Gathering the reviews
We continuously collect owner reviews and public discussions from major retailers and community forums, de-duplicate them, and set aside anything we can’t tie to a verified purchase.
Calculating the average
Averaged across every source we found (Amazon, AJ Madison, and other retailers). Each source counts in proportion to how many ratings it has, so a store with thousands of reviews moves the number more than one with only a handful.

“Some reviews on this icemaker are critical of excess noise. This unit makes virtually no noise and great ice. With only 24 inches of depth under my counter, I needed the shorter depth of this GE unit to fit. Installation was seamless. I highly recommend it without reservation.”
Owners Answer
The questions shoppers ask, answered from real owner reviews and discussions across the web — not the manufacturer spec sheet.
What type of ice does this machine make?Based on 7 owner mentions
This ice maker produces nugget ice (also called chewable or soft ice), which reviewers consistently praise for its texture and quality. The ice is small, crunchy, and soft enough to chew safely, making it popular with families and those who prefer this style over traditional cube ice.
How much counter space does this ice maker require?Based on 1 owner mention
This unit measures 14.9 inches wide, 34.1 inches tall, and 22.8 inches deep, making it compact enough to fit under most counters. One reviewer with only 24 inches of depth available confirmed it fits comfortably in tight spaces.
Is installation straightforward?Based on 4 owner mentions
Most reviewers report that installation is easy and seamless, whether done professionally or as a DIY project. However, one reviewer noted that the water pump must be ordered separately and is not included in the standard package, so confirm all components are included before installation begins.
How quiet is this ice maker?Based on 3 owner mentions
Most reviewers report the machine operates very quietly or makes virtually no noise. One reviewer specifically noted it makes 'virtually no noise,' and another praised it as 'small and quiet.' However, a couple of reviewers mentioned the ice maker and pump can be noisy, so noise levels may vary by unit or installation.
How much ice does it produce?Based on 4 owner mentions
Reviewers consistently report that this machine produces plentiful ice and keeps up well with heavy use, including at parties. One owner noted it kept up wonderfully even when hosting a party, and another praised it for producing 'so much ice.'
Can you customize the door panel to match your kitchen?Based on 3 owner mentions
Yes, this machine allows you to customize the outside door panel to match your kitchen décor. Reviewers mention fitting it with custom panels (such as Café white doors) to coordinate with other appliances, and one reviewer found the cabinet front installation straightforward.
Does this machine have a mobile app or smart features?Based on 1 owner mention
Yes, this ice maker includes a useful app that alerts you if the door wasn't closed properly and notifies you when it's time to change the filter, helping with maintenance and troubleshooting.
What should I know about long-term reliability?Based on 3 owner mentions
One reviewer reports their first GE nugget ice maker lasted 6 years and is still making ice, suggesting good durability when properly maintained. However, several reviewers have experienced significant reliability issues, with machines requiring multiple service calls and part replacements within the first two years. Following the cleaning and maintenance instructions appears important for longevity.
