Uneven handles

The door handles were slightly uneven because the holes for them were off. Otherwise, this is a great refrigerator.

Great Refrigerator

Really too soon to know. Somewhat noisy but not a problem. Ice cubes clump together and ice falls out the back of the bin when opening. Other than those 2 things all is working as expected. Wish I could replace the white handles with stainless handles.

Decent Counter Depth Unit.

Looks very nice. Decent capacity for a counter depth model. The upper bin in the freezer doesn't "glide" in/out very well. Seems like that could be improved. My older fridge had a very smooth glide in and out. In general the upper freezer bin just worked much better. The fridge temp has more fluctuation than I'd like -- I have a thermometer sitting in central and undisturbed location and the temp varies a bit more than I'd expect...but overall if keeps things sufficiently cold. The light placement is meh -- it's easy to block light getting to lower shelves with things on upper shelves. Surely a few more strategically placed LED lights would be nice. Also a bit of Frost from opening the freezer often causes the freezer light switch to stick closed just a bit and the light may not come on in the freezer. Despite these issues.... so far I'm pretty happy with it. It's amazing what 3 inches less depth does though. It is limiting when you are used to plenty of space by a full depth unit.

Love counter depth!

Our kitchen needed more floor space and the standard size fridge had to go. This counter depth refrigerator is perfect. We do care for water and ice in the doo and like the ice tray in the freezer drawer. Shelves are adjustable and work with various storage options. It is easy to clean, no fingerprint stainless and looks amazing with our other whirlpool appliances.

We purchased this counter depth refrigerator last month for our kitchen renovation. It looks great and works perfect.The reason we only rated it 4 stars is because the plastic drawers seem cheap and fragile. Hopefully they will not crack with use! Another observation is the water dispenser.It should have been placed on the right side as the left door is the door with the additional traction making it harder to open. We open both sides to dispense water.

There’s a lot of humidity in our fridge. The plastic cover was extremely hard to take off. We still have a few place it’s still showing. We love the shelves and the space. We love the water inside the side of shelves easy for our grandchildren to use it.

Ovearall we like the configuration of the rerigerator /freezer. Lighting is a bit weak inside the fridge. The one thing that needs improvement is the closing of the double doors. If the right side door is closed, the left does not close on it's own. If you shut it hard enough to close, the right side jumps open. If the left side is closed, the right door closes on it's own.

Okay, but could be better

I am generally happy with this refrigerator, I think it was a good value for the price. The only issues that I have are with the icemaker and what I believe is unused space, The icemaker bin should have higher walls, since when getting ice,often cubes slip out of the bin and go below the shelving into the bottom of the freezer below the drawers and some just wind up outside on the floor. Spacing-wise, I am wondering why there are such gaps behind and below the bottom freezer drawers and the behind the shelves of the freezer. I have never had one that had these gaps, which in turn limit the capacity of what I can store in the unit.

The motor

The main thing I do not like about my new whirlpool refrigerator is that it makes this rattling noise when the motor start starts up. This goes on for about a minute and then it sounds like a normal refrigerator. I haven’t had time to find out if this is normal or not. Maybe you could tell me if this is what is expected?

new fridge

I like it very much because can easily see what is in it. I had another frig with top freezer but would forget things in it in back and had to just about stand on my head to see so would sit in chair because I am 72 and difficult to reach things. Also my old fridge even if I put veges in veges drawers would freeze . I had to keep them in front and could not put much due to freeze if near back of fridge or in drawers. I threw away a lot of frozen produce. So far this one great no freezing of veges with freezer being on bottom. It does not have as much freezer space as old one but at least not throwing away stuff. I have a small chest freezer in garage so it is ok. I really like the look of it. Ice maker works great and I like the water dispenser being inside. The old side by side I had twenty years or so ago maybe more the water on outside and always had to clean it water would drip and build up calcium.

After Seven Months....

It took a lot of research to find a black refrigerator to meet my space requirements that did not have an upper deck freezer and no water dispenser in the door. I wanted a clean look and had no need for a water hook up at all. This one arrived and had an easy installation process. I've waited seven months before I provided a review because I wanted to be sure everything continued to work fine. I am pleased to report that this model is quiet, maintains proper temp, the alarms work fine and there is plenty of space to meet my needs. There is a little slippage with the drawers as they move back and forth, but not a big deal. For the price this was a great buy. I am happy with it and have referred this model to others.

