in the bottom, and the abundance of door shelves! It makes it so easy to place things in it and be able to go in and get what I'm looking for, without having to rearrange things. It's roomy and has lighting inside and outside (to show that it's working). These are wonderful features that weren't on my old Frigidaire freezer. (which was at least 20 years old when it quit working.) This is the perfect choice!

A Very Satisfied New Owner

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

The Frigidaire Freezer is a very good pride for all that it offers- such as alerts if power stops or if door is left open. .These alert are especially helpful since the unit is located in the basement and we otherwise would not be aware of a problem until it is too late to salvage the frozen food. Also, the many movable shelves allow many different items of all shapes to be easily stored. Finally, I am confident of its long lasting life because it bears the respected Frigidaire!

Love my Freezer

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

I replaced an old Kenmore freezer in my garage (from2007) 3 weeks ago. I really like the new freezer, I wish it had a "show temp" of freezer- but I went out and bought a temperature reader and it is zero or below. I do agree with some reviews that a "lip" on the shelf would be helpful, as things fall out. All else so far is AOK

Right freezer for our needs!

AJ Madison · 5 out of 5 stars

Before we purchased this freezer, we had 3 refrigerators all with freezers. I had to check all three of these freezes before I went to do my grocery shopping, which was a real pain! I had skipped checking them all last month and ended up with many duplicate items. This freezer is just right for organizing my frozen foods by type and expiration date. Plenty of shelf space and even door pockets.

This Frigidaire was such a good purchase. It is a great size for keeping extra frozen food. It has many shelves and even a basket on the bottom. The door offers shelves for food too. We have only had this freezer for a couple of weeks and are very satisfied with the space, features, and decent price!

Tall and Skinny

AJ Madison · 3 out of 5 stars

Though this unit has the same capacity as the one it replaced, this one is taller and narrower. For that reason, in order to accommodate the same amount of food, it has to be stacked--never a good practice. The unit also emanates a ray of green light from the bottom which gives the effect of a spaceship having landed in my kitchen. It works fine.

Didn't last

AJ Madison · 2 out of 5 stars

Loved this freezer until I didn't. Bought just over 3 years ago, and loved the features like interior light. Well a few days ago we heard it beeping. Just had the appliance repair guy say the compressor is shot, and isn't working. To replace it was going to be over 1150 dollars. Which is 30% more than what we paid for the thing brand new. There is no way a 3yr old freezer should be doa. Maybe you guys could try putting better parts in these things?

ThawedOutBecauseItBroke · Oct 9, 2025

Only lasted 3 years