36-Inch Wide Counter-Depth French Door

Needed a counter-depth refrigerator that has plenty of usable room on the inside. This one seemed to hit the sweet spot for our use. We also have gotten where we prefer not to have water and ice through the door. This one's inside water spout fills a glass of water quickly. Much faster than any of our other through door water spouts.

Mea/Deli drawer is too small!

We bought this refrigerator about a month ago to replace a KitchenAid model that lasted about 8 years. It is fairly equivalent to the KitchenAid model except for the undersized Meat/Deli drawer. We are hoping it will last at least as long as the extended 5 year warranty we tacked on. I am old enough to remember when I was able to purchase refrigerators that lasted much longer. This unit seems a little noisier too, but as we are going deaf, that is not going to be an issue...

Unexpected crackling

The only issues I have with this unit, and admittedly I did not read all of the reviews, is with the Deli tray and right-side Veg. drawer. The Deli tray which spans the width of the unit cannot be opened without having both main doors open. Sacrifice to offset the size of the tray. Additionally, the right Veg drawer requires opening both doors because it is about an inch too wide for access through just the right door. Otherwise, this meets all of our requirements.

We got this refrigerator installed in our condo last month and I am very happy with the amount of room it has. I really like that the water dispenser is inside the fridge and not on the outside making the refrigerator look very clean and minimal from the front. It adds a nice aesthetic to our kitchen! The shelves go really deep and there is a lot of space in this refrigerator. The freezer is also spacious with a generous tray for ice making!

Missed the mark with the water dispenser

I bought this fridge a month ago. I liked the adjustable shelves and the deli tray. I don’t like that you need two hands to use the water dispenser . It would be better if the water button were under the dispenser spigot to allow you to push the button with the glass while holding it under the spigot, this would allow for one hand dispensing.

After returning the first one due to issues with the doors not being level, this one is perfect. The smudge proof finish is fantastic. The only issue, it is kind of noisy and buzzes every so often. I'm assuming its because I have the humidity control feature on.

Bought is a month ago because my GE Profile was 19 years old and we were being proactive. We had limitations as to what would fit in our space and through the entry door. The Whirlpool is a smaller frige and not quite as high end. We are adjusting the having less cubic feet. We find the plastic to be a bit flimsy. We do not use the water and ice maker so have nothing to say about that. It is good looking and looks great in our kitchen.

We received this refrigerator a month ago, and we are VERY pleased with it! Gives alot of space for a counter depth, and more than our previous counter depth did. It keeps things very cold as well. The stainless is easy to wipe off, unlike our last stainless fridge. Love it!

I bought this one to replace my 18 year old Amana that died. I decided to get a counter depth model this time so it wouldn't stick out as much. Didn't realize I would lose so much square footage with a few inches. The fridge space is fine, but the freezer space is quite small. The indoor water dispenser and ice maker work great. Still want to see if I can fit the rubber liners from the Amana door shelves in this one...they were a nice feature. This is my first stainless steel appliance and I love how it looks. Now to replace my other white appliances!

Should have spent more money…

Bit of some buyers regret. Evidently I stepped down from a previously owned KitchenAid model purchased 19 years ago. So much on the new Whirlpool just seems cheaper made. The stainless steel does not wrap around the edges of the doors anymore. More plastic. Shelves are less robust, with no more edge lips to stop spills. No butter compartment or soda can door shelf. The “wide” deli drawer of my older 20 cu ft model held twice as much. This became very obvious when transferring its contents to this new unit. Less usable space seems everywhere, especially in the already tiny bottom drawer freezer. Vegi/fruit Bins have no air seals and way too much wobble due to poor support track design. And also disappointing is the lack of any, at least documented, improvements in the Energy Efficiency stats over almost 2 decades. Good news is that so far (1 week) it is very quiet. And the outside handles are beautiful.

This is a beautiful refrigerator. It is taking some getting used to, with one long deli drawer, less space inside the fridge and more in the doors, as well as what seems less space in the freezer. I will need to work with it. I am leaving town for a few days and have not given enough time to this new appliance. But it is very elegant and not very noisy, it fills the space well.

Love counter depth but has less storage, naturally

The fridge area honestly is not bad, but when we moved freezer items over, we noticed that area was really small. We will get a freezer for the garage in the future to provide more space. Overall we like it.

Perfect for Smaller Kitchens

Let me just start by saying we have a tiny galley kitchen in an old house. We've had this fridge for about a month now, and I must say, I'm impressed. Our previous fridge was, I think, 12 years old so it was time to replace it. We went from an LG (which was a great fridge) to this, and I was a little apprehensive with having the water and ice dispenser inside as opposed to in the door. But I love the sleek design, and the water dispenses fast; I can fill up a 32oz cup in just a couple of seconds. And the ice tray, even though it takes up a lot of real estate in the freezer drawer, I'm glad for the almost never-ending ice supply. This is a great counter-depth fridge/freezer, very happy with the purchase!

I haven't figured out how to contain the ice maker. It makes a lot of ice and turns off, but when you open the top freezer drawer, it always drops a couple of cubes into the bottom of the freezer and they come sliding out onto the floor

There are very limited options for a white, counter depth French door refrigerator. Gladly, Whirlpool created this model. It has the ice maker in the freezer where it belongs and has a convenient water dispenser inside, on the side, where it belongs! Nice clean look and easy access inside. My only difficulty was going from a 32 cubic foot monster to this neat little model.

We've had it for a few weeks and so far so good. The water dispenser (inside the refrigerator) is not great - you have to put your cup/water bottle at an awkward angle and it still drips some water after you finish so I end up having to wipe it up every time. Also I got SUCH a hard sell to buy the extended warrantee when I called to register the refrigerator - they were practically like, it's not gonna last that long so you better buy the extended protection. But overall it's a good size, well organized, and has been fine so far.

I bought about 2 weeks ago 35.7 X counter depth. It is pretty great: large door bins, plenty of shelving (I even left one glass shelf out and made 2 short shelves. Still plenty of room in a 2,7 cu ft ( something like that). Like the distribution of space between the top 2 doors folding out and the freezer section below. I don't use the ice cube tray or water dispenser but they really don't occupy much space or give much back when you turn off the ice machine (hooked up but turned off). Only 2negative comments would be: 1. Fridge light is rather dim - think they need one more light in middle. 2. Refer wide shelf in middle requires opening both doors to get in. Why not split the lid that you have to open. Or make 2 drawers for 2 doors.

I did not realize how cold a refrigerator should be. I don't care for the drinking water source on the left side of the refrigerator's interior frame. More storage is available due to its placement. I installed a food grade .25" silicon rubber hose onto the water's spout which allows me to easily fill different containers. The water tastes excellent coming from the filter. The refrigerator has well designed compartments for food, condiments and the freezer is a nice size for a cabinet depth refrigerator.

Losing ice cubes in the back of freezer

The only option I can see is turning the ice maker off BEFORE the bin is full and remembering to turn it back on in anticipation of needing more ice.

I have always trusted Whirlpool rerigerators but after reading reviews, it was noted that they were loud. I am very happy to report that the refrigerator is very quiet except for the water coming in to fill the ice maker but that is only a few seconds. I bought the counter depth and is perfect for my location. The only negative is that the freezer section is pretty small because of the depth. Overall, I am very happy with my choice.

I got this refrigerator as a replacement for another model that didn’t work in my house. I like the refrigerator but it does take time to work with a smaller unit. Two issues the doors dont line up they are a 1/4 off and no adjustment. The other issue which doesn’t affect anything is that there is no company name on the refrigerator. This doesn’t affect the refrigerator at all but it makes me wonder what other corners they cut.

Hums annoyingly when running.

Overall we are very happy with the features and performance of our new refrigerator. However, it has started to hum fairly loudly when running. It was not doing this at first, but now is quite noticeable and annoying. I have eliminated it touching the wall or cabinetry and conclude it is the compressor or fan. If it continues we will need to have a tech look at it. It is loud enough for us to hear from another room, and our hearing is not great.

Disappointed in this model

I loved my last whirlpool refrigerator. It was perfect. I wanted to buy the same one when I relocated and it wasn’t available. I ended up with a fridge that is counter depth, and it is so tiny. But more importantly, the deli drawer of the fruit and vegetable drawer have these little rollers that are so cheap and sound that way it’s rocking when you try to pull them out it doesn’t feel sturdy. I paid more for this model than I did my other one yet. It feels cheaper. The items in the door don’t get very cold and I’ve turned the The fridge up by 1° and I’m still not getting the coldness that I would expect or had in the last refrigerator

The bad: I've had this refrigerator for about a week now, so these opinions are first impressions. Loud: This refrigerator is way louder than my previous refrigerator when it runs. I feel like I'm going to get used to it, but will take some time. Louder: The solenoid valve that opens to fill the ice maker is LOUD. This is the worst thing about the refrigerator so far. This is annoying. Freezer size: This was smaller than expected, but acceptable. The Good: Fit and finish seem good. I love that the temperature has a dispay to show where it is and where it's set. The refrigerator portion is a really good size, despite this being a counter depth unit. Overall: I'm not sure that I'd buy this refrigerator again if I could go back in time. It does everything pretty well. But did I mention that it was loud?

Confusing door bins

I replaced a Bosch 800 Series when it was deemed too costly to repair after only 6 years. This time I decided to go back to Whirlpool which as a brand I have had before that was trouble free. Overall it’s a good looking appliance that does a great job of keeping foods cold and making mounds of ice. The only complaint are the crisper drawers. They flop around like there are no drawer guides. Very cheap looking and annoying to use.

I owned a Kenmore Elite french door model before; unfortunately, this Whirlpool is not the quality that the Kenmore Elite model was. It doesn't have a dedicated butter keeper. There is only one light inside the cabinet The Kenmore had lights all down the sides. The drawers move around, instead of firmly sitting on drawer glides.

Warnings Too Quit and Take Too Long To Start

We've had the frig for a month now and there are a few things we wish it did better. First off, the dors don't feel like they close and so we have to remember to push on them to be sure they are closed. We forgot once and the temp in the freezer got to 18 degrees before we returned home and heard the quit temp warning chime. This might have been avoided if the door open warning chime happened sooner than five minutes - two minutes would be much better. We do like the ice maker and water dispenser that is not in the door.

The plastic drawers in the Fridge are flemzy. The deli drawer is cut off in the back to accommodate the water cooler limits alot of storage. Instructions/manual were very vague . Doors are out of alignment so read the manual on how to adjust. There is no adjuster hex screws on the bottom hinges as the manual states.

ICEMAKER

The icemaking feature is inadequate and it makes ice very, very slowly and I am disappointed with that feature. Has a few other features that I find are pretty small. I was restricted as to what size to purchase due to the opening for the refrigerator but those are the items that come to mind.

Works well enough so far. I had to turn the ice maker off (didn't want on in the first place) because I don't use a lot of ice and it seemed to keep making it and it spilled over into my freezer drawer. Also the design of how you open the drawers is counterintuitive. The opening on the drawer where you place your fingers to pull is facing upward and open instead of open from the bottom. (Think U design instead of n design), Otherwise everything else seems to work just fine.

The quality is not the same as the Kitchen Aid (same size and style) that this refrig replaced. The trays and shelving are of poor quality and missing butter tray etc.

This refrigerator is the same dimensions as our old one but has about half as much interior space as the last one in both the fridge and freezer. I’m having. Very hard time making it work.

Counter Depth Refrigerator

The Whirlpool 36" wide Counter-Depth French Door Bottom Mount Refrigerator-20 cu. ft. is a very nice refrigerator. It looks great in my kitchen. The only drawback is the interior size is tiny. Difficult to store my normal sized jars as the shelf space is tiny and not tall enough. The freezer area is also small. Will have to adjust to the limited storage space. We went from a full sized counter depth refrigerator to the Whirlpool. Gauge your needs before purchasing this Whirlpool Refrigerator. Nice to look at but compromised interior storage space.

I bought this a few weeks ago. I have 2 complaints. 1, had to put something under the wheels because every time I opened the door, it would move. The installer said when it was filled it would stop but it did not. 2. Every time I open the left hand door the right door slightly opens. Due to the water being on the left inside of the fridge,opening the left door is a necessity

Shrinkflation hits appliances.

This is the cheapest fridge I have ever had. The lighting is substandard the drawers feel cheap. The way the drawers collide with the doors is not well thought out. I have an analogue thermometer in place, and it rarely shows below 40 degrees although I have the temp set at 34. The open-door chime doesn't work although I clearly have it turned on. The only reason I have not made an attempt to return it is that my wife is ok with it and I don't want to upset her. I feel victim of shrinkflation, everything made now adays seems to get by with terrible quality.

Needs improvement

I bought this about a month ago and am just ok with our puchase. It functions well, but is quite loud when the compressor is running. Also, the ice maker fills the drawer so full that ice will usually hit the ice maker depth rod and spill ice out, which is a feature that could be improved. All of the drawers don't seem to open like they are on their own tracks, but very loosly, which almost feels like something is broken, which is another feature that could be improved. The stainless steel finish, although fingerprint resistant has quite a grainy look compared to other stainless steel finishes which to me gives it a more industrial look.

DEFECTIVE REFRIGERATOR!

If I could have given a worst rating of this refrigerator I would have. After only 2 weeks of having this new refrigerator everything in the freezer was melted and the food in refrigerator was not cold. We had to have the whirlpool service worker come. He had to order two electronic boards since the ones in the Refrigerator were defective. We want a new refrigerator but appliance store told us we cannot get a new one so we are stuck with a defective refrigerator and waiting to get the new parts!

Disappointing inside

The best feature of this refrigerator is that it keeps running and cooling - so far. it is less than a year old. Compared to my former refrigerator that is progress because that one had a compressor that got weak and died after 9 years The disappointment compared to my older fridge is with the inside design of the fridge: There seems to be little space for it's size and items in the fridge are hard to find. The water spout inside a fridge looks like an afterthought because I need two hands to retrieve the water. The source of the water is visible in the backwall inside and causes the shelves to not touch the back wall, means there is a gap between the shelves and the back wall that is big enough for items to fall down and it also means loss of area for items. The closing of the doors is tricky. It is hard to be sure that it is properly closed. One door makes a big noise when opening. The refrigerator sweats easily and the button for that does not help much. If have never seen that before. In short the interior of the fridge is clumsy and needs to be totally revamped. It seems to me that after having a solid compressor/ running base, the company should invest heavily in the interior design of the refrigerator. At this point, someone who wants to buy a refrigerator has to decide between one with a strong motor/compressor and and one with a cool, practical interior/shelf design. What if those two features came together? The company that could to that will be on top of the market.

So Far I am Not Impressed

It is much smaller than my previous refrigerator. It is noisy. There is a lot of plastic. A support rod that holds the top freezer basket popped out of its base. Was difficult to reattach.

It'll do, but nothing amazing

It will keep your foods cold as the most basic function. Wouldn't buy again. The items in the back of the fridge wind up being partially frozen. The sounds it makes are so annoying and loud. Our fridge went out and we had to get something in our budget at the time...but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for...it's truly a budget fridge. As soon as our budget allows will be purchasing something else that's better

Ice Maker Loud

Bought this in February. Noticed immediately that the ice maker is extremely loud when filling up. Had to turn it off. Embarrassing when there’s company for dinner. Called Support and they said it was ‘normal’. Ridiculous. The doors are also not aligned properly. We’ve tried to do what the book says to remedy that, but there’s no hole to adjust it. When it was delivered (by Home Depot’s contractor), they set it up quickly but there’s still tiny bits of plastic wrapping in areas that’s hard to get out. And the logo practically ripped off the other day when I was wiping it down. Really cheap. We had a Whirlpool for 21 years before this one and the quality of what we had was 100 times better.

poor door alignment

Doors could not be aligned, and they were off by 1/4 inch. Local dealer brought in another unit to replace the original unit. Poor quality craftmanship out the factory. second unit was aligned correctly. Local independent dealer was great to work with

Ongoing Failure of Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Make

January 2026, the refrigerator stopped producing ice. Since that time, Whirlpool has sent technicians to my home six separate times in an attempt to repair the unit. Despite these visits, the ice maker still does not function.

No the new one on the outside had the same look which is great ... but the inside was reduced in quality, the shelves were a cheaper plastic very disappointed.

The water dispenser valve in the new refrigerator is not working. The parts are not available and have been ordered, with a lead time of 3–4 days for the technician to return. I would suggest implementing stronger quality checks during production to help prevent such issues in new refrigerators at the start.

Bad design

The design is awful! The water dispenser should have been on the right side. That way, you wouldn’t have to open both doors to get water. Plus the water filter should have been on the left side closer to the back since it hangs down. The light fixture hangs down too low. To move the shelves down you lose space that is already tight. I have to have a counter-depth refrigerator because of the design of my kitchen.

Buyer BEWARE... if you are looking for CUBED Shaped Ice, this refrigerator makes CRESCENT shaped ice. I bought this item (WRFC2036RZ) based on Whirlpool stating online it FEATURED CUBED ICE. I called to see if they would replace the icemaker and was told they would not.
